China’s Premier Threatens Japan Over Boat Dispute – NPR
China’s premier has threatened Japan in an escalating row over disputed islands in the East China Sea. This dispute has already caused high-level government contacts to be frozen, and has dragged pop stars and pandas into the wake.
Speaking Tuesday night in New York, Premier Wen Jinbao said, “If Japan acts willfully despite advice to the contrary, China will take further actions and Japan must accept full responsibility for all the severe consequences.”
The bitter diplomatic confrontation started with a maritime collision involving a nondescript blue Chinese fishing boat. In waters near the disputed islands earlier this month, it collided with two Japanese coast guard vessels. The captain remains in Japanese custody.
This small bust-up has spiraled into this high-level standoff, centering on claims to the uninhabited but resource-rich islands. Even their name is a matter of dispute; they’re called Senkaku by Japan and Diaoyu by China.
Twice in the past three weeks, small protests have taken place in front of Japan s embassy in Beijing. It’s significant these demonstrations are being allowed at all in the Chinese capital.
The Chinese protesters sing the national anthem, a reminder that rising nationalism born from China’s century of humiliation underlies their anger.
“I want our government to be stronger,” said a protester who gave his name as A Min.
He was trembling with anger as he spoke. “They shouldn’t let the Japanese bully us on our own soil. The Diaoyu islands have always been ours. Young Chinese people shouldn’t forget the humiliations of history, and shouldn’t allow history to repeat itself.”
Protests were held last weekend on the 79th anniversary of an incident that led to Japan’s brutal occupation of northeast China.
China has suspended ministerial contacts, and China-Japan talks on aviation issues have been called off.
Non-official contacts are also suffering, with China refusing to allow 1,000 Japanese students to visit the Shanghai Expo on a bilateral exchange and calling off a Japanese pop concert in Shanghai.
Beijing also sent a team of investigators to Japan to examine the death of a Chinese panda there.

Russ Feingold Down Big In Wisconsin Senate Race – Atlantic Wire
A new survey of Wisconsin voters from left-leaning Public Policy Polling has the three-term liberal firebrand trailing Republican challenger Ron Johnson, 52 percent to 41 precent.
This comes on the heels of last week’s Rasmussen poll in which Feingold trailed Johnson by seven points. What’s to blame for Feingold’s surprising swoon, and how would a loss change the composition of the Senate?

Initial Unemployment Claims Rise To 465K – NewsMeat
The tally of newly laid-off workers requesting unemployment benefits rose last week for the first time in five weeks.
Initial claims for jobless aid rose by 12,000 to a seasonally adjusted 465,000. Many economists had expected a flat reading or small drop. The rise suggests that jobs remain scarce and some companies are still cutting workers amid weak economic growth.

Axelrod Leaving White House; Emmanuel Likely Next – CBS News
President Obama’s inner circle will likely be losing some key players. Bill Plante reports that sources say David Axelrod, the president’s closest advisor, will move to Chicago next spring.
Axelrod is expected to reassume his role as campaign manager in Mr. Obama’s 2012 reelection bid. A potential, if not likely, replacement for Axelrod is current White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.
Is The Bloom Gone?
He still can’t help but lie and blame Republicans though. Why let a perfectly good strawman go to waste?
Say, Have You Heard About This Douchebag Yet?
His name is David Green, and he’s a self-loathing, Jewish assclown who thinks that Israel is responsible for most of the problems in its tiny little corner of the Middle East, and that the words ‘Nazi Holocaust’ have been hijacked by international Zionist conspirators who’ve brainwashed the world into thinking that Hitler targeted Jews above everyone else during his infamous extermination campaign of the 1930s and ’40s.
Apparently, Green believes that, because Hitler’s minions slaughtered a lot of gentiles back in the day, the Jews were not the primary focus of the Nazi blood purges, even though holding such an opinion is tantamount to believing that Jesus Christ was really a Muslim.
And this from a guy who refers to himself as a “University Academic Professional”, which gives you yet another clue as to why the average college student in the U.S. doesn’t understand the difference between capitalism and socialism, and why the vast majority of them, and the academic professionals who hold sway over their underdeveloped psyches, voted for Barack Obama in 2008, instead of – say – ANYONE ELSE!
But I digress.
Hitler’s “final solution” was concerned exclusively with the eradication of the Jewish people from the face of the Earth, PERIOD! It had nothing whatsoever to do with any other race, religion, sect or nationality, despite the fact that the National Socialists killed hundreds of thousands of non-Jewish civilians, both before and during WWII.
The Holocaust was an atrocity of unparalleled dimensions, which took place in the middle of a century that saw more unspeakable crimes against humanity committed worldwide (primarily by communists) than any other in documented history, and no other group of civilians suffered 1/30th the casualties that the Jews did at the hands of that putrid, Darwinist-inspired conspiracy.
How do I know all this? Well, it ain’t because I’m some pointy-headed “academic professional” who hates himself and his heritage so much that he’d rather reinforce the lies of his mortal enemies than come to terms with his own feelings of inadequacy and cowardice. No, you see, I’m a normal, 40-something, American man of non-Jewish extraction who just happens to have read more books on the subjects of World War II, Nazism, Hitler, the Holocaust, and the history of the 20th century in general than most university professors have, and I’ve actually understood what I’ve read.
But Ed – you may be asking with your head cocked slightly to one side – why are you wasting your time refuting the insane claims of some guy I’ve never even heard of before?
Here’s why:

BLOCK-I CHANT PORTRAYS ‘NEITHER PATRIOTISM NOR REMEMBRANCE’
By David Green, University Academic Professional
The vast majority of 9/11 observances in this country cannot be seen as politically neutral events. Implicit in their nature are the notions that lives lost at the World Trade Center are more valuable than lives lost in Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine and elsewhere; that the motives of the 9/11 attackers had nothing to do with genuine grievances in the Islamic world regarding American imperialism; and that the U.S. has been justified in the subsequent killing of hundreds of thousands in so-called retaliation.
The observance at Saturday’s football game was no different. A moment of silence was followed by a military airplane flyover; in between, Block-I students chanted “USA, USA.” This was neither patriotism nor remembrance in any justifiable sense, but politicization, militarism, propaganda and bellicosity. The University is a public institution that encompasses the political views of all, not just the most (falsely) “patriotic.” Athletic planners should cease such exploitation for political purposes. They might at least consider how most Muslim students, American or otherwise, would respond to this nativist display; or better, Muslims and others that live their lives under the threat of our planes, drones and soldiers.
The overwhelmingly white, privileged, Block-I students should be ashamed of their obnoxious, fake-macho, chicken-hawk chant, while poverty-drafted members of their cohort fight and die in illegal and immoral wars for the control of oil. University administrators need to eliminate from all events such “patriotic” observances, which in this country cannot be separated from implicit justifications for state-sponsored killing.
So, does that answer your question? I hope so.
Suffice it to say that David Green has no business being a “University Academic Professional”, nor should he ever again be allowed within 1,000 yards of a college campus, a high school campus, a grade school campus, a kindergarten campus, a daycare center, or even a pregnant woman.
Tell me I’m wrong.

Daily Benefactor News – 8 Dems Arrested In Bell, CA ‘Corruption On Steroids’; Not A Single Mention Of Party Affiliation From Media – More Articles

——– CLICK HERE TO VISIT THE DAILY BENEFACTOR——–
————————————— TOP STORY —————————————
Today, eight city council members were arrested in Bell, California for what Los Angeles County District Attorney labeled “corruption on steroids.” Thus far, every major news outlet that has reported on the story has omitted the fact that all eight individuals arrested are Democrats.
These glaring omissions come only weeks after NewsBusters reported that of the 351 stories on the then-brewing controversy, 350 had omitted party affiliations, and one had mentioned they were Democrats only in apologizing for not doing so sooner.
ABC, CBS, the Los Angeles Times, the Associated Press, Bloomberg, USA Today, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, and the San Francisco Chronicle all reported on the arrests today without mentioning party affiliations.
One commenter at CNN’s online story got it spot on: “I notice there is no mention of the party affiliation of the accused. I can find no mention of it in any story on the internet. This must mean they were all Democrats.”
Give the man a cigar.
Together, the eight city officials “misappropriated” $5.5 million in municipal funds. Robert Rizzo, the chief culprit, was arrested on 53 counts of various brands of corruption.
Before the scandal came to light, Rizzo had been making roughly $1.5 million per year, even though the per capita income in Bell is roughly half the national average.
Pedro Carillo, Bell’s interim city manager, released a statement on the arrests today:
Given the sheer volume of charges levied against former Bell Chief Administrative Officer Robert Rizzo and former Assistant CAO Angela Spaccia by the district attorney, it is clear that Rizzo and Spaccia were at the root of the cancer that has afflicted the City of Bell. Also, it is a sad day for Bell that four current and two former members of the council also have been arrested. I am prepared to double down our efforts to continue to restore order, establish good government reforms, and to ensure that Bell is providing needed services to its residents.
Despite arrests in one of the most massive cases of municipal corruption in recent memory, no media outlet could bring itself to mention the officials’ party affiliations, a fact that has been widely reported since the scandal entered the national spotlight.

The Yardstick And The Tea Parties
Yeah, it’s old and Ace had it first but it’s still serves as a good illustration on what the Tea Party is upset about.
As much as I want to get snarky with this (John McClane called to say, “Welcome to the party, pal!”), I shouldn’t.
First, she’s completely right about the yardstick theory. The first time I read it, Eric Cantor popped into my head holding the yardstick at the 28 inch mark saying, “You need to thank me for this.”
Second, the former speechwriter for Ronald Reagan went googly eyed over Barack Obama in 08. Now, she might be coming around. It’s important to remind her when she’s right about something. Who knows, she might be right more often.
I see two central reasons for the tea party’s rise. The first is the yardstick, and the second is the clock. First, the yardstick. Imagine that over at the 36-inch end you’ve got pure liberal thinking—more and larger government programs, a bigger government that costs more in the many ways that cost can be calculated. Over at the other end you’ve got conservative thinking—a government that is growing smaller and less demanding and is less expensive. You assume that when the two major parties are negotiating bills in Washington, they sort of lay down the yardstick and begin negotiations at the 18-inch line. Each party pulls in the direction it wants, and the dominant party moves the government a few inches in their direction.
But if you look at the past half century or so you have to think: How come even when Republicans are in charge, even when they’re dominant, government has always gotten larger and more expensive? It’s always grown! It’s as if something inexorable in our political reality—with those who think in liberal terms dominating the establishment, the media, the academy—has always tilted the starting point in negotiations away from 18 inches, and always toward liberalism, toward the 36-inch point.
Democrats on the Hill or in the White House try to pull it up to 30, Republicans try to pull it back to 25. A deal is struck at 28. Washington Republicans call it victory: “Hey, it coulda been 29!” But regular conservative-minded or Republican voters see yet another loss. They could live with 18. They’d like eight. Instead it’s 28.

Tea Parties Gain Ground Abroad – CNS
When Britain’s Conservative Party holds its annual conference next month, some of the policies of the coalition government it leads will come under fire from a nascent British “tea party” movement that is drawing inspiration from its U.S. namesake.
Similar conservative grassroots movements agitating for lower taxes and limited government have emerged in the Netherlands, Italy and Australia, where European conservatives are embracing the slogan “Taxed Enough Already.”
The Freedom Association (TFA), a free-market pressure group, launched Britain’s tea party movement at an event in the southern coastal city of Brighton last February, addressed by Daniel Hannan, an outspoken Conservative lawmaker in the European Parliament and TFA council member.
Since then “tea parties” have been held in other British centers – including the east coast port town of Boston in Lincolnshire, from where Puritans in the 17th century set sail for America and founded Boston, Mass., home of the original tea party protest 140 years later.
“We have seen in America that grassroots campaigns for limited government can make a real difference, and we shouldn’t merely stand by as the government continues to grow, financed by debt, inflation and higher taxes,” Ben Lodge of TFA wrote on Sunday.

The British movement was launched under a Labor government, but since elections in May, it finds itself confronted by a different, and unusual, political reality – a coalition government of Prime Minister David Cameron’s Conservatives and Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg’s Liberal Democrats.
On the sidelines of the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham early next month TFA, The Taxpayers’ Alliance and other conservative groups will hold a two-day “Freedom Zone” event.
Speakers ranging from Conservative lawmakers in the House of Commons and European Parliament to activists and journalists will examine how the governing coalition is handling issues important to small-c conservatives and libertarians, including taxation, civil liberties, electoral reform and Britain’s relationship with the European Union.
A conference in London this month hosted by The Taxpayers’ Alliance brought together representatives from some leading free market think tanks from both sides of the Atlantic, including some with close links to tea party groups in the U.S., such as Freedom Works and Americans for Prosperity.
TFA director Simon Richards told the Daily Telegraph that the British Tea Party movement was also collaborating with activists in Italy and Australia.
A loose Italian tea party movement was born in May in Prato, near Florence, under the slogan “lower taxes, more freedom.” It is spreading, with tea parties planned in Turin this weekend, and in Sicily and Milan early next month.

Florida Downs Tennessee – Florida Today
Florida had a pair of huge interceptions and a fake punt to bail out a struggling offense and beat Tennessee for the sixth straight season, 31-17, Saturday before 102,455 at Neyland Stadium.
Florida (3-0) went up 10-3 on a 44-yard field goal by Caleb Sturgis to open the second half — finishing off a 10-play, 53-yard drive. Tennessee (1-2) quickly tied it, however, with a 49-yard pass from Matt Simms to Denarius Moore with 8:59 left in the third quarter.
But on fourth-and-6, Omarius Hines took the snap on a fake punt and raced straight up the middle 36 yards to the Tennessee 25. It was the first time UF had faked a punt since the Arkansas game in October of 2008.
A 14-yard pass from John Brantley (14 of 23 for 167 yards) to Carl Moore on third-and-8 moved the ball to the 9. On third-and-goal, Brantley hit Frankie Hammond Jr. for the score with 4:31 left in the third quarter.

UF cornerback Jeremy Brown then intercepted Simms’ pass and returned it to the Vols’ 29 with 2:39 left. Hines’ 13-yard reception got it to the 9, which eventually led to a 5-yard score by Mike Gillislee to make it 24-10.
Simms made things interesting with a 35-yard TD throw to Justin Hunter on fourth down to cut the margin to seven points with 11:24 left in the game. The score came after an officials’ review that overturned a fumble near midfield by Jeff Demps (who finished with 26 rushes for 73 yards) to give the Vols the ball.
But the Gators’ offense responded with one of its most impressive drives all season, going 60 yards in nine plays and eating up over five minutes of the remaining time. Deonte Thompson and Moore had clutch receptions of 24 and 12 yards.
Demps picked up 16 yards to the UT 8, gained two more yards on first-and-goal and Trey Burton scored on a 2-yard run from the shot gun to push the lead back out to 31-17 with 6:15 remaining in the contest.
Matt Elam recovered a Tennessee fumble on the Vols’ next drive to sent fans pouring out of the Neyland.

At The U.N. Obama Promotes Human Wrongs Against Israel Instead Of Human Rights – Fox News
Wednesday in Geneva during the current session of the U.N. Human Rights Council, the Obama administration became a willing participant in the U.N.’s imposition of an apartheid-style ban on representatives of the state of Israel.
Despite the promises made by the administration that by joining the Council the United States would not become part of the problem, U.S. Ambassador to the Council Eileen Donahoe chose to attend and fully participate in a meeting that deliberately excluded anyone representing the Jewish state.
Israel is the only U.N. state not permitted to be a full member of any of the U.N.’s five regional groups. Throughout the Human Rights Council sessions, these groups hold key planning meetings in which countries negotiate and share important information behind closed doors. Even the Palestinian Authority, though not a state, is permitted into the Asian regional group.
Israelis are allowed into the Western European and Others Group (WEOG) in some parts of the U.N. But WEOG members have chosen to exclude them totally in all of their meetings associated with the Human Rights Council. Rather than refusing to participate until such outrageous discrimination comes to an end, Obama administration representatives walked through the door slammed in the face of Israelis and made themselves comfortable.

While Israelis are left standing in the hall during the Council’s regional group meetings, this week for the first time Libya took its seat as a full-fledged Council member. Other full voting members of the U.N.’s lead human rights body include such model citizens as Saudi Arabia, China, Cuba, Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
Joining the Human Rights Council was one of President Obama’s first foreign policy decisions. He knew then – what is still true today – that the Council has adopted more resolutions and decisions condemning the state of Israel than all other 191 U.N. members combined. He knew that the permanent formal agenda of the Council includes one item to condemn Israel and one for the rest of the world.
But rather than refusing to lend legitimacy to a body with a deeply entrenched bias, the president chose to join and direct U.S. taxpayer dollars its way, claiming that he would be the Council’s great reformer.
On Monday, writing in The New York Times, Ambassador Donahoe repeated the claim that U.S. engagement filled “a vacuum of leadership” and alleged that “the council is engaged in a serious self-reflection exercise for the purpose of improving its work and functioning with respect to its core mandate of protecting human rights.”
On the very same day as Donahoe’s op-ed appeared, the 57 members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) put the president in his place on any notion of reform. The OIC holds the balance of power at the Council, because the Council majority is composed of members from the African and Asian regional groups, and OIC countries form the majority in both the African and Asian groups.

Via Patterico, who’s trumpeting the gruesome per-job breakdown. Actually, to be precise, the money produced 54.46 jobs, so it’s almost half a job better than it sounds.
And in fairness, some of the waste is doubtless due to mismanagement by California’s municipal governments. Who knows? With solid leadership at the local level, this hundred mil could have produced, say, 70-80 jobs.

Global warming could be a thing of the past, thanks to the Obama administration. No, it has not managed to stop rising global temperatures – since temperatures aren’t actually rising – but it does think the terminology oversimplifies the imaginary problem.
According to John Holdren, people should use the phrase ‘global climate disruption’ because it makes the situation sound more dangerous.

Obama Goes On Incredible $192 Million Splurge-Fest – WorldNetDaily
House Republicans are collecting photos from citizens showing how the Obama administration is using nearly $200 million in taxpayer money to plaster every possible highway with signs touting how stimulus cash is “Putting America to Work” with infrastructure projects.
Rep. Darrell Issa, the ranking Republican member on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, published a new video today inviting citizen watchdogs to send in photos of the green “Projects Funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act” popping up around the country.
Entitled “Signs of a Failed Stimulus: Be a Citizen Watchdog,” the video seeks the investigative help of Americans “fed up with both President Obama’s failed ‘stimulus’ programs and the taxpayer-funded propaganda signs used to promote this $862 billion boondoggle which has not fulfilled its job-creation promises.”
In a statement released by his Washington office, Issa put out the challenge: “Seen a sign? Take a picture and send it with the address and location to stimulussigns@mail.house.gov.”
Issa’s office released an interactive map that allows readers to click on geographical locations around the country to view photographs citizens have taken of the nearly ubiquitous green American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) signs the Obama administration has been posting to advertise the “jobs created or saved” the White House likes to tout have resulted from deficit-spending stimulus projects.
Issa’s charge is not just that the stimulus spending has failed to create jobs, but the additional spending on stimulus roadsigns amounts to nothing more than a “propaganda” effort by the White House to convince Americans the stimulus has been successful, despite evidence to the contrary.
“This project harnesses the American public’s help in getting answers about why the administration has insisted on wasting potentially $192 million taxpayer dollars on pro-stimulus advertising even as the spending splurge has failed to meet the president’s own sales pitch: that the stimulus would keep unemployment below 8 percent and generate more than 4 million private sector jobs by the end of 2010,” Issa’s statement said.
“Today, unemployment stands at 9.6 percent, 14.9 million Americans cannot find work and more than 2.5 million people have lost their jobs since the stimulus became law.”
WND previously reported that a scathing Oversight Republican Staff Report has charged that the White House has “used the machinery of the Obama Campaign to tout the president’s agenda through inappropriate and sometimes unlawful public relations and propaganda initiatives.”
Under President Obama’s watch, some 3 million jobs have been lost, according to the Heritage Foundation. With 3 million jobs lost since Obama became president and the 3.5 million jobs Obama promised would be created if the stimulus plan were passed, Heritage concludes the Obama jobs deficit for 2010 stands at 7.6 million jobs.

Retirement Fund Trillions Lure Government Grabbers – American Thinker
Is the government making plans to confiscate your retirement money? The Obama administration is certainly exploring the idea.
This question no longer seems far-fetched when the group-thinkers in Washington unabashedly promote a doctrine of wealth redistribution and central planning. These Keynesian socialists know they will need vast new sources of revenues to fund their relentless spending binges.
