Oh Europe, how far into madness have you sunk? This far!
It could be construed as a black day for the English language — but not if you work in the public sector.
Dozens of quangos and taxpayer-funded organisations have ordered a purge of common words and phrases so as not to cause offence.
Among the everyday sayings that have been quietly dropped in a bid to stamp out racism and sexism are “whiter than white”, “gentleman’s agreement”, “black mark” and “right-hand man”.
The Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission has advised staff to replace the phrase “black day” with “miserable day”, according to documents released under freedom of information rules.
It points out that certain words carry with them a “hierarchical valuation of skin colour”. The commission even urges employees to be mindful of the term “ethnic minority” because it can imply “something smaller and less important”.
The National Gallery in London believes that the phrase “gentleman’s agreement” is potentially offensive to women and suggests that staff should replace it with “unwritten agreement” or “an agreement based on trust” instead. The term “right-hand man” is also considered taboo by the gallery, with “second in command” being deemed more suitable.
Many institutions have urged their workforce to be mindful of “gender bias” in language. The Learning and Skills Council wants staff to “perfect” their brief rather than “master” it, while the Newcastle University has singled out the phrase “master bedroom” as being problematic.
Advice issued by the South West Regional Development Agency states: “Terms such as ‘black sheep of the family’, ‘black looks’ and ‘black mark’ have no direct link to skin colour but potentially serve to reinforce a negative view of all things black. Equally, certain terms imply a negative image of ‘black’ by reinforcing the positive aspects of white.
Are they really this stupid? This obsessed with hypersensitivity? How long until no one can speak at their job? How long till everyone is speaking in the scripted fashion of attorneys and politicians? Good freaking grief!

Apparently, lawyers from Anti-Christian Leftists United have been helping their jihadists allies, not merely by trying to free terrorists so that they can kill Americans, but by providing terrorists with the identities and photographs of CIA officers:
The Justice Department recently questioned military defense attorneys at Guantanamo Bay about whether photographs of CIA personnel, including covert officers, were unlawfully provided to detainees charged with organizing the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, according to sources familiar with the investigation.
Investigators are looking into allegations that laws protecting classified information were breached when three lawyers showed their clients the photographs, the sources said. The lawyers were apparently attempting to identify CIA officers and contractors involved in the agency’s interrogation of al-Qaeda suspects in facilities outside the United States, where the agency employed harsh techniques.
Well, there you go! Do we need a clearer example of what the ACLU is all about? And it points out the folly of trying terrorists in our courts!

I really, really hope it’s not true that the ACLU has hired people to take pictures of covert CIA agents and showing them to Gitmo detainees. This isn’t a case of photographers waiting outside Gitmo with huge telephoto lenses like a bunch of UFO hunters outside Area 51. In some cases, the ACLU’s people took photos of the agents at their own homes.
If it is true, then the ACLU has committed an act of espionage, and I really have no idea whether they did it out of malice or galaxy-sized ignorance and arrogance.

Isn’t that just special, and sadly typical for the far Left? But, I do not question their patriotism, they are traitors, and I hope there is a special place in Hell for them! Period!

Victims’ Families Decry Release Of Lockerbie Bomber – Fox News
The families of the victims of the 1988 Lockerbie bombing decried the decision to release the Libyan terrorist convicted of killing 270 people, calling it one of the most “heartbreaking” injustices the world has ever seen.
Scotland’s justice minister announced Thursday that Abdel Baset al-Megrahi – the sole person convicted in the December 1988 midair bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 – is freed from a Scottish prison on compassionate grounds.
Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill said the former Libyan secret service agent, who was serving a life sentence, has terminal prostrate cancer and is allowed to die in his homeland – despite protests from the U.S. and victims’ families.
The private jet of Libya’s leader, Muammar al-Qaddafi, collected al-Megrahi at Glasgow Airport after his release Thursday.
“I cannot imagine having compassion for a mass murderer and terrorist who killed 270 people,” said Susan Cohen of Cape May Court House, N.J., whose 20-year-old daughter, Theodora, died in the blast. “My daughter is dead. She is the one who deserves compassion.”
“The Scots have folded very cowardly,” she said. “The only sliver of justice we had was al-Megrahi – and now we don’t even have that.”

US Women Protest For The Right To Bare – Register
American women are preparing for protests this weekend against laws which allow men to remove their shirts in public, but treat women who do the same as guilty of misdemeanour.
The action will take place on Sunday 23 August when, according to the gotopless website (PNSFW), “topless women will rally in great numbers across the USA to protest this gross inequality in the law and will demand that they be granted the fundamental right to be topless where men already enjoy that right according to the 14th amendment of the Constitution”.
The event is timed to coincide with the month in which the US constitution was amended to grant women the right to vote, and while bound to cause some amusement, there are grave stories behind it.
Nation Gets 10-Day Break From Annoying Obama Speeches
President Barack Obama left the White House on Friday for a 10-day vacation, taking with him the beloved family dog and leaving behind an acrimonious debate about a proposed overhaul of the nation’s health care system.
Obama left the White House’s South Lawn by Marine helicopter early in the afternoon for the presidential retreat at Maryland’s Camp David. He and his family then head on Sunday morning to Massachusetts’ Martha’s Vineyard, where they will stay at a private 28-acre estate that rents for $35,000 a week. They are expected to keep mostly to themselves.

Three States Get 66 Percent Of Bailout – Atlantic
The Bailout Is Big. But, Where Exactly Is It Going?
Thanks to the efforts of ProPublica, we can track bailout funds by state. The map below, based on their data, shows the geographic distribution of bailout spending. (click to enlarge)
The bailout is massively concentrated in just a few states. Total bailout funding, according to the ProPublica data, is $476.5 billion to date. One state, New York, has captured $175 billion of that, more than a third. Michigan is next with $80.7 billion or 17 percent of the total, followed by North Carolina with $56.3 billion, Virginia with $54.9 billion, and California with $34.4 billion. The top three states accounted for 66 percent of bailout spending; the top five 84 percent; and the top two more than 10 percent.
How does the geography of the bailout look when we control for the size of state economies – say, by population and economic output? With the number-crunching help of Ronnie Sanders and map-making assistance of Scott Pennington, both of the Martin Prosperity Institute, we decided to take a look.
The second map shows the geography of bailout funding per person. The average per state, excluding the District of Columbia and based on the ProPublica data, is $1,570.34 bailout dollars per person. Again, two states dominate the tally – New York, where the bailout adds up to $8,978.83 per person, and Michigan where it’s $8,067.28. There are just five additional states where bailout funds top $1,000 per person: Virginia ($7,044.47), North Carolina ($6.104.69), Minnesota ($1,379.21), Connecticut ($1,085.33), and Iowa ($1,065.76). The third map shows the geography of the bailout as a percent of state economic output or gross state product. The bailout, again based on the ProPublica data, was three percent of total state output, with each state on average receiving 1.8 percent of its GDP. Michigan takes the top spot here, with bailout funds equivalent to a whopping 21.1 percent of its total economic output. New York is next at 15.3 percent; followed by North Carolina, 14.1 percent; and Virginia, 13.8 percent. No other state received bailout funding that was more than three percent of its output. By any measure, the bailout has been massively concentrated geographically.

Obama Hits Record Low In Zogby Poll – News Max
President Barack Obama’s popularity has plummeted to a record low, with just 45 percent of voters now approving of his performance, according to the latest Zogby International poll.
Asked whether they approve or disapprove of the president’s job performance, just 45.3 percent of likely voters say they approve. That compares with 50.5 percent who disapprove of the job Obama is doing.
The results are a strong indication that contentious national debate over healthcare reform has taken a major toll on the president’s popularity.
Those numbers also indicate that Obama clearly is in serious political trouble, Fox News analyst and best-selling author Dick Morris tells Newsmax.
“As soon as Obama dropped below 52 percent… he was leaking real voters who had backed him in November,” Morris tells Newsmax. “Now that he is down to 45 percent among likely voters… he is in deep political trouble.”
Of greatest concern to Obama may well be his decline among all-important independent voters. Just 37.5 percent of self-identified independents say they approve of how Obama is handling the presidency. That compares with 59.2 percent of independents who disapprove.

Erick Erickson at RedState says the DNC admits Barack Obama was collecting information on people via Flag@Whitehouse.gov:
“Trying to deflect attention from the White House invading people’s privacy, the Democratic National Committee is making real news by admitting flag@whitehouse.gov was used to collect data on people being turned in by third parties.”
The problem isn’t that the White House was collecting data on people who knowingly leave their names and contact information, typically because they want to be contacted. Most websites do that and anyone who leaves personal information is aware of it. The problem is that the White House was collecting information about people who, without their knowledge, were being reported by someone else.
Like I said, those rat bastards!
