Court Upholds ‘Under God’ In Pledge Of Allegiance – Washington Post

A federal appeals court in San Francisco has ruled that the phrase “under God” in the Pledge of Allegiance is constitutional.

In a 2-1 ruling, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals panel rejected arguments by Sacramento atheist Michael Newdow that the phrase violates the separation between church and state.

Newdow’s previous lawsuit against the pledge in public schools reached the U.S. Supreme Court in 2004. But the high court said he didn’t have the legal standing to make the challenge on behalf of his daughter.

So Newdow, who is a doctor and lawyer, filed a similar challenge on behalf of other parents who objected to their children being required to recite “under God.”

In a separate ruling Thursday, the appeals court also upheld the use of the phrase “In God We Trust” on coins and currency.

It’s about time this country has seen the light.I remember every morning before we started school in kindergarden we would say the pledge of allegiance ,oh those were the days! The real America not the watered down version that is trying to reform before our eyes ,and raise it’s ugly head ,from some foreign force not from our forefathers but from some progressive movement that keeps trying to seep into this country quitely so the people won’t reconize it.It happened during the early 30′s and will happen again it we don’t stay vigilante,Wake up! The America I remember as a child, the real America founded under God,with Liberty and Justice for all.Not the terriorists that declared war on our country on 9/11 or did everyone forget already? Not to mention hiring lawyers with our tax money to represent these murders of war.Thank God some in this country still remembers what our fathers and forefathers did for us,died fighting for our freedom! It wasn’t free and still isn’t.
