Israel Navy Commandos: Gaza Flotilla Activists Tried To Lynch Us – Haaretz
Activists on board a six-ship flotilla carrying aid to the Gaza Strip tried to lynch the Israel Navy commandos who boarded their Turkish-flagged boat early Monday, Israel Defense Forces sources told Haaretz on Monday afternoon. At least nine people were killed and several more were wounded in the fighting that erupted aboard one of the ships.
The IDF confirmed that at least seven Navy commandos had been wounded, two of them seriously, in a fight which apparently broke out after activists tried to seize their weapons.
The commandos, who intercepted the Turkish ferry Mavi Marmara after it ignored orders to turn back from its course to Gaza, said they had encountered violent resistance from activists armed with sticks and knives. According to the commandos, the activists threw one of the soldiers from the upper deck to the lower after they boarded. The organizers of the flotilla said the troops opened fire first.
An Israeli military spokesman said some of the commandos were equipped with paintball guns but the non-lethal weapons were not enough against activists who charged in with batons.
“They had pistols with live ammunition as back-up, to defend themselves,” he said. The IDF said it had confiscated two pistols from the boat.
One of the commandos told reporters he descended by rope from a helicopter onto one of the six ships in the convoy and was immediately attacked by a group of people waiting for them.
“They beat us with metal sticks and knives,” he said. “There was live fire at some point against us.”
A Reuters cameraman on the Israel Navy ship Kidon, sailing close to the convoy, said IDF commanders monitoring the operation were surprised by the strong resistance put up by the pro-Palestinian activists.
One of the commandos said some of the soldiers were stripped of their helmets and equipment and a several were tossed from the top deck to a lower deck, forcing them to jump into the sea to escape.
“They jumped me, hit me with clubs and bottles and stole my rifle,” one of the commandos said. “I pulled out my pistol and had no choice but to shoot.”
The soldiers said they were forced to open fire after the activists struck one of their comrades in the head and trampled on him. A senior IDF field commander ordered the soldiers then to respond with fire, a decision which the commandos said received full backing the military echelon.

Turkish police blocked dozens of stone-throwing protesters who tried to storm the Israeli Consulate in Istanbul over reports of an Israeli attack on at least one aid ship in international waters.
CNN-Turk and NTV showed dozens of angry protesters scuffling with Turkish police guarding the consulate in downtown Istanbul. “Damn Israel,” the protesters shouted.

Pacific Volcano Erupts Near Mariana Islands – Fox News
A volcanic eruption near the Pacific’s Northern Mariana Islands shot clouds of ash and vapor nearly eight miles into the sky, federal scientists said.
The eruption occurred early Saturday and appeared to come from an underwater volcano off Sarigan, a sparsely inhabited island about 100 miles north of the U.S. commonwealth’s main island of Saipan.

Santos Crushes Rival In Colombia Preliminary Presidential Vote – Bloomberg
Colombia’s former Defense Minister Juan Santos appeared likely to become the country’s next president after beating Antanas Mockus by a two-to-one margin in first round of balloting.
Santos won 47 percent against 21 percent for the former Bogota mayor, who ran on an anti-corruption platform for the opposition Green Party. Santos fell short of the majority of votes needed to avoid a June 20 runoff.

Brewer, a Republican, said she took action after state Attorney General Terry Goddard, a Democrat, met Friday with Justice Department lawyers, who then met with her legal advisers.

President Obama’s Memorial Day address at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery was just getting started today when lightning and heavy rains forced the cancellation of the proceedings.
The president, umbrella in hand, encouraged spectators to get to a safe place to ride out the storm and said he would hold off the ceremony because he didn’t want anyone to get hurt.

Idigenous Mexicans? Not so much

What you are seeing here is an attempt to delegitimize the United States in the same way Palestinian nationalists have attempted to delegitimize Israel. Like the “Zionism is racism” argument that Palestinians use to justify their terrorism against Jews in israel, the advocates of a Mexican reconsquista proclaim that the mere desire of Americans to control their borders — to have an orderly system of immigration — is “racist.”
Furthermore, playing upon the mestizo ancestry of most of the migrants. these activists portray themselves as victims of colonial oppression — “trespassing, theft, murder,” et cetera. Being “indigenous,” they insist they have a right to reside anywhere on the continent, since “false borders” are a European imposition.
What these activists are attempting to do is to propogate a racist/nationalist myth — a sort of fascism. What else to say about their claim that, because most Mexicans have some native ancestry, that this gives them to a right to reside hundreds of miles north of the homelands of their own peoples? It’s as if the Mayan Empire had belatedly laid claim to Arizona.
The argument of La Raza strives dehumanize whites by depicting whites as genocidal racist monsters. Not to put too fine a point on it, this is a direct attack on Western civilization and an invitation to lawless savagery. If U.S. borders and immigration laws are illegitimate, then how can any other U.S. law be legitimate? If “Europeans” are automatically guilty of “trespassing, theft, murder,” then how can these “squatters” complain if they are in similarly victimized by the “indigenous peoples”?

Flotilla of Fools? Isn’t there a more fitting name for pro-terror douchebags
Stacy McCain and Israelly Cool report that the “social activists” trying to break the blockade of Gaza have encountered the Israeli Navy.
The Israeli Navy made its first contact with a flotilla carrying hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists and thousands of tons of supplies for Gaza shortly before midnight on Sunday, surprising the boats in international waters, according to activists on one vessel. Israel has vowed not to let the flotilla reach the shores of Gaza, where the Islamic militant group Hamas holds sway, putting the activists and the Israelis on a public relations collision course.
Named the Freedom Flotilla, and led by the pro-Palestinian Free Gaza Movement and a Turkish organization, Insani Yardim Vakfi, the convoy of six cargo and passenger boats is the most ambitious attempt yet to break Israel’s three-year blockade of Gaza.

Meanwhile, the flotilla passengers are revealing their true colors..and agendas.
Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon responded to what he called “anti-Semitic chants” that came from the ship’s passengers and were broadcast on Israel Radio.
Some of the passengers on the ships were recorded shouting chants to remember Haifa since the army of Muhammad will soon return.
Ah what is this? Anti-Semitism from pro-Palestinian “activists” shocking! Much more at the link above, and the evidence is clear that this is no peaceful freedom flotilla. Here is just a small sampling
The Navy commandoes were prepared to mostly encounter political activists seeking to hold a protest, rather than trained street fighters. The soldiers were told they were to verbally convince activists who offer resistance to give up, and only then use paintballs. They were permitted to use their handguns only under extreme circumstances.
The planned rush towards the vessel’s bridge became impossible, even when a second chopper was brought in with another crew of soldiers. “Throw stun grenades,” shouted Flotilla 13’s commander who monitored the operation. The Navy chief was not too far, on board a speedboat belonging to Flotilla 13, along with forces who attempted to climb into the back of the ship.
The forces hurled stun grenades, yet the rioters on the top deck, whose number swelled up to 30 by that time, kept on beating up about 30 commandoes who kept gliding their way one by one from the helicopter. At one point, the attackers nabbed one commando, wrested away his handgun, and threw him down from the top deck to the lower deck, 30 feet below. The soldier sustained a serious head wound and lost his consciousness. Only after this injury did Flotilla 13 troops ask for permission to use live fire. The commander approved it: You can go ahead and fire. The soldiers pulled out their handguns and started shooting at the rioters’ legs, a move that ultimately neutralized them. Meanwhile, the rioters started to fire back at the commandoes.
So much for “social justice” and “peace”. This is about destroying Israel, this is about aiding terrorists.
Maybe Governor Brewer should just tell Obama she is one of the Beetles? Or even better yet, a Communist Union Thug!

Why would anyone be surprised that Obama has refused to meet with Arizona governor Jan Brewer? Why would Brewer even request a meeting with the demagogue:
President Obama has turned down Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s request to meet while she’s in Washington next week as tensions mount between his administration and Arizona over the state’s new law cracking down on illegal immigrants.
Brewer will be in Washington to meet with other governors. She said Friday that she had asked to meet with Obama and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano to discuss border security and immigration. But Obama’s schedule “doesn’t allow for a meeting” with her, White House spokesman Adam Abrams said, adding that the president “does intend to sit down with the governor in the future.”
If anything this is a teachable moment and another example of just how radical the Obamanation is. Recall that radical leftist/communist union thug Andy Stern at one point was the most frequent visitor to ‘Obama’s House?

So, who cares if Barack Hussein Obama doesn’t show at Arlington? No-one should. Not me. Not the soldiers serving overseas. Not the fallen soldiers we are honoring on the occasion. What will be missed, unfortunately, is a President of the United States of America. One who understands that the office of President is not about one man, not an apologist-in-chief or a narcissist who takes the “all about me” approach to life. What will be missed is a solemn appreciation as to why that precious blood was spilled in the first place. That liberty, freedom, and our rights as people are not granted by the government, but by God and that any President swears an oath to protect those rights as enumerated in the Constitution.
No, this President doesn’t understand what his role should be, if his does, he’s sure doing the absolute opposite. Almost every action he has taken has served to divide, not unify, as he promised. All of his dealings thus far have been obscure and opaque, not transparent. All of his speeches have been misdirection and double-talk, deflection and projection, never taking blame when due and taking credit where none is deserved.

Folks, what the hell is so much less delicate about the Gulf of Mexico than ANWR, where we could drill much more safely than in the Gulf? Nothing—that’s what. The ecosystems in the Gulf are far more vulnerable than those in ANWR—as are the local economies that depend on them. And the practices that would be required to produce oil in Alaska—or in shallower water off of California, for that matter—are much safer than those we used to place the Gulf at risk.
Meanwhile, the environmentalists drive the petroleum companies into deeper and deeper water, and into countries that have looser standards for oversight even than Obama’s MMS.

Dennis Hopper dead at 74
A Hollywood legend is gone RIP
Hopper died Saturday at his home in the Los Angeles beach community of Venice, surrounded by family and friends, family friend Alex Hitz said. Hopper’s manager announced in October 2009 that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
