USA Swimming Coaches Molested And Secretly Taped Dozens Of Teen Swimmers – Gather
In what is sure to be the most disturbing story of the week, and yet another reason to lose trust in humanity… ABC is reporting that 36 Swim Coaches have been “Banned for Life Because of Sexual Misconduct with Teens”. That misconduct includes secretly taping teen girls naked while in the locker room and showering.
Additionally the coaches molested, fondled and abused dozens of swimmers, according to court records and interviews conducted by ABC News for reports Friday on “World News with Diane Sawyer” and “20/20.”
The story first came out in 2008 when one coach, Brian Hindson (pictured below) of Kokomo, Indiana, was caught with multiple tapes of said naked teens on his home computer. He had sold his home computer on ebay, but apparently forgot to erase his hard drive. When the purchaser received the computer, they found the secret tapes and turned the computer over to the FBI.
When the FBI searched Hindson’s home, they not only found more locker room tapes of the teen swimmers he had been coaching, but a large amount of child pornography. According to Lt. Don Whitehead of the Kokomo, IN police department’s cyber crime, “This had gone on for nearly 10 years, without any detection whatsoever.”
In 2008 Hindson was sentenced to 33 years in federal prison, but the real question is how could this have happened?

Teacher’s Union Prays For N.J. Governor’s Death – Fox News
No one in the New Jersey governor’s office is laughing at a teachers’ union memo, supposedly intended as a joke, that implies a wish for God to kill Republican Governor Chris Christie.
A New York TV station reports the Bergen County Education Association issued a memo that ends with a prayer, telling God that after the recent deaths of a favorite actor and singer: “I just wanted to let you know – that Chris Christie is my favorite governor.”

Officials Say Pakistani Strikes Kill 96 Militants – Townhall
Pakistani airstrikes killed nearly 100 suspected militants in two northwest tribal regions Saturday, an apparent intensification of efforts by the army to mop up Taliban fighters fleeing a military operation farther south.
The strikes were carried out in the Orakzai and Khyber tribal regions. In Orakzai, some 54 alleged militants were killed during ongoing clashes over a checkpoint in the Baizoti town area.

Searchers found four bodies deep in a West Virginia coal mine shattered by an explosion, raising the death toll to 29 and ending an excruciating week for families holding onto faint hopes that their missing miners had survived.
Crews are to soon begin the bleak task of carrying out 22 bodies from Massey Energy Co.’s Upper Big Branch mine, though officials said Saturday no timetable has been set.

One judge’s solution for citizens feeling less secure because of budget cuts in an Ohio county: Carry a gun.

Margot Magowan a blogger for the San Francisco Chronicle must have gone to college. I say that not because she seems so well educated, but because she seems to hate traditional gender roles. In a short April 7 blog post Magowan furiously attacked the magazine Good Housekeeping for its latest cover story on First Lady Michelle Obama. Magowan hated the photo, claims she hates “the media’s” supposed “abuse” of first ladies, and even more to the point hates the fact that a magazine named Good Housekeeping still even “lives on” in this day and age when all things connected with homemaking should have been destroyed by the triumph of feminism long ago… as far as she is concerned apparently.

Polish president killed in plane crash
Absolutely terrible news greeted me when I flipped on Fox this morning.
President Lech Kaczynski and other senior Polish figures are among scores killed in a plane crash in Russia.
Polish and Russian officials said no-one survived after the plane apparently hit trees as it approached Smolensk airport in thick fog.
Poland’s army chief, central bank governor, MPs and leading historians were among more than 80 passengers.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the crash was the most tragic event of the country’s post-World War II history.

Is it me, or is this administration dead set on crippling American businesses with nanny state regulations? Maybe Liberals do not grasp that their useless regs force businesses to spend tons of money to be compliant. Maybe they do not understand that that money would be used to expand, or hire more workers, or to give raises to current employees. Or maybe, deep down, they just hate Capitalism that much. Maybe they are so ignorant of basic history that the fail to see that punishing success hurts everyone, and helps no one. Rather than seeking to help the nation by making it easier for everyone to succeed, they prefer to tear down those that do succeed.

Bergen County representatives of the state teachers union have ratcheted up the campaign against Governor Christie’s agenda in a fiery memo that encourages members to “get some dirt” and “go public,” and adds the education commissioner to the “attack list.” But it’s the memo’s closing “prayer” that is sure to ignite controversy:
“Dear Lord … this year you have taken away my favorite actor, Patrick Swayze, my favorite actress, Farrah Fawcett, my favorite singer, Michael Jackson, and my favorite salesman, Billy Mays. … I just wanted to let you know that Chris Christie is my favorite governor.”
The memo, sent to locals in the county earlier this week and obtained by The Record on Thursday, is signed by New Jersey Education Association field representatives, including Joe Coppola, president of the Bergen County Education Association.

An utterly perfect statement followed by an utterly perfect question. Really. The short answer is .000564935 cents. For simplicity’s sake let’s round up and say that Rep. Grayson’s salary of $174,000 per year divided by 308 million citizens is .0006 cents.

Ed noted this in his post earlier, but I wanted to add my take. Many will cheer Stupak’s decision, it opens up another Democratic seatm and rids of a truly despicable man with no honor or integrity. However, Stupak played a very large role in passing Obamacare before he fled the scene of his crime. He helped do some major damage to this nation when he sold out his ” pro-life principles” for political favors.
And make no mistake, Stupak likely knew he was going to step aside before the health care vote. So, in the end, he stabbed the Constitution, and his constituents in the back, knowing he would never have to face any electoral consequences. He is the worst kind of coward, and now must serve as an example of how much damage can be done when the people elect an unworthy man to represent them.
Therefore, let us resolve to not only toss out the weasels in November, but to also not elect anymore to replace them!

Justice Stevens Announces Retirement – Fox News
In a move that was widely expected, Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens announced his intention to resign from the high court in a letter to President Obama dated Friday. Stevens resignation gives Obama his second opportunity to make a lifetime appointment to the Supreme Court and sets up a near certain Senate confirmation battle this summer.
In his letter to the president, Stevens concluded that “it would be in the best interests of the Court to have my successor appointed and confirmed” before the next high court term starts in October. He will remain on the bench through the end of the current term which is likely end in late June.
Stevens has been on the bench longer than any other current member of the Supreme Court and was a federal appellate judge in Chicago in 1975 when President Gerald Ford picked him for the high court.
Chief Justice John Roberts issued a statement Friday saying Stevens “has enriched the lives of everyone at the Court through his intellect, independence, and warm grace.”
Stevens impact in the bench was immediate as his vote helped forge a narrow majority to reinstate the death penalty. But by 2008, Stevens concluded the way capital punishment was carried out by states was pointless and “patently excessive and cruel and unusual punishment.”
It was “a conclusion that the stable ground that he thought he found early on wasn’t proving as stable as he would have liked,” Stewart Baker, a former Stevens law clerk told Fox News.
Stevens was born in 1920 and raised in his beloved hometown of Chicago. His family ran the old Stevens Hotel on Michigan Avenue until the Great Depression knocked them out of business. In between his college studies at the University of Chicago and Northwestern Law School where he finished first in his class he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was awarded a bronze star for his work as part of the famous Codebreakers stationed in Hawaii.
In 1947, Stevens did a one year clerkship for Justice Wiley Rutledge. A man Stevens would later call a hero. It is perhaps because of this experience that Stevens would make sure he engaged his clerks in the day-to-day operations of the Court.

Obama Orders Assassination Of U.S. Citizen – OpEdNews
For the first time in history, an American president has officially ordered the assassination of a US citizen. President Barack Obama has approved the “targeted killing” of Anwar al-Awlaki, a US-born Muslim cleric who is reported to be in hiding in Yemen.
No substantial evidence has been brought to bear against Awlaki, 38, who is accused of terrorism, and he will be afforded no legal recourse against the death sentence.

New Species ‘Live Without Oxygen’ – The Telegraph
Three species of creature, which are only a millimetre long and resemble jellyfish encased in shells, were found 2.2 miles underwater on the ocean floor, 124 miles off the coast of Crete, in an area with almost no oxygen.
The animals, named Loriciferans due to their protective layer, or lorica, were discovered by a team led by Roberto Danovaro from Marche Polytechnic University in Ancona, Italy.

Muslim Woman Strangled By Her Burkha In Freak Go-Kart Accident – Daily Mail
A young Muslim woman had died after her burkha became snagged in a go-kart. The 24-year-old woman, who has not yet been named, died a terrifying death today when a fluttering part of her burkha became caught in the wheels of a go-kart she was driving near the town of Port Stephens, north of Sydney.
The Muslim clothing the woman was wearing flew back as she sped around the track and part of it became entangled in the go-kart’s wheels. She was strangled in a second and crashed the vehicle.

Typo Adds Three Years To Jail Term – Stuff
A Thai man has been released from an Indonesian prison after spending three extra years behind bars because of a typo in his paperwork. Kamjai Khong Thavorn, 53, should have been released in 2007 after serving a 20-year sentence for heroin possession but a clerical error wrongly stated his first year in prison as 1997 instead of 1987.
Kamjai was released Thursday after he told Indonesia’s justice minister of the mistake during a chance meeting on the minister’s tour of the maximum security prison in Central Java, it said.

Burglar Posted Himself To Victims – Orange News
Police in Poland have arrested a man for a series of raids in which he allegedly climbed into large parcels and posted himself to businesses. Stanislaw Muchy, 39, would then apparently climb out at night after staff had clocked off and burgle the premises, reports Metro.
He made his getaway by sealing both himself and his loot into another box addressed to his Warsaw home, say police. His scheme came to an end after he fell out with an accomplice, whose job was to deliver him to courier firms, who contacted police.

Number Of States Suing Over ObamaCare Grows To 18 – Liberty Scout
If you were only listening to Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, you would think that everyone thinks their health care takeover is super amazing. However, not only are the majority of Americans against ObamaCare, the number of states challenging the health care reform in court has grown to 18.
Five more states are joining a Florida-led group of states in a lawsuit challenging President Barack Obama’s overhaul of the U.S. healthcare system, Florida’s attorney general said on Wednesday.
The joint lawsuit led by Florida and now grouping 18 states was filed on March 23 by mostly Republican attorney generals.
It claims the sweeping reform of the $2.5 trillion U.S. healthcare system, pushed through by Democrats in the Congress after months of bitter partisan fighting, violates state-government rights in the U.S. Constitution and will force massive new spending on hard-pressed state governments.
While some legal scholars think the suits will reach the Supreme Court, many agree that the supremacy clause of the Constitution, which puts the powers of the U.S. government above those of the states, will trump the states’ arguments.
South Carolina, Nebraska, Texas, Utah, Louisiana, Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Washington, Idaho, and South Dakota had previously joined Florida’s lawsuit.
All of these states’ attorney-generals are Republicans, except for Louisiana, where the post is held by a Democrat.
“We welcome the partnership of Indiana, North Dakota, Mississippi, Nevada and Arizona as we continue fighting to protect the constitutional rights of American citizens and the sovereignty of our states,” Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum said.

A Stanford University study commissioned by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says California’s public pension funds are underfunded by as much as $500 billion.
The estimated shortfall applies to the retirement systems for California state and local government workers, teachers and University of California employees. Analysts at those funds estimated their unfunded liabilities to be much lower.

New Filings For Unemployment Benefits Increase By 18,000 – Ozarks First
The number of new filings for unemployment benefits ticked upwards last week. The latest Labor Department report shows 460,000 initial claims were filed, an increase of 18,000 from the previous week.
The total number of claims filed for the week ending March 27th, including continuing claims, was just over 4.5 million. The insured unemployment rate was three-and-a-half-percent, a loss of a tenth of a percent from the week before.

Officials: Jet Restroom Smoker Caused Bomb Scare – My Way
Qatar’s U.S. ambassador rushed to the defense of his envoy whom authorities say grabbed a surreptitious smoke in a jetliner’s bathroom, sparking a bomb scare and widespread alert that sent jet fighters scrambling to intercept the Denver-bound flight.

Half Of U.S. Pays No Income Tax – MSNBC
Tax Day is a dreaded deadline for millions, but for nearly half of U.S. households it’s simply somebody else’s problem. About 47 percent will pay no federal income taxes at all for 2009.
Either their incomes were too low, or they qualified for enough credits, deductions and exemptions to eliminate their liability. That’s according to projections by the Tax Policy Center, a Washington research organization.

Toomey Pulls Ahead Of Specter In New Poll – The Hill
Pennsylvania Senate candidate Pat Toomey (R) is ahead of Sen. Arlen Specter (D-Pa.) in a new poll. A Quinnipiac University poll released Thursday found the former congressman was ahead of Specter 46 percent to 41.
The poll of 1,412 voters was taken from March 30 to April 5. Toomey trailed Specter in a poll released last month. In the new survey, Specter was viewed unfavorably by 46 percent of voters and 17 percent of Democrats.

Littleton Fires Judge Who Issued Warrant For Overdue DVD – Denver Post
The City Council fired longtime Municipal Judge James Kimmel on Tuesday night after he issued an arrest warrant for a teenager who had an overdue $30 DVD from a local library.

A serial panties thief has proved to be no match for a Dunedin super sleuth. Nick Reeves began keeping an overnight watch after hundreds of items of underwear started disappearing from his mother’s and neighbours’ lines in the suburb of Abbotsford this year.

German Supplier Takes Steaks From Diners’ Plates – Yahoo News
A German meat supplier has found a novel solution to unpaid bills: repossessing the steaks right off diners’ plates. Police in Aachen said Thursday that a dispute over money ended with the man grabbing his wares off the plates of some 20 bemused guests at a restaurant in the western city.
A furious argument erupted in the kitchen after the man made his daily delivery Wednesday evening but was told the restaurant didn’t immediately have the euro400 ($535) in cash to pay his bill.

Man’s Threat To Bring Jet Down With His Mind – Ananova
An airline passenger had to be restrained by flight stewards after he threatened to bring down the plane with the power of his mind. An Australian reporter on the flight said passengers sitting near the man believed he was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and had religious delusions.
Stewards on the Qantas flight from Sydney to Singapore handcuffed the man’s arms and legs about five hours into flight. Police in Singapore police boarded the flight and arrested the man after passengers disembarked.
