MSNBC to add third Leftist host?
MSNBC is thinking of adding yet another host to join in on their Obamagasmic form of “journalism” So, who would be the one to complete their version of the Three Stooges?
Well, OK including Chrissy “Oh God My Legs” Matthews they already have three Leftist tools, so I guess someone in the 10 PM timeslot would be the fourth Stooge!

TARP, payoffs, and who you know
This figures, you didn’t really expect our government to be responsible with these bailouts or are tax dollars did you?
Troubled OneUnited Bank in Boston didn’t look much like a candidate for aid from the Treasury Department’s bank bailout fund last fall.The Treasury had said it would give money only to healthy banks, to jump-start lending. But OneUnited had seen most of its capital evaporate. Moreover, it was under attack from its regulators for allegations of poor lending practices and executive-pay abuses, including owning a Porsche for its executives’ use.
Nonetheless, in December OneUnited got a $12 million injection from the Treasury’s Troubled Asset Relief Program, or TARP. One apparent factor: the intercession of Rep. Barney Frank, the powerful head of the House Financial Services Committee.
Mr. Frank, by his own account, wrote into the TARP bill a provision specifically aimed at helping this particular home-state bank. And later, he acknowledges, he spoke to regulators urging that OneUnited be considered for a cash injection.

Show of hands for who’s surprised by this. TARP actually works better than pork; it gets more dollars to the politically connected and gets the money there faster. Nor is this limited to Democrats, although Frank’s support of OneUnited despite their failure to qualify might be the most egregious example. Alabama has received $3.7 billion in TARP funds for four of its lenders, and state banking officials credit their two Republican Congressmen for getting them their share.
Yep America, we are going to get another royal porking from our “leaders”.

Credit where it is due
Obama will not likely do many things I agree with, by the way I hope I am wrong about that, butI doubt I am. Today, though he did something I agree with
President Barack Obama, in his first full day in office, revoked a controversial executive order signed by President Bush in 2001 that limited release of former presidents’ records.
The new order could expand public access to records of President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney in the years to come as well as other past leaders, said Steven Aftergood, director of the Project on Government Secrecy at the Federation of American Scientists.
“It’s extraordinary that a new president would address this issue on his first full day in office,” Aftergood said. “It signifies the great importance he attaches to open, accountable government. The new order suggests President Obama will take a narrow view of executive privilege and assert it in a much more limited way than what we’ve seen in the recent past.”
Under Bush’s order, former presidents had broad ability to claim executive privilege and could designate others including family members who survive them to exercise executive privilege on their behalf.
And in poking around I found that I am not the only Conservative who is pleased. Of course some others are not so certain

Obama’s election was all about moving us past race right? That was, and is the message from Obama. But, race was a huge factor in many voters pulling the lever for Obama. Gun-friendly Obama? Not so much
We all know, or should anyway, not to trust Liberal politicians who try to tell us how they ” respect our right to own guns”. Certainly words like “gun control” never escape their mouths.
Confederate Yankee has the latest example of how far we can trust Liberal politicians who promise not to touch our guns
Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.
So, there is what President Obama plans to do to “fight crime”. Blah, blah, blah.
First of all there is no “gun show loophole”. Gun dealers MUST, by law do a background check, PERIOD! The “loophole” that is referred involves private sales of guns. So, if Obama intends to fix the “loophole” then he must intend to ban, or tighly control private gun sales.
Secondly, the talk of childproofing guns would equal mandating trigger locks, or mandating that guns be kept unloaded, or locked away, or in some other fashion that render them useless if they are ever needed in a hurry. It is all about control, not fighting crime.
Finally, the business of restoring the Assaul Weapons Ban, well, head back to Confederate Yankee, where the AWB is put into perspective.
During the life of the ban (1994-2004) semi-automatic rifles and pistols increased in sales and became more widespread. So-called “assault rifles” and high capacity magazines sold in higher numbers than ever before during the ban. It did so because then Senator Biden and his fellow gun-banners are idiots, outlawing cosmetic features, knowing that a law affecting how the guns actually work would never stand a constitutional challenge. As a result, firearms that were “assault weapons” the day before the ban drops several scary-looking features that did not slow their rate of fire or affect their accuracy, and were legal again the very next day.

Yet it may come as a surprise that at a time of financial crisis and Green correctness, many of the wealthy are choosing to arrive by private jet.According to an article in Bloomberg, as many as 600 private jets were expected to touch down in D.C. for the inauguration. The runway at Washington Dulles was closed Saturday to allow as many as 100 small planes to park. And the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said it expected a total of 500 small jets to land from Jan. 16 through Jan 21.
“That would set a record, topping the 300 the airport accommodated for President George W. Bush’s 2004 inaugural,” an Airports Authority says in the article.

THE UN’s special torture rapporteur called on the US today to pursue former president George W. Bush and defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld for torture and bad treatment of Guantanamo prisoners.
“Judicially speaking, the United States has a clear obligation” to bring proceedings against Mr Bush and Mr Rumsfeld, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Torture Manfred Nowak said, in remarks to be broadcast on Germany’s ZDF television today.
He said Washington had ratified the UN convention on torture which required “all means, particularly penal law” to be used to bring proceedings against those violating it.
“We have all these documents that are now publicly available that prove that these methods of interrogation were intentionally ordered by Rumsfeld” against detainees at the US prison facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Mr Nowak said

Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and chanted “Death to Obama,” outside the Swiss embassy, and Reuters said it obtained pictures of Obama’s image laid on the road for cars to drive over.
Barack Obama has moved to suspend of all military tribunals and trials at Guantanamo Bay, in his first major decision as US president.The request would halt proceedings in 21 pending cases, including one against five men accused of plotting the 11 September 2001 attacks.
At the request of the US president, the department of defence on late Tuesday instructed military prosecutors to suspend for 120 days all trials pending in the Guantanamo military courts.The motion called for “a continuance of the proceedings” until 20 May so that “the newly inaugurated president and his administration [can] review the military commissions process, generally, and the cases currently pending before military commissions, specifically.”
