UNFREAKINGBELIEVABLE!

This will definitely make your head EXPLODE!

Doug Hagin Radio Show TONIGHT!

At 10PM EST here!

Again, why should I care what George Will thinks?

George Will is a bright guy, and he is often right, no doubt. But,he smacks of elitism at times, and frankly, this view, I think, is more about his snobby nature, than wisdom. Yes, the iamge of Palin right now among many would prevent her winning possibly. BUT, 2012 is a ways off, things can change.

More TSA shenanigans! How ’bout some intimidation!

We have heard the story, AND seen the video of the TSA agents searching a little boy, and have seen the boy have hist shirt removed. Well, the TSA issued a statement, and the man who shot the video says that TSA agents tried to intimidate him. Verum Serum has details

The TSA put up a response today to the video I posted yesterday of a young boy being strip searched:

On November 19, a family was traveling through a TSA checkpoint at the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). Their son alarmed the walk through metal detector and needed to undergo secondary screening. The boy’s father removed his son’s shirt in an effort to expedite the screening. After our TSO completed the screening, he helped the boy put his shirt back on. That’s it.

First thing to notice is that this directly contradicts the story of the witness who videotaped the incident. He wrote:

Before the video started the boy went through a metal detector and didn’t set it off but was selected for a pat down.

He goes on to say that the father pulled off the boy’s shirt because he was furious at the search. Conveniently for the TSA, there’s no video proof of their claim about the metal detector. But I also noticed that the man who shot the clip has added this to his description of what happened next:

After I finished videotaping the incident I went through the check point myself. I collected my things and went over to talk to the father and son. Before I could get to them a man in a black suit who had been talking with the other TSA officials approached me. He asked to speak to me and I obliged, wondering what was to come. He then proceeded to interrogate me about why I was videotaping the “procedures of the TSA”. I told him that I had never seen such practices before on a young child and decided to record it. The man being frustrated at this point demanded to know my plans with the video, of which I didn’t respond. Repeatedly he asked me to delete the video, hoping his mere presence could intimidate me to obey, but I refused. By this point it became obvious that he felt TSA had done something wrong and that I caught it on tape. After the interview, I left for my gate. I called my brother who told me I should put the tape on YouTube because this had been a recent hot topic in the news.

My gate was a long way off, but about 15 minutes after arriving 2 TSA agents came and sat 15 feet or so away from me. I stood up and moved so that they were in front of me and then took a picture. A 3rd and then a 4th agent came and sat down with the others. They would occasionally glance at me and talk on their walkie-talkies. I don’t know why they were there or if it was a huge coincidence but they stayed for 30-45 minutes and left just before I boarded the plan. Interesting to say the least, intimidating? Maybe a little…

Go read the whole post at Verum Serum, lots of more important info there.

You know, I think I will just agree with Clifton here!

Ok, I admit it, I was going to post my thoughts on those “Republicans”who belong to the David Brooks./Meghan McCain wing of the party, who seem to fear Sarah Palin getting the nod in 2012. I was, that is, until I read this post from Clifton, AKA Another Black Conservative, who sums it ball up very nicely.

For many rank and file conservatives, Sarah Palin is their dreams come true. Palin charismatically delivers the conservative message loud and clear without any fear of the left’s reaction.  Unfortunately, there is another part of the Republican Party that does not see Palin in the same light.  The Republican Bluebloods, the Country Club Crew, the Cocktail Set, the elite establishment or whatever names you wish to call them. These folks are desperate not to have Palin be the nominee and are now spouting all kinds of reasons why the nominee should be anyone but Palin.
They are all sounding the alarm that Palin cannot win the general election. This is not their real reason, for if it was, why then are they not discouraging truly hopeless candidates like Tim Pawlenty?  No, the real reason why the Bluebloods do not want Palin is simply because of power.  Sarah Palin is an outsider who is capable of grabbing the nomination without help from the  establishment. Should that happen, Palin would not owe the establishment a damn thing and would be free to bring in all kinds of outsiders to control the Republican Party.  This would leave elites like Karl Rove, the Bushes, Peggy Noonan, et al out in the cold, trying to curry favor with the type of conservatives they have been sneering down at for decades.

YES!, AMEN! That is it, in a nutshell! They are worried not about the party, or furthering Conservatism, but about preserving THEIR place in the pecking order!

Yes, that did happen 47 years ago today

Living in Dallas, where JFK was assassinated nearly 50 years ago,, I have driven by the spot where it happened hundreds of times, and I have wondered, what really went on? Did Oswald act alone? Was there a conspiracy? If there was, who was involved. Three things have always bothered me about that day.

First, why, if Oswald fired from that sixth-floor window, did he not fire when Kennedy was right below the window, while the car was moving its slowest?

Second, why did so many people think the kills hot came from the grassy knoll?

Lastly, it seems that the car speeds up after the final head shot, and not before. That seem odd to me.

Any thoughts?

Ground Zero Mosque Developers Want $5 Million In Federal Money Intended To Rebuild Lower Manhattan After 9/11 – Jihad Watch

A request made all the more outrageous by the fact that Rauf & Co. have shown themselves to be some of the most startlingly incompetent managers of money and property in recent memory:

In late August, we found out that the mosque developers were tax deadbeats to the tune of $224,000. In an application for tax-exempt status, Rauf claimed to operate a mosque that could hold 500 people, but in reality was an apartment that could not hold so many worshipers if they were crammed in like clowns in a Volkswagen. Rauf has filed a false tax return. He is a slumlord – the worst in Union City, New Jersey.

Meanwhile, the thug Sharif el-Gamal has been sued for an unpaid loan, and faced eviction from his SoHo office over $39,000 in back rent. He was found to owe $21,000 in fines on a property with 13 violations. And there are other unanswered questions.

And now they want more money – your money. The sense of entitlement that pervades the entire Ground Zero mosque project never ceases to amaze, as unsurprising as it is given the triumphalist agenda that drives it.

“Mosque Money Shocker,” by John Avlon for the Daily Beast, November 22 (thanks to all who sent this in):

Developers of the controversial Park51 Islamic community center and mosque located two blocks from Ground Zero earlier this month applied for roughly $5 million in federal grant money set aside for the redevelopment of lower Manhattan after the attacks of September 11th, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the matter.

The audacious move stands to reignite the embers of a divisive debate that dominated headlines surrounding the ninth anniversary of the attacks this fall, say people vested in the issue.

The application was submitted under a “community and cultural enhancement” grant program administered by the Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Corporation (LMDC), which oversaw the $20 billion in federal aid allocated in the wake of 9/11 and is currently doling out millions in remaining taxpayer funds for community development.

The redevelopment board declined to comment on the application (as did officials from Park51), citing the still ongoing and confidential process of determining the grant winners. While news of the application has not previously been made public, developer Sharif El-Gamal outlined it in closed-door meetings, according to two individuals he spoke with directly. The thirtysomething, Brooklyn-born El-Gamal is motivated more by real estate ambition – one of these sources describes him as aspiring to be the next Donald Trump – than Islamic theology or ideology.

Well, he’s not The Donald. But why couldn’t it be both?

Park51′s developers clearly had a legal right to apply for the grant. A list of Frequently Asked Questions that accompanied the application specifically states that religious organizations can make funding requests for capital projects “as long as the request is for a facility or portion of a facility that is dedicated to non-religious activities or uses.” According to an individual familiar with the Park51 application, it requests funds to cover a number of cultural, educational and community development aspects of the proposed 13-story building – but the prayer room is excluded from the grant application.

But the question on whether they could have is trumped by the question of whether they should have. The stated aim of the Park51 developers is to provide a community center for lower Manhattan’s 4,000 Muslim residents. Their own website explained that they understood the need to “appeal to the undecided, and change the conversation about Muslims in America.” It’s pretty clear that this play for federal dollars will generate none of that, starting with the lack of disclosure or community consultation before developers submitted their application, which was due November 5th.

“If Imam Feisal and his retinue want know why they’re not trusted, here’s yet another reason,” says Irshad Manji, author of The Trouble with Islam and Director of the Moral Courage Project at NYU, when I asked her about the grant proposal. “The New Yorkers I speak with have questions about Park51. Requesting money from public coffers without engaging the public shows a staggering lack of empathy – especially from a man who says he’s all about dialogue.” [...]

But the project likely doesn’t quality for a grant in the first place. Specifically, the grant criteria mandate a demonstration of a project’s financial feasibility, based on benchmarks set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The government will help complete development projects – but it does not provide seed capital. And in their last public financial statement, Park51 was found to have less than $20,000 in the bank for a project with a slated cost of $100 million.

When I heard Schieffer ask Hillary if she’d submit to a pat-down, I thought maybe Bob suspected her of smuggling cigarettes to the president, but Schieffer was instead referring to TSA searches:

Asked in the closing moments of an interview on CBS’s “Face the Nation” if she would submit to “one of these pat-downs” that has caused a national outcry among travelers, Clinton replied, “Not if I could avoid it.”

“No, I mean who would?,” she said with a chuckle.

Critics Slam Obama Administration For ‘Hiding’ Massive Saudi Arms Deal – ABC News

The Obama administration has quietly forged ahead with its proposal to sell $60 billion worth of fighter jets and attack helicopters to Saudi Arabia unhampered by Congress, despite questions raised in legislative inquiries and in an internal congressional report about the wisdom of the deal.

The massive arms deal would be the single largest sale of weapons to a foreign nation in the history of the U.S., outfitting Saudi Arabia with a fully modernized, potent new air force.

“Our six-decade-long security relationship with Saudi Arabia is a primary security pillar in the region,” Defense Sec. Robert M. Gates and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton wrote in a Nov. 16 letter to congress. “This package continues that tradition.”

But some critics are questioning the deal, and the stealthy effort by the Obama administration to avoid a more probing congressional review by notifying Congress last month, just as members were headed home for the November elections. Congress had 30 days to raise objections – a review period that concludes Saturday. With most members leaving Washington today, any significant effort to block the deal appears dead for now, officials said.

“I do not think there will be any action” to hold up the sale, Rep. Howard Berman, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Bloomberg News Thursday.

Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat, submitted a resolution this week to try and block the deal, and was among those who objected to the way the administration approached the required congressional review.

“Hiding this in a recess announcement is a sign of how unpopular it is,” he said. “It’s bad policy that now is further tainted by shameful process.”

The Obama administration has touted the deal as a boon for American jobs, and as a move to solidify the alliance between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia at a time when American intelligence is dependent on the Islamic nation for help in the war on terror. Earlier this month, it was a tip from Saudi intelligence that helped foil an al Qaeda plot to hide a bomb in a desktop printer aboard a UPS cargo plane.

The arrangement would ship 84 F-15 fighter jets and more than 175 attack helicopters to the Saudis over the next 15 years. The choppers, in particular, would “bolster Saudi Arabia’s counterterrorism capabilities,” Gates and Clinton wrote in their letter this week to congressional leaders.

Missouri Sen. Kit Bond, a Republican who will soon retire as his party’s ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, supports the arms sale, and told ABC News that the Saudis offered ample evidence of the value of the alliance when they provided tracking numbers for the parcels that contained the concealed bombs.

“If any of my colleagues have doubt that they can be friendly, I suppose this would send a strong signal that they can be friendly,” Bond said. Gates and Clinton also touted Saudi Arabia’s “significant” counterterrorism cooperation in their letter to congressional leaders, specifically citing help in thwarting the cargo bomb plot.

Obama’s Ex-Car Czar Sued By Cuomo, Settles With SEC – ABC News

Former Obama administration auto industry czar Steven Rattner was sued by New York’s attorney general on Thursday for allegedly paying kickbacks to win investments from the state’s $130 billion pension fund.

Rattner separately settled a related U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission civil lawsuit, agreeing to pay $6.2 million and accept a two-year ban from working with an investment adviser or broker-dealer.

The former investment banker led the federal government’s auto task force that oversaw the restructuring and bankruptcy of General Motors Co.

The lawsuit was filed by Andrew Cuomo, the New York attorney general and governor-elect, on the same day that GM began trading on the New York Stock Exchange.

Only hours before the suit was filed, Rattner had been on CNBC television talking about the revamped GM’s stock market debut.

The allegations date back to when Rattner worked at Quadrangle, the private equity firm he co-founded. Relations between the firm and Rattner have become strained, however.

Court papers showed on Thursday that he is pursuing arbitration proceedings to recover money he believes Quadrangle owes him. He also accuses his former employer of trying to “shift responsibility for its penalty” to him.

In a letter to investors obtained by Reuters, Quadrangle said it was vigorously defending itself against Rattner’s claims, and that Rattner’s conduct “continues his pattern of failing to take responsibility for his actions”.

Cuomo filed two lawsuits seeking to recover at least $26 million from Rattner and permanently bar him from the securities industry in the state.

Cuomo and the SEC alleged that Rattner entered quid pro quo arrangements with the New York State Common Retirement Fund to win $150 million in business for Quadrangle in 2005 and 2006.

The attorney general’s allegations include fraud charges under the Martin Act, a powerful state law used to combat securities fraud.

“Steve Rattner was willing to do whatever it took to get his hands on pension fund money,” Cuomo said in a statement. “Through these lawsuits, we will recover his ill-gotten gains and hold Rattner accountable.”

Rattner, 58, said he would fight Cuomo’s lawsuits, which he called “politically motivated,” and clear his name.

“This episode is the first time during 35 years in business that anyone has questioned my ethics or integrity,” Rattner said in a statement. “I will not be bullied simply because the Attorney General’s office prefers political considerations instead of a reasoned assessment of the facts.”

Rattner is the most prominent outside executive to face charges in the “pay to play” corruption probe involving the now $132.4 billion Common Retirement Fund.
