My name is Alan Grayson, and I am an asshole
Listening to the many outbursts by Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson, one could easily imagine a need for Grayson to join a 12-step progran to help with his anger, and inability to behave like anything but a jerk. The latest jewel to escape Grayson’s lips comes from a radio interview he did a month ago. Apparently even his fellow Democrats are tired of his bullying tactics
Republicans and Democrats slammed Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) for calling Linda Robertson, an adviser to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, a “K Street whore” in a month-old radio interview that circulated on Capitol Hill Monday night.
“There’s no call for that language. No call for it. That’s absurd. If he was standing here now, I’d say that to him,” said Rep. Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.)
“He’s out of control,” added Washington Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who is vice chairwoman of the House Republican Conference.
The remarks are the latest to surface in a string of controversial statements by Grayson, who said on the Alex Jones radio show that he believes Robertson, a former Enron lobbyist, is not qualified to pass judgment on intricate financial matters.
It’s clear that his colleagues’ opinion of him has suffered.
“Is this news to you that this guy’s one fry short of a Happy Meal?” asked Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.)
Michelle wonders why President Obama recently referred to Grayson as an “outstanding member of Congress”
You know Michelle, I would be interested to know why too. Obama must approve of Grayson’s rants. There is certainly no way Grayson’s mean-spirited remarks have escaped Obama’s attention. So, apparently Obama endorses Grayson’s thuggish ravings.
Must read from Thomas Sowell
Thomas Sowell has a brilliant, and important piece out today. It is called Dismantling America A small sample
Just one year ago, would you have believed that an unelected government official, not even a Cabinet member confirmed by the Senate but simply one of the many “czars” appointed by the President, could arbitrarily cut the pay of executives in private businesses by 50 percent or 90 percent?
Did you think that another “czar” would be talking about restricting talk radio? That there would be plans afloat to subsidize newspapers– that is, to create a situation where some newspapers’ survival would depend on the government liking what they publish?
Be sure to read the whole column, it will, or at least should make anyone rading it rethink Obama’s agenda. I will give you one more taste of Sowell at his best, raising the very same point I recently raised about the radicals surrounding Obama through his life.
Among the people appointed as czars by President Obama have been people who have praised enemy dictators like Mao, who have seen the public schools as places to promote sexual practices contrary to the values of most Americans, to a captive audience of children.
Those who say that the Obama administration should have investigated those people more thoroughly before appointing them are missing the point completely. Why should we assume that Barack Obama didn’t know what such people were like, when he has been associating with precisely these kinds of people for decades before he reached the White House?
Nothing is more consistent with his lifelong patterns than putting such people in government– people who reject American values, resent Americans in general and successful Americans in particular, as well as resenting America’s influence in the world.
As I wrote here
Like I have opined before, the excessive number of radical, anti-American, pro-Mao, far Left nuts that have ties to Obama is too strong to ignore. It is clear that they are representative of what Obama believes, and of where his ideology lies. These are not people that once spoke to Obama or who shared a cab with him once. These are people who are in his past, are his friends, are in his adminstration, and who he continues to appoint to key positions.
They ARE who Obama is.
Yes, Obama is, indeed, what he is. And that is very bad for America, and her values.
Sister Toldjah is seeing things
And that is a good thing. Because what she is seeing is, while hard to believe, quite positive!
Somebody apparently didn’t get their DNC talking points:
WASHINGTON (AP) – Quick quiz: What do these enterprises have in common? Farm and construction machinery, Tupperware, the railroads, Hershey sweets, Yum food brands and Yahoo? Answer: They’re all more profitable than the health insurance industry. In the health care debate, Democrats and their allies have gone after insurance companies as rapacious profiteers making “immoral” and “obscene” returns while “the bodies pile up.”
Ledgers tell a different reality. Health insurance profit margins typically run about 6 percent, give or take a point or two. That’s anemic compared with other forms of insurance and a broad array of industries, even some beleaguered ones.
Profits barely exceeded 2 percent of revenues in the latest annual measure. This partly explains why the credit ratings of some of the largest insurers were downgraded to negative from stable heading into this year, as investors were warned of a stagnant if not shrinking market for private plans.
Insurers are an expedient target for leaders who want a government-run plan in the marketplace. Such a public option would force private insurers to trim profits and restrain premiums to compete, the argument goes. This would “keep insurance companies honest,” says President Barack Obama.
The debate is loaded with intimations that insurers are less than straight, when they are not flatly accused of malfeasance.
They may not have helped their case by commissioning a report that looked primarily at the elements of health care legislation that might drive consumer costs up while ignoring elements aimed at bringing costs down. Few in the debate seem interested in a true balance sheet.
But in pillorying insurers over profits, the critics are on shaky ground. A look at some claims, and the numbers:
This isn’t unlike the left’s war against so-called “Big Oil” in which all they talk about is the “massive profits” Big Oil takes in … without mentioning how Big Oil pays double that amount in taxes every year. It’s classic leftist strategy: Come up with an idea to “resolve” a “problem” they’ve inflated to extreme distortion and in the process, demonize the alleged “causes” of that problem to death in order to rally Average Joes around to their way of thinking.
Like I said, give AP credit here, for not just asking how much Obama water they can carry.
Predator Drones wreaking havoc on terrorist leaders
Via Weasel Zippers
Frontpage The Pakistani army’s campaign in South Waziristan got a boost this week when an American drone attack eliminated an important al Qaeda operative.Dawn, reported that the high-ranking terrorist, Mustafa al-Yazid, an al Qaeda founding member, was killed by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). It was the first drone attack since the Pakistani army began its offensive into the jihadists’ South Waziristan stronghold last weekend.Predator drone, and its larger Reaper version, has been credited with creating conditions favourable for the long-awaited invasion. A retired Pakistani army colonel analysing Operation-i-Nijaat (Path to Salvation), the army’s name for the Waziristan campaign, wrote that the command structure of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was “in disarray” due to the deaths these unmanned missile strikes have caused among its leadership.
I figured an uplifting post would be nice.
Please support Valour-IT
I have joined an effort to help raise money to help wounded Marines The Valour -IT Blog is located here The Facebook page is here. Valour-IT is a project of Soldiers Angels, their Facebook page can be found here
You can donate, or join one of the teams, The DaleyGator is on the Marine Team, right here The Marines Team page is found here.
The story of Valour-IT can be read right here.
Project Valour-IT began when Captain Charles “Chuck” Ziegenfuss was wounded by an IED while serving as commander of a tank company in Iraq in June 2005.
During his deployment he kept a blog (an online personal diary, opinion forum, or news analysis site-called a milblog or military weblog when written by a servicemember or about military subjects). Captivating writing, insightful stories of his experiences, and his self-deprecating humor won him many loyal readers. After he was wounded, his wife continued his blog, keeping his readers informed of his condition.
As he began to recover, CPT Ziegenfuss wanted to return to writing his blog, but serious hand injuries hampered his typing. When a loyal and generous reader gave him a copy of the Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred software, other readers began to realize how important such software could be to CPT Ziegenfuss’ fellow wounded soldiers and started cast about for a way to get it to them.
A fellow blogger (blog author) who writes under the pseudonym FbL contacted Captain Ziegenfuss and the two realized they shared a vision of providing laptops with voice-controlled software to wounded soldiers whose injuries prevented them from operating a standard computer. FbL contacted Soldiers Angels, who offered to help develop the project, and Project Valour-IT was born.
In sharing their thoughts, CPT Ziegenfuss (now a Major) and FbL found that memories of their respective fathers were a motivating factor in their work with the project. Both continue their association with this project in memory of the great men in their lives whose fine examples taught them lasting lessons of courage and generosity.
In the years since its founding in 2005, the project has acted to meet emerging needs and its mission of supporting the the severely wounded has expanded. In addition to voice-controlled laptops, Valour-IT now helps provide active and whole-body video games such as Wii Sports, which is used to great effect in physical therapy, and personal GPS systems that help compensate for short-term memory loss and organizational/spacial challenges common in those with brain injuries.
Health care mandates, what would Jefferson and Madison say?
What would they say indeed? Hot Air provides the answer that the likes of Pelosi will not.
As the CBO noted in this 1993 analysis, there has never been a federal mandate for residence to buy any product, let alone one from a private industry heavily regulated by the government. The Constitution does not grant Congress that power, and the Tenth Amendment strictly limits the federal government’s powers to those enumerated in the Constitution. Some dismiss the Tenth Amendment as a “truism” rather than a fact of constitutional law in order to dismiss the entire point of the document — which was precisely intended to prevent the federal government from assuming dictatorial power over the states and individual citizens.
I’ll close with explanations of “general welfare” from James Madison and Thomas Jefferson, two men who led the effort that produced the Constitution, and its close connection to enumerated powers and their limitations:
Money cannot be applied to the General Welfare, otherwise than by an application of it to some particular measure conducive to the General Welfare. Whenever, therefore, money has been raised by the General Authority, and is to be applied to a particular measure, a question arises whether the particular measure be within the enumerated authorities vested in Congress. If it be, the money requisite for it may be applied to it; if it be not, no such application can be made. (James Madison, via Quoty)
[O]ur tenet ever was, and, indeed, it is almost the only landmark which now divides the federalists from the republicans, that Congress has not unlimited powers to provide for the general welfare, but were to those specifically enumerated; and that, as it was never meant they should raise money for purposes which the enumeration did not place under their action; consequently, that the specification of powers is a limitation of the purposes for which they may raise money. (Thomas Jefferson, via Quoty)
If Congress can do whatever in their discretion can be done by money, and will promote the General Welfare, the Government is no longer a limited one, possessing enumerated powers, but an indefinite one, subject to particular exceptions. (James Madison, Letter to Edmund Pendleton, January 21, 1792 Madison 1865, I, page 546)
How far removed from these brilliant men are our current “leaders”? Way too far I fear. They have forgotten the Constitution. And that is terrifying. The Constitution is there to constrain government, thus protecting our liberties. Liberties I remind you that come not from government, but from God. The founders recognized where liberty comes from, and put in place a document to protect those liberties from government. They saw government as a sort of necessary evil. One that must be held strictly in check. When government, or its agents, refuse to abide by our Constitution, then every liberty that is ours is in grave peril. We, the people hold every right to throw out politicians who dishonor the Constitution, and we must be dilligent in our efforts to jealously defend our rights.
Without a return to constitutional government, that is a government which follows that document, our nation is doomed to fall, eventually, into the abyss of tyranny. This is why we must fight, not only to throw back the current attempts to subvert our rights, but to elect ONLY those politicians who will do their DUTY, and abide by our Constitution.
Can anyone explain this?
One of the Left’s favorite causes is the envirionment. They usually blast capitalism, and America for raping the earth, for pollution, etc. They also tend to be very Marxist in the solutions they call for to “heal the earth”. So, given these facts, please explain why the environmental left never mentions how China, a Marxist nation, treats the earth?
In an Award-Winning Photo Essay, photographer Lu Guang documents the toll of pollution on Communist China, (the country much-admired by Neo-Marxists like the New York Times Thomas Friedman and Professional Teleprompter Reader B. Hussein Obama.) The photos below are just a few from a large collection.
So, is it a clean earth, or Marxism they seek? Look at the photos carefully folks, and ask that question again. I think we all KNOW the answer.
Now why didn’t I think of that?
Carol at No Sheeples dubs noted Douchebag Alan Grayson a deranged attention whore, which pretty much sums him up.
The prickly, chattering ghoul, Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL), who took to the floor of the House of Representatives last month to attack the GOP health care plan by bleating, “Don’t get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly,” went on the attack again.
Grayson is a former lawyer. Undoubtedly an ambulance chaser, Grayson appears to have a predilection for all things ghoulish.
Following former Vice President Dick Cheney’s criticism of President Rollover’s Administration in which he said, “The White House must stop dithering while America’s armed forces are in danger. Make no mistake, signals of indecision out of Washington hurt our allies and embolden our adversaries,” the horrid little dweeb insinuated that Cheney was a vampire with this banter, “I have trouble listening to what [Cheney] says sometimes because of the blood that drips from his teeth while he’s talking. But my response is this: he’s just angry because the president doesn’t shoot old men in the face. But by the way, when he was done speaking, did he just then turn into a bat and fly away?”
Isn’t a lawyer like a vampire?
Well said Carol! Well said! All I can add is to call Grayson a big fat doodyhead, but I won’t.
Team Obama just gets more radical all the time
The latest comes from The Washington Times
Another day, another Obama nominee who doesn’t appear to love America. Another nominee who thinks the United States is inherently racist. Another nominee who thinks that judges should let their “ethnic and racial background” have an effect on how they conduct their trials. President Obama’s radicalization of American government needs to be stopped.
In this case, the nominee is Northern California federal district court nominee Edward Chen, forwarded by the Senate Judiciary Committee to the full Senate last Friday on a party-line vote. Mr. Chen is currently a federal magistrate in San Francisco, and a lawyer long active with the American Civil Liberties Union before that.
Judge Chen’s words speak for themselves. When the congregation sang “America the Beautiful” at a funeral, Judge Chen told the audience of his “feelings of ambivalence and cynicism when confronted with appeals to patriotism – sometimes I cannot help but feel that there are too much [sic] injustice and too many inequalities that prevent far too many Americans from enjoying the beauty extolled in that anthem.”
In a speech on Sept. 22, 2001, he said that among his first responses to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America was a “sickening feeling in my stomach about what might happen to race relations and religious tolerance on our own soil. … One has to wonder whether the seemingly irresistible forces of racism, nativism and scapegoating which has [sic] recurred so often in our history can be effectively restrained.”
Like I have opined before, the excessive number of radical, anti-American, pro-Mao, far Left nuts that have ties to Obama is too strong to ignore. President Crybaby Fails In Cowardly Attempt To Ban Fox News From Feinberg Interview
White House Loses Bid To Exclude Fox News From Pay Czar Interview – Fox News
The Obama administration on Thursday failed in its attempt to manipulate other news networks into isolating and excluding Fox News, as Republicans on Capitol Hill stepped up their criticism of the hardball tactics employed by the White House.
The Obama administration on Thursday tried to make “pay czar” Kenneth Feinberg available for interviews to every member of the White House pool except Fox News. The pool is the five-network rotation that for decades has shared the costs and duties of daily coverage of the presidency.
But the Washington bureau chiefs of the five TV networks consulted and decided that none of their reporters would interview Feinberg unless Fox News was included.
The administration relented, making Feinberg available for all five pool members and Bloomberg TV.
The pushback came after White House senior adviser David Axelrod told ABC News’ “This Week” on Sunday that Fox News is not a real news organization and other news networks “ought not to treat them that way.”
Media analysts cheered the decision to boycott the Feinberg interview unless Fox News was included, saying the administration’s gambit was taking its feud with Fox News too far. President Obama has already declined to go on “Fox News Sunday,” even while appearing on the other Sunday shows.
“I’m really cheered by the other members saying “No, if Fox can’t be part of it, we won’t be part of it,’” said Baltimore Sun TV critic David Zurawik, calling the move to limit Feinberg’s availability “outrageous.”
“What it’s really about to me is the Executive Branch of the government trying to tell the press how it should behave. I mean, this democracy — we know this — only works with a free and unfettered press to provide information,” he said.
Fox News legal analyst Peter Johnson Jr. said the administration was potentially in violation of the Constitution with its attempt to restrict access to the “eyes and ears” of the country.
“What was averted was a very serious constitutional violation by the White House,” Johnson said. “There cannot be selective and arbitrary access to the White House based on some subjective determination.”
Man Admits Drunk Driving In La-Z-Boy Chair – Sky News
A man has pleaded guilty to an unusual motoring offence – driving his pimped-up La-Z-Boy chair while drunk.

Dennis LeRoy Anderson, 62, attempted to travel home from a bar in Proctor, Minnesota, in the comfort of his motorised reclining seat after drinking several beers.
On the way he crashed the chair, which was powered by a lawnmower engine and had its own steering system, into a parked car.
Police tested his blood alcohol levels and found they were more than three times the legal limit.
He was not seriously injured in the incident, which happened in August 2008.
The luxury chair, which could reach top speeds of between 15 and 20mph, was even customised with a stereo and cup holders, the Duluth News Tribune said.
Police in Proctor now plan to sell it off at an auction with other forfeited items, the paper added.
Anderson has been sentenced to two years’ probation for drink driving.
