I was blessed to have a non-revisionist history teacher who shared with us the forgotten Southern history. The Confederate army was integrated 75 years before the Union, for instance. On my daughter’s homeschool book list is Up from Slavery by Booker T. Washington, which really paints a different picture than the state-approved textbooks. You can’t really find it in a library, but you can find lots of books about him in the library. See how it works?
