If I could give one bit of advice to Black Americans it would be to listen to Dr. Sowell, Walter Williams, and Herman Caine, rather than the usual suspects like the NAACP, that have done nothing for Black Americans.

Democrat Charles Rangel Finally Charged With Ethics Violations – CSM
Members of a House panel on Thursday charged Rep. Charles Rangel (D) of New York with violating a list of House ethics rules.
The subject of an 18-month investigation, Representative Rangel – a 40-year member of Congress and the House’s fourth most-senior member – now faces a House trial in which eight members (four Democrats and four Republicans) will rule on the findings.
The four-member panel of the House ethics committee did not lay out the alleged violations in detail. But they are reported to include at least some of the most serious.
The allegations range from misuse of rent-controlled apartments in New York City and failure to disclose income from a villa in the Dominican Republic to reports that he exchanged official favors – a tax loophole for oil driller Nabors Industries Ltd. – in exchange for a $1 million gift to the Charles Rangel Center at City College of New York.
Last year, Republicans failed to force Rangel to step down as chairman of the influential tax-writing Ways and Means Committee. But when the House ethics panel reported that Rangel had violated House gift rules by accepting corporate funding for trips to the Caribbean, he relinquished his committee chairmanship in March.
At the time, Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics (CREW), an ethics watchdog in Washington, told the Monitor that “trips to the Caribbean are the least of his problems.”
“As we get deeper into election season, support is eroding for Rangel, because members know that ethics matters with voters,” she said.
With the latest turn in Rangel’s fight to avoid further political damage, Ms. Sloan’s organization called for the congressman’s resignation from the House.
“Today’s action demonstrates that the notoriously lax Ethics Committee has found substantial reason to believe that Representative Rangel has violated federal law, House rules, or both,” Sloan said in a statement. “Now the question is whether Representative Rangel will resign or endure a public trial that promises to be filled with detailed and undoubtedly embarrassing revelations of wrongdoing. Representative Rangel has toughed it out as long as he could, the time clearly has come for him to resign. He can no longer effectively represent the citizens of New York.”
In his Harlem district, where he remains popular, calls for Rangel’s resignation from the House may not carry much political weight.

North Korea has promised a “physical response” to joint US-South Korean military exercises this weekend. The comments came as Asian foreign ministers met in Vietnam for a regional security forum.

Think Progress, which is leading the charge on Sherrod, linked the Sparkman killing to Michele Bachmann’s concerns that the Census was too intrusive, and numerous left-wing bloggers did the same.
There never was a shred of evidence to support the allegations, and it turned out that Sparkman committed suicide.
And while we’re at it, how about some apologies for all the false allegations by Frank Rich, Paul Krugman, Charles Blow and numerous left-wing bloggers claiming that health care protesters were violent, and falsely linking the Tea Parties to the Amy Bishop shooting, the IRS Plane Crasher, the Fort Hood attack, and the Pentagon shooter.
And while we’re at it, all the left-wing bloggers who called health care protesters thugs and a mob and astroturf and terrorists and Birthers and harassers and manufactured and frightening and vicious and “Karl Rove’s wet dream.”

Decisions on which car dealerships to close as part of the auto industry bailout — closures the Obama administration forced on General Motors and Chrysler — were based in part on race and gender, according to a report by Troubled Asset Relief Program Special Inspector General Neal M. Barofsky.
[D]ealerships were retained because they were recently appointed, were key wholesale parts dealers, or were minority- or woman-owned dealerships. [Emphasis added.]
Thus, to meet numbers forced on them by the Obama administration, General Motors and Chrysler were forced to shutter other, potentially more viable, dealerships. The livelihood of potentially tens of thousands of families was thus eliminated simply because their dealerships were not minority- or woman-owned.
Hope and Change indeed! I hope American voters have learned that electing an empty suit, with absolutely no economic copmmon sense has been disastrous for our economy. But when that empty suit is also suffering from Racial Obsession Syndrome, and insists on pursuing “social justice” it only adds to the damage done. And it earns President Obama my Marxist Moron of the Day Award!

The Washington Post reports:Conceding they can’t find enough votes for the measure, Senate Democrats will announce Thursday they are abandoning for now efforts to put together a comprehensive energy bill that would seek to limit greenhouse gas emissions, ending the immediate prospect for a key legislative priority of President Obama and congressional Democrats.Instead, Democrats, according to sources, will push for a more limited bill that would seek to increase liability costs that oil companies would pay following spills such as the one in the Gulf of Mexico and would create additional incentives for the purchase of both natural gas vehicles and products that can be used to reduce energy use in homes. And they have not ruled out pushing for a more comprehensive bill during the session Congress will have after the November election.Efforts to put together a major bill to limit carbon emissions and encourage the use of alternative energy sources had long been considered doomed in the Senate, even though the House has approved a bill that would set a limit on overall emissions of greenhouse gases while allowing utilities and other emitters to trade pollution permits.Senate Democrats had remained deeply divided on the issue… and there was virtually no GOP support on the issue… The decision by Democrats mean that two major issues they had pledged to take on this year, energy reform and immigration, could remain unresolved before the midterm elections…
So, they are not going to get exactly what they want, BUT, they will still try to pass the most economy crippling bill they can.

If Chris is shaking in his boots, then we all ought to consider how dangerous Elizabeth Warren really is.
My favorite feminist is at it again, espousing her “women should rule the world” line of claptrap. In particular she says only a woman is qualified to head up Barry’s new Consumer Financial Protection Agency. And of course she has a particular woman in mind — Harvard Law School Professor Elizabeth Warren.
Warren is clearly the frontrunner for the job. But according to PunditMom, Obama is “afraid” to appoint her because Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and his Wall Street buddies do not approve.
To be sure Elizabeth Warren is a lefty, progressive wet dream of a regulator.
Warren, a Harvard Law school expert on bankruptcy law, has been the head of the TARP oversight panel and a financial superhero for her ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound while at the same time explaining credit default swaps and the economic meltdown in plain English!

Black Candidate’s Racist Election Slogan Rejected By Officials – Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
State elections officials Wednesday narrowly rejected a Milwaukee Assembly candidate’s attempt to run with the slogan “NOT the ‘whiteman’s bitch’” under her name on the ballot.
Ieshuh Griffin, an independent candidate with a history of feuds with local officials, said in response she would sue the state Government Accountability Board for infringing on her freedom of speech.
She is running to replace retiring Rep. Annette “Polly” Williams (D-Milwaukee).
“I’m not making a derogatory statement toward an ethnic group. I’m stating what I’m not,” Griffin told board members. “It’s my constitutional right to freedom of speech.”
Unlike candidates from the established Democratic and Republican parties, independents are allowed a five-word statement of purpose on the ballot to explain to voters what their candidacy is about.
Shane Falk, a staff attorney for the Accountability Board, said that the board had the ability to restrict obscene or derogatory candidate statements from the ballot.
The board staff ruled that the statement was derogatory and should not be allowed. With one member absent, the board voted 3-2 in favor of reversing that ruling and allowing the wording. Under state law, however, four votes are needed for the board to act.
As a result, the staff decision stands, and Griffin will be on the ballot with “independent” by her name and nothing else. Falk noted that Griffin was still free to use the phrase in her campaign literature and any ads she might run.
The board, which administers state election laws, consists of six former judges. All of them are white.
This is not the first time that Griffin has been critical of a government action.
She said the same thing in May 2007 of a decision by a Milwaukee County circuit judge who found her sister, April Griffin, in contempt of court and jailed her for refusing to tell authorities where to find her son in a custody dispute case that received national attention.
April Griffin spent eight months in jail. After her release police acted on a tip and found her with the child and arrested her for interference of custody, recklessly endangering safety and resisting arrest. She was convicted in that case and is appealing.

Home Sales Fall; Jobless Claims Rise – Washington Times
Sales of previously occupied homes fell 5.1 percent in June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.37 million, the National Association of Realtors said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, new claims for unemployment insurance jumped by 37,000 to 464,000, the Labor Department said. Seasonal factors boosted new requests for benefits. Still, first-time claims remain elevated.

A Utah man is accused of violating a protective order because he sent letters to his estranged wife’s cat. 32-year-old Ronald Dallas was ordered not to contact his wife, who is the alleged victim in a domestic violence case against him.
Prosecutors allege Dallas mailed 11 letters from jail that were addressed to her cat Molly Judge and a neighbor, but were intended for his wife.

The latest to join in on the cacophony of complaints is the executive vice president of the National Organization for Women (NOW), Bonnie Grabenhofer. The problem? All these gosh-darned conservative women, led by that dastardly Sarah Palin, just don’t realize that they’re victims and slaves to their reproductive rights. How dare a woman think she paved the road to her own success and be pro-life??
Grabenhofer starts with the trite and beaten-to-death meme that Sarah Palin is not a feminist.NOW executive vice-president, Bonnie Grabenhofer, told The Daily Caller that to her, “feminism is a social justice movement aimed at getting social, political, and economic equality for women. We work for the advancement of women on multiple fronts.”
… According to Grabenhofer, Palin doesn’t qualify as a feminist.
“I do not consider Sarah Palin to be a feminist,” she said. “She has benefitted from the work of feminists but she has not worked to advance the rights of women. She works against the progressive ideas meant to help.”
What, exactly, disqualifies Sarah Palin from being considered a feminist? She’s a self-made women with an impressive career. For those unfamiliar with Palin’s career pre-politics, she first worked as a sports reporter; after marrying her husband, Todd Palin, she worked with him in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska. She got into politics pretty much at the lowest possible level: at the PTA. She then ran for a seat on the Wasilla city council, eventually moving on to become the mayor, and then governor of Alaska. The rest is history. She was forced to step down as governor, but her career has been far from over. She’s now a bestselling author with an upcoming second book to be released later this year, a Fox News contributor, and a public speaker. She’s the clear breadwinner of her family, but by all accounts seems to have a happy, healthy marriage with her hunk of a husband, Todd. They have five beautiful children together. One would think this would be the perfect definition of a feminist is. But, of course, there’s a litmus test that you have to pass in order to join the Fascist Feminist Club, and Sarah Palin failed. It doesn’t matter how self-sufficient she is, or how equal a partnership she has with her husband, or how hard she worked to forge herself a spot in the boys’ club of politics. Because she’s pro-life, she can’t be considered a feminist.
Grabenhofer continued, saying that in order to be a feminist, a woman must support abortion rights.
Ah yes, Sarah Palin, and every other woman must check he ideals nand beliefs against the list of approved Feminut ideals. In other words to be “empowered” women must think exactly how the Leftist Feminuts dicate they think! Feminists want women to be empowered, as long as the Feminists approve their beliefs first!
Mel Gibson’s grlfriend investigated for extortion?

The Hollywood Reporter has learned that after the disturbing Mel Gibson audio tapes became public earlier this month, Oksana Grigorieva wrote Gibson a text explaining why she’d surreptitiously recorded their conversations. According to a source familiar with the case, Grigorieva writes in the text that the reason she recorded him was because “you broke your agreement with me.”
The source says that there are additional emails that will likely be used by Gibson’s attorneys to prove that Grigorieva attempted to use the audio tapes to extort money from Gibson. The source adds that Grigorieva was also upset about the breakup and was looking to reconcile.

China Flooding Kills 701, Worst Toll In A Decade – Washington Post
More than 1,000 people have died or disappeared in severe flooding in China so far this year, and the heaviest rains are still to come, a senior official warned Wednesday.
This year’s floods, which have caused tens of billions of dollars in damage already, have exacted the highest death toll since 1998, when the highest water levels in five decades claimed 4,150 lives.
With the typhoon season rolling in, Liu Ning, general secretary of the government’s flood prevention agency, told a news conference authorities must ramp up preparations.
“Since 60 to 80 percent of the annual rain level occurs in June, July and August, we should be prepared to prevent and combat potential disasters,” Liu said.
Tropical storm Chanthu is expected to hit China’s southern island of Hainan and Guangdong province this weekend. Six to eight typhoons are expected this year.
Already, three-quarters of China’s provinces have been plagued by flooding and 25 rivers have seen record-high water levels, Liu said.
State broadcaster China Central Television showed footage of soldiers and rescue workers searching through rubble and mud for survivors of a landslide in Ankang city in the northern province of Shaanxi, where 14 people have died and 35 remained missing as of Wednesday.
Footage from Shaanxi and the southwestern province of Sichuan showed flooded shops and homes, with buses and cars driving down water-filled streets. Some residents waded through knee-deep water to stock up at the local supermarket.
Flooding, particularly along the Yangtze River basin, has overwhelmed reservoirs, swamped towns and cities, and caused landslides that have smothered communities, including toppling 645,000 houses. The Three Gorges Dam faced its highest levels ever this week and water breached the massive dam.
“Although water levels in the upper stretches of the Yangtze River have surpassed that of 1998, the flood situation is still not as severe because the Three Gorges Dam has played a key role in preventing floods along the river this year,” Liu said.

Payrolls Fall In 27 U.S. States, Led By California – Bloomberg
Payrolls decreased in 27 U.S. states in June, led by California and New York. Employers in California cut staff by 27,600 workers last month and those in New York reduced employment by 22,500.
The U.S. lost 125,000 jobs last month as the government cut temporary workers conducting the 2010 census and private payrolls rose a less-than-forecast 83,000, according to Labor Department figures.

A new poll by Quinnipiac University shows that more voters would choose an unnamed Republican in 2012 over President Obama. The poll showed a 48-43 percent approval rate for Obama.
The poll was taken May 26 nationwide. A good portion of voters also said Obama does not deserve re-election in 2012. The poll revealed a great deal of anti-incumbent sentiment across the country.

At Least 49 Killed In North Yemen Clashes – NewsMeat
Fighting in mountainous north Yemen between Shiite rebels and army-backed tribes over the past four days have left at least 49 people dead and threatening a fragile truce, tribal and rebel sources said.
The major confrontations were taking place in al-Amsheyah, in the northern Amran province, where the tribe of MP Sheikh Sagheer Aziz is allegedly besieged by the Huthi rebels.
