Cat Makes Difference In Deportation Case – UPI
A Bolivian man was spared deportation by a British court that ruled sending him home would interfere with his family life — with his cat.
The Asylum and Immigration Tribunal ruled the man, whose name was not reported, could remain in Britain after he told the judges his joint ownership of a cat with his girlfriend was evidence he was settled in the country, the Daily Mail reported Monday.
The tribunal said in its ruling that deporting the man would violate his human rights by interfering with his family life.
The ruling has drawn fire from anti-immigration campaigners.
“Drawing pets into the consideration of issues of such importance is so utterly absurd that you could not make it up,” said Andrew Green of the think tank Migrationwatch. “This is symptomatic of the attitude held by many of the judiciary, which is complete disregard for the impact of such decisions on the future of our community.”
Man Staged Nearly 100 Car Crashes In Cash Scam – Reuters
A Briton who cost the insurance industry some 1.6 million pounds by staging almost 100 car crashes as part of a scam to win fraudulent payouts, was jailed for 4-1/2 years on Wednesday.
Mohammed Patel, 24, charged 500 pounds a time to stage accidents which enabled fraudsters to claim an average of 17,000 pounds from their insurers.
Police said he staged at least 92 crashes between 2005 and 2008, each time persuading the other driver to believe they were at fault.
The plot was uncovered after workers in an office block by the main A34 road in Cheadle, near Manchester, became suspicious about a regular number of crashes taking place at a nearby roundabout.
AXA insurance, one of the firms caught up in the scam, investigated and contacted police. Detectives found that Patel deliberately caused crashes for his clients by braking suddenly so the vehicle behind could not avoid a collision.

Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –

Enjoy the post-racial present, where a African-American Attorney General reporting to a mixed-race President can tell a majority-black community that they are too dumb to vote in their own self-interest.
Voters in this small city decided overwhelmingly last year to do away with the party affiliation of candidates in local elections, but the Obama administration recently overruled the electorate and decided that equal rights for black voters cannot be achieved without the Democratic Party. The Justice Department’s ruling, which affects races for City Council and mayor, went so far as to say partisan elections are needed so that black voters can elect their “candidates of choice” – identified by the department as those who are Democrats and almost exclusively black.
The department ruled that white voters in Kinston will vote for blacks only if they are Democrats and that therefore the city cannot get rid of party affiliations for local elections because that would violate black voters’ right to elect the candidates they want.
Let me ask this. Why in the Hell do Blacks continue to vote overwhelmingly for Democrats? Why not support a party that sees you and NOT your skin color?

Believe it. It establishes a president of Europe (with wiggly ferret Tony Blair as the leading candidate), and wider powers to a European parliament. It makes European Union treaties, contracts, charters, and whatnot all legally binding for member nations. And while there is no official requirement for member states to ditch their individual flags, it does require that they adopt the EU flag and swear allegiance to it (underneath their own, of course, but still).
Sounds like something a Ldeftist would dream up. More centralization, no more national sovereignty, and we all know where that path leads.
