As I just remarked on the ‘American And Proud’ blog…

While he may not be my personal favorite of the bunch you’ve listed, I have no doubt that if Rick Perry throws his hat into the ring, he’ll win both the GOP nomination and the White House in 2012. Why do I believe this? Four reasons mainly.

    1. He’s conservative enough on all the issues important to most right-wingers to garner wide-ranging support among the party’s base.

    2. He’d likely be acceptable to most beltway Republican elitists as well, because he’s got the experience, the name recognition, the looks and the demeanor to win.

    3. He holds the exact opposite view of how to stimulate economic growth than Barack Obama does, and his has been a shining success story in a country being decimated by leftist policies.

    4. He has none of the major baggage of most of the other viable candidates.
    Here’s several good examples:
    a. Palin – quit her job as governor, and many women hate her guts because she’s far more attractive than they are.
    b. Newt – is largely despised by the tea party – as well as other independent conservatives – for selling out on global warming, the massive Medicare Plan D entitlement and Paul Ryan’s “radical” debt plan. Plus his ex-wife issues do not endear him to women.
    c. One word for Mitt… RomneyCare.
    d. Bolton – may be smart and very right-wing, but he’s not at all camera-friendly, and ugly people don’t win the Presidency anymore.
    e. Cain – has no formal experience in government, and while many find that fact attractive, just as many others consider it a sincere hindrance.
    f. Pawlenty – Yawn.
