Why do people risk other’s lives by doing things like THIS while driving?
Police in Ohio say a woman has been charged with child endangering after another motorist reported she was both breast-feeding a youngster and talking on a phone while driving.
Police in the Dayton suburb of Kettering say the caller told them he saw the woman Thursday.
Officer Michael Burke says authorities used a license plate number to track down 39-year-old Genine Compton.
He said the woman told officers she was breast-feeding and wouldn’t let her child go hungry.
What? She was not eating a Whopper at the same time? What a slacker!

Creative Exchange? Hmmm
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences confirmed to AFP on Friday that it had sent a group from Hollywood to Iran — emphasizing they are on a strictly cultural mission of creative exchange.
“I can confirm that a group of Academy members… are currently in Iran” on a “completely private initiative for educational and creative exchange and with no political agenda,” AMPAS director for communications Leslie Unger told AFP.
Iranian media had reported that the delegation included the Academy’s president, as well as actress Annette Bening, saying the group would hold meetings Saturday and Sunday in Tehran.

America has become so hypersensitive, so whiny, and so obsessed with the notion that the most important human right is the right not to be offended, that we are now apolgizing BEFORE anyone is even offended!
You can blame those who constantly beat on their drums(that will likely OFFEND someone) of discontent. You can blame those who seemingly are only happy when they feel offended. You can blame those who think there is a right not to have their felings hurt. But, the bulk of the blame lies with the spineless wimps who cower every time some whiner yells “offense” “racisim”, etc. How nice it would be, just once, to hear someone, or network, or corporation, or newspaper say, “If anyone was offended, too bad! Get over it!”
Never mind if the imagined offense is or will be real. Never mind if it will be cooked up by some race pimp to further THEIR agenda. Never mind if the offended party should be rightly offended. Never mind any of that. Just apologize in case anyone might, one day, think that they might, be offended!
Moral cowardice anyone? Michelle Malkin brings us both a great example of what she calls preemptive apologies, and a great response to the inanity of such a policy!

BIG BROTHER that is! The move towards taxing us on how many miles we drive is a hot topic these days. Of course that would demand the government monitor where we are wouldn’t it? It would have to. Cigar Mike at Babalu asks why Liberals are not upset by this.
The left would get bent out of shape because under W, the NSA used surveillance to track down terrorists. Now if this plan takes hold, they will use the economic crises as an excuse to set up this crap to tax us more and to be able to know our whereabouts. The leftist wankers I guess don’t mind the government knowing their every movement if it helps reduce “global warming” or helps “raise taxes”, but it upsets them if it helps track down terrorists. Go figure.
Infringing liberty is something the Left, by nature, craves, their answer to any problems has always been government based. They are collectivists, not individualists. Freedom, in their world, should be conditional on social behaviors.
Free speech? Sure, but they must approve of what we say. Provacy? Absolutely, unless they can excuse invading privacy to collect taxes to combate their imagined climate crisis, or some other crisis they cook up.
Tax and Spend? Yep! Sounds like Obama to me
Yes, we know all about the spending part of the equasion, but have you really thought about the back breaking taxes? Anchoress has and it is not a pretty picture she paints!
I am unconvinced that Americans – wanting to fell good about themselves and be optimistic and “hopeful” in 2008 – really thought this was the change they were voting for:
1) On people making more than $250,000.
* $338 billion – Bush tax cuts expire
* $179 billlion – eliminate itemized deduction
* $118 billion – capital gains tax hike
…
The business tax hikes are even worse. Obama will increase taxes on existing American oil production starting in 2011. Do we have massive amounts of alternative energy capacity ready to replace the energy production and usage that this will discourage? A growing economy has to have a reliable energy supply. Energy producers get hit on several fronts in this plan, and those costs will either result in lower energy production or increased cost to the consumers.This is going to “create or save” millions of jobs? Hog-tying and hyper-regulating small businesses (a small business doing $250,000 a year is a VERY small business, not a fat-cat enterprise) will not create jobs. It will inspire businesses to close down.

In giving the republican response to President Obama’s speech Tuesday night, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal pointed out fundamental differences in how republicans and democrats see the economy.
Wednesday morning on the CBS Early Show, Vice President Joe Biden asked, “But what I don’t understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do? In Louisiana, there’s 400 people a day losing their jobs. What’s he doing?”
But that claim is wrong if you look at the numbers from the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
“In December, Louisiana was the only state in the nation besides the District of Columbia, according to the national press release, that added employment over the month,” said Patty Granier with the Louisiana Workforce Commission.

Marxulus III?
The original,$ 787 billion Marxulus passed, Marxulus II, a smaller, porkier bastard son of Marxulus has passed the House ($410 billion), and now, we hear of Marxulus III. A $750 billion bailout for banks. SOOOIE!
President Barack Obama’s first budget request includes a contingency for as much as $750 billion in new aid to the financial industry this year while laying plans for a health-care system overhaul and higher taxes on the wealthy.
The spending blueprint, sent to Congress today, forecasts record outlays for the current fiscal year of $3.94 trillion, up 32 percent from a year ago. That would yield a record deficit of $1.75 trillion in the year ending Sept. 30, equal to about 12 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product, the highest since World War II.
The Obama administration plans to spend $3.55 trillion in fiscal 2010, beginning Oct. 1, with the deficit narrowing to $1.17 trillion. The president has promised to cut the shortfall in half by the end of his first term.
“While we must add to our deficits in the short term to provide immediate relief to families and get our economy moving, it is only by restoring fiscal discipline over the long run that we can produce sustained growth and shared prosperity,” Obama said today before the budget was released.
Oh, and you just knew that tax hikes would be involved. If you are “rich” just stock up on Vaseline and bend over!
The budget proposes to raise taxes on couples earning more than $250,000 a year, generating $636 billion over the next decade. To do so, Obama proposes raising the top two marginal income tax rates to 39.6 percent and 36 percent, limiting itemized tax deductions and increasing taxes on capital gains to 20 percent from the current 15 percent.
The plan would also raise taxes on many Wall Street financiers, pare subsidies to insurance companies participating in the government’s Medicare health-care system by $170 billion, and trim spending on some defense programs.
Yep! More punitive, confiscatory taxation! Hope and Change? More like Marx and Engels!
