Further proof that we should have never allowed West Virginia to leave Virginia
During the War Between the States, a portion of Virginia, seceded and joined the Union. Odd that the North, fighting against secession, no not to free slaves, would allow the people of that portion of Virginia to determine the government best for them, while fighting to deny that same right to the eleven Confederate States.
Anyway, I mention that bit of history in order to take a shot at the West Virginians in this poll
A new Public Policy Polling survey finds Donald Trump and Gov. Mike Huckabee tied for the lead in West Virginia, leading their other potential 2012 GOP Presidential Nomination rivals by a wide margin. Trump and Huckabee each have 24% of the vote, followed by Gov. Sarah Palin at 13%, and Gov. Mitt Romney at 11%.
So, West Virginia Republicans have a fever and the only cure is Trumpabee? Or is it Huck-a-Trump? Either way, those two choices are about as pathetic as it gets. Huckabee is a televangelist with better hair, and Trump has hair even a televangelist would laugh at! And more importantly, Trump is a LIBERAL!

A 25-year-old Spanish man has been ordered by a judge to leave home and look for a job after he took his parents to court for stopping his allowance money.
The man from Andalusia in southern Spain had taken the court action demanding a monthly allowance of $588 after his parents stopped giving him his spending money unless he tried to find a job.
However, the judge told the man, who has not been named in court documents, that he must leave his parents’ house within 30 days.
The judge said the man was studying law, albeit at a slow rate, and would probably not complete the degree for several years, but he thought he was still capable of finding some kind of work.
The family court in Malaga says the situation at the home had seriously deteriorated with the parents claiming their son had physically and verbally assaulted them.
The man’s mother works in a restaurant while his father works for a garbage collection firm. The judge also ordered that the parents should pay a $292 monthly food stipend for 2 years. The parents have also taken over the monthly repayments on their son’s car.
In Spain it is not unusual for offspring to remain living with their parents until well into their 30s, a trend strengthened by a tough labor market where the youth unemployment rate is 40.5%, the highest in the European Union.
There are 4.6 million Spaniards unemployed, and 1.3 million Spanish homes with no one in work, according to government figures for the fourth quarter of 2010.

Billionaire Donald J. Trump has a highly unusual history of political contributions for a prospective Republican candidate: He has given most of his money to the other side.
The real estate mogul and “Celebrity Apprentice” host has made more than $1.3 million in donations over the years to candidates nationwide, with 54 percent of the money going to Democrats, according to a Washington Post analysis of state and federal disclosure records.
Recipients include Senate Majority Leader Harry M. Reid (Nev.), former Pennsylvania governor Edward G. Rendell, and Rahm Emanuel, a former aide to President Obama who received $50,000 from Trump during his recent run to become Chicago’s mayor, records show. Many of the contributions have been concentrated in New York, Florida and other states where Trump has substantial real estate and casino interests.
The donations provide another view into the odd political spectacle surrounding Trump, who may be the most unlikely of possible GOP presidential hopefuls in an already eclectic field. Although candidates such as Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty have spent years carefully crafting and plotting a White House run, the tycoon and fixture of the New York tabloids has leapt onto the scene with loud proclamations and surprisingly strong poll numbers among likely Republican voters.
The iconoclastic developer and television personality is attempting to appeal to social conservatives, even with a record of failed marriages and earlier statements in favor of abortion rights. His attacks on Obama have focused on conspiracy theories about the president’s birth in Hawaii that make many Republican leaders nervous. And Trump is considering a run for the nomination in an increasingly conservative Republican Party, despite years of donations to prominent Democrats.
None of which has stopped him from forging ahead with a potential candidacy, including a scheduled trip on Wednesday to the early primary state of New Hampshire.
The Democratic recipients of Trump’s donations make up what looks like a Republican enemies list, including former senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.), Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), Rep. Charles B. Rangel (N.Y.), Sen. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and the late liberal lion Edward M. Kennedy (Mass.).
The biggest recipient of all has been the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of New York, which has taken in more than $125,000 from Trump and his companies. Overall, Trump has given nearly $600,000 to New York state campaigns, with more than two-thirds going to Democrats.
His representatives did not respond to requests for comment Tuesday. But Trump said in a recent interview that he had relatively few Republican options in an overwhelmingly blue state.
“Everyone’s Democratic,” he told Fox News in an interview about his potential candidacy. “So what am I going to do – contribute to Republicans? One thing: I’m not stupid. Am I going to contribute to Republicans for my whole life when they get heat when they run against some Democrat and the most they can get is 1 percent of the vote?”
His Democratic generosity is hardly confined to New York, however. Trump has given more than $250,000 to federal candidates and campaigns, including more than $100,000 to the party’s House and Senate campaign committees. He donated $10,400 to Reid, including for his 2010 battle with Sharron Angle, the GOP nominee and tea party favorite.
Ron Bonjean, a GOP consultant and former Capitol Hill aide, said that “it will be hard for him to spin his way out of direct campaign contributions” to Reid and other Democrats.
“In a Republican primary, it shows where your loyalty lies,” said Bonjean, who has not signed on with a GOP presidential candidate. “He may be giving this money to Democrats because it helps his business, but it will be a big deal to Republican primary voters.”
While favoring Democrats, Trump has donated more than $600,000 to Republicans as well, including Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), the party’s 2008 presidential nominee, whom Trump first supported in 1998.
He gave $95,000 to the Republican Governors Association for its record-breaking electoral push in 2010, and he has donated more than $80,000 to the three national GOP political committees in the past two decades. Individual Republicans supported by Trump include former congressman Tom DeLay (Tex.), former House speaker Newt Gingrich (Ga.) and former senator George Allen (Va.).
The data collected by The Post for this article does not include donations to outside interest groups. Last year, for instance, Trump gave $50,000 to American Crossroads, which supported Republican candidates in the midterm elections.
GOP political consultant Alex Castellanos said Trump’s contribution pattern is similar to the approach of many business leaders and corporations that divide their donations between the two parties. But to get through a Republican primary season, he added, “it doesn’t help to have that record.”
One of Trump’s biggest Democratic beneficiaries was Rendell, who received $32,000 from the mogul during his 2002 primary and general election campaigns to become Pennsylvania’s governor. Rendell, who favors abortion rights, was challenged in the Democratic primary by Bob Casey Jr., who opposes abortion.
When he considered a run for president in 2000 as a Reform Party candidate, Trump said he supported abortion rights. But he said last week that he now opposes the procedure except in cases of rape or incest or when the mother’s health is at risk.
In Pennsylvania, Rendell favored allowing slots gambling, and Trump waged a long and ultimately fruitless battle to secure a casino license in the state after the practice was legalized. He publicly lashed out at Rendell when an independent gaming board rejected the license application, calling Pennsylvania “a little too political of a state for me.”
The tycoon benefited from a Rendell decision to lift a moratorium on water development rights in Philadelphia, allowing a planned Trump Tower project to proceed. The luxury development has since been put on hold amid the economic downturn.
Rendell did not respond to a telephone message seeking comment Tuesday.
Former congressman Thomas M. Davis III (Va.), who served as chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said Trump’s close ties to some Democrats would be “a huge obstacle, but it’s not insurmountable.” Trump, he added, would not be running as a “purity” candidate.
“Republicans are looking for a savior,” Davis said. “Here’s a guy who has succeeded outside politics and articulates the right vision. Sometimes that works… It’s a long shot, but it’s not out of the bounds of possibility.”

Miriam Garmas, a 34-year-old Florida woman was jailed after she allegedly used her mother’s identity to buy herself a new set of breasts.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, an investigation was launched when the Garmas’ mother looked at her credit report and noticed several lines of credit open that she hadn’t authorized.
She reportedly called authorities and explained that it was likely her daughter who used her identity to commit fraud.
Investigators say Garmas used her mother’s name and social security number to establish several lines of credit.
The largest purchase reported from the fraudulent accounts was $4,200 that was used for breast augmentation surgery, according to Det. Juan Llera of the Sheriff’s office.
She went on to spend $445 at Victoria’s Secret, $321 at Old Navy and $2,333 for a new Dell Computer. In total, the fraudulent accounts “racked” up more than $10,000 in debt.
Garmas was booked into the Monroe County Jail on seven counts of fraud.

During his conference with a hostile press, Trump moved away from the birth certificate issue to step up his attacks on the Obama administration for its dealings with China and for soaring oil prices. He slammed OPEC, claiming the cartel’s price fixing is killing the American economy.
He took issue with Obama’s claim that the president can do little to control gasoline prices, and claimed the United States has been overly protective of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait and said those oil kingdom should take steps to lower the price of oil.
Trump slammed the press as well, claiming the media have largely been “very protective” of Obama. And now that Obama has released his birth certificate, Trump called on the president to release his college records and other documents he has so far declined to release.

College Course: US Flag Is Racist, How-To Defeat America In Iraq And Afghanistan – Big Government
While claiming the American flag represents racism and discussing today’s Progressive Movement’s efforts to defeat America both at home and abroad, including on the battlefields of Iraq and Afghanistan to help their international “comrades,” Communist Tony Pecinovsky pulls the mask off today’s Progressive Movement in two new exclusive Big Government videos of a University of Missouri course offering, already much in the news.
Pecinovsky first came to light yesterday in a Washington Times item by Kerry Picket.
Communism 101 at the University
Tony Pecinovsky, a Communist Party USA representative who is serving as the Communications Workers of America Secretary and Treasurer in St. Louis, spoke to students at the University of Missouri in St. Louis. In the video, he speaks about how the Communist Party looks to support candidates saying (5:30 mark in the video):
While discussing “the idea that the American flag is racist,” in the video below, Pecinovsky mentions a 2005 international youth festival in Venezuela sponsored by the World Federation of Democratic Youth(WFDY).

Pecinovsky brags that the WFDY is officially recognized by the United Nations. He also defines Cuba, Venezuela, and others as genuinely “progressive,” the very same code word today’s entire American Left uses for itself. That would include the Obama administration and today’s Democrat Party, which it has finally managed to take over. In deed, in the second video, Pecinovsky touts their linkage to such so-called mainstream efforts, including trade unions.
The Young Communist League(YCL) sent 700 young Americans to Venezuela for the event. There, claims Pecinovsky, they had to actually engage in internal debate as to whether, or not to display the American flag next to the flags of countries like Cuba and Venezuela. If they did, it would be only so as to reclaim it from representing racism and what he calls the Right Wing. That includes the Bush administration, as Pecinovsky later reveals.
Going on to call America “the belly of the beast,” Pecinovsky notes the surprising growth of the Communist Party in America today, claiming an additional 1,500 – 2,000 new members this year, just through the Internet. That number does not include results from ground-level activism and recruiting, according to Pecinovsky.

In the above video, Pecinovsky defines Progressive Internationalismin terms of how to isolate and defeat what he calls the “ultra Right” in the US. Bear in mind, to him, that term means free market Capitalism and traditional forms of liberty America has traditionally embraced, as well as the previous Bush administration. When speaking of the Left’s “Iraqi comrades,” and again in speaking about Afghanistan, Pecinovsky’s and the greater Left’s view is, they are organizing domestically to beat America abroad, as well as at home, including while we are at war.
Lest some critics want to dismiss Pecinovsky as some far Leftist fanatic, one only need look to the Peace Movement – which he also addresses, to understand how his progressivism is the very same as that of today’s mainstream Democratic Party. In many ways, it was said Peace Movement and its propaganda, circulated by a complicit media, that so tipped the scales against former President Bush, opening the way for Obama to win the WHite House in 2008.
It was former Democrat Vice President Al Gore who accused then President Bush of betraying the countryover Iraq, not some minor Communist activist lecturing a class in Missouri. Those unwilling, or unable to make the very real connection between a Pecinovsky and the Democrat administration we currently have in Washington are simply putting their heads in the sand.
As if to highlight that point, Pecinovsky mentions how his and the Democrat’s anti-American agenda is closely tied to who holds sway in the White House and Congress. He is not talking revolution, but a taking over of America from within, with what he identifies as a “larger movement.” That’s today’s Left – in practice not theory. And that is precisely what was happening in Washington, until the political reversals of 2010. Was not ObamaCare dictated to us, despite an election in Massachusettes clearly identifying any American majority opinion as opposed to it?
Moving on from the Peace Movement, to Labor, Pecinovsky runs through the well-known alliances making up today’s far Left as part of a unified larger movement. “Almost every member of our (communist) organization is a member of a union, is a member of a coalition, is a member of neighborhood association. Is a member of a peace organization.” WHile he didn’t say it, how do they differ, especially “neighborhood association,” from community organizer? They don’t. And we know who the community-organizer-in-chief is in America today, do we not?
In terms of unity, he talks of the existing alliances between many nationally recognized groups and movements through which he and others organize to bring about… change, I suppose. What the Communist Pecinovsky is part of is not simply some ten member group meeting monthly in a basement somewhere. He makes it quite clear how broad and networked is today’s Progressive movement through much larger organizations of, ultimately, like-minded groups with large memberships.
Capitalism is “the ultimate enemy,” says Pecinovsky at 4:20 into the second video. The goal, he says, is not “duel unionism,” in which some even further Left splits off on his own. What they do and have done already is infiltrate groups already in existence. The mobs that recently swarmed Wisconsin, issuing violent threats to Governor Walker and lawmakers did not simply appear out of nowhere. And now it’s busy trying to recall some of the latter.
Finally, to think that a university selling this anti-American, anti-Capitalist ideology would get $400 million in taxpayer dollars, only to squander some portion of it on classes and an institute of some kind to poison young minds against the very country that built and now largely funds said institution, is only adding insult to injury.

(Fox News) — Van Jones, the Obama administration’s controversial former “green jobs czar,” has found a new calling: helping to push for a new, global architecture of environmental law that would give Mother Nature the same rights status as humans.
The new movement is almost certain to be showcased at a U.N.-sponsored global summit on “sustainable development” to take place in Rio de Janeiro in May 2012, when similar issues of “global environmental governance” are a major focus of attention.
Jones is taking up the challenge as one of the newest board members of an obscure San Francisco New Age-style organization known as the Pachamama Alliance, which has been creating a global movement to make human rights for Mother Nature an international reality — complete with enforceable laws — by 2014. The Rio summit will create an important midpoint for that campaign.
Jones joined the alliance’s board last December, shortly after the organization announced creation of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature to carry the concept around the world—and install it not only in international law but in the statutes of communities and municipalities across the U.S.
Again, the Marxist Left seeks nothing less than what Lennin, Stalin, and Mao sought. That is complete and total control of you, and everything you have. Your property, how you raise your kids, your wealth, and of course your liberty. They are evil, never forget that. We Southerners are many things, and patriotic is at the top of that list. The Westboro bastards Church, whose members are evil scum, protest at the funerals of our fallen soldiers, all in the name of their perverse brand of Christianity. We all knew that one day, one day, these cretins would get theirs, and i promised that I would do the HAPPY DANCE when that happened. Well, thanks to some great Mississippians, I am dancing baby!
Brandon, Mississippi will go down in history as the town where the Westboro Baptist Church met its match.
The lunatics showed up to protest at the funeral of local hero Staff Sgt Jason Rogers who was killed in Afghanistan, but left town without making a peep. They may have made a few moans and groans, but no peeps.

A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.
Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.
Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.
A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.
No lawyers. No judges. No counter protests. Just a good old fashioned ass kicking.
That’s exactly what the Westboro lunatics have been asking for, so it’s only fair that the good folks in Rankin County gave it to them.
Next time, put it on pay per view and make a fortune for the widows and children of the military heroes. We know we’d pay to see it.

I’m not exactly sure if it’s denial, or simply defining communism down. Probably a bit of both, but it could also be actual ignorance. At communist Henry Farrell’s Crooked Timber, for example:
There’s a few Marxists left in academia (like me, although being in math what parent would notice or care…?) but in all honesty the idea that someone’s kids could be indoctrinated into communism is sadly even” more absurd now than it was then. Anyway I’d guess that in 1951 there were even fewer communists on campus than today – the Legion didn’t need actual examples to create the spectre of the (Jewish, as has been mentioned) communist undermining the moral and character of American youth.

Home prices are falling in most major U.S. cities, and at least 10 major markets are at their lowest point since the housing bubble burst.
The Standard & Poor’s/Case-Shiller 20-city index shows price declines in 19 cities from January to February. The index fell for the seventh straight month. Prices fell at a faster rate in 11 markets in February compared with the previous month.
High unemployment, stricter lending rules and fears that prices will fall further are among the reasons why few people are buying and selling homes. A record number of foreclosures are forcing down home prices in most metro areas, and prices are expected to keep falling through this year.
“There is evidence that potential sellers are holding their properties off the market, waiting for housing prices to stop falling,” said Bricklin Dwyer, an analyst at BNP Paribas.
Detroit was the only market to show a monthly gain, although the Motor City is one of five cities where home prices are now below their January 2000 levels.
Prices in Atlanta, Charlotte, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, New York, Phoenix, Portland, Ore., Seattle and Tampa are all at their lowest point since 2006 or 2007, at the height of the housing boom. The cities with the steepest declines from January were Minneapolis, San Francisco, Chicago and Miami.
In many depressed markets, a significant percentage of buyers are really investors and private equity firms looking to cash in on cheap real estate.
Some of the worst declines in home prices are in cities hit hardest by unemployment and foreclosures.
Foreclosures are expected to rise to 1.2 million this year as many banks revisit thousands of foreclosure cases, spurred into action by federal regulators who have ordered top-to-bottom reviews of how foreclosures were carried out over the past two years.
“It’s hard to sell when buyers have the leverage and foreclosures continue to create a gap between distressed sale prices and non-distressed sale prices,” said Jonathan Basile, an economist at Credit Suisse Securities. More than 90 percent of homeowners say it’s a bad time to sell their home, according to the Reuters/University of Michigan Survey of Consumers.
The Case-Shiller index measures sales of select homes in those cities compared to January 2000. For each of the 20 metro areas it studies, the index provides an updated three-month moving average price. By measuring the sales price of the same homes over time, the index attempts to gauge true market values.

A senior al-Qaeda leader and the second most wanted terrorist in Afghanistan has been killed in an air strike, according to Nato, ending a four-year manhunt.

Abu Hafs al-Najdi, also known as Abdul Ghani, a Saudi Arabian, was killed 12 days ago in Dangam district, on April 13, as he met other senior terrorist and al Qaeda members, an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) statement said.
“Abdul Ghani was responsible for the co-ordination of numerous high-profile attacks. On the morning of his death, he reportedly directed the suicide attack that killed tribal elder Malik Zarin and nine other Afghan civilians,” ISAF said.
Abu Hafs al-Najdi was al-Qaida’s operations chief for Kunar and was responsible for establishing terrorist camps and training sites throughout the volatile mountain province.
ISAF said he was one of more than 25 al Qaeda operatives killed in Afghanistan during operations over the past month in the lead-up to Afghanistan’s summer fighting months.
Najdi, whose real name was Saleh Naiv Almakhlvi Day, controlled and armed a network of terrorist that targeted Afghan and ISAF security force outposts throughout Kunar, including two in February, ISAF said.
He was also No. 23 on Saudi Arabia’s list of 85 most wanted terrorist issued in 2009, which said he was active in either Afghanistan, Pakistan or Iran. ISAF began hunting him in Afghanistan in 2007.
ISAF said Najdi was with a Pakistani Qaeda operative named Waqas when the air strike took place, killing both, as well as an unspecified number of other terrorist.
“Abdul Ghani commonly instructed subordinate leaders to conduct kidnapping operations against foreigners… and he was responsible for directing suicide bomb attacks targeting U.S. government officials,” ISAF said.
Terrorist in the country are under stepped-up pressure from Nato-led troops and a growing Afghan army ahead of the start this summer of a transfer of security responsibilities from foreign to Afghan forces.
An ISAF spokesman would not name the coalition’s top terrorist target for fear of hampering their search, but alliance commanders have previously claimed there are only 50 to 100 Qaeda fighters still active in Afghanistan.
The withdrawal of US forces from the Korengal and Pech river valleys in Kunar in late 2009 has created more space for al Qaeda and the Taliban to expand their operations in the region, security website The Long War Journal said.
