Lance is right, the Left is made up of people with highly suspect moal compasses. I call them morally retarded myself. Their outrage over what they call torture is highly selective. They only seem to care if America is doing it. Fact it, when WAS the last time you saw a bunch of Lefties protesting al Qaeda’s treatment of people? That’s right, NEVER! But, let an American soldier look cross-eyed at a Jihadi and it is OUTRAGEOUSLY OUTRAGEOUS OUTRAGE time!

Yes, Virginia, the Left hates free speech
Follow the logic if you can. The thousands of Americans USING their freedom of speech to protest big government and universal health care, are killing debate. Further, this “logic” holds that discussing things, kill the discussion! Pretty deluded isn’t it? Well, yes, and this is why Michael Kent Curtis is the Marxist Moron of the Day!
Organized mobs recently have disrupted public meetings. The mobs have shouted down congressmen, government officials and others who sought to discuss insurance reform and delivery of health care. Silencing speakers by mob action virtually eliminated discussion of these topics at meetings between citizens and congressmen and other officials. News reports cite evidence that lobbyists and partisan groups have suggested the tactics. If true, that is bad enough. But more basic issues are at stake.
Mob tactics have had two alarming effects. Mob rule and intimidation make it practically impossible for elected representatives and government officials to speak to their constituents. They also make it impossible for the citizen to hear and discuss what members of Congress have to say. The mobs obstruct the free speech right of the people to receive information and to discuss it. They obstruct the free speech right of the officials to engage in democratic dialogue. Mobs have also shouted down citizens who support stronger health care reform such as a single-payer system.
These mobs are attacking democratic free speech values. The news media and government officials have failed to point out clearly what is going on. Using organized mobs to prevent public discussion is not free speech. It is an attack on democracy and free speech. Democratic discussion of issues requires that all sides have a chance to speak and be heard. It absolutely requires that democratically elected officials be allowed to present their views to their constituents in an orderly way and to hear from citizens with a wide range of views.
Mob action to permit only one rather inarticulate view to be expressed attacks the civility at the heart of healthy democracy. It is a step short of physical violence to silence speech, but the effect is the same. It also suggests that the members of the mob fear that they cannot prevail in an open, civil discussion.
Go read the entire thing, but be warned. Your head might explode from the level of hypocrisy contained in it. Also, the level of historical ignorance is astounding. The fool writting this is out in left field without a glove.
Video-McCain booed
Senator McCain just does not get it. When asked if Obama rspected the constitution, McCain gave some “moderate” answer, and received the vocal displeasure from his audience.
Good for them! They get it, and shame on Senator McCain for not telling it like it is! Either he really belives his lame words, or, he is just playing the “Maverick” again. Either way, spare us senator!

Washington just doesn’t get it. Spending beyond our means is what got this country into trouble in this first place. Political gimmickry like Cash for (fill-in-the-blank) only exacerbates the root cause. Government has no business encouraging people to take out car loans or home loans — or buy new refrigerators or dishwashers — when they should be saving their money instead.
They don’t get it. Via Business Week:
A $300 million cash-for-clunkers-type federal program to boost sales of energy-efficient home appliances provides a glimmer of hope for beleaguered makers of washing machines and dishwashers, but it’s probably not enough to lift companies such as Whirlpool (WHR) and Electrolux out of the worst down cycle in the sector’s history.
Beginning late this fall, the program authorizes rebates of $50 to $200 for purchases of high-efficiency household appliances. The money is part of the broader economic stimulus bill passed earlier this year. Program details will vary by state, and the Energy Dept. has set a deadline of Oct. 15 for states to file formal applications. The Energy Dept. expects the bulk of the $300 million to be awarded by the end of November. (Unlike the clunkers auto program, consumers won’t have to trade in their old appliances.)
…Not surprisingly, appliance makers cheered the news. Electrolux spokesman Tony Evans calls the federal program a “great opportunity to encourage consumers to replace their old appliances.” Lately, cash-strapped consumers have chosen to repair, rather than replace, hobbled dishwashers and other water-intensive appliances, according to industry analysts. Electrolux says it is readying “aggressive” marketing programs that will run parallel with the rebates, and it’s reasonable to expect appliance makers and retailers will devise additional discounts to amplify the rebates’ appeal. “We will be ready to go when the new incentive programs hit the market,” Evans said.

A good example of how far off course Democrats in Congress have strayed on the issue of health care reform, are provisions in the Senate HELP Committee draft bill creating rules and regulations governing food disclosures at fast food restaurants and in vending machines.
Titled the Affordable Health Choices Act, the Senate draft bill amends the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act to require food nutritional disclosures at fast food restaurants, similar to the disclosures currently required on packaged food. Under section 325 of the Senate bill (starting at p. 399), any fast food chain with 20 locations and a standardized menu would have to display “in a clear and conspicuous manner” nutrition and calorie information. Honduras to Zelaya: You are still out!
I am sure the president will think this is bad, as will the “international community”, which means, of course, reasonable people should celebrate!
The White House breathed a sigh of relief when Costa Rica offered to broker a deal to resolve the standoff between the Honduran legislature and Supreme Court on one side and deposed president Manuel Zelaya on the other. Unfortunately for Obama, the court has rejected the proposed deal that would return Zelaya to Honduras by restating that they would order his arrest for crimes committed in office:
Honduras’s supreme court has rejected a Costa Rica-brokered deal to restore ousted President Manuel Zelaya to power and ordered his arrest if he returns.
The ruling also affirmed the legitimacy of the government of interim leader Roberto Micheletti. …
The court reminded Mr Zelaya that he faces several charges – including crimes against the government, treason, and abuse of power – and would be subject to trial if he re-entered the country.
It said Mr Micheletti’s government had been installed as part of a lawful “constitutional succession”.
Correspondents say Mr Micheletti is increasingly confident that he will be able to remain in power until elections at the end of November.
Glad to see some nations actually abiding by their constitutions! Maybe we can get back to ours someday!

Individuals and grass-roots organizations are helping the statists’ cause by advocating boycotts and other means of stifling dissent.
The strategy is clear: Intimidate people from speaking up or from attending public protests by telegraphing that anyone can be made a demon for standing up and exercising basic, constitutional rights.
To call these people hypocrites would be a grave insult to those who fail to live up to their own standards. Liberalism has never been about establishing a universal standard. Liberalism is simply intellectual cover for those wanting to gain political power and increase the size of the state.
For free-speech principles to be reinforced and free-market ideas to win the day, more people are going to have to stand up and be heard.
Mrs. Pelosi and the Whole Foods boycotters are on the wrong side of history.
The way to stand up to them is to go to “tea parties,” raise a ruckus at health care debates and – buy organic garlic, herb fresh goat cheese and three-bean salad with quinoa at your local Whole Foods store.

Obama to continue Bush interrogation program
The Left screamed that the Rendition program was horrible and Nazi-like didn’t they? They bashed Bush, they demonized Cheney, they wet their pants on a regular basis over the practice of sending terror suspects to other countrues for interrogation.
So, now, The Obamassiah is going to continue this program. I wonder how outraged the same Leftists will be? Hmmmm, do not expect a whole lot of coverage from the media, or outrage from the far left.

1,200 Veterans Wrongly Told They Got Fatal Disease – Breitbart
At least 1,200 veterans across the country have been mistakenly told by the Veterans Administration that they suffer from a fatal neurological disease.
One of the leaders of a Gulf War veterans group says panicked veterans from Alabama, Florida, Kansas, North Carolina, West Virginia and Wyoming have contacted the group about the error.
Denise Nichols, the vice president of the National Gulf War Resource Center, says the VA is blaming a coding error for the mistake.
Letters dated Aug. 12 were intended to notify veterans who have Lou Gehrig’s disease of disability benefits available to them.
Calls to the VA were not immediately returned Monday.
Lou Gehrig’s disease, or ALS, is a rapidly progressive disease that attacks the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscles.

VA Workers Given Millions In Bonuses As Vets Await Checks – CNN
While hundreds of thousands of disability claims lay backlogged at the Department of Veterans Affairs, thousands of technology employees at the department received $24 million in bonuses, a new report says.
A report issued by the VA’s Office of Inspector General said the department issued millions of dollars in awards over a two-year period in 2007 and 2008.
“The frequent and large dollar amount awards given to employees were unusual and often absurd,” the report stated.
The reports also called the payments “not fiscally responsible.”
Four high-level employees received about $60,000, $73,000, $58,000, and $59,000, respectively, according to the report, without sufficient justification. Another employee received a $4,500 performance award within the first 90 days of her employment from a manager who said that she did not even remember her.
The annual average award per employee was about $2,500 for both years, according to the report. About 4,700 awards and bonuses were issued in 2007, and about 5,000 in 2008.
The inspector general said one recently retired official, Jennifer S. Duncan, improperly approved numerous bonuses and “acted as if she was given a blank checkbook to write unlimited monetary awards.”
During the two years in question, Duncan received over $60,000 in bonuses, according to the report.
In addition, the report concluded that the Office of Information and Technology managers were fiscally irresponsible when authorizing nearly $140,000 in improper academic degree funding, some of which went to Duncan’s family and friends. The inspector general recommended the money be repaid.

Barack Obama already has had a tough time with seniors on the health-care reform initiative, and for good reasons. The latest news from Social Security won’t make them any happier about it. The Social Security administration has canceled cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) for the next two years, which means the fixed income on which these seniors rely will freeze at current levels. However, their Medicare premiums will still increase, which means they will get less money over the next two years, the first declines in SSA in more than 30 year.
Poll Shows Reid Would Lose To Either GOP Challenger – Las Vegas Review-Journal
It’s the highest stakes ever for a Nevada election, and former boxer Sen. Harry Reid is on the ropes early. Either Republican Danny Tarkanian or Sue Lowden would knock out Reid in a general election, according to a recent poll of Nevada voters.
The results suggest the Democratic Senate majority leader will have to punch hard and often in order to retain his position as the most accomplished politician in state history, in terms of job status.
Nevadans favored Tarkanian over Reid 49 percent to 38 percent and Lowden over Reid 45 percent to 40 percent, according to the poll.
Reid’s status makes him an icon of the Democratic Party and ties him to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and President Barack Obama, both of whom are losing ground among centrist and right-leaning voters in the country.
Winning “becomes more difficult when you are actually the one having to carry the water for the president,” said Richard Davis, a professor of political science at Brigham Young University in Utah. “He (Reid) has got to get something out of the Obama administration that he can claim as his own.”

Jeff Poor, writing at Newsbusters, reports on Garafalo’s appearance Friday at an event in which she blasts Tea Party protesters as “functionally retarded adults…” and “racists.” She goes on to explain that whenver a protester says “I want my country back” what “they’re really saying is, ‘I want my white guy back.’ They apparently had no problem at all for the last eight years of habeas corpus being suspended, the Constitution being [expletive] on, illegal surveillance, lied to on a war or two, two stolen elections – yes, the John Kerry one was stolen too.”
It’s not even worth it to go through that and dissemble her jibberish.
