Surgeon Removed Baby’s Bladder By Accident – Manchester Evening News
A baby girl will have to use a catheter for the rest of her life after a surgeon accidentally removed 90 per cent of her bladder, a disciplinary panel heard.
Dr Pierina Kapur, 43, mistakenly removed the majority of the tot’s bladder when she was trying to repair a hernia.

The consultant paediatric surgeon admitted the blunder, which happened while she worked at Manchester Children’s Hospital in Pendlebury.
The infant, from Salford, was seven weeks old in October 2008, when she was admitted for repairs to hernias on each side of her stomach.
Following the operation she did not pass urine for more than 35 hours and developed a rash and high temperature.
The General Medical Council panel heard that the patient, now 18 months old, has had several procedures since Dr Kapur’s mistake, and will now rely on a catheter tube to pass urine for the rest of her life.
Dr Kapur admitted that her actions during the operation were below the standard to be expected of a reasonably competent consultant paediatric surgeon.
Ariz. Lawmakers: Verify Citizenship Of Candidates – Arizona Republic
Nearly half of the Arizona Legislature wants to force President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate to state officials if he runs for re-election.
A state House committee on Tuesday approved the measure sponsored by 40 of the state’s 90 legislators. It would require presidential candidates who want to appear on the ballot in Arizona to submit documents proving they meet the requirements to be president.
All 40 co-sponsors are Republicans, comprising 75 percent of the GOP caucus. Two of them have since resigned to run for Congress.
The idea was proposed by Skull Valley Republican Rep. Judy Burges. She says if people have to prove their citizenship to apply for a job or get a passport, they should have to prove it to run for president.

The distinctive smell of the winning entry will be recreated and feature in the new attraction, which features six traps depicting the most grisly and iconic scenes from the six SAW films.
It will be pumped into the iconic washroom scene, recreating a “realistic and truly gut wrenching sensory experience” designed to test the nerve of all who enter.
Pa. Abortion Doctor’s License Suspended After Raid – My Way
Federal agents raided a clinic where abortions are performed and found “deplorable and unsanitary” conditions, including blood on the floor and parts of aborted fetuses in jars, according to the state agency that shut it down and suspended the license of the doctor in charge.
In the order suspending Dr. Kermit Gosnell’s license, the Pennsylvania Department of State’s Board of Medicine said investigators found numerous health and safety risks at Gosnell’s abortion and pain-management clinic, including a preoperative and recovery area that consisted of several recliners grouped together.
The Women’s Medical Society clinic is open during the day, but Gosnell does not arrive until somewhere between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. and is the only person with a medical license working there, according to the order.
A clinic employee told investigators that Gosnell directed her in his absence to conduct gynecological examinations and administer painkillers to patients, the document states.
The temporary suspension of Gosnell’s license follows at least two raids by agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration and the FBI. At the time of one raid – at 9 p.m. on Feb. 18 – investigators found the clinic full of patients.
On Nov. 20, the document states, a patient died after being given two separate doses of painkillers plus anesthesia before an abortion.
Police: Irate NY Man Uses Backhoe To Crush 30 Cars – Yahoo News
Authorities said an upstate New York man angry with his wife used a backhoe to demolish more than two dozen demolition derby cars.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said 29-year-old Michael Fagner caused about $40,000 damage to 30 cars parked at a business in Savannah, 30 miles west of Syracuse.
Police said he used the backhoe’s bucket to crush most of the derby-ready cars and flip over one vehicle Friday afternoon. Deputies said the backhoe belonged to the business.
Authorities say Fagner believed someone at the business was having an affair with his wife.
Fagner was charged felony criminal mischief and later released on $5,000 bail.
Fagner’s phone number wasn’t listed. Prosecutors didn’t know if he had a lawyer.
Stolen At Birth, Man Learns Identity – CBS News
The search is finally over for Abel Madariaga, whose pregnant wife was kidnapped by Argentine security forces 33 years ago.
After decades of doubt and loneliness, of searching faces in the street in hopes they might be related, Madariaga has found his son.
“I never stopped thinking I would find him,” the 59-year-old father said, squeezing his son’s arm during a packed news conference Tuesday.

For the first time, I know who I was. Who I am,” the young man said, still marveling at his new identity: Francisco Madariaga Quintela, a name he only learned last week.
The Grandmothers of the Plaza de Mayo rights group believes about 400 children were stolen at birth from women who were kidnapped and killed as part of the 1976-1983 dictatorship’s “dirty war” against political dissidents, which killed as many as 30,000 people.
Madariaga and his wife, Silvia Quintela, were members of the Montoneros, a leftist group targeted for elimination by government death squads. He last saw his wife – a 28-year-old surgeon who treated the poor in a Buenos Aires suburb – being pushed into a Ford Falcon by army officers dressed as civilians as she walked to a train on Jan. 17, 1977.
Madariaga managed to flee into exile to avoid the same fate. Ever since, he has made finding the children of those who disappeared his life’s cause.
350 Sick Aboard Cruise Ship In Caribbean – MSNBC
About 350 people who got sick a week into a Caribbean cruise were responding well to medicine, the cruise line said Tuesday.
Celebrity Cruise spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez said 326 of the more than 1,800 passengers on the Celebrity Mercury began complaining Sunday of upset stomachs, vomiting and diarrhea. Martinez says 27 of the nearly 850 crew members also reported symptoms.
The ship left Charleston on Feb. 15, the first departure in a newly-expanded year-round schedule of cruises from South Carolina as the industry expands in the state.
Martinez says the crew is conducting “enhanced cleaning” of the ship to prevent the spread of the illness.
Off to the doctor
Well, three days of being sick is enough for me. I am headed to my doctor, to get some medication. I likely have a sinus/throat infection, I kinda know what they feel like so………
Your daily dose of Liberal hypocrisy
Michelle Malkin has videos of Van Jones calling President Bush a “crackhead” and also a video of him calling for more “civility”, Typical Leftist, say one thing while doing the exact opposite! Call for civility after trashing those who disagree with you.
I am sure y’all recall what the NRSC told us. Marco Rubio was a good guy, but it was not his time. They told us to just shut up and be good Republicans. Support Charlie Crist, he may not be the most Conservative candidate, but, it was either him,or a Democrat.
We, here at NORC told the NRSC to go fly a kite, we believed that a more Conservative candidate COULD get elected to the US Senate. Well, gues what, the polls say we are right The Crist campaign is falling apart and Rubio is rocking. That is great news, but listen to this bit of news. If you really want to know what an impact Rubio is having, and how fearful of him the Left is, consider that he is the victim of smear tactics from clowns like Donny Deutsch
JOY BEHAR: Let’s talk about the Republican Party. They’re becoming- You’re a brander. You know about that. They are the party of no. And that’s not a good thing.
DONNY DEUTSCH: It’s not a good thing. But what they figured out, finally, unfortunately, in the last six weeks, if you think about Brown winning, if you think about in Virginia where they won, if you think about this guy Rubio they’re pushing in Florida, they’re understanding that just this vitriolic, “We hate Obama. The world is bad,” the Sarah Palins of the world, the Dick Cheneys of the world, the Rush Limbaughs, is unelectable. Let’s put forward a fiscal conservative, socially- what appears to be socially moderate in terms of whatnot [sic], that’s the electable candidate. So they’re getting it. There’s a difference between-
BEHAR: Who is that person?
DEUTSCH: It’s basically it’s a Scott Brown. And once again. It’s amazing. They’re talking about presidential timber. He’s never done anything in his whole life. That’s the whole thing. It’s the blank piece of paper people can assign things to. One of the reasons, interestingly enough, I think we are a society of no right now. One of the reasons Obama got elected, because he was a blank page. You could assign hope to him.
BEHAR: That’s true.
DEUTSCH: We’re such a media frenzy, 24/7 world that almost anybody that’s been around too long, there’s so much “no” attached to it, that you almost need that blank piece of paper. That’s the new model. Like, you know, this coconut Rubio down in Florida. You know-
BEHAR: What’s his name? I don’t know him. Rubio?
DEUTSCH: Marco Rubio. He’s running against Charlie Crist, who I think has done a great job. And he is the new great, you now, hope down there.
BEHAR: So, basically, these people, the tea partiers are basically angry with the right and the left for the same reason, that there’s fiscal irresponsibility?
DEUTSCH: No, they’re angry- they’re basically- their argument is- and I think there’s a lot of racism underneath it- is- “He, they, are taking your civil liberties away. They’re stomping on the Constitution. They’re telling us how many bullets we can have in our guns.”
Folks, you KNOW you are a threat when the Left goes berserk on you! Anyone they fear will win elections they attack in the most antagonistic ways. Keep it up Marco Rubio!
Delaware Pediatrician Indicted On 471 Counts Of Abusing 103 Children; Prosecutors Expect More – Minneapolis Star Tribune
Prosecutors expect to add more counts to a lengthy indictment against a Delaware pediatrician charged with serial molestation of 103 children as investigators urge former patients and parents to come forward.
A grand jury returned a 160-page indictment Monday against Dr. Earl Bradley of Lewes with 471 counts of sexual crimes.

The case has shocked the close-knit coastal community of Lewes and the central Delaware town of Milford, where Bradley closed an office in 2005 after police investigated him.
Bradley’s attorney, Eugene Maurer, said he would seek to move the trial out of Sussex County. But he said the “real battleground” in the case will be Bradley’s mental state, not what is seen on videotapes seized from Bradley’s home and office or alleged in the indictment.
Announcing the grand jury’s indictment, Attorney General Beau Biden said all of the alleged victims, mainly girls but including one boy, were caught on more than 13 hours of video recordings, some dating to 1998.
“The charges in this indictment are unique in the history of the state of Delaware, as far as I can tell,” he said.
The charges against Bradley include rape, sexual exploitation of a child, unlawful sexual contact, continuous sexual abuse of a child, assault and reckless endangering.
Woman Pleads Guilty To Selling 2 Children To Louisiana Couple For A Cockatoo And $175 Cash – Washington Examiner
A 52-year-old Louisiana woman has pleaded guilty to two counts of sale of a minor for trading two children to a couple in exchange for an exotic pet bird and $175.

Donna Louise Greenwell received 15 months of hard labor on each count on Monday, which she will serve concurrently.
The Evangeline Parish Clerk of Court’s Office tells The Advocate newspaper that Greenwell will begin serving her sentence March 25.
The couple, Paul James Romero and Brandy Lynn Romero, each pleaded guilty to the same charges in October.
Greenwell was accused of selling the couple a 4-year-old girl and 5-year-old boy in return for the cash and a cockatoo. Both children were in Greenwell’s care after their biological parents had left them with her.
Prosecutors Interrogate 51 Turkish Officers – Seattle Post-Intelligencer
Prosecutors interrogated 51 Turkish military commanders Tuesday over alleged plans to destabilize the country by blowing up mosques to trigger a coup and topple the Islamic-rooted government.
With the former chiefs of the Air Force and the Navy among those being questioned, it was the highest profile crackdown ever on the Turkish military, which has ousted four governments since 1960.
The sweep has dramatically deepened a power struggle between the secular establishment and the government, which has strong electoral backing and the European Union’s support.
For decades Turkey’s senior officers, self-appointed guardians of the country’s secular tradition, have called the shots. Known as “pashas,” – a title of respect harking back to Ottoman times – they were once deemed untouchable.
But the balance of power in this EU-candidate country shifted Monday as police rounded up the 51 commanders following the gathering of wiretap evidence and the discovery of an alleged secret coup plan, dubbed “the sledgehammer,” prepared when the commanders were on duty between 2003 and 2005.
Springer Spaniel Survives 300ft Fall Off Sussex Cliff – BBC News
A springer spaniel survived a 300ft fall into the sea, after jumping off cliffs on the East Sussex coast to chase a seagull.
Poppy ran over the edge of the Seven Sisters cliffs at Brass Point during a walk, but managed to swim to shore and was picked up by a lifeboat crew.

The dog’s owners, Kelly Ixer and Ben Markwick, from Ansty, said they were “indebted” to the lifeboat team.
Poppy was treated for a partially collapsed lung, but has now recovered.
She had been out walking with Mr Markwick’s sister and her partner Stephen Winslade.
Mr Winslade, 31, said: “She ran to the edge and just disappeared.
“She is really well-trained and well-behaved, but I think she ran so fast there was no chance of her stopping.
“I threw myself down and looked over the edge and saw her paddling.”
ACORN ‘Dissolved As A National Structure’ – The Politico
The embattled liberal group ACORN is in the process of dissolving its national structure, with state and local-chapters splitting off from the underfunded, controversial national group, an official close to the group confirmed.
“ACORN has dissolved as a national structure of state organizations,” said a senior official close to the group, who declined to be identified by name because of the fierce conservative attacks on the group that began when a conservative filmmaker caught some staffers of its tax advisory arms on tape appearing to offer advice on incorporating a prostitution business.
The videos proved a rallying point for conservatives who had long accused the group of fomenting voting fraud. Though the videos did not produce criminal charges, they appear to have been fatal to the national organization.
“Consistent with what the internal recommendations have been, each of the states are developing plans for reconstitution independence and self-sufficiency,” said the official, citing ACORN’s “diminished resources, damage to the brand, unprecedented attacks.”
The new organizations, he said “will be constituted under new banners and new bylaws and new governance,” he said, consistent with the recommendations of an outside panel.
Pakistan Captures Another Top Afghan Taliban Leader, Mullah Abdul Kabir – Christian Science Monitor
Pakistani forces have captured Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Kabir, a member of the central leadership and a top military commander, according to media. But while Pakistan’s crackdown on the Taliban leadership continues, experts are divided as to its impact.
The New York Times reports that according to a Pakistani intelligence official, Mr. Kabir was seized several days ago in Nowshera, a city in the North West Frontier Province of Pakistan (click here to see a map). Kabir is a member of the Quetta Shura, the Taliban’s ruling circle that reports to Taliban leader Mullah Muhammad Omar.
Mullah Kabir is a longtime associate of Mullah Omar, the Taliban’s founder. He was the governor of Nangarhar Province, in eastern Afghanistan, when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001. Since then, he has overseen military operations in eastern Afghanistan, including those in Kunar, Nangarhar, Nuristan and Laghman Provinces.
One Horse Power Truck – Ananova
A Polish farmer is facing jail for being drunk in charge of both a horse and a lorry at the same time.
Leszek Stepien, 62, of Skwierzyna, used his farm horse to tow his broken down truck to the garage but had drunk so much he couldn’t steer straight.

The impromptu carriage ground to a halt when the farmer managed to steer straight into the path of an oncoming car, sending the truck tumbling onto its side.
Stepien wasn’t about to take the blame for the collision, however. Uninjured, he sprang from the cab and proceeded to berate the poor beast, yelling: “This is all your fault.”
Police were less than amused by the bizarre scene that greeted them, and revealed that the foolish farmer faces dire consequences for his flash of inspiration.
“Luckily the horse wasn’t injured but the owner is facing charges including animal cruelty and drink driving,” said one officer, who revealed that Stepien had drunk enough to put him over twice the legal drink-driving limit.
Reid: ‘Men, When They’re Out Of Work, Tend To Become Abusive’ – The Hill
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Monday that domestic violence by men has increased due to U.S. joblessness.
Reid, speaking in the midst of a Senate debate over whether to pass a $15 billion package meant to spur job creation, appeared to argue that joblessness would lead to more domestic violence.
“I met with some people while I was home dealing with domestic abuse. It has gotten out of hand,” Reid said on the Senate floor. “Why? Men don’t have jobs.”
Reid said that the effects of joblessness on domestic violence were especially pronounced among men, because, Reid said, women tend to be less abusive.
“Women don’t have jobs either, but women aren’t abusive, most of the time,” he said.
“Men, when they’re out of work, tend to become abusive,” the majority leader added. “Our domestic crisis shelters in Nevada are jammed.”
Guinness: Arizona Great Dane Is Tallest Dog Ever – Yahoo News
A 250-pound blue Great Dane from Arizona gives new meaning to the term “big dog.” Guinness World Records says Giant George from Tucson is the tallest dog ever on record.

Guinness said Monday that he stands 3 feet, 7 inches tall from paw to shoulder, which is three-quarters of an inch taller than his closest rival – Titan, a white Great Dane from San Diego.
The 4-year-old Titan took the title of world’s tallest dog in 2009 after Gibson, a Great Dane from Grass Valley, Calif., died of bone cancer.
Guinness officials say there were conflicting reports about Giant George’s height, so they sent a judge to verify it.
The 4-year-old is owned by David Nasser
Three Different Provisions To Fund Abortions In Obama’s Health Care Plan – Weekly Standard
President Obama’s health care plan would use federal dollars to pay for abortions in at least three ways.
First, it contains Ben Nelson’s so-called compromise amendment in which allows insurance plans purchased with federal subsidies to cover abortions. Nelson’s amendment doesn’t apply to the whole bill, so there are two other provisions that would allow direct federal funding of abortion.
The National Right to Life Committee notes that Obama’s plan would provide $11 billion dollars for community health centers–$4 billion more than the original Senate bill–and there is no language preventing these funds from paying for abortions.
Third, the Senate bill allows for direct federal funding of abortions on Indian reservations.
