Patriot Groups To Kickoff National Arizona BUYcott – First Things
While protestors have launched a sit in calling on the Governor to veto the bill launching the Country’s first major state enforcement efforts on illegal immigration, protesters like Al Sharpton are asking for a Boycott of the State.
In response, Patriot groups around the country want to support the rights of the people of Arizona and are calling for a BUYcott of the State.
The first BUYcott was in support of Whole Foods and was launched on September 1, 2009 by Tea Party leaders in St. Louis, Dallas, Austin, California, Philadelphia, New Jersey and more. The events drew serious national attention as one St. Louis store had BUYcott-attributable sales totaling over $50,000 in one night. Next, they BUYcotted Ford Motor Company, and Ford stocks have done well. Now conservatives around the country are standing up for Arizona.
Calls for the BUYcott began the moment the Arizona protesters called for a Boycott of Arizona, with conservative groups were saying, ‘let’s join forces and make our voices heard for Arizona!’ So that is exactly what they are all joining together to do.

The state’s leading export category is computers and electronic products, which alone accounted for nearly one-third (31 percent), or $4.3 billion, of Arizona’s total merchandise exports in 2009. Other top manufactured exports that year were transportation equipment ($2.5 billion); machinery manufactures ($1.3 billion); and fabricated metal products ($954 million).
Groups and businesses are asking that decision makers purchase exports coming out of Arizona, corporations plan their meetings there, and that families intentionally vacation there this summer when possible.
“There are many ways for real people to support the BUYcott” said Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit. “If my family has a vacation this year, I am thinking the Grand Canyon, where I worked as a youth, might just be the perfect getaway. The national parks in Arizona are spectacular, too.”
Tony Katz, host of The Tony Katz Radio Spectacular, has created the Buy Arizona! Initiative, and is offering free advertising on his daily radio show to support Arizona businesses.
Brooks Bayne of the LA Tea Party said “no matter how you feel about the issue, it is ridiculous to punish business owners with a Boycott.” Naturally, there are already BUYcott efforts on Facebook (Arizona Buycott) and Twitter (@ArizonaBUYcott).
Buycott organizers will have an update Saturday, at the “Winning America Back” conference in Kansas City, MO. Fred and Jeri Thompson, Liz Cheney and J.C. Watts will join Sarah Palin at the Independence Events Center, Saturday, May 1, 2010 for the conference.

No Joke: UN Appoints Iran To Women’s Rights Commission – National Review
The UN has elected Iran to its Commission on the Status of Women, handing a four-year seat on what is supposed to be an influential human-rights body to a theocratic state in which lashings are required for women deemed to be “immodest.”
So far among major media, only Joseph Abrams of Fox News seems to have picked up on this latest startling example of UN hypocrisy.

Lite blogging tonight.
Folks, I still feel weak and tired as heck from this allergy/sinus, whatever the Hell it is, that is kicking my butt. So, I am going to hit the recliner, try to watch my Mavs play and likely crash, long day at work Friday, so, good night.
Your Daley Douchebag today is………….
Charlie Crist, for being nothing more than a typical politician who could not care less about what is right, honor, or his former party, oh as you watch the vile video at Hot Air notice that he is, in fact an awful liar. Come on Charlie, just be honest, admit this all about YOU!
You think you know someone and then…………
You find out they are not what you thought. Take my blogging role model, Michelle Malkin for instance. I have admired her passion for Conservative principles, her patriotism, and her fearless approach to fighting for right over wrong. She is the one who inspired me, through her blogs, to start my own.
Then, today, I learn from The Other McCain that the lovely Michelle is NOT WHITE! Yes, stunning news I know, but, appaently it is true, since Michelle herself has now admitted to being less-than-White It sounds as if the news even shocked Michelle.

subject The color of your skinDear Michelle:
I have never met you or heard from you until today.
I didnt’ need to hear you for too long to know the kind of person you are or what are your personally.
I just wondering how or where did you learned to speak like the way you do.
Because you are are not white, and that is obvious, I would like to invite you to take a walk around or drive in Arizona and see and feel in your own skin the racism that exist [sic] in that state. I really would like you to experience first hand the racial prejudice. I would like you to feel how does it feel to be discrimated [sic] for the simple reason of the color of your skin.
Take a walk in Arizona. By yourself. Because you are not white no matter how hard you try to be white, you will never be white . no matter how hard you try to speak like a white person. you will never will be one and your father and your mother and sisters and brothers will never be white no matter how hard you try.
Oh my God! You mean Michelle is not only not White, but she can, it seems never be White? Wow, what an insightful guy this Ruben character is.
Seriously though, what kind of ass clown are you Ruben? How racist are you? Why are you so convinced that ALL people of any race must sound, think, and opine exactly alike? Have you no interest in diversity of thought, of ideals? Come on Ruben, wake up and get off the identity politics crack you are smoking. Skin color, Ruben,, is only skin deep, and true diversity, has nothing to do with skin or gender, or anything like that. Ruben, stop judging everyone by their looks, or their speech. Open that mind up Ruben. And stop presuming everyone must think racially Ruben.

RINO Christ To Run As Independent – Washington Times
Florida Gov. Charlie Crist will likely bolt the Republican party and seek election to the U.S. Senate as an independent, a close confidante said Wednesday.
Crist will announce his plans at 5 p.m. Thursday in his hometown of St. Petersburg. The confidante, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement has not been made, cautioned that Crist can be unpredictable.
The announcement will end weeks of speculation about whether Crist will abandon the GOP after falling far behind former House Speaker and tea party favorite Marco Rubio in polls.
Crist has openly considered running without party affiliation. Top Republicans from former Vice President Dick Cheney to former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney have encouraged him to stay in the primary or drop out rather than risking a split vote that could benefit likely Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek.
Crist did not return calls for comment Wednesday, but told reporters at the Capitol that he was very close to making a decision.

Asked how he would explain running without a party when he had said he was going to run as a Republican, he replied: “I don’t know, number one, that I’m not, and number two, if I were to, I would say what I said the other day: Things change.”
Another possible sign of Crist’s intentions: His campaign website has been stripped of almost any mention of his Republican affiliation with one prominent exception, an endorsement from Sandy Yancey, a former GOP committeewoman, who says, “The Republican Party is being hijacked by ultra conservatives that have let compassion and logic fly out the window.”
The most recent poll by Quinnipiac University had Rubio leading Crist by 23 points in the primary, but it suggested Crist could win a three-way race with him and Meek.
Meek could be the biggest beneficiary if Crist goes independent. Polls show him losing badly in a head-to-head race with either Rubio or Crist, but competitive in a three-way race if he can keep the Democratic base while Crist peels off some Republican votes from Rubio and picks up GOP-leaning independents.
If Crist runs as an independent, he will have a harder time raising money and will lose most of his campaign staff, who will likely be blacklisted from future Republican campaigns if they stick with him.

Reason # 1 why Rick Perry ought to be president
Texas governor Rick Perry, my governor, knows how to deal with threats. Doug Powers, blogging for my blogging role model, has the details
This could cost Texas Governor Rick Perry the endorsement of PETA, but to save the life of his dog, it’s worth it:
AUSTIN, Texas – Pistol-packing Texas Gov. Rick Perry has a message for wily coyotes out there: Don’t mess with my dog.
Perry told The Associated Press on Tuesday he needed just one shot from the laser-sighted pistol he sometimes carries while jogging to take down a coyote that menaced his puppy during a February run near Austin.
Perry said he will carry his .380 Ruger — loaded with hollow-point bullets — when jogging on trails because he is afraid of snakes. He’d also seen coyotes in the undeveloped area.
When one came out of the brush toward his daughter’s Labrador retriever, Perry charged.
“Don’t attack my dog or you might get shot … if you’re a coyote,” he said Tuesday.
I have a few coyotes living near my neighborhood, and they sometimes wander into the yard, so I am cautious when taking my dog out. And yes, I would kill a coyote if needed to protect Tia. Governor Perry obviously values self-defense, and knows how to deal with threatening coyotes.
I wonder how our president might have handled this? Invited the coyote for a beer summit? Asked the UN to lay down sanctions? Maybe he would have Rahmbo come and curse the coyote out? Hmmm, like I said, Perry would be far better than Obama!
I second that emotion!
You know, for a bag of bolts, and metal, that Phil guy is pretty sharp!
Those freedom lovers who put liberty before all, to a fault. Sometimes they miss the fact that while the ideas Libertarianism promotes are very worthy and worthwhile, practicality just gets in the way.
While it is true that most people are virtuous, moral and well meaning. Some are mean, amoral, or just downright evil and can’t be trusted. It is the latter that governments are invented to protect us from. Sometimes I think that most dyed-in-the-wool Libertarians forget this.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of Libertarianism, I think it is at the core of the founding principles and of Conservatism. I also think it must be tempered with common sense. I’ve said before at the other blog that I believe the founders meant to limit the Federal Government to affairs of the nation as a whole. It has no place in our personal lives. Yes, I believe the income tax, social security and medicare/aide and the Seventeenth Amendment should all be repealed in due time. I know that most Libertarians would agree with me on this.
Where we get sideways though, is the issue of where the state and local governments have jurisdiction. A Libertarian friend once told me that even state or local government should have no place in your personal life. If this is the Libertarian’s belief, then they are wrong.
The Tenth Amendment lays it out with clarity that cannot be ignored.
Amendment X
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
Go and read the entire piece, it is well worth it. I would add one thing I am sure Phil would agree with. That is that all governments, State, local, etc. should restrain themselves from passing unneeded laws, that encroach into the personal lives of the people. In other words, to paraphrase Jefferson, the government should make laws preventing people from harming one another, and stay out of their lives otherwise.
Anytime government attempts to become our nanny, it erodes our natural rights in my opinion. We are intended to be free, and any efforts that restrict that natural condition are, to me, an abomination.
Of course, this is why the people should stay vigilant and jealous of their rights, and not just on national issues. Often our liberties are stripped away by overzealous city or county governments. We must be wary of their tendencies to move from our servants to our masters.
Yes, the fight for border security is a fight for American sovereignty
Forget all the talking points the Left uses to argue in favor of allowing immigrants to ignore our laws. The real goal is to destroy American sovereignty, period!
Moonbattery has some photos of some of the thugs who wish to destroy our country. And yes, a nation that is either incapable, or unwilling to control its borders and who enters that nation is doomed. Our enemies, and YES, HELL YES, these people in these photos are our enemies, wish to destroy us. They wish to retake the Southwest. They are racists, imperialists, Marxists and are as much our enemies as the Soviet Union ever was.
I certainly wish no bad will towards the vast majority of Mexicans who enter this nation illegally. Most are fine people deserving of respect. However, I do wish them to return home, and to re-enter this nation in the lawful fashion prescribed by our laws. In other words, I have no issue with any immigrant who enters this nation LEGALLY! But, again, without laws that are enforced, America will, eventually lose its sovereignty that must not be allowed to happen.
Maybe the best column on guns I have ever read
Via Storm Bringer comes this excellent column
The Gun is CivilizationBy “Major L. Caudill, USMC(Ret)” – a.k.a. Marko Kloos
Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that’s it.
In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.
When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force.
The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender.
There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we’d be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger’s potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat — it has no validity when most of a mugger’s potential marks are armed.People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that’s the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.
Then there’s the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser. People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don’t constitute lethal force watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level.
The gun is the only weapon that’s as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply wouldn’t work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn’t both lethal and easily employable.
When I carry a gun, I don’t do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I’m looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded. I don’t carry it because I’m afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn’t limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force.
It removes force from the equation . . . and that’s why carrying a gun is a civilized act.
I love this story
The Supreme Court has ruled that the much-debated Cross in the Mojave Desert can stay, this is sure to rile up the radical Atheist types, who, for some reason, are deathly afraid of something they profess not to believe in. Donald Douglas has some details
At WSJ, “High Court Says Mojave Desert Cross Can Remain“:
The Supreme Court on Wednesday reversed a lower court decision that could have required removal of a cross that has stood in California’s Mojave National Preserve for generations.
Although it splintered in its reasoning, the court suggested strongly that the cross should remain because Congress has transferred the small plot on which it stands to a private group, addressing constitutional concerns.
“The goal of avoiding governmental endorsement does not require eradication of all religious symbols in the public realm,” wrote Justice Anthony Kennedy. “This cross,” he wrote, “evokes thousands of small crosses in foreign fields marking the graves of Americans who fell in battles.”
The cross was originally erected on the site in 1934 by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, to honor American soldiers who died in World War I. The cross has been maintained or rebuilt over the decades by members of the veterans group.
A win for the good, reasonable people, including the vast majority of Atheists, who are, unlike the ACLU types, good, decent, and TRULY TOLERANT people!

Thai Troops Fire Into Crowd Of Protesters – MSNBC
Thai security forces and anti-government protesters clashed Wednesday on the outskirts of Bangkok, with troops firing both over and then directly into a crowd of Red Shirts to keep them from expanding their demonstrations. At least 16 protesters were wounded and one soldier was killed.
It was not immediately clear if the troops were shooting live ammunition or rubber bullets in the confrontation along a major road connecting Bangkok with its northern suburbs that security forces had blocked with razor wire.
There were conflicting reports about the shooting of the Thai soldier. Thai sources told NBC that the incident was likely a friendly fire accident.
About 450 soldiers and riot police set up a checkpoint on a highway in Bangkok’s northern suburbs, some firing into the air with automatic weapons and shotguns in an attempt to stop about 1,000 protesters on pickup trucks and on motorcycles.

Dozens of protesters had moved ahead of the main convoy, charging the troops and riot police, who used batons and shields to push them back, according to a Reuters witness. Protesters fought back by hurling stones.
The fighting stopped as a powerful tropical rainstorm moved over the traffic-choked area about 25 miles from central Bangkok.
The main convoy of protesters was about five miles behind the scene of the clash, the latest violence in a seven-week crisis that has killed 26 people, paralyzed Bangkok and squeezed Southeast Asia’s second-biggest economy.
The protesters, honking horns and singing as they traveled in pick-up trucks and motorcycles, left their fortified base by a road near the business district on Wednesday morning, heading for a market 30 miles away.
Riot police and troops did not try to stop them initially and thousands remained at their encampment in a ritzy shopping district in central Bangkok they have occupied since April 3.

Toilet Paper Bandit Sought – Smoking Gun
A man who wrapped his head in toilet paper was caught on surveillance video as he calmly pulled off the knifepoint robbery of a Nebraska convenience store Saturday night.
The video shows the unknown robber walking up to Kabredlo’s store, as a clerk was smoking outside. After accompanying the employee back inside, the suspect flashed a knife and demanded money.

Pint-Sized Foal May Be World’s Smallest – Stuff
A diminutive horse born in New Hampshire could lay claim to the world record for lightweight foal. The pinto stallion named Einstein weighed just 6 pounds and measured 14 inches tall when he was born Friday in Barnstead.
Those proportions fit a human baby just about right but are downright tiny for horse, even a miniature breed like Einstein.

Sumo Wrestlers Make Babies Cry – Orange News
Sumo wrestlers have been deliberately making babies cry in a spring festival in Japan. The aim of the game at the annual Naki Sumo is to make babies cry as loudly as possible.
Eager mothers bring the babies to the event where Sumo wrestlers and high priests are on hand to coax babies into a maddened state of wailing. The event is held each year at the Sensoji Temple in Tokyo.

Designer Cracks Butt Problem – IOL
A US designer has come up with an invention that covers up your “butt cleavage” when wearing low-rise jeans. Kimberly Brewer has created the Backtacular Gluteal Cleft Shield, an adhesive fabric patch that’s applied directly to the skin.
She came up with the idea while sporting her favourite jeans, which exposed too much of her “gluteal cleft” whenever she sat or bent over.
Marxist Morons of the Day
Yes, even stupider than Contessa Brewer’s “Being an illegal immigrant is now a crime” quote.
From Thomas Saenz, president and general counsel of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund:
“If every state had its own laws, we wouldn’t be one country; we’d be 50 different countries,”
Why do Nanny Staters hate little kids?
Because they wish to control every last aspect of our lives because THEY KNOW BETTER!
The latest target in the battle over fast food is something you shouldn’t even put in your mouth.
Convinced that Happy Meals and other food promotions aimed at children could make kids fat as well as happy, county officials in Silicon Valley are poised to outlaw the little toys that often come with high-calorie offerings.
The proposed ban is the latest in a growing string of efforts to change the types of foods aimed at youngsters and the way they are cooked and sold. Across the nation, cities, states and school boards have taken aim at excessive sugar, salt and certain types of fats.
Folks, this mindset is not about saving people, or helping, it is about ENSLAVING all of us to government nanny statists that will tell us when and what to eat, read, drink, and if they can think.
Hypocrisy- Thy name is Felipe Calderon
Calderon, is, of course, the president of Mexico, and he is highly critical of Arizona’s new immigration law.
Mexican President Felipe Calderon on Monday condemned Arizona’s tough new immigration law as discriminatory and warned that relations with the U.S. border state will suffer.
The measure, which will make it a crime under state law to be an illegal immigrant, “opens the door to intolerance, hate, discrimination and abuse in law enforcement,” Calderon said.
Calderon said he had instructed the Foreign Relations Department to double its efforts to protect the rights of Mexicans living in the United States and seek help from lawyers and immigration experts.
“Nobody can sit around with their arms crossed in the face of decisions that so clearly affect our countrymen,” Calderon said in a speech at the Institute for Mexicans Abroad.
The Arizona law restored immigration to the forefront of U.S.-Mexico relations, which had largely been focused on deeper cooperation in the drug war.
The law, set to take effect in late July or August, will require police to question people about their immigration status if they suspect they are there illegally. Day laborers can be arrested for soliciting work if they are in the U.S. illegally, and police departments can be sued if they don’t carry out the law.
OK, you might say, fine, he has his opinion on the law, where is the hypocrisy? Well, glad you asked that. Cassy Fiano lays out the Mexican immigration laws for us. And folks, they are far tougher than Arizona’s.
They actually have the toughest immigration laws on the continent. According to Human Events, they even deport more people annually than the United States does.
Who could disagree with such a law? It makes perfect sense. The Mexican constitution strictly defines the rights of citizens — and the denial of many fundamental rights to non-citizens, illegal and illegal. Under the constitution, the Ley General de Población, or
General Law on Population, spells out specifically the country’s immigration policy. It is an interesting law — and one that should cause us all to ask, Why is our great southern neighbor pushing us to water down our own immigration laws and policies, when its own immigration restrictions are the toughest on the continent? If a felony is a crime punishable by more than one year in prison, then Mexican law makes it a felony to be an illegal alien in Mexico.
If the United States adopted such statutes, Mexico no doubt would denounce it as a manifestation of American racism and bigotry.
… Foreigners who fail to obey the rules will be fined, deported, and/or imprisoned as felons:
- Foreigners who fail to obey a deportation order are to be punished. (Article 117)
- Foreigners who are deported from Mexico and attempt to re-enter the country without authorization can be imprisoned for up to 10 years. (Article 118)
- Foreigners who violate the terms of their visa may be sentenced to up to six years in prison (Articles 119, 120 and 121). Foreigners who misrepresent the terms of their visa while in Mexico — such as working with out a permit — can also be imprisoned.
Under Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony. The General Law on Population says,
- “A penalty of up to two years in prison and a fine of three hundred to five thousand pesos will be imposed on the foreigner who enters the country illegally.” (Article 123)
- Foreigners with legal immigration problems may be deported from Mexico instead of being imprisoned. (Article 125)
- Foreigners who “attempt against national sovereignty or security” will be deported. (Article 126)
Mexicans who help illegal aliens enter the country are themselves considered criminals under the law:
- A Mexican who marries a foreigner with the sole objective of helping the foreigner live in the country is subject to up to five years in prison. (Article 127)
- Shipping and airline companies that bring undocumented foreigners into Mexico will be fined. (Article 132)
Hypocrisy anyone? Of course, since Mexico’s economy is largely dependent upon money sent back there by illegal immigrants working here, it is not too tough to see why Calderon is suffering a bout of Selective Outrage Syndrome. And Cassy does a fine job in explaining how Calderon comes by his less-than-consistent standards
Why? Well, let me shed some light into his mindset:
I have said that Mexico does not stop at its border, that wherever there is a Mexican, there is Mexico.
Seems to me like Felipe Calderon is engaging in a reconquista, no? Before Obama goes against Arizona in favor of illegal immigrants, perhaps he should consider that.
See, Calderon is just playing the Leftist line here. U.S. sovereignty and strength are bad, and must be torn down at all costs. Those countries that are not as successful or prosperous as the United States? Instead of emulating the things that made America a power, and instead of raising THEIR standards up, the Left always wants to tear down the more successful, to reach their perverse definition of “equality”.
