Why did Team Obama refuse Dutch offer to help clean up oil spill?
Jill has some pretty damning stuff and be sure to read it all.
I can’t wait to hear Gibbs explain this. Perhaps the Dutch should have gone through Jake Tapper instead of the Obama administration and BP.
Three days after the explosion of the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico, the Dutch government offered to help.
It was willing to provide ships outfitted with oil-skimming booms, and it proposed a plan for building sand barriers to protect sensitive marshlands.
The response from the Obama administration and BP, which are coordinating the cleanup: “The embassy got a nice letter from the administration that said, ‘Thanks, but no thanks,’” said Geert Visser, consul general for the Netherlands in Houston.
Now, almost seven weeks later, as the oil spewing from the battered well spreads across the Gulf and soils pristine beaches and coastline, BP and our government have reconsidered.
U.S. ships are being outfitted this week with four pairs of the skimming booms airlifted from the Netherlands and should be deployed within days. Each pair can process 5 million gallons of water a day, removing 20,000 tons of oil and sludge.
Well, I am glad Obama’s lack of experience at anything but community organizing has not hurt anything yet. Aren’t y’all?
You want hateful stereotypes?
If you do,then follow Stacy McCain’s advice, and look Leftward!
Obama Oddly Unpopular
in Former Slave States
– Josh Marshall, Talking Points MemoYeah, thanks Josh. I live in Maryland, a ”former slave state” where Obama got 62% of the vote. But never mind that. What does affluent Ivy League a–hole Josh Marshall have to say about Alvin Greene winning the Democrat primary in the “former slave state” of South Carolina?
C’mon, Josh, tell me: Is it OK for white Democrat Vic Rawl to assert that the election of a black Army veteran in a “former slave state” is somehow illegitimate?
Read all of McCain’s spanking of yet another Liberal suffering from Racial Obsession Syndrome, and a fever that only bashing the South will cure.

Democrat Congressman Caught On Video Assaulting Student – WTKR
A video posted on YouTube by a conservative blogger shows North Carolina Congressman Bob Etheridge assaulting a student who asked him if he supports the “Obama agenda” while walking down a Washington street.
Etheridge, a Democrat from the 2nd District, is seen grabbing the camera from one of at least two men filming the encounter, then grabbing his wrist and demanding to know who they are.
The story, posted on Breitbart.com by Mike Flynn identifies the men as students. In the video, the men never identify themselves by name, but say they’re students working on a project. Their faces are blurred in the video.
Etheridge eventually grabs one around the neck and then the shoulders and refuses to let him go. The man eventually gets away and the video ends.
The video was picked up by the Drudge Report with the title “SHOCK VIDEO: Congressman Assaults Student on Washington Sidewalk…”
According to WTVD, National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Jon Thompson e-mailed the station the following comment:
“Bob Etheridge has lost it. His conduct is unbecoming of a member of Congress. It’s bad enough that he’s joined Obama’s assault on North Carolina jobs, but his physical assault on a college student goes beyond the pale.”
Etheridge issued the following statement Monday:
“I have seen the video posted on several blogs. I deeply and profoundly regret my reaction and I apologize to all involved. Throughout my many years of service to the people of North Carolina, I have always tried to treat people from all viewpoints with respect. No matter how intrusive and partisan our politics can become, this does not justify a poor response. I have and I will always work to promote a civil public discourse.”

The best thoughts on illegal immigration you will ever read
From Stormbringer!
Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like why today’s American is not willing to accept these new kind of immigrants any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented.
Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home.
This is great, go read it all.
Thank you Mike Pence
I am liking this Congressman more and more. He gets it! He sees the need for America to stand behind Israel. I wish our President did. Video via Theo Spark

At Least 16 Dead, Dozens Missing In Arkansas Floods – Fox News
Floodwaters that rose as swiftly as 8 feet an hour tore through a campground packed with vacationing families early Friday, carrying away tents and overturning RVs as campers slept. At least 16 people were killed, and dozens more missing and feared dead.
Heavy rains caused the normally quiet Caddo and Little Missouri rivers to climb out of their banks during the night. Around dawn, floodwaters barreled into the Albert Pike Recreation Area, a 54-unit campground in the Ouachita National Forest that was packed with vacationing families.
The raging torrent poured through the valley with such force that it peeled asphalt off roads and bark off trees. Cabins dotting the river banks were severely damaged. Mobile homes lay on their sides.
Two dozen people were hospitalized. Authorities rescued 60 others.
Marc and Stacy McNeil of Marshall, Texas, survived by pulling their pickup truck between two trees and standing in the bed in waist-deep water.
“It was just like a boat tied to a tree,” Marc McNeil said, describing how the truck bobbed up and down.
They were on their first night of camping with a group of seven, staying in tents. The rain kept falling, and the water kept rising throughout the night, at one point topping the tool box in the back of the truck.
“We huddled together, and prayed like we’d never prayed before.” Stacy McNeil said. They were able to walk to safety once the rain stopped.
After the water receded, anguished relatives pleaded with emergency workers for help finding more than 40 missing loved ones.
At one point, Gov. Mike Beebe said the death had climbed to 20. But Beebe’s office later revised that figure to 16, saying he had relied on an erroneous figure after talking to an emergency worker at the scene.
Still, authorities agreed that the death toll could easily rise. Forecasters warned of the approaching danger during the night, but campers could easily have missed those advisories because the area is isolated.
“There’s not a lot of way to get warning to a place where there’s virtually no communication,” Beebe said. “Right now we’re just trying to find anybody that is still capable of being rescued.”
