Harris: Obama Knew Of Blagojevich Plot – Chicago Sun-Times
A top aide to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich said he believed Barack Obama knew of Blagojevich’s plot to win himself a presidential Cabinet post in exchange for appointing Valerie Jarrett to the U.S. Senate.
John Harris, Blagojevich’s former chief of staff, testified Wednesday in the former governor’s corruption trial that three days after the Nov. 4, 2008, presidential election, the ex-governor told Harris he felt confident Obama knew he wanted to swap perks.
“The president understands that the governor would be willing to make the appointment of Valerie Jarrett as long as he gets what he’s asked for… The governor gets the Cabinet appointment he’s asked for,” Harris said, explaining a recorded call.
Harris said Blagojevich came away believing Obama knew what he wanted after having a conversation with a local union representative, who in turn spoke with labor leader Tom Balanoff, with whom Blagojevich met to discuss a Jarrett appointment. Jarrett, now a White House adviser, was seeking the appointment to Obama’s Senate seat.
Defense lawyers say Harris’ testimony contradicts the government’s previous public statements that Obama knew nothing about deal-making involving the Senate seat appointment.

The defense on Wednesday moved to force the prosecution to turn over FBI reports of Obama’s interview with federal agents in December of 2008. Obama is not accused of wrongdoing.
“Testimony elicited by the government from John Harris and wiretaps played in court raise the issue of President Obama’s direct knowledge and communication with emissaries and others regarding the appointment to his Senate seat,” lawyers wrote in the filing.
The filing came on the trial’s third day of the extensive playback of recordings in which Blagojevich is heard repeatedly discussing ways to personally capitalize on his Senate seat appointment power. Blagojevich could be heard plotting to try to head up a charity; swearing and snapping at his wife, Patti, and dismissing the possibility of a federal position that pays $190,000 a year.
“I make $170… So Fred, that has no appeal to me… I want to make money,” Blagojevich tells national Democratic consultant Fred Yang. “I might as well go out and find a way to make money.”
Obama’s 2008 internal report about his staff’s contacts with Blagojevich at the time indicates that Balanoff relayed to Jarrett that Blagojevich was interested in a Health and Human Services Cabinet post.

Noted “Oriental Right Winger” exposes Obama’s lies, and radical agenda
I am referring, of course, to my Blogging Role Model, Michelle Malkin, who has received numerous racial slurs by “tolerant, sensitive, inclusive” Lefties who think Michelle has to think like a minority is supposed to think.
Michelle, of course is a great patriot and Conservative who chews up Liberal lies and spits them out! Here she is on Hannity talking about the Ken Salazar, and Team Obama doctoring the facts about the BP oil spill to support their Leftist agenda!
Al Gore sex assault scandal?
Stacy McCain has the story and video.
The masseuse told investigators about an evening massage session during which Gore allegedly became enraged at times and tried to gain sexual favors from the woman.
“I was shocked and I did not massage beyond what is considered a safe, nonsexual area of the abdomen,” she said. “He further insisted and acted angry, becoming verbally sharp and loud.”
“I went into much deeper shock as I realized it appeared he was demanding sexual favors or sexual behaviors.” The woman said Gore grabbed her hand and shoved it toward his pubic area.
She alleged he later tried to have sex with her and began caressing her before she squirmed out of his grasp.
Boy does the Left love to re-write history
All I can say is that Stalin would be proud of this stunt!
The face is instantly familiar, the two-fingered salute unmistakable.
But are these actually the same photograph of Sir Winston Churchill?
In the original photograph the war leader has his cigar gripped firmly in the corner of his mouth.
But in the other image – currently greeting visitors to a London museum – his favourite smoke has been digitally extinguished.
Here are the pics. Behold what the Left will do. If they do not like history well they can alwys change it.
Greatest tennis match EVAH!
At some point, maybe around the 40th game of the ultimate set — or was it the 50th? — this ceased to be a tennis match and began to feel more like a hazy, feverish dream. John Isner, the 6-foot-9 former Georgia Bulldog, and Nicolas Mahut, a game 28-year-old Frenchman, just stood on the baseline of a sun-splashed Court 18, red-faced and sodden, and hit bomb after bomb. Serves were rarely threatened. Time stood still. Tennis isn’t generally associated with bravery, but this truly was sterling stuff — two unflinching, deeply committed professionals giving every ounce of themselves for as long as they could.
Ultimately, some 7 hours and 6 minutes after the fifth set of their wildly ludicrous match continued from Tuesday began, there was no resolution. The match was suspended Wednesday evening for the second straight day, this time with the score 6-4, 3-6, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (3), 59-59.Yes, 59-all. The match has gone exactly 10 hours — and counting.
Wow! This has to be the greatest match ever has to be. Hats off to both these guys. Incredible athletes!
Maybe Obama should ask Chris Christie whose ass he should kick?
OK, Obama wants to kick some ass but he just is not sure whose ass it should be. Christ Christie, seems to have little problem finding deserving sasses to boot. So, perhaps Obama should listen to Chris, who would surely tell him to ask this question; Whose Ass Would Chris Christie Kick?

Determined To Destroy Gulf Coast, Feds Shut Down Sand Berm Dredging – First Things
The Obama Administration continues to act as if they want the Gulf oil spill to destroy as much of the coastline as possible.
- They have only accepted assistance from 5 of 28 countries.
- It took the Obama Administration 53 days to accept help from the Dutch and British.
- It took 58 days to mobilize the US military to the Gulf.
- They shut down crude-sucking barges due to fire extinguisher concerns.
- They ignore oil boom manufacturers that have miles of product stockpiled in their warehouses.
- They only have moved 5 of 2,000 oil skimmers to the disaster area off of Florida.
- The president continues to hit the golf course, ball games, hold BBQ’s and party while the coast drowns in oil.
And, now the feds are shutting down the sand berm dredging off of the Louisiana coast.
Click on image below to view WDSU video report.
More from WDSU:
The federal government is shutting down the dredging that was being done to create protective sand berms in the Gulf of Mexico.
The berms are meant to protect the Louisiana coastline from oil. But the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Department has concerns about where the dredging is being done.
Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser, who was one of the most vocal advocates of the dredging plan, has sent a letter to President Barack Obama, pleading for the work to continue.
Nungesser said the government has asked crews to move the dredging site two more miles farther off the coastline.
“Once again, our government resource agencies, which are intended to protect us, are now leaving us vulnerable to the destruction of our coastline and marshes by the impending oil,” Nungesser wrote to Obama.
This is not just illogical, it is criminal.

Mexico joins lawsuit against Arizona
Unfreakingbelievable! Allahpundit brings us news that simply defies description, and that likely makes millions of Americans as livid as it makes me.
Where are we nationally in the polls in terms of support for Arizona’s law? Around 60 percent or so, yes?
Send this to an immigration fencesitter you know and love and let’s see if we can’t get it up to 70.
In a legal brief supporting one of the lawsuits, Mexico argued that the measure is unconstitutional and “raises substantial challenges to the bilateral diplomatic relations between Mexico and the U.S.”
More than 20 million Mexican workers, tourists and students were lawfully allowed into the United States throughout 2009, said the brief, and the government is worried Mexicans will be discriminated against because of racial profiling.
“Mexico is gravely concerned that (Arizona’s law) will lead to … detentions of Mexican citizens without regard to whether they have taken any actions or exhibited any behavior indicating they are guilty of a crime,” the brief said.
Mexico is “gravely concerned” alright! Gravely concerned that its people will not be allowd to enter America whenever the Hellthey choose to. It is concerned that some of the billions sent back to Mexico by illegals working here will dry up. It is concerned that America will exercise it right to sovereignty! Folks, I am beyond angry over this. This is like someone breaking into your home, then suing you because you try to show them the door!
The most aggravating part of this to me. Mexico assuming the role of telling us what our constitution says! God help us!
Federal judge halts Obama’s drilling ban
Of course this will be appealed, but still, it is sweet music isn’t it? Bloomberg:
A New Orleans federal judge lifted the six-month moratorium on deepwater drilling imposed by President Barack Obama following the largest oil spill in U.S. history.
Obama temporarily halted all drilling in waters deeper than 500 feet on May 27 to give a presidential commission time to study improvements in the safety of offshore operations. Government lawyers told U.S. District Judge Martin Feldmanthat the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon rig off the Louisiana coast in April was a “game changer’’ that exposed the risks of offshore oil exploration.
“We need to make sure deepwater drilling is as safe as we thought it was the day before this incident,’’ Brian Collins, a lawyer for the government, told Feldman in a court hearing June 21. “It is crucial to take the time because to fail to do so would be to gamble with the long-term future of this region.’’
More than a dozen Louisiana offshore service and supply companies sued U.S. regulators to lift the ban. State officials claim 20,000 Louisiana jobs are in jeopardy if the deepwater drilling suspension lasts 18 months…
…Lawyers for the drilling companies told Feldman the moratorium illegally sidesteps a required industry comment period. They also said regulators failed to tell Obama that all active deepwater rigs passed an immediate re-inspection after the Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank, with only two rigs reporting minor violations and the rest getting approval to continue operations.
Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal asked Feldman on June 20 to lift the ban in 30 days after the judge imposes more stringent safety and oversight procedures. Such rules would incorporate the results of several ongoing drilling safety studies, including that of the presidential commission, Jindal and Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell wrote in court papers.
Michelle has more at her blog
Judge Feldman hones in on blatant lies incorporated into Deepwater report by Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. His head should roll:
In the Executive Summary to the Report, the Secretary [Salazar] recommends “a six-month moratorium on permits for new wells being drilled using floating rigs.” He also recommends “an immediate halt to drilling operations on the 33 permitted wells, not including relief wells currently being drilled by BP, that are currently being drilled using floating rigs in the Gulf of Mexico.”
Much to the government’s discomfort and this Court’s uneasiness, the Summary also states that “the recommendations contained in this report have been peer-reviewed by seven experts identified by the National Academy of Engineering.” As the plaintiffs, and the experts themselves, pointedly observe, this statement was misleading. The experts charge it was a “misrepresentation.” It was factually incorrect. Although the experts agreed with the safety recommendations contained in the body of the main Report, five of the National Academy experts and three of the other experts have publicly stated that they “do not agree with the six month blanket moratorium” on floating drilling.
What? Team Obama has Truth Deficit Disorder? you mean they would LIE, to take greater advantage of a crisis? NO! Shocking!

Her crotch shot woes continue, this time though it was not pervert Perez Hilton but Rueters to blame
Reuters offers the Mother Of All Excuses:
A Reuters representative speaking on background admitted that the photo had caused concern in the photo department because of Miley’s age, but that was weighed against the fact that it occurred on stage in front of hundreds of people and other cameras, as well as the fact that the teen sensation is transitioning away from “Hannah Montana” and into a more grown-up performer.

At Least 42 Dead, 115,000 Homeless In Brazil Flooding – CNN
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva met Tuesday with his emergency Cabinet as flooding in two northeastern states killed at least 42 people and left more than 115,000 homeless or displaced, the Agencia Brasil state news agency and civil defense officials reported.
In Pernambuco state, 53 cities have declared a state of emergency, the nation’s civil defense agency said. Thirteen people are dead and more than 42,000 are homeless there, the agency said.
In Alagoas state, 22 cities have declared an emergency. At least 29 people are dead, officials said. More than 73,000 residents are homeless or displaced, the national civil defense said.
More than 600 people have been reported missing in Alagoas.
Defense Minister Nelson Jobim traveled to Alagoas and Pernambuco to see the emergency measures that have been taken, Agencia Brasil said. Those measures include the construction of field hospitals.
Aid workers will provide shelters, food water and power, while health officials will offer medicine and treatment at hospitals.
Pernambuco Governor Eduardo Campos – who flew over the affected areas Monday – described the situation as “heart-breaking.”
“What we have seen since Friday is more than a horror film,” Campos said in a statement.
Alagoas Governor Teotonio Vilela Filho traveled through several affected areas Monday to try to reassure residents.
“I ask you all to remain calm because we are all invested in helping you,” he said.
Both governors also met with Lula, who promised to facilitate emergency funds to help victims.
Alagoas weather officials forecast more rain for Tuesday.
Brazil’s Center for Climatic Studies predicted rain above average in the northeast for autumn, which has come to an end. Brazil’s winter officially began June 21.

According to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the U.S. shed 2.3 million jobs since February 2009, Obama’s first full month in office. Going back to World War II, that is by far the worst record for any president in his first 17 months.
For Obama, there is an even worse way to play the data. From November 2008 until now, the economy has shed an astonishing 4.4 million jobs.
