Who should be the next RNC chair?

November 10, 2008 · 7 Comments

Lots of folks would be happy with Newt Gingrich, and I have heard other names dropped, by average Coservatives I have talked to recently as well.

So who should take the gig and be in charge of rebuilding the GOP?

There is another name I should have inckuded in the poll, and I think he would be a good choice as well

Actually, I think Fred would be good because he’s unlikely to ever seek public office again, has strong conservative values, and might be able to temper some of the more political animals in the corral. Newt would be my next choice followed by J.C. Watts.

Michael Steele might be good, but I am only relying on the little that I know about him.

From what I’ve read and heard, Lee Atwater was a good RNC leader. I would like one fashioned after him. We have to have good strategies so we never roll over again!

Mike, I think Fred would be the best choice, but that ain;t going to happen, it looks like it will be Steele. And I can work with that for sure

Great thoughts Lucy, it looks as though Steele will be endorsed by Newt

I think Pawlenty would be good. He is very smart and stays abreast of what his fellow Republicans are up to. But I would like to see a woman in that role. Someone with executive experience and a great organizer. Someone as powerful as Karen Hughes. Even though I don’t agree with all her political stances. At one time it was between Rice and Hughes as to which was the most powerful influential woman in the country. She would have made good Presidential material except GWB ruined her future chances when he made her head of the Iraq for war investigative group. The Democrats would have lodged a huge scandal about it if they thought she was a threat running for office.

I don’t who it would be… but they would have to have the following qualifications:

    1. Be against legislating morality at the federal level (if at all).
    2. Be against using our military as the world’s babysitter.
    3. Want to embrace the more libertarian wing of the party. This is what America will want in 4 years.
