Iran Has Secretly Stocked Enough Enriched Uranium For Four Nuclear Bombs – Debka File
The Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, American’s scientific watchdog on world nuclear weapons production, estimates that by Dec. 2008, Iran had accumulated enough U-235 to fuel one nuclear bomb; by 2009, enough for a second, by August 2010 material for a third bomb and by April 2011, enough enriched uranium for a fourth bomb.
These estimates presuppose an Iranian decision to further process low-enriched material to weapons grade – a process taking no more than a couple of months.
Iran, says the Wisconsin Project, is consolidating its status as a “virtual” nuclear weapon state – meaning it can set about building a bomb whenever its rulers so decide.
In its twice-annual report published Thursday, June 2, Wisconsin revealed three further developments in Iran’s nuclear drive:
1. Since November 2010, when Iran stopped enriching uranium in all cascades at the Natanz plant for about a week (the report does not give the reason for the stoppage – possibly a Stuxnet virus invasion of its computer control system), the enrichment rate has increased. The 5,000 centrifuges spinning in February 2011 increased to nearly 6,000 in May 2011.
Debkafile’s Iranian sources add: Prof. Ferei-doon Abbasi Davani has taken over as director of the enrichment complex at Natanz. He was formerly in charge of combating the Stuxflex worm. Last November, Prof. Abbasi Dayani escaped with light injuries from an attack by a pair of motorcyclists who attached a sticky bomb to his car. It occurred near the Imam Hossein University in Tehran where most of Iran’s secret nuclear labs are located.
2. Wisconsin quotes the International Atomic Energy Agency’s May 2011 report that one of its seals was broken in the “feed and withdrawal area” of the Natanz enrichment plant.
This means that Iran took action to conceal the real amount of is enriched uranium stockpile from the nuclear watchdog and the fact, as Wisconsin reports, that it has accumulated enough material for building four nuclear bombs. Its steady progress will go undetected until the next IAEA inventory in October or November.
Debkafile’s intelligence sources point out that Tehran has won a period of six to seven months for keeping its nuclear activities hidden from oversight with no one in the West or in Israel able to find out what is going on at the Natanz enrichment plant.
3. Wisconsin goes on to state: “Uncertainties about the number of centrifuges operated by Iran make it difficult to draw a conclusion about the performance of individual machines.” More machines may be switched on when IAEA inspectors are not present while less, more advanced centrifuges, may take over after the inspection is over.
Our sources stress that these revelations are highly pertinent to the controversy taking place in Israel over the surprising comments by ex-Mossad Director Meir Dagan.
Dubbed “Mister Stop the Bomb” for reputedly directing covert operations that held off Iran’s nuclear threat for five or six years – though this may an exaggeration – Dagan suddenly began speaking out strongly against any Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear program. Wednesday, June 1, he implicitly warned that such an attack would precipitate a regional war in which Israel would fare badly.
Israel’s political and defense establishments have always had their doves but Dagan is sounding one like for the first time.
The controversy around his comments reflects a similar argument afoot in US political and defense circles over whether the time has come to smash Iran’s nuclear capability or stand by and let the Islamic Republic becomes a “virtual nuclear weapon state.”
In the last three years, the two schools of thought for and against military action against Iran have been joined by a third, which affirms that the US and Israel can live with an Iran armed with one or two nuclear bombs because this number would be dwarfed even by Israel’s reputed stock let alone the American arsenal. Therefore, until Iran stockpiles a serous arsenal of weapons, it does not constitute an existential threat to Israel.
The Wisconsin Project’s latest report explodes this argument because it exposes the steady accumulation of materials for four bombs in two-and-a-half years and Iran’s dogged advance toward a serious arsenal unless it is stopped.
That is the reason why the military option is back on the table in Jerusalem.

Black is beautiful just turned ugly. A California organization has been accused of racism because it ran pro-life outdoor boards in black neighborhoods.
Of course it sounds insane. But Representative Barbara Lee is involved in the story, so it’s insane by definition.

…The Issues4Life Foundation and The Radiance Foundation have launched a pro-life billboard campaign with the goal of saving the lives of hundreds of thousands of black babies aborted in America each year.
“The impact of abortion in the black community is the Darfur of America,” Walter B. Hoye II, president of the Issues4Life Foundation, told Life Site News.
The signs in question contain the message “Black & Beautiful” and are going up in largely black communities in Oakland, Calif.
Statistics show that black women are three times more likely to have abortions as the general population. So it would seem to be a good idea to run the ads in black neighborhoods. But, no, attempting to save the lives of black babies is – you guessed it – racist.
…Planned Parenthood and California pro-choice groups are calling the ads racist. They say the “black & beautiful” slogan is too close to the “black is beautiful” cultural-pride campaign made popular in the 1960s.
Rep. Barbara Lee, D-Calif., has also spoken out against the billboards.
“I am deeply offended by the race-based billboards that are being displayed in my congressional district by the Radiance Foundation and Issues4life,” she said in a statement.
“These billboards stigmatize women of color and perpetuate myths about parenting skills and the types of women who seek and use abortion services,” Lee added.
You know the race mongers have truly jumped the shark when attempting to save the lives of black babies is called racism.
And in the case of Barbara Lee, it’s just too bad that retroactive abortion isn’t legal.

I checked and re-checked the date on this story to make sure it wasn’t a couple of years old, because nobody could be this stupid now – right? Yeah, I know. I soon came to my senses and remembered who we’re dealing with.
Believe it or not, the Captain(s) of the Titanic are talking about taking one more run at the iceberg before the ship goes under:
Democrats in the Senate on Wednesday called on Vice President Joe Biden to include new economic stimulus spending in deficit-reduction talks as a way of lowering the 9.1 percent jobless rate that is hobbling the economic recovery.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the proposal to the White House, Richard Durbin, the No. 2 Democratic senator, told reporters.
“The Republicans are fixating on the budget deficit and it’s a serious problem,” Durbin said.
But citing the conclusions of a presidential deficit-cutting commission that he served on last year, Durbin added, “Get the recovery right before you get in this deficit cutting mode… get people back to work. Let’s start moving in that direction.”
More spending should do a lot to address this problem:
The Congressional Budget Office reported Wednesday that the nation probably will owe outside creditors more than the size of the entire economy in 10 years.
The forecast – a public debt equal to 101% of the economy in 2021, and rising to 187% by 2035 unless dramatic changes are made – should be a warning to President Obama, Congress and Vice President Biden’s band of bipartisan negotiators meeting daily to devise just a short-term fix.
Should be a warning, but obviously it isn’t.

Today I am in New York on my publicity tour for Watermelons and as I sat at breakfast this morning, chomping on an Ess-a-bagel and reading Thomas Sowell’s Basic Economics I found myself wondering – not for the first time – why it is that liberal-lefties manage to be so utterly wrong about everything.
“Because they’re stupid,” said a libertarian friend of mine.
“Oh come on, not all of them surely? A bit misguided, maybe but…” I protested.
“No really they’re stupid because they’re not interested in facts. They just want to construct their pretty little narrative about the world, regardless of whether or not it has any bearing on reality. And then they want to dump it on us. And ruin our lives. So not just stupid but evil too.”
Well, you know me: what a big-hearted, sensitive, caring, emollient kind of guy I am. I thought these words were harsh, really harsh. But that was before I saw this video.
It features Chris Matthews, one of America’s most popular liberal talk show hosts, talking to a liberal journalist from liberal blogsite Salon called Joan Walsh and another liberal journalist from liberal Rolling Stone magazine on the liberal politics programme Hardball. And guess what these liberals believe the problem with Climate Change is? Go on: think of the most stupid, reality-denying, fact-ignoring, evidence-torturing tosh anyone involved in the media could possibly have to say on the subject. (H/T Climate Depot)
Yes, that’s right.
They think that the naughty yellow pixies who pull the special, magic Climat-O-Levers which control the weather have been paid by evil capitalists with fat cigars in their mouth and $ signs on their pinstripe suits to make the world’s climate all horrid so that poor, underprivileged and disabled people and endangered creatures suffer – and that the reason we don’t know about it is because the media is run by evil Conservatives who want to keep this truth a secret.
Well, almost. What these liberal opinion-formers actually think – and you’ve really got to hand it to them: not even a lobotomised amoeba could beat them in a competition for dumbest creature on the planet, these three are absolute champs, Matthews especially, make no mistake – is as follows.
They think the main reasons for the public’s growing scepticism on Climate Change are 1. The media has been far too balanced on the subject and is not pushing the eco-message hard enough. 2. Big business is funding Climate Denialism. 3. Evil Conservatives – led by Evil Talk Show Hosts Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck – are deliberately telling lies about Climate Change. 4. The Republican party is “anti-science”.
My favourite bit is the one where Chris Matthews, who I believe takes himself seriously as a journalist, declares: “I hate that even-handed, so-called objective journalism. You know, you can’t say something isn’t true if it’s true…”
Do you know, on that last point at least I totally agree with Chris Matthews. So let’s examine a few of the claims which he and his two guest liberal echo chambers made on Hardball.
1. The media under-reports climate change. Oh yes. That will explain, for example, the recent widely reported story Decline Of Oceans Worse Than Previously Thought – given unquestioning coverage everywhere from the Sydney Morning Herald, the New York Times and Time magazine to the BBC. Yet as research from Ben Pile at Climate Resistance shows, most of these experts offering their supposed expert views on the imminence of pelagic climate doom were in fact just an ad hoc group of activists from heavily politicised organisations like Greenpeace and Pew Environment Group. Such is the state of Environmental reporting around the world these days: it consists of little more than lovingly transcribed press releases from hardcore ecoloon pressure groups.
2 Jo Nova has estimated that the amount spent by government agencies, left-leaning charitable foundations and big business promoting “global warming” is approximately 3,500 times more than the amount spent funding climate change scepticism.
3. With notable exceptions such as Fox news, US conservative talk radio, the generally right-leaning blogosphere and one or two papers such as Canada’s National Post, the Wall Street Journal and the Daily Express (and increasingly, the Mail) there are few media outlets in the world which broadcast anything other than green propaganda. Far from being evil, the likes of Beck and Limbaugh are islands of truth in a (presumably doomed, increasingly acidified) ocean of lies. (I’d be interested if Matthews could produce some concrete examples of these “lies” that Limbaugh and Beck have told on climate change).
4. Would that be “science” in the sense used by Al Gore, as in the received wisdom of a self-selecting cabal of post-normal activist scientists who dominate organisations like the IPCC, the National Academy of Sciences and the Royal Society. If so, then the Republican party is indeed “anti-science” because – with notable exceptions such as Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich, of whom more in a subsequent post, very likely to be entitled “Mitt Romney prefers dog poop yogurt” – bases its scientific views on old fashioned virtues like rationalism, empiricism and open-minded, honest research rather than junk science dogma.
If we’re talking about science in the more old fashioned sense of the word as it might have been understood by, say Newton or Popper, rather than James Hansen or Al Gore, than no, the Republicans are not “anti-science.”

In typical union and socialist propaganda, employers are depicted as cruel and uncaring business owners who never miss an opportunity to cheat and mistreat workers.
Big Labor’s “us versus them” worldview is so entrenched that they can’t recognize the fact that most successful companies value their employees, and do whatever they can to retain their best workers. That reality, of course, undercuts the relevance of unions.
So what’s a union to do?
Like their fellow travelers in the “man-made” global warming community, the unions know they have to indoctrinate the young with their propaganda. But when you’re dealing with kindergartners, you have to insert the concept of unionizing subtly into lessons. You’ll get blank stares if you talk about the virtues of Jimmy Hoffa or the Service Employees International Union.
The California Federation of Teachers produced the perfect solution with “Trouble in the Hen House: A Puppet Show.” To spare you the unpleasantness of reading this bilge, here’s the basic plot: a bunch of hens feel “oppressed” by the farmer, so they band together and create Hens United. The angry unionized chickens are too powerful a force for the farmer to handle, so he capitulates to the hens’ demands. Here’s a key excerpt:
Henrietta (the hen): Farmer Brown, we have something to say. This is what we chickens want:
1. More and better food. No mold, no sand in our corn.
2. Freedom to walk around outside and a bigger hen house.
3. Each hen will lay an average of four eggs a week.
4. Stop punishing us. Let Hortensia come back.
Farmer: No way! Who ever heard of chickens telling the farmer what to do? Shut up and get back to the henhouse!
Chickens: No, Farmer Brown, not this time! And besides those things, you have to recognize our union, Hens United, or we’ll all stop laying eggs!
Farmer: OK, OK, if I have no eggs to sell, I’ll go bankrupt. We’d all starve, so I guess I’ll have to do what you say. Since you’re all together, what can I do?
Chickens: We won! We stuck together and we won! Si, Se puede.*
With this puppet show, educators now have a way of teaching children how to use mob tactics to get what they want from those in positions of power. This puppet show fits very nicely into a kindergartener’s school day – right after finger painting and just ahead of snack time.
Lest readers are tempted to dismiss this as some wacky lesson plan that never sees the light of day in an actual classroom, consider this story about the 2009 California Federation of Teachers convention, as reported in the May 2009 newsletter of the San Mateo Community College Federation of Teachers:
“…Bill Morgan uses a short puppet show, Trouble in the Hen House, to teach about the strength and value of organizing unions. His students act out a story about hens who organize a union to fight against unfair compensation and poor working conditions. Through this activity, the students learn about becoming activists, organizers, negotiators and problem solvers.”
Just to remind you, the “students” the newsletter is referring to are kindergartners and first graders.
With labor activists starting to propagandize students in kindergarten, they’ll already be brainwashed by the time they learn to actually think critically. Vladamir Lenin is quoted as saying, “Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.”
The scary thing for America’s future is that this is happening this early in children’s lives and little if anything is being done about it.
*Note: “Si, Se puede” is Spanish for “Yes, it is possible,” but is sometimes translated as “Yes, we can.” Where have I heard that before…?

Another black mob attack recently hit Chicago’s Michigan Avenue.
Tuesday, June 21, 2011, an estimated 50 teens, described by one source as an African-American mob, robbed the Walgreens at 757 North Michigan Avenue.
According to CBS Chicago, the mob stole bottled drinks and sandwiches.
During a recent press conference regarding the “wildings” on Michigan Avenue, Police Supt. Garry McCarthy said, “I don’t believe that it’s going to be something that we need to worry about long-term. We have to knock this out. We have to knock it out quickly – and that’s what we’re doing.”
Yeah. Good luck with that.

This week the Seattle PDC Commissioners fined the radical leftist group for multiple campaign finance violations.
Stefan Sharkansky at Sound Politics reported:
The PDC Commissioners today accepted “OneAmerica Votes” (OAV)’s stipulation to all alleged violations under my complaint. OAV, affiliated with illegal immigration advocates “OneAmerica”, illegally raised $156,000 and spent $112,000 on state and federal campaigns last year (exclusively for Democrats and liberal initiative positions) without registering or reporting its finances to the PDC. Much of its funding came, apparently illegally, from OneAmerica and the Tides Center, both claiming 501(c)(3) tax-exemptions.
The Commissioners accepted OAV’s preposterous excuse that it relied in good faith on bad advice that it was not obligated to report. Incredible. Two of OAV’s directors are practicing attorneys, yet the group claimed reliance on unverified advice from one individual (Richard Yang) who wasn’t qualified to dispense such advice. (More here)

This fellow is obviously vying for the dimmest bulb in the box award when he opines thusly on The Glorious South:
Why is Boeing, one of our few real global champions in beefing up exports, moving work on the Dreamliner from a high-skill work force ($28 an hour on average) to a much lower-wage work force ($14 an hour starting wage)? Nothing could be a bigger threat to the economic security of this country.
We should be aghast that Boeing is sending a big fat market signal that it wants a less-skilled, lower-quality work force. . . .
We depend on Boeing to out-compete Airbus, its European rival. But when major firms move South, it is usually a harbinger of quality decline.
Airbus? After your awkward swat at your betters, is Airbus the best you can do? Surely an such elitist, with the superior intellect, no doubt can do better than that. Let’s jump the fence and go sit in the blue lights, shall we? We’ll watch the planes land at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International (that means the flights connect to Biloxi and beyond) Airport (the world’s busiest airport, by the way, since 1999, a full one hundred and thirty-four years after The War of Northern Aggression) and watch the planes land. Well, we know they have already started the “America is not ready for another Texas governor as president” baloney and Crazy Legs over at MSNBS is, well, I do not think even he knows what he is trying to say, oh, wait, he is saying that Perry’s hands are not Conservative or something. Matthews really ought to stop sniffing glue before his shows, but, back to the point. The point is how afraid are the Democrats of Rick Perry? Apparently afraid enough to go Homophobic on him
My reaction on Twitter last night was brief and blunt. It is astounding that they’d do this and I’d rather ignore it altogether, but now the desperate and ridiculous gay smear against Rick Perry has been promoted at both Politico and New York magazine.
Isn’t it interesting how so many high-minded journalists who sneered at the Anthony Weiner scandal as an absurd “distraction” from the real issues – an attitude that just coincidentally reprised Weiner’s original defense against accusations that later proved entirely true — are now willing to lend credence to mere rumors which are not only unsubstantiated but also highly implausible? There isn’t any reason at all to believe this smear, so why was it necessary to recycle it?
The democrats smell blood in the water don’t they? Gut it is their own blood, and they will, indeed let us know which candidates they fear the most.

ATLANTA (AP) — Eighteen-year-old Dulce Guerrero kept quiet about being an illegal immigrant until earlier this year, when she became upset after a traffic stop that landed her mother in jail for two nights.
The arrest came as Georgia lawmakers were crafting what would become one of the nation’s toughest immigration crackdowns, and Guerrero feared her mother would be deported.
“I feel like that was my breaking point, when my mom was in jail,” said Guerrero, who came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 2. “I felt like, well, that’s it, it can’t get any worse than this. My mother has been to jail.”
Guerrero first publicly announced her immigration status at a protest in March, and now she’s organizing a rally under the tutelage of more experienced activists who are themselves only a few years older.
The high-stakes movement of young illegal immigrants declaring that they’re “undocumented and unafraid” got a boost this week when a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist revealed he’s been living in the country illegally.
In other words, how DARE America have immigration laws, and how dare they even attempt to enforce those laws. No, how dare YOU, an illegal immigrant, break our laws then think you can spit in our face to boot!

A Republican campaign veteran tells us that Texas Governor Rick Perry has decided to run for President, though the official word from Team Perry is still a definite maybe.
Our normally reliable Republican source reports that Mr. Perry has surveyed the field and decided to get in the race later this summer, perhaps around the time of the national prayer meeting that Mr. Perry is hosting on August 6 at a Houston football stadium.
Our source also reports that Mr. Perry is aiming to compete in the Iowa Straw Poll, even though it occurs just a week later, on August 13. The thinking is that apparent front-runner Mitt Romney “does not reflect the Republican Party” and is therefore vulnerable to a credible challenge from the right, especially after Mr. Romney’s recent squishy remarks on global warming.
Beyond simply the August 13 event in Ames, Iowa, a big question for Mr. Perry is whether a compressed schedule would allow him to attract enough money and primary voters to win the nomination. Perry campaign adviser David Carney says that question still hasn’t been answered, and even a positive verdict doesn’t necessarily mean the Texan would enter the race. “Then he’s got to saddle up and do a gut check” to determine if he’s ready for the rigors of a presidential run, says Mr. Carney.
Pressed on whether these decisions have already been made, Mr. Carney adds, “We don’t have to cloak our intentions, because we don’t know what our intentions are.”

Handy Henry Wood, a 25-year-old Duncannon man was jailed after he allegedly exposed himself to a female McDonald’s employee in a drive-thru, and also flashed a woman in a nearby parking lot.
According to Pennsylvania state police, on May 17th, Wood flashed an employee at the McDonald’s in Howne Township as he was pulling through the drive-thru.

Investigators say Wood exposed himself again on May 29th when he parked next to a woman at the Giant/Rite Aid shopping center near the same McDonalds.
Police were also summoned on June 7th when a reported seeing a man drive past her in a minivan with his pants pulled down to his knees. She stated that the man drove past her while staring at her and nodding.
Wood was booked into jail and charged with two separate counts of indecent exposure.

The IRS has stripped the embattled Council on American-Islamic Relations of its tax-exempt status after the nation’s most prominent Muslim group withheld donor records from the government.
The move by the federal agency follows an expose published by WND Books that revealed these and other violations by CAIR and triggered a federal investigation and audit.
As WND first reported in January 2010, CAIR’s national office has failed to file financial records since 2007 as required by federal law. Registered as a 501(c)(3) organization, the group must detail its revenues and expenses to the IRS in annual reports known as form 990s to maintain its tax-exempt status.
Under a new federal law, effective starting for tax years ending on or after Dec. 31, 2007, if an organization fails to file either Form 990-N, Form 990 or Form 990 EZ for three consecutive years, its tax-exempt status will automatically be revoked.
As a result, the IRS earlier this month purged CAIR from its list of tax-exempt organizations. Donations to the group are no longer tax-deductible, even though CAIR continues to claim on its website that contributions are deductible.
The gross delinquency raises new suspicions that CAIR – identified in a recent terror-finance case as a front group for Hamas – is concealing from the American public details about its already shadowy financial activities.
CAIR is a regular staple of the cable news programs where it claims to be a “Muslim-American civil rights group.”
The Washington-based group receives millions of dollars in donations, pledges and other support from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other terror-tied Arab states, as revealed in the bestseller “Muslim Mafia: Inside the Secret Underworld That’s Conspiring to Islamize America.”
As WND has reported, CAIR has filed a lawsuit against "Muslim Mafia" co-author P. David Gaubatz and his son, Chris, who collected thousands of pages of CAIR documents destined for a shredder while working as an intern.
CAIR's complaint asks a federal judge to expunge all copies of “Muslim Mafia“. A lawyer defending the Gaubatzes says CAIR is attempting to eliminate evidence that could lead to criminal prosecution.
Joseph Farah, editor and chief executive officer of WND and founder of WND Books, which published “Muslim Mafia,” says “CAIR continues to think rules don’t apply to them.”
“CAIR filed suit against one of our authors without its attorneys noticing it was not even a valid corporation,” he said. “The reason CAIR can afford to play fast and loose with the facts and the law is because of the way the media provide this terrorist front operation with open access to spew its lies and propaganda without accountability and by falsely billing CAIR as a ‘Muslim civil rights group.’ We’ll see how many of their media friends bother to report that CAIR is still collecting tax-exempt donations despite losing its tax-exempt status.”
The FBI has subpoenaed all the internal CAIR documents obtained by the authors of “Muslim Mafia.”
FUNDING DRIES UP
CAIR’s grass-roots fundraising from Muslims in America has all but dried up in the wake of allegations the group is fronting for terrorists. CAIR must also report revenue from membership dues in its annual financial statements to the IRS.
“CAIR maintains an army of lawyers. There’s no excuse for not filing three consecutive years of 990s. What’s CAIR hiding?” asked terror analyst Paul Sperry, co-author of “Muslim Mafia.”
Both CAIR and its outside auditor, Joey Musmar, declined comment.
Most of CAIR’s 30 chapters have filed their 2007 returns, and many have filed their 2008 and 2009 tax forms. It’s not clear why CAIR National has repeatedly failed to turn over its own financial records to the IRS.
CAIR in 2007 was named an unindicted co-conspirator in a criminal scheme to funnel millions of dollars to Hamas suicide bombers and their families, prompting the FBI to cut off all outreach to the group.
“We do not have a relationship with CAIR. There are individuals in CAIR with whom we had issues with and continue to have issues with,” FBI Director Robert Mueller testified earlier this year, specifically citing “concerns with regard to the national leadership.”
His assistant, Richard Powers, earlier identified the individuals as “executives” currently working inside CAIR’s national office in Washington, and the “issues” as the “connection” between the executives and the Hamas terrorist group. CAIR’s current executive director is Nihad Awad. Powers confirmed the group and its leaders remain under FBI scrutiny.
CAIR has 15 months to seek reinstatement of its tax-exempt status. To do so, it must file the missing three annual 990 reports, along with a new application for exempt status. It also must explain the delay in filing the records. To waive separate IRS penalties, tax attorneys say, CAIR’s national office must prove that “reasonable cause” and not “willful neglect” was behind its lengthy delay in filing.
Following the publication of “Muslim Mafia” in October 2009, several members of Congress asked the IRS to audit CAIR, citing evidence reported in the book.
“It has come to our attention that the Council on American-Islamic Relations may be in violation of both the anti-excessive lobbying provision of its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and of the Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 by their failure to register with Congress as a federal lobbying organization,” wrote Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., and Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., John Shadegg, R-Ariz., Paul Broun, R-Ga., Trent Franks, R-Ariz., and Patrick McHenry, R-N.C. in a letter to IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman.
The lawmakers cited an internal CAIR memo uncovered by “Muslim Mafia,” which shows that in 2005, when Congress met for fewer than 150 days, CAIR by its own admission came to Capitol Hill no fewer than 72 separate occasions to lobby members of Congress to repeal the USA Patriot Act, which was passed overwhelming by Congress after 9/11 to help law enforcement crack down on Islamic terrorists.
“In other words,” the lawmakers’ pointed out in their letter, “half the days Congress was in session that year, CAIR was on the Hill lobbying against this piece of legislation.”
According to “Muslim Mafia,” CAIR is operating in the red as membership dues have plummeted to less than 1 percent of total revenues.
The group’s national office reported revenues of more than $2.7 million in 2006, the latest IRS records available. Of that total, just $41,000 came from membership dues. In 2004, by comparison, dues totaled $119,000.
The bulk of the group’s revenues comes from foreign donors, mainly in the Middle East.
Fundraising dinner donations have also fallen. And in 2006, CAIR reported an overall budget deficit of $161,000, after running a surplus of more than $338,000 in 2004.
‘FRONT GROUP’ FOR HAMAS
Recent terror charges have taken an additional toll on CAIR’s membership and fundraising.
Citing new evidence emerging from a 2007 federal terror trial in which CAIR and its founding chairman were named as unindicted co-conspirators, the FBI cut formal outreach ties to CAIR’s headquarters and all its branch offices.
The Obama administration has not lifted the ban on the organization, which was founded in 1994.
FBI agent Lara Burns testified at the Holy Land Foundation trial in Texas that CAIR is a “front group” for the Hamas terrorist organization, which has killed hundreds of Israeli civilians along with at least 17 Americans.
The Justice Department also listed CAIR as a member of the radical Muslim Brotherhood in America – parent of Hamas and al-Qaida, and the subject of the blockbuster “Muslim Mafia.”
A federal judge denied CAIR’s request to remove its criminal co-conspirator designation in the Holy Land case. In an appellate decision, a three-judge panel admonished the Justice Department for making the designation public, but did not order it expunged.
According to a June 2009 ACLU report, “Blocking Faith, Freezing Charity: Chilling Muslim Charitable Giving in the ‘War on Terrorism Financing,” CAIR’s Dallas-Fort Worth chapter, for one, has suffered a precipitous drop in contributions since the government’s blacklisting of CAIR as an unindicted co-conspirator.
The ACLU reports the chapter president, Moufa Nahhas, saying the following:
“Contributions to CAIR have gone down, so we can hire fewer people, can run fewer activities. People are afraid to come to events. Mosques are also hesitant to open the doors to us, to the organization. In Richardson (Texas, the headquarters of the Holy Land Foundation), the mosque doesn’t even want the administration of CAIR to come and pray there, because of fear…
“People don’t want to serve on the board. They say they support us and want to help, but they don’t want to be named as a member of the board. People don’t want a letter or newsletter from CAIR coming to their house they don’t want their name on the mailings.”
CAIR’s national office is also struggling financially. In fact, it has had to rent out one of the floors of its headquarters building, located within three blocks of the U.S. Capitol, to an outside tenant, according to “Muslim Mafia.”
“There’s no way to soften this: We need financial help,” pleaded CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad in an appeal for money posted on the group’s website in November 2009 after it s annual fundraising dinner fell short of its goals for donations.
“Now is the time to send in a generous donation, become a CAIR member or renew your membership,” CAIR said in an “Action” item sent to Muslims before its October fundraiser, which was held just a week after a congressional press conference announcing an investigation into CAIR’s lobbying activities based on the findings in “Muslim Mafia.”
Insiders say the negative publicity has scared away some of CAIR’s regular donors, including the UAE Embassy – which along with several other Muslim embassies, disappeared from the list of supporters at CAIR’s 2009 fundraising banquet in Washington.
“How is CAIR funded?” asked former Pentagon official Frank Gaffney, now president of the Center for Security Policy in Washington. “The Departments of Justice and Treasury know that CAIR has received foreign contributions in the thousands and even millions, since Steve Emerson, Paul Sperry, Joe Kaufman, Andrew Whitehead, the Department of Justice prosecutors, the mainstream U.S. and Arabic press and others have publicized those foreign donations and pledges for over a decade.
“At their website, CAIR encourages foreign embassies to purchase tables at their fundraisers,” he added. “Even this foreign support has declined as CAIR’s power has faded.”
Political support for CAIR even among liberal Democrats also is waning. Between 2006 and 2009, members of Congress attending CAIR’s annual fundraiser fell from 23 to four.
And more and more Muslim-Americans are distancing themselves from the group.
According to CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper, “CAIR has some 50,000 members,” when in fact the organization has precisely 5,133 members – or a tenth of the figure Hooper claims– according to “Muslim Mafia,” which cites an internal CAIR report prepared for a June 2007 executive staff meeting.
FOREIGN SUPPORT
“Muslim Mafia” also presents evidence that Hooper has misled Washington reporters about the source of most of CAIR’s financial support.
Hooper has repeatedly denied that CAIR receives foreign support, insisting it’s a “grass-roots” nonprofit organization. In CAIR press releases, he has stated, unequivocally: “We do not support directly or indirectly or receive support from any overseas group or government.”
In a private conversation with undercover researcher Chris Gaubatz, who was posing at the time as a CAIR intern, Hooper boasted that he personally can “bring (in) a half million of overseas money” a year, adding: “If some guy’s got a lot of extra money in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), I don’t mind taking it.”
Hooper made the remarks Aug. 30, 2008, during the Islamic Society of North America’s 2008 annual convention in Columbus, Ohio.
A State Department cable citing Hooper by name, moreover, directly contradicts Hooper’s denials about foreign support, according to “Muslim Mafia,” which exposes the secret inner workings of CAIR, among other radical Muslim Brotherhood front groups in America.
The sensitive but unclassified communique was written by U.S. Embassy staff in Saudi Arabia, who in June 2006 reported the following after meeting with a CAIR delegation: “One admitted reason for the group’s current visit to the KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) was to solicit $50 million in governmental and non-governmental contributions.”
“(Saudi) King Abdullah knows CAIR very well,” the cable added.
Among other things, CAIR said the money would be used to “counter negative stereotypes about Muslims in the U.S.” media, a phenomenon described by CAIR as “Islamophobia.”
The core delegation, according to the cable, consisted of Hooper, CAIR chief Awad and then-CAIR Chairman Parvez Ahmed. Besides Riyadh, the trio also visited Mecca and Jeddah.
Just three months after the trip, Hooper denied soliciting Saudi government funds.
“To my knowledge, we don’t take money from the government of Saudi Arabia,” he said in a September 2006 appearance on MSNBC’s Tucker Carlson show.
CAIR in January 2007 prepared a secret “strategy” memo launching what the “Muslim Mafia” authors call a hostile influence operation against Congress to undermine homeland security and anti-terror efforts.
The memo states that CAIR would try to “influence” the intelligence committees, along with committees dealing with homeland security and justice, while placing interns in “congressional offices.”
CAIR has been successful in both endeavors, using Mideast funds free of taxation in the process.

In a front page story about a major FBI terrorism investigation, The Washington Post has reported that the targets include “Chicagoans who crossed paths with Obama when he was a young state senator and some who have been active in labor unions that supported his political rise.” The implication is that the trail could lead to the White House.
This is an unusual investigation that does not primarily involve Islamists. Instead, it is focused on elements of the old international communist networks that many people mistakenly thought had faded away with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Those under investigation are suspected of providing support to foreign terrorist organizations such as the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the Middle East, a Marxist group. The Post called them “Colombian and Palestinian groups designated by the U.S. government as terrorists.”
The investigations came into public view last September when the FBI raided the homes of several “activists,” as the Post called them. Some lived in Chicago.
One of the targets, Tom Burke, was a union organizer for the Service Employees International Union (SEIU). He was so confident he would get a fair shake from the Post that he provided the paper with a photo of himself shaking hands with Barack Obama. The other apparent intention was to send a message to the President and Attorney General Eric Holder that any investigation of Burke might lead to Obama.
The Post suggested that investigations of labor union activists might jeopardize their support for Obama’s 2012 presidential run. Indeed, it could therefore threaten his re-election bid, if investigations determine that the activists did more than “cross paths” with the President.
Deep inside the article, in the 29th paragraph, we find out that some of the “activists” are associated with a group known as the Freedom Road Socialist Organization (FRSO), a Marxist-Leninist organization. Burke is a member of the FRSO, which the Post admitted was “far left.”
The obvious question is why Obama, as a state senator in Illinois, would ever have “crossed paths” with such people. The answer goes beyond just union support for the candidate. The “far-left” networks that include the FRSO, the Communist Party USA, the New American Movement, and the Democratic Socialists of America backed and even spawned Obama’s political career. Don’t forget that Weather Underground leaders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn hosted a fundraiser for his first run for political office. The same networks also backed CIA Director Leon Panetta’s career when he was a congressman from Santa Cruz, California. This helps explain why Obama would pick Panetta, with no intelligence background, to run the intelligence agency. They are cut from the same cloth.
Nevertheless, on Tuesday, the Senate voted 100-0 in favor of Panetta’s nomination as Secretary of Defense. It was a classic case of “head in the sand” politics, ignoring not only Panetta’s long-time relationship with Communist Party member Hugh DeLacy but his record as a congressman in undercutting then-President Reagan’s pro-defense policies at every turn.
Obama and Panetta were players in the “progressive” community, which since the days of Henry Wallace, presidential candidate of the Progressive Party, has had a red tint. Obama had his own communist mentor, Frank Marshall Davis, a Communist Party member under FBI investigation for 19 years, while Panetta gave DeLacy, who had traveled to China to meet with Soviet and Chinese intelligence agents, sensitive reports on U.S. military matters. Any notion that Panetta had no awareness of DeLacy’s Communist affiliation was obliterated when Panetta in 1983 inserted a tribute to DeLacy into the Congressional Record, praising his resistance to “McCarthyism.”
Former FBI agent Max Noel once told me that the Bureau used to investigate candidates for federal employment by analyzing Character, Associates, Reputation, and Loyalty to the United States. The first letters in those words make up the acronym CARL. By the standard of “A”—Associates—Panetta flunks. But so does Obama.
Another sensitive case involves Huma Abedin, a top aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and wife of disgraced Rep. Anthony Weiner. Walid Shoebat and Ben Barrack have reported that Arab newspapers have revealed that Huma Abedin’s mother is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, a group whose goal is to subvert Western civilization. Jamie Glazov of Front Page Magazine asks Robert Spencer, “There is a remote possibility that Abedin is actually being deceptive in her marriage to Weiner to follow Muslim Brotherhood instructions and to infiltrate the U.S. government, correct?” Spencer replies, “Certainly. That is a very real possibility, and it should be investigated. But the only ones who have the means to do so are mainstream media journalists who are either clueless or complicit.”
It may also be the case that the FBI never investigated Abedin’s background.
As the FBI does not vet presidential candidates for national security purposes, we know there would have been no FBI investigation into Obama’s own background, associations, loyalty, and overall fitness for office. The FBI only probes those being considered for some federal positions under the president. They should have therefore investigated Panetta. But there is no indication that he was ever properly vetted. Now he is confirmed as Secretary of Defense because conservative Republican Senators were apparently afraid of being accused of McCarthyism for questioning his past associations.
On the other hand, the “progressives” are raising hell with Obama and want him to rein in the FBI. They want to further emasculate the agency charged with ferretting out subversives and terrorist support networks.
As the Post noted, “nine members of Congress have written letters to the administration” complaining about the FBI probe of Burke and other activists. The Post even noted that another one of the targets of the investigation, a union organizer named Tracy Molm, managed to arrange a meeting with Holder himself.
One of these congressional members is Muslim Rep. Keith Ellison, the foremost critic of Rep. Peter King’s hearings into radical Islam in America. “Shortly after the raids,” Ellison said, “I made inquiries to the FBI field office for more information. FBI Special Agent Boelter confirmed that an investigation was ongoing. He informed me that due to the pending nature of the investigation, he was prohibited from sharing any further information. However he gave me assurance that the purpose of the searches and service of subpoenas was not to punish or to suppress protected First Amendment activity.”
Pro-Marxist activist Medea Benjamin has said she managed to have a few words with Holder as well to complain about the probes. She is with the Code Pink group that travels to Gaza to meet with the terrorist group Hamas. She is also a staunch ally of Adam Kokesh, the “Russia Today” TV star who openly admits that he functions as a paid Russian agent of the Vladimir Putin regime.
Holder is receptive to this kind of appeal because of his friendship with Obama and record as Deputy Attorney General in the Clinton Administration for facilitating pardons and clemency for terrorists from the Puerto Rican FALN and Weather Underground. It is this record that puts the current investigations by the FBI in serious jeopardy.
The Post article has to be seen as a signal to Holder from those around Obama that he must act quickly to close down these investigations before they get too close for comfort to the Oval Office. First, however, he has to make sure that the congressional investigations don’t get too close to Holder himself. It won’t look good for the Attorney General to be personally implicated in knowledge of the federal gunrunning schemes now under Congressional investigation that provided weapons to Mexican narco-terrorist cartels. The evidence already shows that federal authorities let guns fall into the hands of known criminals.
