Boehner to Obamna: Not so fast there buddy!
Speaker of the House John Boehner has requested that President Obama delay his September 7 speech before a joint session of Congress, which the president plans to use to unveil his new jobs plan, by one day.
The time that the president requested for the joint session, announced Wednesday, would have directly conflicted with a long-scheduled debate between GOP presidential contenders at the Reagan Library in California. In his letter, Boehner did not mention the debate but instead cited the time-crunch that would result from a September 7 joint session.

The hits keep on coming – Barack Obama’s gleaming example of green technology – Solyndra – filed for bankruptcy today. The Obama Administration gave the solar startup $535 million in federal promises from the Department of Energy.
Obama visited the plant in 2010 and said the factory is just a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism.

President Obama faces political catastrophe in the form of Solyndra — a San Francisco Bay area solar company that he touted as a gleaming example of green technology. It has announced it will declare Chapter 11 bankruptcy. More than 1,100 people will lose their jobs.
During a visit to the Fremont facility in spring of 2010, the President said the factory “is just a testament to American ingenuity and dynamism and the fact that we continue to have the best universities in the world, the best technology in the world, and most importantly the best workers in the world. ”
It’s not his statements the administration will regret; it’s the loan guarantees. The President was celebrating $535 million in federal promises from the Department of Energy to the solar startup. The administration didn’t do its due diligence, says the Government Accountability Office. “There’s a consequence if you don’t follow a rigorous process that’s transparent,” Franklin Rusco of GAO told the website iWatch News.
The President touted the federally back money as a way to create jobs. The President’s opponents immediately jumped on the deal as Solyndra made its first layoffs.
Another Obama disaster. At least this one only cost us $535 million.

Dell Hill from Uncoverage.net called today to tell me that the blog’s founder, Jane Jamison, died Saturday. Dell told me — I hadn’t previously known — that her name wasn’t actually Jane Jamison, but that this was a pseudonym she used to keep her life as a political commentator separate from the liberal world in which she might actually need to apply for a job.
She lived in the San Francisco Bay area, and was regular a radio guest on Jaz McKay’s popular afternoon program on KNZR 1560 AM in Bakersfield. She once got me onto Jaz’s show as a guest, which was pretty cool. Jane was also a contributor at Right Wing News, where John Hawkins has a brief remembrance.
Dell explained to me something else I hadn’t realized, that he became a blogger at Uncoverage.net after reaching Jane’s site through a link here. He said he noticed she seemed very busy, putting up lots of posts every day, and offered to contribute. She accepted his offer and now, it appears, Dell will keep Uncoverage.net going online after Jane’s death.
Ironically, Dell never actually met Jane in person. He lives in the Northeast, while she lived in California. I met Jane when she attended

“At a protest sing-along against Governor Scott Walker at the Wisconsin Capitol on Friday, a member of the Red & Anarchist Action Network (RAAN) held up a huge banner saying “Class War” and then delivered a message to someone filming the event: “All you f**king Tea Party Baggers, It’s coming, get ready.”
So what is the solution, I certainly do not want to “take it to the streets” but self-defense IS a fundamental right and perhaps a deterrent could prevent any violence
Lets get to work organizing the Tea Party Protest Patriot Guard… Someone with a bigger readership than mine, needs to organize a war party, if it’s war they want I’m good with it…

Again, I see it like this. The Left will be looking to start something, either for intimidation purposes, or to create the image of “the violent tea Party” for the media, which would run with that story. So, what to do? Any thoughts?

White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer announced on Twitter Wednesday that President Obama has called for a joint session of Congress Sept. 7 so he can make his useless jobs speech to lawmakers and the nation.

That schedule would put Obama’s address in direct conflict with the first of three Republican presidential debates scheduled for September.
The debate is highly anticipated as it will be the first where new frontrunner Rick Perry goes head-to-head with his rivals for the Republican nomination. The debate is hosted by NBC News and Politico and is set to be broadcast live from the Reagan Library in California.
HIV/AIDS Group Charged With Diverting $330,000 In Federal Tax Dollars To Strip Club
D.C. Attorney General Irvin Nathan has accused a District HIV/AIDS service provider of spending nearly $330,000 in federal tax dollars to open a strip club.

In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, Nathan said Miracle Hands Inc. promised the city it was using the cash to renovate a warehouse in Northeast for use as a job training center for residents with HIV/AIDS. Instead, the warehouse was turned into the Stadium Club, a strip club that continues to operate, the suit says. Miracle Hands shares an address with the club, according to the company’s website. Nathan asked in the suit that the city be awarded at least $988,959 in damages.
D.C. Councilman David Catania requested in a February letter to Nathan that the attorney general open an investigation into Miracle Hands and its relationship with Stadium Club.
“I am pleased that the attorney general has decided to take action regarding this egregious impropriety,” Catania said Tuesday.
Attempts to reach Miracle Hands owner Cornell Jones were not successful. Jones is a self-described former D.C. drug kingpin with convictions for narcotics distribution on his record.
In 2009, federal authorities told the Washington Post they had started an investigation into how the money was spent. On Tuesday, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office declined to comment on the status of the investigation.
The grants for the renovations to the warehouse at 2127 Queens Chapel Road NE, were first given to Miracle Hands in 2006 by the District’s HIV/AIDS administration. Earlier this month, an inspector general’s audit of the administration found that during the four-year tenure of the agency’s former director, Debra Rowe, little attention was paid to how dollars were spent by service providers, even as the city’s HIV/AIDS rate reached epidemic levels.
When Rowe was fired in 2008, she went to work for Miracle Hands as its executive director. She could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
In November 2006, nearly one year after Miracle Hands first won its grant to renovate the Queens Chapel Road warehouse, a city grant monitor visited the site and found little work had been done toward meeting a March 2007 deadline, the lawsuit said.
The monitor advised Rowe that Miracle Hands’ funding should be cut. But Rowe, called a “close friend of Jones” in the lawsuit, reportedly said the project was on pace and kept the funding in place. By then, though, Jones had already transferred a liquor license from a strip club he owned in Southeast to the Miracle Hands warehouse in Northeast, the suit said.
In March 2007, “the renovation work… was at best, many months from completion,” the lawsuit said. In April 2007, HIV/AIDS administration gave Miracle Hands an additional $139,000 to continue the renovations, adding another year to the nonprofit’s deadline.
In the middle of that year, Miracle Hands informed the administration that it had decided to open the job training center at a different warehouse and it would be applying the funds to that project, the suit said. A job center never opened at either location. Stadium Club opened in early 2010.

Israeli security forces use a system of profiling passengers in order to protect air travel. They don’t conduct these silly random searches we see almost daily in America. The Israeli security guards know the type of person who is most likely to carry out a terrorist attack; they don’t need to pat down 95-year-old grandmothers.
Likewise, when the protests turned ugly outside of the Milwaukee Catholic school where Gov. Scott Walker was appearing last Friday, I instinctively knew that the worst offenders would be teacher union leaders.

Why? Because a nasty, belligerent attitude has become a requirement for a leadership post in most teachers unions. Sure, union leaders publicly talk about the need for civility and open-mindedness, but in their unscripted moments they spew vitriol, intimidation and hatred.
In yesterday’s article, I wrote about a video that was taken of the Walker protestors who lined the sidewalk outside the school. The video captures one of the thugs verbally intimidating a female school employee, telling her, “We don’t want you in our neighborhood. Go back to there you came from.”

I ended that article by asking for tips to identify that individual who should have a civil rights complaint filed against him. I received several tips, and the offender has been identified as Brian Rothgery. Not only is Rothgery a former co-president of American Federation of Teachers Local 2169 (the Milwaukee Graduate Assistants Association), but prior to that he was a – wait for it… wait for it – an SEIU organizer!

The connection that sealed the deal is a picture from a “Bitch Magazine” benefit he attended at Woodland Pattern.
Rothgery is currently serving as the “communications coordinator” for Wisconsin Citizen Action – the group that was accused of giving people free chicken dinners in exchange for voting for Democrats in the recent recall elections.
Rothgery recently spoke at the leftist “Democracy Convention” in which his background calls him an “expert in persuasive communication.” If “persuasive” has come to mean “venomous,” then he really is an expert, as the MacIver News Service video proves.
Rothgery’s name is also found on a lawsuit to reopen the Capitol complex after police closed it to the smelly, obnoxious protesters in February.
This is the face of modern progressivism, especially in hot houses like Wisconsin. But we must be on guard. As these venomous progressives continue to suffer defeat after defeat, it’s very possible their protests will become violent.

A green jobs program in one of America’s greenest cities is being called a bust 16 months after a $20 million federal grant to weatherize homes in Seattle ended up putting just 14 people to work in mostly administrative jobs and upgrading only three homes in the area.
“The jobs are not there,” Todd Myers, who wrote the book “Eco Fads,” told Fox News. “So we’re training people for jobs that don’t exist.”
Seattle is not alone. The Department of Energy has allocated $508 million to 41 states for its Better Buildings Neighborhood Program and 600 jobs have been created or retained.
“While communities are advancing their programs at different rates, we are pleased with the progress,” the agency wrote in a recent statement.
One year into the three-year program, 9,000 homes have had energy audits and received some kind of upgrade. The goal is to weatherize 150,000 homes by 2013 and save consumers $65 million annually on energy bills.
Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn says it’s too early to declare the program a failure.
“We may have to adjust how we market it and the incentives we provide,” McGinn said. “Nobody has really cracked the green jobs code.”
Contractors who do the energy audits and home retrofits blame government for getting in the way. To be a participating business in Seattle, the contractor is required to pay workers $21 an hour with full benefits, including retirement pay. But according to several small business owners in the area, the prevailing wage for new workers who lay insulation is $12. per hour.
McGinn, however, insisted that allowing contractors to pay anything less than what the city has declared a ‘living wage’, amounts to a ‘race to the bottom’ for jobs.
“The workforce agreements that were negotiated with contractors at the table made sure that some benefits of this work is going to local workers, and we’re going to pay fair wages for it,” he said.
But Myers and others say the biggest problem with the program is government is trying to create a market that consumers don’t want. The average homeowner in the U.S. pays about $2,000 a year for energy.
The weatherization upgrades are aimed at saving 15 percent on energy consumption. If the retrofit costs $10,000 even with all the government incentives, it will take over 30 years to pay off through lower energy bills.
“The problem is the policies the politicians choose, whether green jobs or retrofits, are based on appearance,” Myers said. “They choose things that look good, rather than what’s best for the environment.”
Among the other cities having trouble fulfilling the green jobs promise are Toledo, Kansas City and Phoenix. So far, those cities have created a combined 72 jobs with $65 million in grants.
The difficulty is magnified on the federal level. President Obama once said he wanted to create 5 million green jobs over 10 years. The 2009 stimulus package included $5 billion toward that goal.
A chunk of that money went for weatherization programs, but according to a Department of Energy inspector general report one year later, “only two of the 10 highest-funded recipients completed more than 2 percent of planned units.”

A Key West woman is facing charges after she was arrested twice in three days in separate naked, drug-fueled romps on public streets, according to police.

Alena Larrazabal, 32, was hospitalized after she was found stark naked crawling down a busy Stock Island street Monday afternoon by a couple of deputies, according to a Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrest report.
Police say an incoherent Larrazabal was meandering on her hands and knees as cars swerved to avoid hitting her. At one point, she rolled on to her back and spread her legs before continuing her crawl, the report said.
As the deputies tried to get Larrazabal out of harm’s way, she began to fight with them. With the help of some paramedics, they were able to get her strapped down to a stretcher, and she was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
When she became more coherent, Larrazabal told the deputies she’d been on a weekend-long cocaine binge, the report said. Larrazabal is facing charges of disturbing the peace and criminal mischief, the report said.
Two days before her Stock Island arrest, Larrazabal was arrested in Key West in a similar incident, according to a Key West Police report.
Police say they were responding to calls of a nude woman causing a disturbance in a restaurant parking lot shortly after 7 a.m. when they came across Larrazabal, identified that day as Alena Larrazabal Capiro, according to the report.
Police say a naked Larrazabal struggled with deputies who were trying to take her into custody, kicking and spitting at them until she was finally put into the back of a patrol car, the report said.
The officers found a bag with Larrazabal’s clothing and purse, and say they found a plastic baggie with a small amount of marijuana, the report said.
When they questioned her, Larrazabal told the officers she’d been “smoking crack all night,” the report said.
Larrazabal was released into the care of the Lower Keys Medical Center staff.

A group of European scientists say new research shows that the sun is the primary driver of climate change, not man-made activities.

The research, conducted by scientists at Geneva-based CERN, one of the world’s leading physics labs, and published in Nature magazine this week, stems from the construction of a chamber, called the CLOUD Project, which recreated the earth’s atmosphere, the Telegraph newspaper reported.
Scientists were able to demonstrate that cosmic rays can form molecules that then grow seed clouds inside the atmosphere.
“Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth,” the paper reported, summarizing the research.
Director General of CERN, Rolf-Dieter Heuer, downplayed the results, however, in an interview with German newspaper Die Welt.
“I have asked the colleagues to present the results clearly, but not to interpret them,” he said. “That would go immediately into the highly political arena of the climate change debate. One has to make clear that cosmic radiation is only one of many parameters.”
The CLOUD experiment builds upon earlier research conducted by Danish physicist Henrik Svensmark, who demonstrated that cosmic rays provide a seed for clouds, The Register reported.

Illegal aliens are the problem that dares not speak its name – at least not in the Beautiful People precincts. Could the Globe have possibly given this story a bigger leaving-alone? We weren’t the first to ID him as the president’s uncle, but I did mention the drunken-driving arrest of a guy named Obama in my Sunday Herald column. I’d heard about it Friday night on my radio show.

Liberals can’t even bear to hear the phrase “illegal alien.” I’ll give you an example. Yesterday, his family buried Matthew Denice, the 23-year-old American who was killed 10 days ago when a drunken illegal alien roofer from Ecuador allegedly ran him down and then backed over him in a pickup truck.
Milford’s state senator is Richard Moore, a moderate Democrat. At least moderate enough to write a letter after Denice’s death to Gov. Deval Patrick, asking him “to reconsider his position against a federal program that would prioritize the deportation of illegal immigrants with criminal pasts.”
That’s from a newspaper story posted on Sen. Moore’s Web site.
On Monday, Moore makes a motion to adjourn the Senate in memory of Matthew Denice, who – I’m quoting from Moore’s citation – “was hit by a pickup truck driven by an unlicensed driver who has subsequently been charged with numerous violations of law including operating under the influence, failing to yield at a stop sign, and leaving the scene after a fatality.”
Sen. Moore, what happened to the “illegal immigrants” and “deportation”?
Will Uncle Omar ever be deported? Of course not. Look what happened to his sister, Auntie Zeituni. Hell, she was on welfare when she was an illegal alien, before she even was granted asylum.
After he wins “asylum,” maybe Hollywood can give Uncle Omar his own reality show. They could call it “Everybody Loves Omar,” or “Curb Your Immigration.” Or “CSI: The Chicken Bone.”

A suspect in the killing of a Northern California city councilman had been tending opium poppy plants while living for months in the woods, authorities said, as they released additional details about the shooting.
Aaron Bassler, 35, the suspect in Fort Bragg, Calif., City Councilman Jere Melo’s death on Saturday, was the sole tender of about 100 opium poppies, Mendocino County sheriff’s officials told the Press Democrat of Santa Rosa on Monday.

Poppy growing is uncommon in the rugged area outside Fort Bragg where Melo was killed, though it has been the site of illegal marijuana farms in the past, Sheriff’s Capt. Kurt Smallcomb said.
Melo, a forest land manager, was with a friend looking for illegal marijuana farms when he was shot, authorities have said. Bassler remains at large.
Smallcomb told the Press Democrat that Melo was unarmed when he was shot several times in the torso by a high-caliber rifle. The shooter was on higher ground.

“He definitely never went out armed in all the years I knew him,” Smallcomb said of Melo, whom he had known for about 25 years. “He wasn’t looking to be violent toward anybody. He could talk his way out of anything if given the opportunity.”
Melo’s friend had a weapon and returned fire before escaping aboard a train on tracks a few hundred yards away, Smallcomb said. The tracks are used by a company that provides train tours of the surrounding redwood forest.
Authorities searched the forest on Monday for Bassler, who they say has a history of run-ins with the law.
Smallcomb said the search was slow because of the rugged terrain. He urged anyone who spotted Bassler not to approach him and contact authorities instead.
The New York Daily News adds:
On Sunday, police said they were using SWAT teams to hunt for Aaron Bassler, a local drifter with a history of run-ins with the law.
It wasn’t clear what kind of drugs Bassler was allegedly growing in the area. Some reports said it was marijuana, while others said it was opium poppy.
Turner said Bassler, who is in his 30s, “has had some skirmishes with police over the years,” including a collar earlier this year for crashing a truck into a school’s tennis courts.
In 2009, he was arrested for sparking bomb fears by ditching packages at the Chinese consulate in San Francisco, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The packages contained drawings of red stars and ramblings about alien armies and Chinese weapons, the paper reported.
