The Great Conservative Debate
Wyblog has the announcement up, and I am certainly looking forward to this. I would love to get in on one of these at some point. I particularly love debates between Conservatives because they are more thoughtful, and polite than debates with most Liberals.
There is a growing group of conservatives who are against the current prosecution of our war on terrorism and our nations foreign policy direction. Many conservatives are in favor of staying the course.
Two excellent bloggers and great friends of WyBlog, The Classic Liberal and Russ from That’s Right are going to battle across the blog-o-sphere in a multi-round, multi-blog debate on this very subject.
Scratcher from Makes My Brain Itch and Steve from MotorCityTimes.com are going to moderate the debate.
The Moderators will alternate posting questions on their sites, linking to replies and retorts, and providing a round up of all the punditry.
Then theCL and Russ will post their response and retorts on their respective blogs.

It has always befuddled me………..
That some Democrats actually attempt to claim Thomas Jefferson as theirs. Really? Now, it is true that the politcal Party of Jefferson, and Monroe, Madison and others was the Democratic Republicans, which later, became the Democratic Party.
The principles of Jefferson, however, are far from those of modern day Democrats. Yankee Phil has done a great job of listing some of Jefferson’s quotes. I certainly wish the Democrats would accept Jeffersonian principles.

The doctor cannot help those who refuse to help themselves
Recently, I, in a bipartisan fashion, reached out to help a “former Republican” who is suffering from Racial Obsession Syndrome. Sadly, as Stacy McCain reports, the man I tried to help,Frank Schaeffer, has apparently gone off his meds, BIG TIME!
Since being whacked upside the head with the Crazy Stick, Frank Schaeffer has descended into a cartoonish stereotype of prissy self-righteous liberalism.
Stacy, being a Southerner, as I am, tends to use phrases such as “Whacked upside the head with a crazy stick”, I have used nearly the same term in referrence to several Leftists. I have often referred to Jimmy Carter, for example, as being beaten with the Stoopit Stick. I have also accused Al Gore of falling out of the Wacky Tree, and hitting every damn branch on the way down.
But, I digress, Stacy offers video evidence of Frank’s descent into lunacy. After watching this, I fear Frank’s ROS might just be devolve into Terminal Stupidity Syndrome.
As you can easily see, Frank is in a very bad way. Hell he cannot even pronounce the word “cretin” correctly anymore. Stacy is trying to help you as I tried Frank. Although, in trying to help Frank has reminded me of a great tune.
Yep! Some people deserve what they get!

Listen to this – much like the spectacle that I witnessed with the massive Google search for the video of the Winter Olympics luger death, there is a flood of searches coming in for the video that shows Dawn Brancheau getting killed by Tilikum the killer whale. Google is flooded with the queries, ‘killer whale attack footage’, ‘killer whale attack youtube’, ‘whale killing trainer video’, ‘killer whale attacks trainer footage’ and others. Much like the luger video search incident, I am disgusted that people would go to lengths to view the demise of another.
There is a silver lining to this story and a moral repercussion to those that wish to watch Dawn Brancheau’s death for their viewing pleasure. It’s simple and one word. Virus.

Ghoulish internet users are searching the web for photographs and videos of the death, which happened yesterday during a public show at Sea World, Orlando. However, by using SEO (search engine optimisation) techniques, hackers have created webpages stuffed with content which appears to be morbid video footage of the animal trainer’s death – but are really designed to infect visiting computers.

Now , you might think these demands are too far-fetched, even for the Loony Left. But, actually, there are elements in all of these that come from actual demands some lefty group or another has made.

Up To 1,200 Needless Deaths Reported In British National Health Care Horror – Daily Mail
Not a single official has been disciplined over the worst-ever NHS hospital scandal, it emerged last night.
Up to 1,200 people lost their lives needlessly because Mid-Staffordshire NHS Trust put government targets and cost-cutting ahead of patient care.
But none of the doctors, nurses and managers who failed them has suffered any formal sanction.
Indeed, some have either retired on lucrative pensions or have swiftly found new jobs.
Former chief executive Martin Yeates, who has since left with a £1million pension pot, six months’ salary and a reported £400,000 payoff, did not even give evidence to the inquiry which detailed the scale of the scandal yesterday.
He was said to be medically unfit to do so, though he sent some information to chairman Robert Francis through his solicitor.
The devastating-report into the Stafford Hospital-shambles’ laid waste to Labour’s decade-long obsession with box-ticking and league tables.
The independent inquiry headed by Robert Francis QC found the safety of sick and dying patients was ‘routinely neglected’. Others were subjected to ‘ inhumane treatment’, ‘bullying’, ‘abuse’ and ‘rudeness’.
The shocking estimated death toll, three times the previous figure of 400, has prompted calls for a full public inquiry.
Bosses at the Trust – officially an ‘elite’ NHS institution – were condemned for their fixation with cutting waiting times to hit Labour targets and leaving neglected patients to die.
But after a probe that was controversially held in secret, not a single individual has been publicly blamed.
The inquiry found that:
• Patients were left unwashed in their own filth for up to a month as nurses ignored their requests to use the toilet or change their sheets;
• Four members of one family. including a new-born baby girl. died within 18 months after of blunders at the hospital;
• Medics discharged patients hastily out of fear they risked being sacked for delaying;
• Wards were left filthy with blood, discarded needles and used dressings while bullying managers made whistleblowers too frightened to come forward.
Last night the General Medical Council announced it was investigating several doctors. The Nursing and Midwifery Council is investigating at least one nurse and is considering other cases.
Ministers suggested the report highlighted a dreadful ‘local’ scandal, but its overall conclusions are a blistering condemnation of Labour’s approach to the NHS.
It found that hospital were so preoccupied with saving money and pursuit of elite foundation trust status that they ‘lost sight of its fundamental responsibility to provide safe care’.
Health Secretary Andy Burnham accepted 18 recommendations from Mr Francis and immediately announced plans for a new inquiry, to be held in public, into how Department of Health and NHS regulators failed to spot the disaster.
But Julie Bailey, head of the campaign group Cure the NHS, condemned his response as ‘outrageous’ and backed Tory and Liberal Democrat demands for a full public inquiry into what went wrong.
Jobless Claims Up 12% In Past 2 Weeks – CNN
The number of Americans filing for initial unemployment insurance surged to just below the 500,000 level last week, and have climbed more than 12% over the past two weeks, the government said Thursday.
There were 496,000 initial job claims filed in the week ended Feb. 20, up 22,000 from a revised 474,000 the previous week, the Labor Department said in a weekly report. The prior week, there were 442,000 claims filed.
A consensus estimate of economists surveyed by Briefing.com expected new claims to fall to 460,000.
The 4-week moving average of initial claims was 473,750, up 6,000 from the previous week’s revised average of 467,750.
Jet Pack Rockets Into Production – The Sun
The nightmare morning commute could soon be a thing of the past thanks to the first ever space-age jet packs.
The futuristic traffic jam-beating device will be available to the public shortly after a New Zealand based company was given the all clear to start production.
Martin Aircraft Company – which secured an £8million deal to make the packs this week – aims to produce 500 per year.
(115kg) the jet pack does not require a pilots licence.
It is capable of travelling 30 miles in 30 minutes on a full tank of fuel.
And recent tests have seen the latest model reach heights of up to 2,400 metres and top speeds of 60mph.
Only now has sufficient investment been found for the company to begin production of the craft at an undisclosed site outside New Zealand.
Glenn said the pack could be perfect for the emergency services, private users and even the military.
He said: “This could be life-saving stuff.
“For us this is an excellent commercial step. We have somebody who is willing to put £8m on the table because they believe there is a sizeable market in their country.”
Hamas-Linked Group Has Deep Ties To White House – WorldNetDaily
A radical Muslim group that was an unindicted co-conspirator in a scheme to raise money for Hamas has an extensive relationship with the Obama administration, WND has learned.
Last week, President Obama’s top adviser on counter-terrorism, John Brennan, came under fire for controversial remarks he made in a speech to Muslim law students at New York University. The event was sponsored by the Islamic Society of North America, or ISNA.
ISNA is known for its enforcement of Saudi-style Islam in mosques throughout the U.S. It was named by the Justice Department as an unindicted co-conspirator in its case against the Holy Land Foundation in Texas, which was found guilty in 2008 of raising money for the Hamas terrorist organization. Last year, Holy Land founders were given life sentences for “funneling $12 million to Hamas.
The Obama White House has deep ties to ISNA.
The relationship began even before Obama took office. One week before last year’s presidential inauguration, Sayyid Syeed, national director of the ISNA Office for Interfaith and Community Alliances, was part of a delegation that met with the directors of Obama’s transition team. The delegation discussed a request for an executive order ending “torture.”
ISNA President Ingrid Mattson represented American Muslims at Obama’s inauguration, where she offered a prayer during the televised event.
Mattson also represented ISNA at Obama’s Ramadan dinner at the White House.
Last June, Obama’s top aide, Valerie Jarrett, invited Mattson to work on the White House Council on Women and Girls, which Jarrett leads.
In July, the Justice Department sponsored an information booth at an ISNA bazaar in Washington, D.C.
Also that month, Jarrett addressed ISNA’s 46th annual convention. According to the White House, Jarrett attended as part of Obama’s outreach to Muslims.
Terror As Mall Shark Tank Cracks – The Sun
Shoppers fled in terror today after a giant aquarium filled with 400 SHARKS and stingrays cracked and began gushing torrents of water.
Horrified holidaymakers were among those left fearing that they were about to be engulfed by 10MILLION gallons of water — holding 33,000 sea creatures.
Dramatic video captured people fleeing the Dubai Mall as water poured on to the floor.
Engineers in the Middle East battled to shore-up the aquarium.
Mall security men donned life jackets and stores were ordered to shut up shop.
But the break in the 30-inch thick acrylic viewing panel managed to hold and prevent certain disaster.
Authorities later claimed the problem had been fixed, but were not allowing anyone near to see and anyone with photos of the drama were ordered by cops to delete them.
Man Hit By Train Twice In Two Weeks – Stuff
An American who lost his hand after being dragged by a commuter train two weeks ago in Southern California has been hit by a train again.
Police say the man claimed he fell from the platform onto the tracks at the Irvine station and was hit by a northbound train on Tuesday morning.
Sgt Mike Meyers says the man gave the same explanation when he was hit by a Metrolink train at about the same time two weeks ago in Laguna Nigel and dragged 26m. His left hand was severed at the wrist.
The sheriff’s department investigated the first incident as an accident.
Police say the man was taken to a hospital on Tuesday with non-life-threatening injuries and will receive a mental health evaluation.
Teachers’ Lap Dance ‘A Little Too Far’ For Students – Globe And Mail
he kids are calling it “Two Teachers, One Chair,” and it has all the makings of a YouTube hit.
But school administrators and parents are hard pressed to find humour in a graphic lap dance caught on video between two teachers at a spirit rally at Churchill High School in Winnipeg last week.
The two teachers, one of whom was identified by students as phys-ed instructor Chrystie Fitchner, have been sent home without pay after the spirit dance before 100 students as young as 13 years old. The identity of the male teacher could not be confirmed. Efforts to reach Ms. Fitchner Tuesday night were unsuccessful.
The whole routine has since been distributed on the Internet, thanks to the footage captured on a student’s cellphone camera. The Winnipeg School Division is investigating.
Fourteen-year-old Saigha Vincent was filming the teacher dance-off at the Gym Riot spirit assembly last Wednesday for Grade 9 to 12 students at the Winnipeg high school.
The routine began with the female teacher, sporting pigtails, seated on a chair, her legs spread, hips gyrating. Bumping beats played in the background and the male teacher approached between her legs, his hips swiveling to the beat.
Dept. Of Homeland Security Loses Over 1,000 Computers In One Year – Big Government
Last month I lost my wallet. Once a week I lose my car keys. Every day I lose the TV remote.
Thankfully, I’ve never lost a computer.
The Department of Homeland Sercurity (DHS), on the other hand, cannot say the same.
New documents show that component agencies of DHS, specifically Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) combined to lose no less than 985 computers in fiscal year 2008. Along with other component agencies in DHS, well over 1,000 computers were lost.
But the inventories of lost stolen and damaged equipment don’t stop with just computers. They include radiation detectors, night vision scopes (hundreds of them), night vision goggles, lost vehicles, lost blackberries, computer servers, expensive radios and radio repeaters.
CBP maintains that the computer losses were within acceptable standards for asset management, saying the losses only represented about .5% of their total computer inventory.
