I will just say this about Pelosi. She took an oath to defend the Constitution, which she clearly does not intend to do. She is unfit to serve as she puts her anything-for-a-vote- tactics above the best interest of America. She is a disgrace to her esteemed office.

Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address in Washington when he realised it all sounded a bit too familiar.

It was. He was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just read from the same teleprompter.

Mr Cowen stopped, turned to the president and said: “That’s your speech.”

A laughing Mr Obama returned to the podium to take over but it seems the script had finally been switched and the US president ended up thanking himself for inviting everyone to the party.

Mr Obama is an accomplished orator but is becoming known in America as the “teleprompt president” over his reliance on the machine when he gives a speech.

Well, all of you folks who were worried about Eric Holder as AG ought to be relieved! Seems that only some Gitmo detainnees could be tried or even release in the U.S.A! What could possibly go wrong?

 Some of the Guantanamo Bay prisoners could be released into the United States while others could be put on trial in the American court system, Attorney General Eric Holder said on Wednesday.

Holder, who was chosen by President Barack Obama to lead the administration’s efforts to close the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba within a year, said the review of what to do with each of the prisoners had begun.

About 240 terrorism suspects, including suspected planners of the Sept. 11 attacks, are being held in the prison. Many have been detained for seven years without charges and some were subjected to interrogation techniques denounced by critics as torture.

The administration faces intense political resistance to the idea of bringing the prisoners to the United States as part of closing the detention camp. The administration seeks to transfer some detainees to Europe or other countries while freeing others.

Holder told reporters at the Justice Department that the administration’s review, made on a case-by-case basis, would determine whether the prisoners need to be put on trial or whether they can be released.

Awful news, Nastasha Richardson dead at 45

Terrible news!

Tony-award winning actress Natasha Richardson died Wednesday at the age of 45 in a New York City hospital.

An official statement released says “Liam Neeson, his sons, and the entire family are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of their beloved Natasha.”

“They are profoundly grateful for the support, love and prayers of everyone, and ask for privacy during this very difficult time,” said the statement.

The actress had been transported back to New York City from Canada, where she suffered a head injury after falling on a beginners ski slope.

Really hate to hear this. Prayers to her family.

President Obama’s climate plan could cost industry close to $2 trillion, nearly three times the White House’s initial estimate of the so-called “cap-and-trade” legislation, according to Senate staffers who were briefed by the White House.

A top economic aide to Mr. Obama told a group of Senate staffers last month that the president’s climate-change plan would surely raise more than the $646 billion over eight years the White House had estimated publicly, according to multiple a number of staffers who attended the briefing Feb. 26.

“We all looked at each other like, ‘Wow, that’s a big number,’” said a top Republican staffer who attended the meeting along with between 50 and 60 other Democratic and Republican congressional aides.

The plan seeks to reduce pollution by setting a limit on carbon emissions and allowing businesses and groups to buy allowances, although exact details have not been released.

At the meeting, Jason Furman, a top Obama staffer, estimated that the president’s cap-and-trade program could cost up to three times as much as the administration’s early estimate of $646 billion over eight years. A study of an earlier cap-and-trade bill co-sponsored by Mr. Obama when he was a senator estimated the cost could top $366 billion a year by 2015.   

 

 

Wow, they are spending more money than we make to intiate a program that will send our energy bills through the roof to solve a problem that does not even EXIST!

That is 1.5 trillion, AT LEAST! I say at least for two reasons. Government NEVER spends what they initially say they will, and the 1,500,000,000,000 YES, there are ELEVEN freaking zeroes in that number, is up from the 634,000,000,000 only nine freaking zeroes there! So, who really knows how much this will end up costing, never mind how we will ever pay for it.

Oh, no doubt we will pay with less choice, more red tape, and lower quality care, this we can safely predict. But how the government will choke enough out of us to pay for this disaster no one can say.

As president, she might have caused the stock market to plunge over 2,000 points in the six weeks after she assumed office, left important posts in the Treasury unfilled for two months, been described by insiders as ‘overwhelmed’ by the office, and then gone on to diss the British Prime Minister on his first state visit, giving him, as one head of state to another, a set of DVDs plucked from the aisles of Wal Mart, a tasteful gift, even if they can’t be played on a TV in Britain. (Note, the Prime Minister, who is losing his eyesight, may even be blind in one eye).

 

As vice president, she might have told Katie Couric that when the stock market crashed in 1929, President Franklin D. Roosevelt went on TV to reassure a terrified nation. Or on her first trip abroad as Secretary of State, she might have, as the AP reported, “raised eyebrows on her first visit to Europe…when she mispronounced her “EU counterparts names and claimed U.S. democracy was older than Europe’s,” then gave the Russian minister a gag “reset” button, on which the word “reset” was translated incorrectly.

 

What a good thing that Palin, whom Christopher Buckley called “an embarrassment, and a dangerous one,” wasn’t in office to cause such debacles, and that we have Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton instead.

Latest stroke of genius from Team Obama? Carbon tariff!

Mr. Chu, speaking before a House science panel, said establishing a carbon tariff would help “level the playing field” if other countries haven’t imposed greenhouse-gas-reduction mandates similar to the one President Barack Obama plans to implement over the next couple of years. It is the first time the Obama administration has made public its view on the issue.

“If other countries don’t impose a cost on carbon, then we will be at a disadvantage…[and] we would look at considering perhaps duties that would offset that cost,” Mr. Chu said.

Li Gao, a senior Chinese negotiator from the National Development and Reform Commission, told Dow Jones Newswires Monday that a carbon tariff would be a “disaster,” would prompt a trade war and wouldn’t be legal under World Trade Organization agreements

“It does not abide by the rule of [the] WTO and, secondly, it’s not fair,” Mr. Gao said, adding that his delegation would relate China’s concerns to U.S. officials.

On Monday’s Countdown show, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann hosted left wing actress and comedian Janeane Garofalo to discuss FNC analyst Bernard Goldberg’s recent enumeration of the “five worst offenders” of what Bill O’Reilly called the “far left smear machine,”and Garofalo took the opportunity to paint conservatives as angry racists who inspire violence from some of their non-intellectual followers. Garofalo: “The right wing has a way of always having an enemy, whether it be immigrants or Arabs or brown-skinned people, black-skinned people, homosexuals, women. They all, kind of, rally around an enemy, an other, that they can get mad at. And death does occur.”

After accusing conservative activist Grover Norquist of “handing out talking points” to a “right-wing machine,” and after mentioning former Vice President Cheney’s recent contention that President Obama’s policies would endanger the nation’s homeland security, Garofalo called the “personality type” that she claimed motivates some non-intellectual conservatives a “scourge” and an “unfortunate part of our society.” Garofalo: “A lot of the people in the right-wing base are not the most intellectual people in the world, not the most savvy people in the world, and they are definitely quick to anger, and quick to blame other people. … it’s a very sad, sad thing, and it’s part of the human nature of a personality type that tends to identify as Republican or conservative. And it’s an unfortunate part of our society. It’s a scourge on our society.” Olbermann concurred: “It is, indeed.”

Jeaneane, you two-faced Leftist tool! It does strike me as sadly ironic that Leftists like you are always trying to demean the intellect of Conservatives. I mean really, let’s take a peek at the ideology of the Left for a moment.

You buy into the junk science of global warming, or climate change, or whatever the Hell you are calling that mythical threat to our existence this week.

You claim that anyone who rejects climate change is rejecting science. Yet, you embrace abortion on demand despite mountains of legitimate scientific and medical evidence that it kills a human being.

You, the Leftists, still embrace the ideals of Karl Marx, I know you would say you do not, and that I do not know what Marxism is, but Jeaneane, Leftists DO embrace Marxist ideals. Let us make a list.

1- Many Leftists, particularly radical environmentalists loathe private property rights. One of the pillars of Marxism is an end to private propertry.

2- Many Leftists want more governmental rights and less  parental rights in the raising of children. Mandatory pre-kintergarten ring a bell? Take a stroll through the history of Marxist regimes and see how parental rights fared.

3- Leftist despise, and are constantly trying to erase gun rights and the most basic human right, the right to self-defense. Leftists love to lump ALL violence together, and label it as a bad thing. Self-defense is violent yes, but is a necessary violence that thwarts crime, and defends the innocent. Jeaneane, Stalin and other Communists disarmed their subjects. Hmmmm

4- Leftists are consistently campaigning to erase portions of history that offends them, or that they do not want taught. Stalin would LOVE you for that Jeaneane! He was famous for erasing opponents from photis and historical texts, as if they never existed.

5- Leftist LOATHE profits. It is odd that they don’t care how much anything costs, as long as no company makes “obscene” profits. Gas could cost $5 or$6 a gallon and the Left would beam, as long as that cost was from huge, punitive government taxes. But if gas is $2 or $3 a gallon, and an oil company makes a profit, then Leftists are outraged! A million acres of forest can burn and it is OK, but let a lumber company seek to harvest  trees, on land it will REPLANT, and the Left goes berserk! Again, HMMMM it seems that Marxism, was very opposed to profits and Capitalism. 

6- Freedom of speech is a buzzword the Left tosses around at every turn. They act as if they invented it and are its only protectors. But who invented political correctness Jeneane? Who invented free-speech zones on college campuses? Who tries to stop every Conservative who is invited to speak at a university? Who steals college newspapers that carry op-eds that the Left finds offensive? Who is trying to stamp out every public mention of God Jeaneane? Conservatives? Hardly! It is Leftists like YOU! Funny for all the Left’s cries that they are not Marxists, they certainly have a multitude of ideological similarities. HMMMM

One last thing Jeneane. A “greener” St. Patrick’s Day?

Hmmm, let me think, should I go green this year? Naw, not that the ideas are not presented in a humorous way, but, no thanks!

Well, St. Patrick’s Day is upon us. Can you think of a better time to throw a green party? Nope! You can’t. So here are some fun and easy ways to get started:

1. Drink local beer
It’s probably available down the street from you — and don’t tell me there isn’t local beer. Find something from your area with these handy maps from Beermapping.com, which will point you to breweries near you. Just deselect the other options like “beer bars,” and “homebrew stores.” I’ll probably fill up a reusable 64-ounce growler of some Kelso brew, or maybe something from Sixpoint Craft Ales — both breweries are about two miles from my apartment.

Thanks, but no, I am never really got into binging on St. Patrick’s Day anyway. I mean if you need an excuse to drink? You probably should not drink.
