Greenspan backs temporary nationalization of banks

The key word, for me is temporarily. Because I think we all know that moves like that, never end up being temporary.

The US government may have to nationalise some banks on a temporary basis to fix the financial system and restore the flow of credit, Alan Greenspan, the former Federal Reserve chairman, has told the Financial Times.

In an interview, Mr Greenspan, who for decades was regarded as the high priest of laisser-faire capitalism, said nationalisation could be the least bad option left for policymakers.

”It may be necessary to temporarily nationalise some banks in order to facilitate a swift and orderly restructuring,” he said. “I understand that once in a hundred years this is what you do.”

Mr Greenspan’s comments capped a frenetic day in which policymakers across the political spectrum appeared to be moving towards accepting some form of bank nationalisation.

Idiot Attorney General: We are cowards on race!

Hot Air has the video. Here is the jest of it. AG Holder is saying that we, as a nation, get ready to roll your eyes, do not talk ENOUGH about race! Ok, I will pause while you shake your head in frustration.

If you are like me, you think we talk way too much about race, or at least our politicians do. Sure the media obsesses over race, as do race pimps like Al “Pimp My Hair” Sharpton , and Je$$e Jack$on. But the average American probably doesn’t talk much about skin color, because frankly, most of us DO NOT CARE ABOUT IT!

Of course, we know what Liberals like Holder generally mean when they make statements like the one he made. He means we do not buy into the “racism is still alive and prevelant in America” BS!

Some cool photos from today’s Mesa, Arizona Marxulus protest

The lovely Michelle Malkin has posted some very funny pictures of some protest signs at todays event in Arizona

I like them all, but this one is my personal favorite

gimme-gimme

Another day, another city, another anti-Marxulus protest!

Today, Mesa Arizona. Michelle Malkin has some details and info. Here is the scene that President Obama was met with. Protesters protesting pretty much everything.

As for me, I cam tell you I just do not run into many people who are feeling very “stimulated”.Most are concerned that the government “help” will make the economy worse!

Obamanomics at work!

A quick question for the Obamassiah. If the Marxulus Bill is the answer to our economic ills, shouldn’t the market be going the other way?

On Nov. 4, after Barack Obama clinched the White House, the market closed at 9,625.28.

In mid-morning trading today, the day President Obama signs his massive Generational Theft Act into law and a day before he unveils a massive new mortgage entitlement, the Dow dropped to to 7,606.53.

Protesting the Marxulus Pig Out!

Michelle Malkin was in Denver to cover one of the protests today, I would have loved to go, but, I gotta pay the bills so…., oh well maybe one will come to Dallas.

Michelle also has the scoop on the next Marxulus protest, in Mesa, Arizona. Head out and take part if you live in that area.

17,000 more troops headed to Afghanistan

Well, I guess President Obama decided that maybe a surge in Afghanistan will help do the trick after all.

President Barack Obama approved adding some 17,000 U.S. troops for the flagging war in Afghanistan, his first significant move to change the course of a conflict that his closest military advisers have warned the United States is not winning.

“To meet urgent security needs, I approved a request from (Defense) Secretary Gates to deploy a Marine Expeditionary Brigade later this spring and an Army Stryker Brigade and the enabling forces necessary to support them later this summer,” Obama said in a statement issued by the White House.

About 8,000 Marines are expected to go in first, followed by about 9,000 Army troops. Some 34,000 U.S. troops are already in Afghanistan.

God Bless these warriors, and pray that He protects them.

Thoughts on the Marxist Doctrine

BlackFive has some great points about what the Marxist Doctrine will result in, and some contact info on how you can let your Congressman know how you feel.

But I have some thoughts I have not heard anyone else express. Those desiring the return of the Fairness Doctrine always complain that there is no “balance” on talk radio.

Hmmm, I have heard different hosts disagree on subjects. I certainly have heard many callers who disagree or raise opposing views to the hosts as well.

I have heard many guests on talk radio who debate with the hosts as well. So, there IS balance, and there are differing voices already on talk radio.

These are points we should raise in response to those who are calling for the return of the Fairness Doctrine. We, who have blogs, better wake up and realize that WE ARE NEXT! If the FCC can dictate what the content of talk radio, then certainly the government can dictate “fairness” on the internet as well.

Since there are many Liberal bloggers, they might think about what the Fairness Doctrine will eventually mean for them.

Nationalizing banks: NOT what Republicans should support!

The other day, as I listened to Lindsay Graham say that nationalizing our banking system should be “left on the table”, I began to wonder if there was any hope that the GOP will ever return to the principles of the Founders. Today, I found this commentary and thought it summed up the feelings of not only myself, but most Conservatives as well

Obama justice department upholds Bush decision on concealed carry in National Parks

Well, good, no great for them! It was the right decision, and should have been upheld. No American should surrender their rights when entering a national park.

The Obama administration is legally defending a last-minute rule enacted by President George W. Bush that allows concealed firearms in national parks, even as it is internally reviewing whether the measure meets environmental muster.

In a response Friday to a lawsuit by gun-control and environmental groups, the Justice Department sought to block a preliminary injunction of the controversial rule. The regulation, which took effect Jan. 9, allows visitors to bring concealed, loaded guns into national parks and wildlife refuges; for more than two decades they were allowed in such areas only if they were unloaded or stored and dismantled.

But, of course, there is a reason or two not to do too much celebrating yet.

But Interior Secretary Ken Salazar has asked for an internal assessment of whether the measure has any environmental impacts the government needs to take into account, Interior spokesman Matt Lee-Ashley said yesterday.

“Secretary Salazar believes the Department should put forward its legal arguments in defense of the rulemaking procedure, and allow the courts to reach a conclusion,” Lee-Ashley wrote in an e-mail. “In addition, in order to ensure that the actions of the government are based upon the best information, Secretary Salazar has directed the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service, under the auspices of the Office of Assistant Secretary for Fish, Wildlife and Parks, to undertake a 90-day review of any environmental considerations associated with implementation of these rules and to provide him a report on the results of that review.”

Hmmm, why do I have a sinking feeling that somehow, this  review will find some negative environmental impacts?

Oregon may impose massive taxes on beer

Bastards! Not just taxes, not just slightly increased “sin taxes” either, oh no, these souless beasts are gunning for a 1900% increase in beer taxes

Five Oregon state lawmakers want to impose a hefty tax on beer and have introduced a bill that brewers say would cripple them.

Four Portland legislators joined a Springfield senator to introduce Oregon House Bill 2461, which would impose a $49.61 tax on each barrel of beer produced by Oregon brewers.

The tax would raise revenue for the state at a time when budgets are running in the red. Specifically, the bill says it would fund prevention, treatment and recovery programs for those addicted to alcohol and other substances.

Brilliant idea! Why not destroy the micro-brew industry, and the jobs it creates! That is sure to help your economy there Oregon!

Michael Medved was discussing this issue on his show, and he raised a great point I thought. He wondered why Democrats think that high taxes can discourage things like drinking, or smoking, but refuse to recognize  that  high taxes also discurage things like investments or starting, or expanding a  business?

Hillary to North Korea: If you test that missile, we wil be mad at you

Or words to that effect anyway.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned North Korea against following through on a threatened missile launch, saying Tuesday it would damage its prospects for improved relations with the United States and the world.

Yep! That will straighten them out!

Obamagasms alert!

One Obama fan gives us, well, too much info!

Senator Chucky gets his pork!

Michelle Malkin has an update on the drive to send Sen. Schummer pork rinds to show that, yes, we do care about the pork in the Marxulus Bill.

I hope Chucky likes pork rinds!

How do you know if you are watching too much internet porn?

Well, judge by how upset you get over this story

By the way, if you want to know how upset I am…. no comment!

Video gold! Smokin hot Megyn Kelly bitch slaps Liberal tool over Marxist Doctrrine!

Hot Air has the clip. Is it me, or is Bill Press a wimpy little whiner? I didn’t think it was me.

I like how Press argues that Air America was popular? Really? It failed Bill, it failed miserably. Press also argues that “progressive” talk radio is not given a fair shot, yet, he lists several cities where it does succeed. Hmm, if a evil conspiracy to silence Libeal talk exists, why is Liberal talk on anywhere? Much less doing well, in several markets?

My take is this. Most Liberal talkers I have heard are so far Left they drive anyone except the hardest of hardcore Leftists away. They sound angry, bitter, and deranged frankly. I would enjoy listening to some Liberal hosts, but Franken? Schulzt? Garaffalo? Come on, they are nuts! They represent such a small minority of Americans, that they will never get ratings. Face it, Bill, the Moonbat demographic is just too small.
