Yes, New York sucks
The Nanny Statists have to pay for their Socialism, and New Yorkers are bearing the burden it seems. I wonder if it ever dawned on the Liberal government of New York to spend less. I also ask if it will ever dawn of New Yorkers to start voting these Liberals out of office.
Some folks seem intent on bowing to radical Islam
A perfect example of this preemptive surrender of our values and principles is right here!
U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri Richard Callahan visited the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis last night to address the fears and frustrations of Muslim Americans who worry they are being racially profiled and wiretapped — and to assure them that the Missouri Legislature’s attempts to ban Sharia law from being considered in state courts here could face Constitutional challenges.
Seated in front of a large Muslim audience during a town hall-style meeting at the Ballwin mosque, Callahan anchored a panel that included fellow federal attorneys (one of whom was Muslim American), as well as three members of the FBI.
The tenor of the night was polite and respectful, but several members of the crowd expressed anger over what they perceive to be rising trends of Islamophobia in America over the past couple years, citing people burning the Koran and communities banning mosques as examples.
“There is a worse kind of Muslim hatred recently,” said Adil Imdad, one of the event’s organizers. “Especially in the last two years, Islamophobia and fear-mongering have been spreading like wildfire, and it’s causing a lot of stress for our youth.”
The problem is now hitting a little closer to home, said Imdad, pointing to three bills currently circulating through the state legislature that seek to limit Sharia law (Islamic law) in Missouri courts. Sharia law could come into play in rulings considering child custody or prisoner rights for Muslims. As we’ve reported, the bills have become a source of controversy.
Callahan responded by hinting that, should anti-Sharia legislation get passed by the Missouri Legislature, it could be overturned by the federal courts. “The Department of Justice has a good history of challenging laws passed by state legislatures,” he said. “If some laws are passed, I think you will see challenges by the federal government on the constitutionality of them.”
Exactly what place does religious law have in a court of law in this nation? Where is the ACLU? Wanna bet they would be front and center were this a discussion of using Christian law in courtrooms?
MSNBS guest: Global warming skeptics are pathological
Via Weasel Zippers. More personal attacks, demonization and Alinskyisms from the Kooky Far Left!
And the Nanny State grows again
An unbelievable story that truly illustrates how far down the road of slavery to the state we are
A yearlong sting operation, including aliases, a 5 a.m. surprise inspection and surreptitious purchases from an Amish farm in Pennsylvania, culminated in the federal government announcing this week that it has gone to court to stop Rainbow Acres Farm from selling its contraband to willing customers in the Washington area.
The product in question: unpasteurized milk.
It’s a battle that’s been going on behind the scenes for years, with natural foods advocates arguing that raw milk, as it’s also known, is healthier than the pasteurized product, while the Food and Drug Administration says raw milk can carry harmful bacteria such as salmonella, E. coli and listeria.
This is simple folks, truly simple. The federal government, nor in my opinion any state government has any reasonable right to dictate to adults whether or not they choose to sell, buy, or consume the milk in question. Now I know there are folks who will say, “it is for our own good”, or the classic ” if it just saves one life”. To those folks I say, simply, what other things do you wish the government to save us from?
Why not ban two story homes? After all people die every year falling down their stairs. Tens of thousands die in car crashes, why not ban cars? People choke to death, why not mandate that everyone eat pureed food only? Seriously people, either we are free or we are not. And this story is not one that should be told in a land of liberty!

Right on cue, here come the Green Nazis to exploit a tragedy!
When I heard about the tornadoes that killed over 200 people in Georgia and Alabama, I wondered how long until the tragedy pimp division of the Green Nazis would blame you know what. Sadly, these cretins were quick to use these deaths as a means of trying to scare folks into buying into their intellectually and morally bankrupt ideology!
How despicable is this?
Violent tornadoes throughout the southeastern U.S. must be a front-page reminder that no matter how successful climate deniers are in confusing the public or delaying action on climate change in Congress or globally, the science is clear: Our climate is worsening.
More extreme and violent climate is a direct consequence of human-caused climate change (whether or not we can determine if these particular tornado outbreaks were caused or worsened by climate change). There is a reason it isn’t called global warming anymore. Higher temperatures are only one — and not the most worrisome — of the consequences of a changing climate.
Climate science tells us unambiguously that we are changing the climate and trapping more energy on the planet. Trapping more energy will cause more extreme events and worsen extreme events that would otherwise happen.
Of course, these miscreants have tried to tie hurricanes, and volcanoes, and tsunamis, to “global warming” and now, naturally, they will blame tornadoes on evil mankind too! Of course, these natural disasters were around long before any SUVs or other alleged climate change culprits were. but the Green Nazis never allow some human deaths to go wasted do they?
It must be noted as Yid With Lid did here, that the bastard child of George Soros Think Progress was also in tragedy pimping mode.
Think Progress, the progressive blog funded by George Soros’ Center for American Progress was more direct;
“Given that global warming is unequivocal,” climate scientist Kevin Trenberth cautioned the American Meteorological Society in January of this year, “the null hypothesis should be that all weather events are affected by global warming rather than the inane statements along the lines of ‘of course we cannot attribute any particular weather event to global warming.”The congressional delegations of these states — Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Virginia, and Kentucky — overwhelmingly voted to reject the science that polluting the climate is dangerous. They are deliberately ignoring the warnings from scientists.
As Yid points out, these claims are NOT supported by scientists
Actually the charge that the tornadoes had anything to do with global warming or man-made climate change is deliberately ignoring the scientists. Fox News reported:
Greg Carbin, the warning coordination meteorologist at NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, said warming trends do create more of the fuel that tornadoes require, such as moisture, but that they also deprive tornadoes of another essential ingredient: wind shear.
“We know we have a warming going on,” Carbin told Fox News in an interview Thursday, but added: “There really is no scientific consensus or connection [between global warming and tornadic activity]….Jumping from a large-scale event like global warming to relatively small-scale events like tornadoes is a huge leap across a variety of scales.”
Asked if climate change should be “acquitted” in a jury trial where it stood charged with responsibility for tornadoes, Carbin replied: “I would say that is the right verdict, yes.” Because there is no direct connection as yet established between the two? “That’s correct,” Carbin replied.
Ah, so meteorologists are not buying the line that the Greenies are pushing. Not at all it would seem
US meteorologists warned Thursday it would be a mistake to blame climate change for a seeming increase in tornadoes in the wake of deadly storms that have ripped through the US south.
“If you look at the past 60 years of data, the number of tornadoes is increasing significantly, but it’s agreed upon by the tornado community that it’s not a real increase,” said Grady Dixon, assistant professor of meteorology and climatology at Mississippi State University.
“It’s having to do with better (weather tracking) technology, more population, the fact that the population is better educated and more aware. So we’re seeing them more often,” Dixon said.
But he said it would be “a terrible mistake” to relate the up-tick to climate change.
Well, actually, it would not be a “mistake” it is a deliberate campaign of fear and propaganda. Like all Marxists, which these Green Nazis certainly are, they are masters at using hyperbole, and frightening rhetoric to convince the masses that they must follow their lead, and accept whatever it is the Marxists are selling. In this case they are selling climate change. Their ultimate goal, is to enrich themselves. It is not to “save Mother Earth” or save mankind. It is to pad their own wallets. That is all. Like every other promise Marxists have ever made, it is a tissue of lies, meant not to give “Power to the People”, but to benefit the few Marxist elites.
For those who would doubt this, consider this nugget I had saved from Newsbusters
If you needed any more evidence that the entire theory of manmade global warming was a scheme to redistribute wealth you got it Sunday when a leading member of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change told a German news outlet, “[W]e redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy.”
Such was originally published by Germany’s NZZ Online Sunday, and reprinted in English by the Global Warming Policy Foundation moments ago:
(NZZ AM SONNTAG): The new thing about your proposal for a Global Deal is the stress on the importance of development policy for climate policy. Until now, many think of aid when they hear development policies.
(OTTMAR EDENHOFER, UN IPCC OFFICIAL): That will change immediately if global emission rights are distributed. If this happens, on a per capita basis, then Africa will be the big winner, and huge amounts of money will flow there. This will have enormous implications for development policy. And it will raise the question if these countries can deal responsibly with so much money at all.
(NZZ): That does not sound anymore like the climate policy that we know.
(EDENHOFER): Basically it’s a big mistake to discuss climate policy separately from the major themes of globalization. The climate summit in Cancun at the end of the month is not a climate conference, but one of the largest economic conferences since the Second World War. Why? Because we have 11,000 gigatons of carbon in the coal reserves in the soil under our feet – and we must emit only 400 gigatons in the atmosphere if we want to keep the 2-degree target. 11 000 to 400 – there is no getting around the fact that most of the fossil reserves must remain in the soil.
(NZZ): De facto, this means an expropriation of the countries with natural resources. This leads to a very different development from that which has been triggered by development policy.
(EDENHOFER): First of all, developed countries have basically expropriated the atmosphere of the world community. But one must say clearly that we redistribute de facto the world’s wealth by climate policy. Obviously, the owners of coal and oil will not be enthusiastic about this. One has to free oneself from the illusion that international climate policy is environmental policy. This has almost nothing to do with environmental policy anymore, with problems such as deforestation or the ozone hole.
Note the last part highlighted in red, read it again, this is straight from the Marxists mouth.
As a final note, Yid has some incredible examples of things the Greenies have tried to tie to global warming. As he points out, they Climate Change hoaxers do not have science on their side, so they have changed their tactics. Another typical Marxist action.

Indiana Governor Daniels To Sign Bill Defunding Planned Parenthood – USA Today
Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels said today he will sign a controversial bill that cuts off government funding to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider.
Indiana will become the first state to take such action.
“I supported this bill from the outset, and the recent addition of language guarding against the spending of tax dollars to support abortions creates no reason to alter my position,” said Daniels, a Republican.
The governor is currently weighing whether to run for president next year. Daniels has drawn fire for saying there should be “a truce on the so-called social issues until the economic crisis is resolved.”
Daniels said he expects to sign the Indiana bill in the next week or so.

The Indiana legislation would cut $3 million in federal money to Planned Parenthood that the state distributes for family planning and women’s health programs. The bill also bans abortions after the 20th week of pregnancy unless the life of the woman is threatened.
Planned Parenthood has said cutting off these funds would put low-income women who receive birth control, health screenings, and tests for sexually transmitted diseases from the organization at risk.
Daniels said he commissioned a review of services in Indiana and “can confirm that all non-abortion services, whether family planning or basic women’s health, will remain readily available” in all of Indiana’s 92 counties.
Indiana congressman Mike Pence, a Republican, tried this year to cut off all government funding for Planned Parenthood. Although his proposal passed the GOP-led U.S. House, it was taken out of a final fiscal 2011 budget agreement worked out by President Obama, House Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

NRA To Call For Holder’s Resignation Over ‘Project Gunrunner’ Allegations
NRA To Call For Holder’s Resignation Over ‘Project Gunrunner’ Allegations – Fox News
Having deflected questions so far regarding how much he knew about a federal project suspected of allowing guns sold in the U.S. to be illegally smuggled to Mexico, Attorney General Eric Holder is under fire again, this time from the National Rifle Association, a conservative group with a loud voice and influence in Washington.
Sources tell Fox News that NRA Executive Director Wayne LaPierre will call for Holder’s resignation in a Saturday morning speech at the NRA’s annual meeting in Pittsburgh.

LaPierre has criticized Holder’s handling of “Project Gunrunner.” The program of the Justice Department’s Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms is intended to stop the flow of guns to criminals in Mexico, but whistleblowers claim the bureau actually encouraged the illegal sale of firearms to known criminals, then allowed those guns to be smuggled to Mexico and tracked.
The practice of knowingly allowing guns to “walk” — or be sold to straw buyers and then transferred to criminal organizations — is against ATF policy. However, at least 15 ATF whistleblowers claim the agency, with the approval of Holder’s Department of Justice, encouraged gun stores to make sales to questionable buyers, then failed to interdict the weapons.
According to Mexican authorities, at least 1,800 of those weapons were successfully smuggled into Mexico, where the cartels used them to commit crimes and foment violence.
What especially galls and upsets U.S. gun owners is this: While the ATF was allegedly sending guns south, hoping to eventually bust the entire trafficking organization, Obama administration officials, including President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were partly blaming U.S. gun stores for the violence in Mexico.
“This war is being waged with guns purchased not here but in the United States. … More than 90 percent of the guns recovered in Mexico come from the United States, many from gun shops that lay in our shared border,” President Obama said on a visit to Mexico on April 16, 2009.
That statement, which Holder expanded on a month later, laid the groundwork for the anger felt by U.S. gun owners. Many of them even accuse the administration of purposely fueling the violence in Mexico to justify tighter controls on the type of guns sold in the U.S. and where they can be sold.
“When does it stop being law enforcement and start being a criminal enterprise,” La Pierre told CBS News. “Innocent people are dying. I mean artificially they set up straw man sales, to prove what? It is all under their watch.”
Attorney General Holder has asked his department’s inspector general to investigate the allegations.
But many say that isn’t good enough, fearing the Justice Department will sweep serious allegations under the rug and allow guilty department officials to go unnamed.
Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., have each initiated congressional investigations that the ATF and DOJ have so far stonewalled. Issa has threatened to hold contempt hearings if subpoenaed documents are not handed over to his House Oversight Committee.
Holder is expected to appear before Congress this week on related issues.
In a statement Friday, the Department of Justice told CBS, “We have invited the NRA to join us and other stakeholders from across the spectrum in working to find common-sense solutions to keep guns out of the hands of people who are not legally allowed to possess them. They have yet to come to the table with any productive suggestions, but we hope they will reconsider.”
LaPierre has said: “Why should I or the NRA go sit down with a group of people that have spent a lifetime trying to destroy the Second Amendment in the United States?”
The NRA consistently ranks as one of the most powerful lobbying organizations in Washington. It spent $10 million in the 2008 Presidential election.
Despite Court’s OK, D.C. Residents Unable To Legally Register Handguns
Despite Court’s OK, D.C. Residents Unable To Legally Register Handguns – The Blaze
It’s been almost three years since the United States Supreme Court overturned Washington, D.C.’s ban on handguns, but residents of the District remain unable to register guns in the city. Why? A “temporary, de facto ban” is in now in place after the sole individual who facilitated handgun ownership in the nation’s capital stopped accepting registration orders.
…………………….
WTOP reports:
Since the lifting of the handgun ban in June 2008, Charles Sykes has processed more than 1,000 handguns for District residents. Sykes tells WTOP he’s stopped taking orders for now. “I’ve lost my lease,” Sykes said in a phone interview. “I’ll take care of the customers who already placed orders, but I don’t want to take any more until I know where I will reopen.”
Sykes is the sole proprietor of C S Exchange, the only licensed firearm dealer in the city that will transfer guns for individuals. Sykes doesn’t sell the guns — there are no gun stores in D.C. His company facilitates the transfer of guns from out of state stores into the District for a fee of $125 per gun.
Federal law prohibits individuals from buying a handgun outside D.C. and then bringing it into the District. That transfer has to be done by someone with a Federal Firearms License.
Michelle Lane lives on Capitol Hill, and wanted a gun for protection and target practice. She bought two guns in Virginia: a Ruger LCR revolver and a Kahr K9 Elite 9mm. After buying them, she found out she couldn’t have them shipped into the city. “It’s not fair,” she tells WTOP. “I followed the law. Criminals bring guns into the city. It’s frustrating.”
It could be weeks before Sykes finds a new location for his store and even then, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) requires 30 days advance notice of a move, followed by an additional 60 days to review and approve the location. Until then, D.C. residents are out of luck.
“The city government of Washington, D.C. has a responsibility to make sure that every resident of D.C. can exercise their constitutional rights. And one of those constitutional rights is the individual to have a right to bear arms,” Sen. Charles Grassley said Friday. It’s “absolutely wrong” that D.C. resident can’t currently legally purchase a gun, he added. “Let the city government do the licensing if you don’t have a licensed dealer.”
Texas Bill Would Make Invasive Pat-Downs A Felony
Texas Bill Would Make Invasive Pat-Downs A Felony – Fox News
A former Miss USA’s claims of being groped during a pat-down at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport could be a felony under a bill gaining momentum in the Texas Legislature.
The bill would make it illegal for a security officer to intentionally touch someone’s private areas — even atop clothing — unless they have probable cause to believe the person is carrying something illegal.
Bill sponsor State Rep. David Simpson says the searches are removing people’s dignity.
Last fall the Transportation Security Administration started a new pat-down procedure.
Susie Castillo, crowned Miss USA in 2003, said she was “molested” during a pat-down last April.
TSA spokesman Nicholas Kimball says the agency doesn’t comment on pending legislation. He says current security measures are the best ways to mitigate the risk of terrorism.

Rooting for a team you hate to lose. And last night, I enjoyed Memphis knocking the San Antonio Spurs out of the NBA Playoffs!
These Memphis Grizzliesjust keep making NBA history — and believers.
Zach Randolph had 31 points and 11 rebounds and the Grizzlies advanced to their first Western Conference semifinals and made NBA history in knocking off the top-seeded San Antonio Spurs 99-91 on Friday night.
Memphis had been the franchise best known for empty seats and the unenviable NBA mark for playoff futility at 0-12 after being swept in its first three appearances. This time, a third straight sellout crowd cheered every basket with a couple of signs begging the Grizzlies to “Finish Them” in a town desperately needing a hero.
Now if my Mavs can knock out the Lakers, I will be so happy!
