I gotta say, I sure wish I had had written this description of the abomination the Senate shoved down Our chimnneys on Christmas Eve. But, I hand it to Steyn, great summation sir!
The monstrous mountain of toxic pustules sprouting from greasy boils metastasizing from malign carbuncles that passed the Senate on Christmas Eve is not the last word in “health” “care,” but the first. It ensures that this is all we’ll be talking about, now and forever.
Absolutely spot on! Read it all, and take heed, Steyn is, unlike Obama, Reid, and the Democrats, a wise man. He sees whatn is coming because he applies common sense, and a healthy knowledge of history, rather than blind, emotionalistic ideology.

How do idiots like Janet Napolitano ever make it to positions of authority? Seriously?
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano said that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up the Amsterdam-Detroit flight this week demonstrated that “the system worked.”.
Asked by CNN’s Candy Crowley on “State of the Union” how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who sought to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the flight, Napolitano responded: “We’re asking the same questions
Yikes! First she says that they system worked, but, then admits they do not know how it failed. And yes, Janet, when a nutcase takes a freaking bomb on a freaking airplane, and almost detonates it, almost kills nearly three hundred people, then YES JANET, THE SECURITY SCREENING FAILED!
Again, how does a mental midget like this get a job anywhere, much less as head of Homeland Security?

Officials now say tragedy was only averted on Northwest flight 253 because a makeshift detonator failed to work properly.
Bomb experts say there was more than enough explosive to bring down the Northwest jet, which had nearly 300 people aboard, had the detonator not failed, and the nation’s outdated airport screening machines may need to be upgraded.
“We’ve known for a long time that this is possible,” said Richard Clarke, former counterterrorism czar and ABC News consultant, “and that we really have to replace our scanning devices with more modern systems.”
So, unless Napolitano heads a secret Failed Detonators Department, the stystem failed, and only luck saved three hundred lives. It damn sure was not DHS.

The U.S. has “no indication” that an attempted bombing of a Northwest Airlines flight was part of a larger plot by a terrorist group, a top Obama administration official said.
“Right now we have no indication that it is part of anything larger, but obviously the investigation continues,” Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said on CNN’s “State of the Union” program on Sunday.Right. But what of the connections to al-Qaeda in Yemen?
Authorities say the 23-year-old suspect spent months in Yemen being trained for the Christmas Day suicide mission.
Investigators believe Abdulmutallab was connected to al Qaeda by the same radical imam, American-born Anwar Awlaki, who is linked to the American Army major accused of opening fire at Fort Hood in November.
According to investigators, the bomb . . . was built in Yemen by a top al Qaeda bomb maker. . . .This is incompatible with Napolitano’s claim on CNN that this was not “part of anything larger.” One cannot train with al-Qaeda under the influence of a radical imam, and utilize an exploisve designed by al-Qaeda, without being part of something larger

A second Nigerian man was been taken into custody aboard a jetliner in Detroit after locking himself in the airliner’s bathroom, The Associated Press reported.
A law enforcement official told the AP that the incident took place aboard the same Northwest flight that was attacked on Christmas Day.
Yeah, no connection, none at all I am sure! Just move along folks, and be sure to look out for those Right Wing Extremists, they are the real menace!

Abdulmutallab, 23, had lived a gilded life, and, for the three years he studied in London, he stayed in a £2m flat. He was from a very different background to many of the other al-Qa’ida recruits who opt for martyrdom.

Nigerian newspapers reported that Abdulmutallab’s father, who lives in Katsina, Nigeria, had informed the US embassy of his son’s activities because he had become so concerned about his religious views.
A source said Dr Mutallab was “devastated” at the news but also “surprised” his son had been allowed to travel after he had reported him to the authorities. Abdulmutallab had allegedly become noted for his extreme religious views when he was at the British International School in Togo, where he is said to have preached Islam to his friends.
An official briefing on the attack said the US had known for at least two years that the suspect could have terrorist ties. Abdulmutallab has been on a list that included people with known or suspected contacts or ties to a terrorist or terrorist organisation. The list is maintained by the US National Counterterrorism Center and includes about 550,000 names.
Major Hasan was somehow kept in the U.S. Army, this guy is allowed to fly? Can someone explain this to me? Because, I gotta tell you, as someone who works at an airport, I am feeling less “secure” all the time. What sort of incompetents are in charge? What are their top priorities? Being “PC”? Or being vigilant?
Urban Meyer resigns as Gators coach
I am stunned, shocked, and generally speechless at the news that Florida Gators coach Urban Meyer has decided to step down due to health reasons.
Florida coach Urban Meyer, who was admitted to a hospital because of chest pains following the Southeastern Conference championship game, is stepping down because of health concerns.
Meyer resigned Saturday, calling it quits after five seasons in Gainesville and two national titles. He leaves Florida with a 56-10 record that includes a 32-8 mark in league play and a school-record 22-game winning streak snapped early this month against Alabama.
“I have given my heart and soul to coaching college football and mentoring young men for the last 24-plus years and I have dedicated most of my waking moments the last five years to the Gator football program,” Meyer said in a statement. “I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to reevaluate my priorities of faith and family.
“After consulting with my family, Dr. Machen, Jeremy Foley and my doctors, I believe it is in my best interest to step aside and focus on my health and family.”
Well, as much as Gator football means, and as much as I am saddened by his departure, I thank Coach Meyer for the success, the wins, the memories, and pray that he lives a long healthy life.

Why Does Interpol Need Immunity From American Law? – National Review
You just can’t make up how brazen this crowd is. One week ago, President (Chairman) Obama quietly signed an executive order that makes an international police force immune from the restraints of American law.
Interpol is the shorthand for the International Criminal Police Organization. It was established in 1923 and operates in about 188 countries. By executive order 12425, issued in 1983, President Reagan recognized Interpol as an international organization and gave it some of the privileges and immunities customarily extended to foreign diplomats. Interpol, however, is also an active law-enforcement agency, so critical privileges and immunities (set forth in Section 2(c) of the International Organizations Immunities Act) were withheld. Specifically, Interpol’s property and assets remained subject to search and seizure, and its archived records remained subject to public scrutiny under provisions like the Freedom of Information Act. Being constrained by the Fourth Amendment, FOIA, and other limitations of the Constitution and federal law that protect the liberty and privacy of Americans is what prevents law-enforcement and its controlling government authority from becoming tyrannical.
On Wednesday, however, for no apparent reason, President (Chairman) Obama issued an executive order removing the Reagan limitations. That is, Interpol’s property and assets are no longer subject to search and confiscation, and its archives are now considered inviolable. This international police force (whose U.S. headquarters is in the Justice Department in Washington) will be unrestrained by the U.S. Constitution and American law while it operates in the United States and affects both Americans and American interests outside the United States.
Interpol works closely with international tribunals (such as the International Criminal Court — which the United States has refused to join because of its sovereignty surrendering provisions, though top Obama officials want us in it). It also works closely with foreign courts and law-enforcement authorities (such as those in Europe that are investigating former Bush administration officials for purported war crimes — i.e., for actions taken in America’s defense).
Why would we elevate an international police force above American law? Why would we immunize an international police force from the limitations that constrain the FBI and other American law-enforcement agencies? Why is it suddenly necessary to have, within the Justice Department, a repository for stashing government files which, therefore, will be beyond the ability of Congress, American law-enforcement, the media, and the American people to scrutinize?

It seems to me that Kwazaa has mostly survived today because to those who are overly gun ho about diversity. They put forth Kwanzaa on the same equal footing as Christmas and Chanukah, despite the fact that Kwanzaa is a made up holiday that never really caught on with the black community. I think when the diversity fad fades, Kwanzaa will disappear all together and I won’t shed a tear then either.

Charlie Sheen’s Christmas Present: Two And A Half Felony Charges
Charlie Sheen Arrested On Charges Of Alleged Domestic Violence – New York Post
Charlie Sheen has been arrested in the Colorado resort town of Aspen on charges related to an alleged case of domestic violence.
Aspen police spokeswoman Stephanie Dasaro says the “Two and a Half Men” star was arrested Christmas Day on charges of second-degree assault and menacing, both felonies, along with criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
Police arrested the 44-year-old actor after responding to a 911 call regarding a report of domestic violence at 8:34 a.m. at a historic house up for sale for $7.5 million. The alleged victim in the case — whose name was withheld, but is believed to be wife Brooke Mueller, according to reports on Radar.com — did not have to be taken to the hospital, police said.
Sheen will be held without bond in the Pitkin County Jail until his first court appearance. The court was closed for Christmas, and no date for his appearance has been set.
Sheen and Mueller, who married in May of 2008, have two twin boys, Bob and Max.
Sheen also has two daughters with ex-wife Denise Richards.
Passengers Help Foil Attack On Detroit-Bound Plane – My Way
An attempted terrorist attack on a Christmas Day flight began with a pop and a puff of smoke – sending passengers scrambling to subdue a Nigerian man who claimed to be acting on orders from al-Qaida to blow up the airliner, officials and travelers said.
The commotion began as Northwest Airlines Flight 253, carrying 278 passengers and 11 crew members from Amsterdam, prepared to land in Detroit just before noon Friday. Travelers said they smelled smoke, saw a glow, and heard what sounded like firecrackers. At least one person climbed over others and jumped on the man, who officials say was trying to ignite an explosive device.
“It sounded like a firecracker in a pillowcase,” said Peter Smith, a passenger from the Netherlands. “First there was a pop, and then (there) was smoke.”
Smith said one passenger, sitting opposite the man, climbed over passengers, went across the aisle and tried to restrain the man. The heroic passenger appeared to have been burned.
Afterward, the suspect was taken to a front-row seat with his pants cut off and his legs burned. Multiple law enforcement officials also said the man appeared badly burned on his legs, indicating the explosive was strapped there. The components were apparently mixed in-flight and included a powdery substance, multiple law enforcement and counterterrorism officials said.
The White House said it believed it was an attempted act of terrorism and stricter security measures were quickly imposed on airline travel. Dutch anti-terrorism authorities said the U.S. has asked all airlines to take extra precautions on flights worldwide that are bound for the United States.
The incident was reminiscent of Richard Reid, who tried to destroy a trans-Atlantic flight in 2001 with explosives hidden in his shoes, but was subdued by other passengers.
Multiple law enforcement officials identified the suspect in Friday’s attempted attack as Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab. He was described as Nigerian.

Huge Bonuses For Failed Fannie, Freddie Mortgage Chiefs – New Media Journal
The two chief executives of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac could get paid up to $6 million each for 2009, despite the companies’ dismal performance this year, which cost US taxpayers more than $100 billion.
Fannie’s CEO, Michael Williams, and Freddie’s CEO, Charles “Ed” Haldeman Jr, each will receive $900,000 in salary, $3.1 million in deferred payments next year and another $2 million if they meet certain performance goals, according to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission yesterday.
The pay packages were approved by the Treasury Department and the Federal Housing Finance Agency, which regulates Fannie and Freddie.
Fannie and Freddie, which were seized by regulators in September last year, have needed $111 billion in taxpayer money to stay afloat, one of the most expensive aftershocks of the financial crisis.
News of the chief executives’ pay could spark new criticism about the government’s numerous bailouts.
Freddie Mac hired Haldeman, a former mutual fund executive, in July. At the time, the company disclosed his annual salary of $900,000 but did not disclose other incentive payments. In September, the company hired a new chief financial officer, Ross Kari, and said his pay package would be worth up to $5.5 million.
Williams, formerly Fannie Mae’s chief operating officer, took over as CEO in April after the first government-appointed CEO, Herbert Allison, took a job at the Treasury Department. Williams earned a base salary of $676,000 last year, plus a retention award of $260,000.
GOP Now Leads Dems By 8 Points In Rasmussen Generic Congressional Poll
Republican candidates now have an eight-point lead over Democrats, (Communists) their biggest lead of the year, in the latest edition of the Generic Congressional Ballot.
The new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 44% would vote for their district’s Republican congressional candidate while 36% would opt for his or her Democratic (Communist) opponent. Support for GOP candidates held steady over the past week, but support for Democrats (Communists) slipped by a point.
Perhaps this helps to explain why Parker Griffith, a freshman congressman from northern Alabama, is expected to announce today that he is switching parties. Elected as a Democrat, (Communist) he is switching to the GOP because of unhappiness with national Democratic (Communist) policies. Several other Democratic (Communist) congressmen in swing districts have announced that they will not seek reelection next year.
Men prefer GOP candidates by 19 points over Democrats, (Communists) while women are evenly divided between the two. Among voters not affiliated with either party, Republicans lead by a 43% to 19% margin.
Republicans have held the lead on the ballot for over four months now. But since early November their lead has steadily increased. Democrats (Communists) currently have majority control of both the House and Senate.

Democrats voted down the DeMint Amendment tonight 53-46. The amendment would have prohibited the practice of trading votes for pork and pet projects.
Jim DeMint reported:Today, U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina), chairman of the Senate Steering Committee, made the following statement after the Senate defeated his amendment to prohibit the practice of trading votes for earmarks in the United States Senate. Senator DeMint’s motion was defeated on a 53-46 vote.
“The American people are disgusted by the earmarks, kickbacks, and backroom deals that have been used to buy votes for this health care takeover,” said Senator DeMint. “We had a chance today to put an end to this practice but Senate Democrats voted for business as usual. 53 Democrats just gave their personal seal of approval to the Louisiana Purchase, Cornhusker Kickback and other earmarks used to bribe senators into supporting this atrocious bill.”
“Democrats have truly hit the bottom on their reckless pursuit of a government takeover of health care. The Democrat majority just voted to retain the culture of corruption in Congress. Just two years ago, Democrats bragged about draining the swamp, but now they’re endorsing political bribery. This is Washington at its worst.”
Senator Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska), who secured a special earmark for his state that forces taxpayers in 49 states to fund Medicaid in Nebraska, first voted against the ban on trading earmarks for votes but switched his vote before the final tally. Senator DeMint responded, “Senator Nelson, unfortunately, is trying to have it both ways, he was for trading his vote for earmarks before he was against it.
