Wife Jailed After Fight Over Husband Urinating On The Floor – St. Petersburg Times
Deanne Elsholz said her husband urinated on the bathroom floor.
David Elsholz just wanted to go back to sleep.
It was almost midnight Monday at their mobile home at 5951 Woodsman Drive in the Angus Valley community.
Deputies who arrived later said the place was cluttered with Natural Light beer cans, and both husband and wife appeared to be drunk.
“What are you doing?” Deanne, 44, asked David, 50, when she heard his urine spraying the floor, according to what she told authorities.
She said her husband then slapped her about the head with a towel and, in retaliation, she threw a glass from her nightstand at his face. It hit him in the nose, a report states, and blood poured down his chest and arms.
Then, Deanne “ran into the bathroom and slipped on David’s pee,” the report states.
She told deputies David kicked her in the ribs while she was on the ground, and she crawled to get her phone and called 911.
Dean Murray, First Elected Tea Party Activist, Joins N.Y. Legislature Monday – Los Angeles Times
The Tea Party crowd now has its first elected office holder.
He’s Dean Murray, a 45-year-old Long Island businessman, who won a lengthy recount in a special election for a New York State Assembly seat.

Murray, a Tea Party organizer from the protest movement’s very beginning last year, also ran on its anti-tax, anti-big government platform. He takes the official oath of office Monday.
While Tea Party supporters have played influential roles in other elections such as Republican Sen. Scott Brown’s upset win in Massachusetts, others are now running in GOP primaries elsewhere. Murray is believed to be the first to take office. He’ll have to run again in this fall’s regular election.
As advised by Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin, Murray picked a political party, the Republicans. He defeated Democrat Lauren Thoden by about 160 votes out of 8,000 in the 3rd Assembly District of eastern Long Island that has been represented by Democrats for the past 13 years.
Father Who Threw Baby From Bridge Was ‘Devout Muslim’ – WorldNetDaily
A 21-year-old New Jersey man accused of kidnapping his 3-month-old daughter and throwing her off a bridge is described by his father as a devout Muslim who prayed regularly and is said to have immediately visited mosques and confessed to an imam following his crime.

Shamsid-Din Abdur-Raheem, an aspiring lawyer and student at Richard Stockton College, reportedly held a leadership position in the Muslim Student Association at Stockton, according to college senior Zaw Win. The group’s member and officer list has been disabled on its website.
He was also an intern in Washington, D.C., with the juveniles section of the Office of the Attorney General, according to March 2009 press release from Stockton College. He was fired after only a month for missing work and not completing assignments. He lashed out during his termination, and security personnel escorted him out of the building.
Abdur-Raheem allegedly forced his way into the baby’s maternal grandmother’s home at 4 p.m. on Feb. 16, punched the 60-year-old woman in the face and choked her. He took 3-month old Zara Malani-lin Abdur, and the grandmother chased him outside. She threw herself on the hood of a Dodge Caravan as Abdur-Raheem climbed into the passenger side, clutching his daughter, New Jersey’s Star-Ledger reports. According to some reports, he left with an unidentified man at the wheel, though other accounts say he was the only man in the van.
Broad New Hacking Attack Detected – Wall Street Journal
Hackers in Europe and China successfully broke into computers at nearly 2,500 companies and government agencies over the last 18 months in a coordinated global attack that exposed vast amounts of personal and corporate secrets to theft, according to a computer-security company that discovered the breach.

The damage from the latest cyberattack is still being assessed, and affected companies are still being notified. But data compiled by NetWitness, the closely held firm that discovered the breaches, showed that hackers gained access to a wide array of data at 2,411 companies, from credit-card transactions to intellectual property.
The hacking operation, the latest of several major hacks that have raised alarms for companies and government officials, is still running and it isn’t clear to what extent it has been contained, NetWitness said. Also unclear is the full amount of data stolen and how it was used. Two companies that were infiltrated, pharmaceutical giant Merck & Co. and Cardinal Health Inc., said they had isolated and contained the problem.
Starting in late 2008, hackers operating a command center in Germany got into corporate networks by enticing employees to click on contaminated Web sites, email attachments or ads purporting to clean up viruses, NetWitness found.
In more than 100 cases, the hackers gained access to corporate servers that store large quantities of business data, such as company files, databases and email.
They also broke into computers at 10 U.S. government agencies. In one case, they obtained the user name and password of a soldier’s military email account, NetWitness found. A Pentagon spokesman said the military didn’t comment on specific threats or intrusions.
Jobless Claims, Inflation Jump As Economy Wobbles – CNBC
The number of U.S. workers filing new applications for unemployment insurance surged last week, while producer prices increased sharply in January, raising potential hurdles for the economic recovery.
Initial claims for state unemployment benefits increased 31,000 to 473,000, the Labor Department said on Thursday. That compared to market expectations for 430,000.
Another report from the department showed prices paid at the farm and factory gate rose a faster than expected 1.4 percent from December after a 0.4 percent gain in December, as higher gasoline prices and unusually cold temperatures helped boost energy costs.
Cat Adopts Baby Squirrel – Ananova
A baby squirrel has been adopted by a cat – and become best friends with her kitten.

The unlikely pals cuddle up together with ‘mum’ Tita in Envigado, near Medellin, Colombia, reports The Sun.
The two baby animals suckle on Tita’s milk, scamper about the house and even share a cuddle from time to time.
The squirrel was rescued by Ruben Gaviria who found him injured in a local park.
He has been nursing the little rodent back to health with the help of his feline companions.
Groom Arrested Twice On Wedding Night – WFTV
A marriage got off to a rocky start after the 21-year-old groom from northern Idaho was arrested twice on his wedding night and charged with assaulting his new wife in nearby eastern Washington.
Court records show Nathan Lewis of Lewiston, Idaho, was charged Tuesday in Asotin County Superior Court with second-degree assault and interfering with a report of domestic violence.
The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office in Idaho says Lewis was married Sunday and later arrested for drunken and disorderly conduct in Lewiston.
Police say that after Lewis was released on bail, he assaulted his new wife at a home in nearby Clarkston, Wash. The bride told authorities she was slapped and choked during the altercation, the Lewiston Tribune reports.
Lewis is scheduled to be arraigned March 1.
Duke Lacrosse Accuser Charged With Attempted Murder, Arson – WRAL
Durham police late Wednesday arrested the woman who four years ago falsely accused three Duke University lacrosse players of rape. Investigators said Crystal Gayle Mangum assaulted her boyfriend, set his clothes on fire in a bathtub and threatened to stab him.
A judge set her bond at $1 million during a Thursday morning court appearance. Mangum, 33, has been appointed a public defender and is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 22.

Police charged her with attempted first-degree murder, five counts of arson, assault and battery, communicating threats, three counts of misdemeanor child abuse, injury to personal property, identity theft and resisting a public officer.
Shortly after 11:30 p.m., police received a 911 call about a domestic dispute at 2220 Lincoln St. Authorities said they believe the call came from one of the three children inside the house.
When officers arrived, they found Mangum and her boyfriend, Milton Walker, 33, fighting. According to police documents, Mangum scratched, punched and threw objects at Walker and told him, “I’m going to stab you, (expletive)!”
She then went into a bathroom and set his clothes on fire in the bathtub, police said. Officers called the fire department to put out the flames. No one was injured.
Milton was not charged in the incident, police said. The three children inside the house, ages 3, 9 and 10, were not injured.
Officers said Mangum gave them a fake name, “Marella Mangum,” and age, prompting the identity theft charge. She also resisted the officers who responded to the scene, according to police documents.
‘Dead’ Colombian Woman Moves Arm At Funeral Home – Associated Press
A Colombian woman declared dead of a heart attack moved one of her arms just as an undertaker was about to embalm her, doctors said Wednesday.
Noelia Serna, 45, was rushed to a hospital in the city of Cali, where she was in critical condition in an intensive care unit Wednesday, said hospital director Luis Fernando Rendon.
“Her chances of survival are slim,” Rendon said.
Serna, who has multiple sclerosis, was admitted to the same Cali University Hospital on Monday after a heart attack, Rendon said. She survived for about 10 hours on life support, but then seemingly didn’t respond to resuscitation efforts following a second attack. She was declared dead early Tuesday.
About two hours later, funeral home employee Jaime Aullon was just about to inject embalming fluid into Serna’s left leg when he saw her move.
“She was moving her right arm,” he said. “I stopped the procedure and brought her back to the hospital to be treated.”
On rare occasions, a person’s heart rate and breathing can drop to undetectable levels, leading doctors to erroneously declare a patient dead, said neurosurgeon Juan Mendoza Vega, a member of the Colombian National Medical Ethics Board.
“It can happen,” he said. “But it’s not a matter of coming back to life because the person was never dead.”
Top UN Climate Official Resigning – My Way
Top U.N. climate change official Yvo de Boer told The Associated Press on Thursday that he was resigning after nearly four years, a period when governments struggled without success to agree on a new global warming deal.

His departure takes effect July 1, five months before 193 nations are due to reconvene in Mexico for another attempt to reach a binding worldwide accord on controlling greenhouse gases. De Boer’s resignation adds to the uncertainty that a full treaty can be finalized there.
De Boer is known to be deeply disappointed with the outcome of the last summit in Copenhagen, which drew 120 world leaders but failed to reach more than a vague promise by several countries to limit carbon emissions – and even that deal fell short of consensus.
But he denied to the AP that his decision to quit was a result of frustration with Copenhagen.
South Carolina Lawmaker Seeks To Ban Federal Currency – CBS News
South Carolina Rep. Mike Pitts has introduced legislation that would mandate that gold and silver coins replace federal currency as legal tender in his state.
As the Palmetto Scoop first reported, Pitts, a Republican, introduced legislation this month banning “the unconstitutional substitution of Federal Reserve Notes for silver and gold coin” in South Carolina.

In an interview, Pitts told Hotsheet that he believes that “if the federal government continues to spend money at the rate it’s spending money, and if it continues to print money at the rate it’s printing money, our economic system is going to collapse.”
“The Germans felt their system wouldn’t collapse, but it took a wheelbarrow of money to buy a loaf of bread in the 1930s,” he said. “The Soviet Union didn’t think their system would collapse, but it did. Ours is capable of collapsing also.”
100 Teens Turn Snowball Fight Into Violent Flash Mob Outside Philadelphia Macy’s Store – New York Daily News
A flash mob of teens snowballed into violent brawlers in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
Police suspect the 100 teens gathered at The Gallery on Market St. after organizing the incident on Facebook or Twitter.
According to a Philadelphia TV station, the event began as a massive snowball fight. The crowd quickly became unruly, and spilled into a nearby Macy’s department store.
Fights broke out, as the store was damaged and items stolen.
“It was very chaotic,” an unidentified woman told the local CBS station. “It was a mob. There were between 40 and 50 kids who tore up Macy’s.”
Fourteen people, all high school students, were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, police said. A girl was among those nabbed, and received an additional charge of aggravated assault, for allegedly kicking a victim in the head.
Some were also hit with narcotics charges.
A similar incident happened in the City of Brotherly Love last year, which led to vandalism and assaults, as well as a cab being stolen.

Hot Air sold to Salem Communications
I am happy for my blogging role model, Michelle Malkin, and I do hope Salem will not do what a lot of corporations do when they buy an independent operation, that is screw it up. I would hate to see all the users, and commenters pyrged, or the blog changed into something totally different than what it curfrently is. As I have said,it was reading Hot Air, that inspired me to start this blog, so I have a special place in my heart for it. Best of luck to Michelle,I hope the check was huge, she deserves it! Best of luck to Ed Morrissey, a tremendous blogging talent, and to Allahpundit too.
Everyone is having some reactions., predictions, etc. Here is a peek at a few of the better ones.
Hot Air itself
Neither Allahpundit nor I will have any official comment on this until tomorrow, but if you read our Twitter feeds last night, you already knew that a big announcement about Hot Air’s business status was on the way. What I can tell you now is that Hot Air’s current mission and direction will not change, and that both AP and I will continue being part of Hot Air for the foreseeable future. Other than that …. have at it! Update: Michelle will be posting something about the acquisition soon, too, either here or at michellemalkin.com, or both.
Stacy McCain uses this news to take a shot at AP
Congratulations to Michelle Malkin on divesting herself of the atheist Eeyore — at a handsome profit, we certainly hope.
Stacy also makes a prediction, that I hope does come true
Were I asked to hazard a guess, I’d guess that we’ll soon hear that Malkin has signed a deal for her own talk-radio show. Perhaps with . . . er, Salem Communications.
I think that would be great, give her Mike Gallagher’s time slot, Lord knows less of him would be an improvement.
Chris echoes my concern about Salem screwing a great thing up
Please God, don’t let them do to HotAir.com what they did to Townhall.com. Because Townhall is definitely not my #1 conservative website.
In fact, Townhall has got to be one of the most annoying websites in the universe.
Check [out] this crapulous example of graphic sludge, popovers, popunders, animations, blink tags and other web page bullshit gone wild.
Who is responsible for this dog’s dinner of stinking slush? Uncle Jethro? Baby Huey? The last six art directors fired from Porn.com? Does it matter? Nope. Not at all. Trying to read something on Townhall is like getting hit in the face with oozing semi-liquid spam every second.
And don’t get me started on their never-ending, unable to unsubscribe even if you jump through all the hoops they’ve set up, email blasts. Townhall pimps more “get rich quick” investment scams than a Bronx boiler room operation. Even worse, somehow I got subscribed to their cruft twice so I get two copies of each piece of junk email they pump out.
I sure hope that Ms. Malkin (and co-bloggers Ed Morrissey and AllahPundit) know what they’re doing here. Hot Air really is one of the top conservative websites. It had better not succumb to any of the irritating webpage pestilence which infects Townhall.
Amen Chris. Bob Belvedere also shares our concerns.
Salem Communications also owns Townhall.com, which is a site I rarely visit since they took it over.
Like I opined at the start of this post, I would hate to see Hot Air “Corporized”. It is like when you find a great restaurant, and then, one day, they are bought out, and at first nothing really changes. But, over time, it begins to lose all its charm and soon, it is just another mindless Chilis, Applebees, Friday’s, etc. The once friendly, happy-to-see-you, staff is replaced by mind-numbed robots who parrot stupid scripted lines and worry more about being a salesman than a friendly server/bartender. They do this because their robotic, mind-numbed managers, who are not allowed to do much managing, tell them to “upsell, upsell”, and oh yeah, “upsell”. And of course the managers do this because the morons at the corporate level, who, generally speaking do not a damned thing about sincerity, or service, tell them to tell the staff to be salespeople, and to try to suck every last penny from every person who walks in the door. So, again, PLEASE SALEM, do not do that to Hot Air!
Another damned Hatemongering Vaginaphobe!
AND the Douchebag of the Day!
Stacy McCain exposes Robert Pattinson, of Twilight fame as a man who just hates having naked women around him
OK, so Details magazine arranges a photo shoot (NSFW) of the Twilight star surrounded by naked fashion models. His reaction?
“I really hate vaginas. I’m allergic to vagina. But I can’t say I had no idea, because it was a 12-hour shoot, so you kind of get the picture that these women are going to stay naked after, like, five or six hours. But I wasn’t exactly prepared.”
Five or six hours surrounded by beautiful naked women. And he “wasn’t exactly prepared”?
He is allergic to0 hot women? What a douchebag!
A MUST-READ from the Left Coast Rebel!
Read it and think about what this young man says. Very interesting take, I offer a taste, but go read the entire piece.
Rich Trzupek today in Big Journalism drew up what he believed to be an essay on President Lincoln’s Legacy. In doing so he proved that the conservative/liberal prism-view of Lincoln really isn’t that much different. Lincoln is good. Honest Abe. He freed the slaves, he was a champion of blacks in America – the great emancipator. He saved the Union. He was a conservative, even – according to this writer.
Mr. Trzupek simply fails to mention, whether intentionally or not; a much darker side to the history of Abraham Lincoln. A darker side that reveals the lust for power that this man envisioned, the dismantling of and subterfuge of states rights. As anyone that has access to a modem, keyboard and a mouse will find – the list starts with Lincoln’s suspension of habeus corpus in Maryland and Midwestern states. On September 24, 1862 Lincoln wrote, ”That the writ of habeas corpus is suspended in respect to all persons arrested, or who are now, or hereafter during the rebellion shall be, imprisoned in any fort, camp, arsenal, military prisons, or other place of confinement, by any military authority, or by the sentence of any court-martial or military commission.”
Many argue that the Constitution allows for such – during times of ‘invasion, rebellion or when the public safety requires it.’ – as stated in Article One, Section 9 of the Constitution. I’ll leave this question to legal scholars and experts but the question remains – can you judge the intention of Lincoln as pure and noble on this subject or rather as a man using a means to the end of Federal control?
This suspension then led, during the Civil War, to Americans being arrested and their Constitutional rights trampled on. Chet Dembeck writes of Lincoln’s proclivity to imprison political opponents in his book “His Dark Side” –Lincoln’s Imprisonment of Baltimore’s May and Legislators. Abraham Lincoln literally locked up thousands of Americans under the auspice of mere suspicion against the Union.
Honest Abe, from my childhood history books, you say? Yes – truth is stranger than fictional history.
Essentially these actions point to the man. The Abraham Lincoln of folklore that simply just isn’t. Slavery was ostensibly used as well, as an ends to justify the means. The means to Lincoln were the all-encompassing state. The near-absolute abolition of the sovereignty of individual states and the concept of states rights. Evidence of this can be found in letter that Abraham Lincoln wrote a New Yorker named Horace Greeley, August 29, 1862. Horace Greeley penned an op-ed titled “The Prayer of the 20 Million” in which he called for abolition of slavery in the United States. Lincoln became aware of the the piece by Horace Greeley and wrote a response by his own hand. A summary perhaps would be what Lincoln wrote, “What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I don’t believe it would help to save the Union.”
That should stir some healthy historical debate.
Why would I make Guns and Bikinis our Blog of the Day?
Well, their guns are BIG and the bikinis? Very small
