I don’t know about you, but the idea of anyone in Washington fuming about fine print while they ram thousand-page bills through Congress that no one bothers to read is, well, triple-snort-worthy:
President Barack Obama asked Congress on Tuesday to create a new agency to police the fine print on consumer products like credit cards and mortgages and determine what fees, penalties and interest rates are fair.
The Consumer Financial Protection Agency would be in charge of regulating those products in the same way other government agencies regulate the safety of drugs, food and toys.
Obama said Americans are demanding it.
“Those ridiculous contracts with pages of fine print that no one can figure out—those things will be a thing of the past,” the president said in a statement accompanying the 152-page draft bill. “And enforcement will be the rule, not the exception.”
…Under the plan, lenders would be required to be up front about their products and compare them to less risky, “plain vanilla” options. The agency potentially could require a kind of warning label on such financial products as mortgages with payments that suddenly balloon in size.
Good freaking grief! These idiots cannot do anything right, yet theyare reaching deeper into our lives every day. How about they stop trying to micro-manage our lives and start reading what they vote on, after they all read the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION! Lord knows they could use a refresher course on that document!

Much has been written about the serious problems with socialized healthcare in Canada, as well as the major care issues in the UK – both places touted by leftist liar Michael Moore and other deceptive liberals in an effort to fool the American public on the so-called “benefits” of a public healthcare system. A click on that Liberty Page link will show you links galore about the long waits and substandard care received in some of the same countries singled out as “shining examples” of what the US healthcare system would look like “if only we would give it a chance.”
Yes, let’s have a debate on the US healthcare system, but dammit, can we for once get some honesty out of the Congressional left on this issue instead of scare tactics?
I’ll be the first to admit that there are issues with our healthcare system, but that doesn’t socialized, government-run healthcare is the answer. What is? Physician and Senator Tom Coburn just might have the answer with the Patients’ Choice Act, which you can read about here. The short versio of the plan can be read here.
See, she said that with great eloquence, because true eloquence requires substance and facts. And trust me Sister Toldjah is an eloquent, substantive, factual, and yes, beautiful woman.
Cap and Trade dissected!
Pat Austin has looked into the cap and tax perversion passed by the House the other day. What she found is a lot like a fat guy in a thong. NOT PRETTY!
And how will this bill affect you? It has regulations on every single aspect of your daily life. There are light bulb restrictions (no more than 60 watts in your candelabra); in fact there’s a whole section that deals with lamps. If you decide to build a new home, it must meet new and specific energy requirements. If you decide to sell your existing home, a federal inspector must inspect your home, determine it’s energy rating, and if your home is found to be unacceptable then you must retrofit and make changes before you will be able to sell.
There’s an entire section on planting trees including guidelines on “scientific based measurements outlining the species and minimum distance required between trees planted…in addition to the minimum required distance to be maintained between such trees and building foundations, air conditioning units, driveways and walkways…”. Do we really need the federal government telling us where we can plant trees?
All I can say is for God’s sake put some pants on that fat guy!
I have not witnessed a beating of this magnitude since….
Since my old dog Bo, a mix of English bulldog and Pit bull, think of the Mack Truck logo, and that would be Bo, locked his jaws onto another dog’s, er, well, let’s just say that Bo likely prevented that other dog from ever pro-creating. Anyway, since that beating that Bo, who was killed, sadly chasing a fire truck, he HATED sirens, delivered, I have not seen anyone receive such a thrashing. Until today that is.
Today, little Andy Sullivan, decided it would be a good idea to get on the wrong side R.S. McCain. I think Andy ought to remember the sage advice of the late singer Jim Croce who sang “You don’t pull the mask on the old Lone Ranger, and you don’t mes around with Jim”. Well, in your case Andy, R.S. McCain IS Jim.
By the way, lest anyone misunderstand about the late, great Bo, he was a swet dog, UNTIL another male dog came in his yard and messed with Bo’s people. In this case the dog in question, we will call him Andy Sullivan, acted in an unfriendly manner towards my little sister, BAD IDEA! Bo, was the ultimate Alpha-Male, a gentleman, unless you provoked him, then it was on!
Also, since I am comparing McCain’s thumping of Sullivan to other routs, I suggest you Google “Chancellorsvile”. There, Union general “Fightin” Joe Hooker, decided it would be a good idea to announce his intentions to destroy Lee’s Army of Nothern Virginia. It went very well for Hooker, until the fighting started. Instead of “ingloriously fleeing” as Hooker predicted, Lee attacked, and preceeded to deliver a beating of historical proportions.
Sullivan, though, should not feel too bad as he picks his teeth off the floor. R.S. McCain has smacked lots of Liberal hacks around, like Robert E. Lee out-generaled lots of Union commanders. McClellan, Pope, Burnside, Hooker, Grant, yes, he thouroughly out-generaled Grant, but lost what Lincoln called “the arithmetic”.
So, Andy, just learn from your beating, and stop picking fights with your betters.

Opponents of cap and trade “traitors” to Mother Earth?
So says noted Lefty Paul Krugman who is in full-scale Chicken Little mode!
And as I watched the deniers make their arguments, I couldn’t help thinking that I was watching a form of treason — treason against the planet.
To fully appreciate the irresponsibility and immorality of climate-change denial, you need to know about the grim turn taken by the latest climate research.
The fact is that the planet is changing faster than even pessimists expected: ice caps are shrinking, arid zones spreading, at a terrifying rate. And according to a number of recent studies, catastrophe — a rise in temperature so large as to be almost unthinkable — can no longer be considered a mere possibility. It is, instead, the most likely outcome if we continue along our present course.
Well, isn’t he stuck on panic mode! And he is not alone, as Hot Air points out, in his charges of treason again the planet! None other than the King of all Cap and Traders, Henry Waxman, AKA Nostrilsaurus Rex, is having a panic party of his own!
By the way, as you watch the video here, ask yourself when Democrats started thinking it OK to question people’s patriotism. I recall them wetting themselves when Conservatives did it. Oh well, Selective Outrage Syndrome strikes again.
Here is another question, since we are talking patriotism here. Is it patriotic to vote, for, or support a bill you have not read?

White House Tried To Prevent Honduran President’s Ouster – HOT AIR
Via Gateway Pundit. I understood The One’s logic for not wanting to meddle in Iran. I don’t understand his logic for wanting to meddle in Honduras.
Reaction to the apparent coup was swift. U.S. President Barack Obama said he was “deeply concerned” and called on all political actors in Honduras to “respect democratic norms, the rule of law and the tenets of the Inter-American Democratic Charter. Any existing tensions and disputes must be resolved peacefully through dialogue free from any outside interference,” he said.
The Obama administration worked in recent days to prevent President Zelaya’s ouster, a senior U.S. official said. The State Department, in particular, communicated to Honduran officials on the ground that President Obama wouldn’t support any non-democratic transfer of power in the Central American country.
“We had some indication” that a move against Mr. Zelaya was a foot, said a U.S. official briefed on the diplomacy. “We made it clear it was something we didn’t support.”
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Mr. Obama Sunday in criticizing the Honduran coup and calling for the restoration of the democratic process.
“We call on all parties in Honduras to respect the constitutional order and the rule of law, to reaffirm their democratic vocation, and to commit themselves to resolve political disputes peacefully and through dialogue,” Mrs. Clinton said in a statement.
Read Fausta’s amazing round-up of what happened here. In a nutshell, Zelaya wanted another term as president so he decided to hold a popular referendum on whether he should be eligible. Minor problem: The Honduran constitution can’t be amended by popular referendum so the country’s supreme court ordered the vote canceled. Zelaya tried to go ahead with it anyway. Literally every other arm of the Honduran government – judiciary, legislature, military – was against him, to the point where the troops who arrested him this morning were evidently acting on a court order. Why such strong, unified opposition? According to one retired Honduran general cited by Fausta, it’s because Zelaya’s a Chavez stooge and him staying on would mean “Chavez would eventually be running Honduras by proxy.”
Two questions, then. One: In their rush to drool all over themselves about “the rule of law,” do Obama and Hillary realize that it’s Zelaya who was flouting the rule of law here? I know The One’s a big believer in executive power but even he’d acknowledge that defying an order from the Supreme Court crosses the line (I think). And two: Why is Team Barry siding with Zelaya instead of simply staying out of it? The White House proved with Iran that they’re capable of maintaining very tactful silences for excruciatingly long periods of time. Yet today we’ve got not only the secretary of state but the president himself rushing out statements. Is this some kind of half-assed attempt to make nice with Chavez now that relations have been restored by supporting one of his cronies? What am I missing here?
Update: Yep, the military acted on a court order. It’s not clear to me, though, why they felt compelled to have Zelaya arrested and ousted considering that the rest of the government, including the army, was against him. Presumably his enemies feared that he’d win the illegal referendum if it went ahead and that would galvanize public support for changing the constitution. Although a coup’s going to have a galvanizing effect of its own, no?
Supreme Court Reverses Yet Another Sotomayor Ruling

She’s now been overturned 66% of the time by the Supreme Court.But, the radicals in the White House defended their radical choice for Supreme Court justice today anyway.
The Hill reported:The White House came to the defense of President Obama’s pick to be the newest Supreme Court justice after Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s ruling in a racially charged case was reversed by the Supreme Court.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs all but accused the current court of “judicial activism,” a buzz term used by conservatives in recent years, in overturning what the White House saw as Sotomayor’s upholding of precedent.
The highest court ruled Monday that a group of white firefighters in New Haven, Conn. were discriminated against after the city threw out a promotion test after one Hispanic and no African-Americans passed. Sotomayor ruled in favor of the city as an appeals court judge.
Republicans on Monday sought to use the case to question Sotomayor’s qualifications and buy more time before her confirmation hearings are set to begin on July 13.
But Gibbs said that the case “denotes that [Sotomayor] is a follower of precedent,” and the arguments over judicial activism “seem to be at the very least upside-down in this case.”
Gibbs said the case proves “she doesn’t legislate from the bench.”
Spinning like a top baby! The fact is, Obama’s pick is not qualified to be a judge period, much less a Supreme Court justice!

Former presidential candidate John Edwards is out of luck if he hoped that the extramarital affairs of Gov. Mark Sanford and Sen. John Ensign would take people’s minds off his own cheating scandal.
Former Edwards aide Andrew Young says the ex-senator and his former mistress, Rielle Hunter, once made a sex tape, according to someone who has seen Young’s book proposal.
St. Martin’s Press just inked a deal with Young, who also says in his proposal that, contrary to his public statement last year, he is not the father of Hunter’s infant daughter — Edwards is. Edwards has denied that.
Hmmm, a good title for a porn film starring America’s fakest politician. A couple of ideas.

Has been found in the Catacombs of Rome. Gateway Pundit has the story
The oldest known image of St. Paul was discovered recently on the walls of a catacomb in Rome.
Reuters reported:Vatican archaeologists using laser technology have discovered what they believe is the oldest image in existence of St Paul the Apostle, dating from the late 4th century, on the walls of catacomb beneath Rome.
Vatican newspaper Osservatore Romano, revealing the find on Sunday, published a picture of a frescoed image of the face of a man with a pointed black beard on a red background, inside a bright yellow halo. The high forehead is furrowed.
Wow, I love stories like this one.

What happens to experts whose scientific opinions contradict Global Warming or Climate Change, or whatever the latest incantation is? According to the Telegraph, their more politically correct brethren shut them out:

His signing of the Manhattan Declaration – a statement by 500 scientists that the causes of climate change are not CO2 but natural, such as changes in the radiation of the sun and ocean currents – was “inconsistent with the position taken by the PBSG”.
Imagine that. The Left has decided what is what about climate change, and dissent from scientists? Not helpful apparently. As Carol reveals later in her post, it is all bout green, as in money! And Red, as in Communism
Over 700 of the world’s top scientists disagree with the theory of climate change. In fact, far more oppose the current theory than support it. If those who favor the theory that global warming is man made are so confident in their position, why are they so opposed to debate? I say follow the money. There are those who stand to profit greatly and those who wish to see our free market destroyed. These two factions have joined forces and less we take a strong stand against this farce the consequences will be the devastation of our economy.

Polar bear numbers in Canada have increased in 11 of 13 regions in recent years.
Another report shows that polar bear encounters on the North Slope oil fields have risen to record levels the last two years. The global warming religionists blame the increase in polar bear sightings on shrinking ice flows. So, now the alarmists are blaming manmade global warming on both increased and decreased polar bear populations.

Michael Jackson will once again make music history next week as many of his albums are poised to shake up the Billboard charts with incredible sales increases. The impact of Jackson’s shock death on Thursday was felt immediately in the marketplace. Industry sources report that the demand for Jackson’s albums were so high, many stores simply ran out of his CDs.
The albums with the greatest sales increases — at least on the physical side of things — look to be his greatest hits packages “Number Ones” and “The Essential Michael Jackson” along with the expanded reissue of “Thriller.” The sets, released between 2003 and 2008, were the three Jackson albums that perhaps had the most stock available in stores.
US soccer team loses to Brazil 3-2
A herartbreaker of a loss. After gaining a 2-0 lead, they could not hold Brazil, losing 3-2. Overall a great effort though! Hats off to Tean USA!
