UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!

Czech president not buying Gorezilla’s climate change story

Good on him! We need more leaders to stand up to Gore’s fear mongering. We also need more people to see that green is the new red

“Environmentalism and the global warming alarmism is challenging our freedom. Al Gore is an important person in this movement.”

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, he said that he was more worried about the reaction to the perceived dangers than the consequences.

“I’m afraid that the current crisis will be misused for radically constraining the functioning of the markets and market economy all around the world,” he said.

“I’m more afraid of the consequences of the crisis than the crisis itself.”

A wise choice of words!

A gift idea for our new leader

Michelle Malkin has a tremendous idea to both welcome our new president AND help him fight that darned climate change before it kills us all.

JB Williams on Government Sponsored Enterprises

Congressional Democrats Bankrupted the Nation

History of Government Sponsored Enterprises

By JB Williams

©2009 USA

Even though the US congress has been mucking up the banking industry since 1916, few Americans are familiar with GSE’s, (Government Sponsored Enterprises). As a result, the people have hired the same people who destroyed the US economy to begin with, to fix the US economy. Those people are now attempting to save the nation from complete economic collapse via the same failed economic policies that caused the crisis…

History repeats for benefit of those who have not yet learned the lesson

Although the US Constitution affords the federal government no such power whatsoever to engage taxpayer revenue in banking or any other economic enterprise, Congress has been recklessly meddling in private enterprise for almost one hundred years now, with a devastating track record of unparalleled failure.

The 2008-2009 collapse of the US banking system is not the result of failed free market mechanics, but rather a clear demonstration of just how unqualified the federal government is to regulate industry and private enterprise. It is not the result of the last eight years, but rather the last eighty years or more… It was not an accident, but instead a natural end to a bad idea.

The Beginning

The 64th US Congress created the first federal GSE in 1916, with the establishment of the Farm Credit System. Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate at the time and Democrat Woodrow Wilson was president.

The stated objective was to “provide sound and dependable credit to American farmers, ranchers, producers or harvesters of aquatic products, their cooperatives, and farm-related businesses. – We do this by making appropriately structured loans to qualified individuals and businesses at competitive rates and providing financial services and advice to those persons and businesses.”

A noble objective, but the key word in this statement is the word “qualified.” They were not talking about “credit worthy” qualifications, or a borrower’s ability to repay, but rather qualifications tied to a borrower’s “need.”

“Farm Credit institutions are chartered by the federal government and must operate within limits established by the Farm Credit Act.”

As is always the case, when the fed offers its helping hand, there are always strings attached. Five member Farm Credit Banks still exist today, AgFirst, AgriBank, CoBank, Farm Credit Bank of Texas, U.S. AgBank, and combined, they have outstanding loans of $158 billion as of September 2008.

The Federal Farm Credit program marks Americas first government venture into the banking business and while some good was done through this program over the years, we are about to see how this program laid the foundation for what would become the greatest economic calamity in world history.

The Middle

Based on the model of the Farm Credit System, the 72nd Congress entered the home mortgage business in 1932, with the establishment of the Federal Home Loan Banks. At the time, Republicans controlled the Senate and Democrats controlled the House, Republican Herbert Hoover was president.

Historians have recorded that “Hoover deeply believed in the Efficiency Movement (a major component of the Progressive Era), arguing that a technical solution existed for every social and economic problem. That position was challenged by the Stock market crash of 1929 that took place less than 8 months after Hoover’s taking office, and the Great Depression that followed it, which gained momentum in 1930. Hoover tried to combat the Depression with volunteer efforts and government action, none of which produced economic recovery during his term. The consensus among historians is that Hoover’s defeat in the 1932 election was caused primarily by failure to end the downward spiral into deep Depression.” [Wikipedia]

Of course, Hoover was succeeded by FDR and his New Deal, which thrust the federal government headlong into what has become decades of ill-fated attempts to use the weight and power of the government to remedy an endless stream of socio-economic challenges.

[ Roosevelt created the New Deal to provide relief for the unemployed, recovery of the economy, and reform of the economic and banking systems, through various agencies, such as the Works Project Administration, National Recovery Administration, the Agricultural Adjustment Administration, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), and the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Social Security system and the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). ]

In other words, he took the same fundamental approach that Democrats are trying again. If FDR’s New Deal had fully succeeded, the nation would not find itself in the condition it is in today. Some lessons ar…

Good grief these self-important Libs are really impressed with themselves aren’t they? I suppose soome has to think they matter.

Take a peek here

Liberals, gun control, and “feeling safe”

The idea of allowing citizens to carry concealed weapons has caught on and become law in most states. These states have seen no rise in violent crime, in fact they have generally seen decreases in violent crimes. There have been no “wild West shootouts”, or blood in the streets, or any of the other catastrophes the Left said would happen.

So, now the University of Texas is debating if allowing students with CC licenses to carry on campus is a good idea.

The univeristy’s student government voted today to not allow it, the vote was 31-6. Depressing news that is, but take a peek at some of the reasons given for voting against it.

“There are so many things we can do to make schools safer, and bringing guns on campus is not one of them,” said John Woods, a biology graduate student who authored the resolution.

Really? So what are they genius? What will stop a madman intent on bringing a firearm, or sword, or other weapon on campus to harm others? Surely all the laws against murder and assault did not work at Virginia Tech did they? So I would like to hear some solid ideas. How is disarming students going to protect them exactly?
Stein, a Plan II junior, said that while an student government resolution never sets anything in stone, he hopes that state legislators will take it into consideration when debating the concealed carry on campus bill over the next few months.
“I hope this sends a sign to our legislators that the students that would be affected by the bill really want the policy we have in place to stay in place,” said Eliot Cotton, a law school representative. “This is my safe haven, and I don’t want whoever wants to bring guns on campus to do so and compromise that feeling of safety.”

Ah, the “feeling of safety” in his “safe haven” Typical Liberal, all about feelings, not facts. Plenty of people are victims in places they “feel safe” in, like their homes, their cars, etc. Their feelings are not going to stop some murderous person. Hey, feelings are great, but in the real world, there ARE bad people, and they do not give a damn about “gun-free zones” or “safe havens” or Liberal’s feelings either!

It is also true that millions of Americans have not just felt safer, but have saved their lives BECAUSE they were armed, I know, I am one of them. Ten years ago, I was the intended victim of a thug with a gun and a si mask. My feelings mattered not. The student government of UT was not around to save me, nor was Sarah Brady, or any other nutty gun-grabber. Only one thing stopped my assailant, my Colt .45 in his face! Know what is really crazy? I have “felt” many “feelings” in the last decade. And one of theose “feelings” has been a feeling of security because I am armed.

The Stimulus might do some good if….

about what SHOULD have been included in the stimulus package. I have to say I think those ideas make great sense. Too bad our leaders are not so forward thinking.

Here’s just a few that may have been worthy enough to have been included, and may have had a positive impact on the lives of “hurting” Americans for a long time..

  • Not one mention of nuclear energy. Zero, zip, nada. Hundreds of thousands of jobs could have been created, not merely “saved”, by planning, constructing, working, and maintaining these plants, which we so desperately need. Sustainable jobs that would survive long past Obama’s tenure, and one which would forever be linked to his legacy.
  • Obama has alloted $1 billion dollars to Amtrak, a company which has not turned a profit in years. Instead of tossing money at a losing entity, why not build modern, super speed bullet trains to connect our major cities, ones which would create jobs in terms of the construction of them, and jobs which would be needed to run, service, and maintain them, as well. Obama is hell-bent on burdening an already crumbling auto industry, pushing creation of hybrid cars and enacting new draconian CAFE standards. By investing in a modernized train system, he would free himself up to help these automakers climb out of their coffins, “saving” jobs, while gradually implementing new standards of which they would have to adhere.
  • Construction of new bridges and tunnels connecting New York and New Jersey would not only alleviate the most congested traffic areas in the country, but would again create long-term, sustainable jobs in the building of such structures, staffing of these structures, while creating more toll revenue in the process.
  • Drill, Baby, Drill! There is no reason why we cannot avail ourselves of our own natural resources. We are going to be an oil-based society for the better part of this century, and we must lose no time in procuring as much of our own as we can. It is foolhardy to believe that we cannot do one while placating the other warming myth.

Tremendous ideas, and I confess I wondered how ideas that actually CREATED jobs were not included. But, of course, look at who is trying to solve our economic woes. Morons!

An ad you WILL NOT bee seeing on Super Sunday

NBC says it turned down the ad because it is political advocacy. Fine, I guess that is NBC’s call to make. Here is the ad, which I think is one of the very best pro-life ads ever made!

I do wonder if the ad was denied not because of it’s advocacy, but rather because of what cause it advocates. Like I already said, it is NBC’s call, but I would hope they would not allow ANY advocacy ads, by any group. They did ban the PETA spot, but not because of the advocacy, but because of the content.

Military judge 1 Obamassiah 0

Obama thought he could delay all the military tribunals for Gitmo detainees for 120 days. Think again Mr. President! A military judge has just ruled the tribunals will proceed

A military judge threw a wrench yesterday into the Obama administration’s plan to suspend legal proceedings at Guantanamo Bay, denying the government’s request to delay the case of a detainee accused of planning the 2000 attack on the USS Cole.

To halt proceedings for 120 days — as Obama wants in order to conduct a review — the Pentagon may be forced to temporarily withdraw charges against Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri and possibly 20 other detainees facing trial in military commissions, including Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the self-proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Nashiri, a Saudi citizen of Yemeni descent, is facing arraignment Feb. 9 on capital charges relating to the al-Qaeda strike on the Cole in Yemen that killed 17 U.S. service members and injured 50 others in October 2000.

Spokesman for Eternal Stupidity Syndrome speaks out!

Yep! Yet another Liberal Malady I have discovered, this one seems to be Eternal Stupidity Syndrome, ESS. It is a malady that strikes many Leftists. Consider they never seem to evolve ideologically do they? They never learn from past mistakes, so they must suffer from ESS!

This fellow, is a  great example of ESS!

UN atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei said Thursday that the election of US President Barack Obama had given him hope for a “saner” world for the first time.

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) praised Obama’s offer of talks with Iran and, in an implicit criticism of former president George W. Bush, said isolating states was always doomed to failure.

ElBaradei told the Davos forum: “For the first time I have started to have some hope that we will start to have a world that is safer, that is saner, that is more humane.”

See, no matter how many times these folks are shown that mad men and despots cannot be trusted, thry still cannot wait for the next chance to prostrate themselves before them!
