Hamas Douchebag: We beat Israel

Hmmm, apparently this Islamist defines “victory” as getting the living Hell pounded out of you.

Hamas leader said on Sunday Israel’s three-week offensive in the Gaza Strip was a failure and had not cowed the Palestinians.

“The enemy has failed to achieve its goals,” Ismail Haniyeh, the top Hamas leader in the territory, said in a speech broadcast on Hamas television. Though he called the war, in which more than 1,300 Gazans and 13 Israelis died, a “popular victory” for Palestinians, Haniyeh said Hamas’s decision to declare a truce on Sunday was “wise and responsible”.

Bush commutes sentences of Ramos and Campean

Well done Mr. President!

On his last day in office President Bush commuted the ten year sentences of border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. They will be released in March. Many people were hoping they would receive a pardon. They were convicted by a jury for shooting a drug smuggler. If you shot a drug smuggler in the butt, where I live, you wouldn’t get a prison sentence. One of your relatives would take you to a Cracker Barrel for a celebratory meal.

Well, if I ever get to shoot a drug dealing scumbag in the arse, take me out, but Cracker Barell?, Naw, how about Hooters?

Shocker! Bill passed “for the children” an epic failure!

Yet the latest example of how pathetic most laws passed in the “For The Children” spirit turn out! Will they ever learn ?

CPSIA is now shaping up as a calamity for businesses and an epic failure of regulation, threatening to wipe out tens of thousands of small makers of children’s items from coast to coast, and taking a particular toll on the handcrafted and creative, the small-production-run and sideline at-home business, not to mention struggling retailers. How could this have happened?

Congress passed CPSIA in a frenzy of self-congratulation following last year’s overblown panic over Chinese toys with lead paint. Washington’s consumer and environmentalist lobbies used the occasion to tack on some other long-sought legislative goals, including a ban on phthalates used to soften plastic.

The law’s provisions were billed as stringent, something applauded by high-minded commentators as a way to force the Mattels and Fisher-Prices of the world to keep more careful watch on the supply chains of their Chinese factories.

The first thing to note is that we’re not just talking about toys here. With few exceptions, the law covers all products intended primarily for children under 12. That includes clothing, fabric and textile goods of all kinds: hats, shoes, diapers, hair bands, sports pennants, Scouting patches, local school-logo gear and so on.

And paper goods: books, flash cards, board games, baseball cards, kits for home schoolers, party supplies and the like. And sporting equipment, outdoor gear, bikes, backpacks and telescopes. And furnishings for kids’ rooms.

And videogame cartridges and audio books. And specialized assistive and therapeutic gear used by disabled and autistic kids.

Steelers KO Ravens, head to Tampa

Always have been a Steeler fan, always will. Of course my passion for them or the NFL is well below my love for the Gators, or college ball, but I am still darned pleased that the Steelers are going back to the Super Bowl.

Oh, and my pick for the game? Steelers 27, Cards 21

Cardinals to the Super Bowl?

Right now, they are one play away! And there it is incomplete, the Cards take over on downs. 1:51 left and the Eagles have one time out left.

Six-yard gain of first down for the Cards, the Eagles use their last time out 1:43 left.

Run on second down is close to a first down, the Cards are short by a foot 1:29 left and the clock running.

The Cards tale timeout with :59 left, they covert here it is over.

The Cards run up the middle and lose a yard fourth down The Cards will drain the clock and punt.

Timeout Cards :15 left.

The punt sails out of bounds at the Eagles 7 :09 left.

Tampa here come the Cards! How about that!

Kumbaya? Not so much!

Yep! This post by the lovely Michelle Malkin pretty much sums up my “joy” over Tuesday’s inauguration. I just do not know if DC can handle that many Obamagasms in one day!

I know I am galled by the  hypocrisy  being shown by the Left, but really, consistency is not their strong suit is it?

Four years ago, the Associated Press and others in the press suggested it was in poor taste for Republicans to spend $40 million on President Bush’s inauguration. AP writer Will Lester calculated the impact that kind of money would have on armoring Humvees in Iraq, helping victims of the tsunami, or paying down the deficit. Lester thought the party should be cancelled: “The questions have come from Bush supporters and opponents: Do we need to spend this money on what seems so extravagant?”

Fast forward to 2009. The nation is still at war (two wars, in fact), and now also faces the prospect of a severe recession and federal budget deficits topping $1 trillion as far as the eye can see. With Barack Obama’s inauguration estimated to cost $45 million (not counting the millions more that government will have to pay for security), is the Associated Press once again tsk-tsking the high dollar cost?

Panic time! Environut says we are DOOMED!

Doomed?, Oh God not DOOMED! But, alas this douchebag says we are DOOMED, unless, of course, the Obamessiah can save us.

Barack Obama has only four years to save the world. That is the stark assessment of Nasa scientist and leading climate expert Jim Hansen who last week warned only urgent action by the new president could halt the devastating climate change that now threatens Earth. Crucially, that action will have to be taken within Obama’s first administration, he added.

Soaring carbon emissions are already causing ice-cap melting and threaten to trigger global flooding, widespread species loss and major disruptions of weather patterns in the near future. “We cannot afford to put off change any longer,” said Hansen. “We have to get on a new path within this new administration. We have only four years left for Obama to set an example to the rest of the world. America must take the lead.”

Hansen said current carbon levels in the atmosphere were already too high to prevent runaway greenhouse warming. Yet the levels are still rising despite all the efforts of politicians and scientists.

Only the US now had the political muscle to lead the world and halt the rise, Hansen said. Having refused to recognise that global warming posed any risk at all over the past eight years, the US now had to take a lead as the world’s greatest carbon emitter and the planet’s largest economy. Cap-and-trade schemes, in which emission permits are bought and sold, have failed, he said, and must now be replaced by a carbon tax that will imposed on all producers of fossil fuels. At the same time, there must be a moratorium on new power plants that burn coal – the world’s worst carbon emitter.

Who saw this cominmg?

Wow, stabbings and mayhem at an after party for a movie about a dead rapper? What a stunner!

A party celebrating the release of a movie about the life of Biggie Smalls ended with four people being stabbed in the rapper’s home borough today, cops said.

The men were hurt around 3:25 a.m. at the event in Canarsie’s Djumbala Club, on 1370 Ralph Avenue, which was billed as the “official afterparty” for the movie “Notorious.”

Obama’s inauguration will have a massive carbon footprint

Of  course, this is OK with the same folks who demonize you if you dare drive an SUV! Do as they say, not as they do. They know better than us don’t ya know! Sure all people are equal, but the elites are “more equal” than the rest of us.

H/T JWF!

The carbon footprint of Barack Obama’s inauguration could exceed 575 million pounds of CO2. According to the Institute for Liberty, it would take the average U.S. household nearly 60,000 years of naughty ecological behavior to produce a carbon footprint equal to the largest self-congratulatory event in the history of humankind.

The same congressfolk who are now handing out thousands of tickets to this ecological disaster only last year mandated the phased elimination of the incandescent light bulb — a mere carbon tiptoe, if you will. The whole thing seems a bit unfair.

And, on the day millions of Americans were freezing their collective backsides off, new Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman announced that Congress would fast-track climate change legislation. Waxman claimed “inaction on the climate issue is causing uncertainties that make it more difficult to emerge from the recession,” according to The Associated Press.

Yikes!

Well THIS is encouraging!

Hmmm, the daughter of Leon Panetta, who will be Obama’s pick to head the CIA, likes to hang out with Marxist enermies of America!

If the adult daughter of a CIA Director-designate hangs out with sworn enemies of the United States, it’s a matter for the United States Senate to probe aggressively. And so the Senate really has to ask some very pointed questions about Linda Panetta, daughter of President-Elect Obama’s pick to lead the CIA, and her ties to Sandinista leader Daniel Ortega and Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez.

Linda Panetta is a noted anti-military activist who has accused the US military of teaching Latin American officers how to torture. She has also been close to causes hostile toward the United States and friendly to the old Soviet Union, and the regimes in Cuba, Venezuela and Iran.

As a leader of School of the Americas Watch, Panetta urged Chavez to cancel Venezuela’s participation in the US military school for Latin American officers in Fort Benning, Georgia. Chavez agreed, and promptly did so. As such, Compañera Panetta helped sever an important link between the US and the Venezuelan officer corps. This is a big blow to US intelligence efforts in the hemisphere.

Call me nuts, but this raises some concerns for me!

Israel: Cease-fire coming

The details are here!

Under the plan, Israel will halt its attack for ten days, though Israeli boots will remain on the ground in Gaza. During that time, Egypt, France, Germany, the U.K., the U.S., and Israel will hammer out a long-term solution. A major issue to be addressed is how to prevent Hamas from re-supplying through the Egyptian border-crossings and tunnels. Independently, Egypt will then broker a deal with Hamas.

Europe rediscovers its love for America and Obamgasms

Oh the Libs must just be glowing. Europe likes us again!

As Micha Wyatt plans an inaugural bash at the Chicago Rib Shack in London, she is basking in the new warmth toward Americans overseas.

It’s cool to be an American again, Wyatt said. “Finally! I’m tired of pretending I’m Canadian.”

From Jakarta to Johannesburg, Americans who travel or live abroad are finding that instead of being scolded about the Iraq war, the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, or U.S. climate change policy, they are being hugged when strangers hear their accent.

“People would question me: ‘Where are the weapons of mass destruction? What is America doing?’ ” said Wyatt, 38, a San Francisco native who said she does not align herself with any party but comes from a Republican family.

How pathetic!

Ace has some excellent comments on this situational patriotism

Frank Salvato on the media’s pro-terror nature

Nothing to add here, nothing at all. Frank nails it!

As the Israelis continue their push into Gaza; as they continue an offensive military campaign against Hamas, born of the need to protect Israeli civilians from rockets fired by Hamas jihadis, it is almost impossible to gather accurate information regarding the conflict, at least not from the mainstream media. The accounts advanced by mainstream news sources are so devoid of balance – and, thusly, devoid of a whole and honest truth – that their product reaches a caliber of propaganda not seen since the disinformation campaigns of the Third Reich. Goebbels would be envious.

It is next to impossible for someone seeking a full accounting of daily events in Israel and Gaza to divine them from the one-world media sources. This is because their coverage serves as an encore to the one-sided reporting they provided during the 2006 conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in the south of Lebanon.

During the Hezbollah-Israeli conflict of 2006, the mainstream, one-world media routinely purchased pictures for publication from photographers sympathetic to Hezbollah. Two widely exposed incidents of disingenuous and/or staged photography proved to be the benchmarks. In one incident a wailing Arab women was repeatedly photographed standing in front of different war-torn buildings, each said to be the remnants of her house. In another, an Arab rescue worker spent the larger portion of a day carrying around a dead child who had been recovered from the rubble of a building hit by Israeli artillery fire. He would pose, his face wrenched in despair and urgency, for any photographer who would ask. Reuters was eventually confronted with the photographs and they reluctantly admitted that they hadn’t vetted the photographers prior to running with the pictures. Incidentally, the Arab rescue worker has turned up in several pictures from the current Israeli-Gaza campaign.

While many will argue that these are isolated incidents, this declaration flies in the face of the facts when one takes into consideration that Hamas and Hezbollah have active propaganda arms. To catch a glimpse into this world of deception all you have to do is to watch the short films Pallywood and Al-Dura: The Making of an Icon, which expose how Palestinian propagandists manipulate an eagerly accepting and agendized one-world media.

And while the one-world media bemoans the fact that the Israelis have refused to allow the international press into Gaza to cover the conflict, they have no problem accepting the accounts of those who have manufactured the propaganda of the recent past, reporting it as fact. To say that responsible journalism is dead is a gross understatement, especially when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

Yet, the one-world media continues to “report” on the “poor Palestinians.”

Nancy Salvato on our fading sovereignty

We are rapidly losing our national sovereignty, something that has been highlighted repeatedly by our government’s unwilingness to enforce border and immigration laws. It is sad that of the multiple presidential candidates this past election, only one, Fred Thompson spoke about protecting our sovereignty!

The latest column by Nancy Salvato digs into how our sovereignty is being undermined from many different directions. It is an excellent read my friends.

JB Williams columns updated

JB is one of the finest writers America has and I am proud he allows me the honor of running some of them here.

I am going to give you some links to JB’s two most recent coulmns today. First JB digs into a new gun control bill I posted about a couple of days ago. Like I have said over and again, the Left’s assault on our right to defend ourselves is as real as ever, and now they have opportunities to really act on it. Stay vigilant.

Next, JB writes about a trend I have also noted in the American people. The trend to look increasingly away from the principles of the Constitution. As JB puts in Freedom isn’t for Everyone

The term “liberal” is a complete misnomer today, a one word oxymoron. Little more than 230 years after the founding of the greatest free nation in human history, we find that freedom simply isn’t for everyone, namely liberals. We find that many modern Americans prefer to be taken care of, rather than to preserve the freedom to take care of themselves.

Freedom is Fair, but it isn’t Equal

Under freedom, those who do, get – and those who don’t, might do without… While this is entirely fair, it is far from equal, and that is where the problem begins.

Many Americans have been trained to believe that an equal outcome, despite unequal effort, is an unalienable Constitutional right of every American. It is an entitlement mentality which says, “I don’t have to produce or contribute anything. I am entitled to equal pay and equal stuff, despite the lack of equal effort or sacrifice on my part.” And a growing number of Americans are buying into that thought pattern.

In short, freedom only works well for those who use their freedoms well. Those who do not use their freedoms well will pay the price of failure. The same freedom that makes it possible to succeed also makes it possible to fail. Success and failure are two sides of the same coin and the individual choices we make will determine which side of that coin we represent.

While nothing on earth is fairer than freedom, it is inconvenient, uncomfortable, unequal and therefore politically unacceptable. People must not be allowed the freedom to fail. So, they can not be allowed the freedom to succeed either…

Another reason Israel should keep going

Apparently Hamas never saw the ferocity of the Israeli attack coming. Great! Yet another good reason for Israel to keep grinding Hamas into dirt!

The story here says that Israel has thankfully allowed its military to take the gloves off!

When Israeli soldiers saw a suspected suicide bomber riding a bike towards them, they moved quickly. As the man ducked into a building for safety, Israeli soldiers said they used a bulldozer to bring the walls down on top of him.

When armed Palestinians popped out of a tunnel and tried to attack, Israeli troops said they used tank fire and a bulldozer to decimate the militants.

In fight after fight and neighborhood after neighborhood, Israeli soldiers are bringing more aggressive tactics to the Gaza Strip battlefields.

In interviews earlier in the week with embedded pool reporters and Wednesday with a McClatchy reporter along the Gaza Strip border, Israeli troops said a freer military hand has given them a decisive edge over outgunned Palestinian militants in the 19-day-old conflict. They also said they were surprised by the relatively light resistance from Hamas fighters.

From the hospital beds in southern Israel to an artillery unit along the Gaza border, nearly a dozen soldiers told McClatchy that Israel had to deliver an unprecedented blow to ensure that Hamas militants don’t resume their rocket attacks when the fighting ends.

“You can’t be lenient,” said O., a 29-year-old Israeli reservist who declined to give his full name because soldiers can be disciplined for talking to reporters without explicit permission. “We’re using a lot more firepower, and the orders for engagement are less strict.”
