Now THAT is a good sheriff!
You just know this could only happen in the South! God bless us!
Sheriff Chuck Wright of Spartanburg County, South Carolina is one of those rare law enforcement individuals that gets it. He is telling the citizens of his county to get their concealed weapons permits and carry at all times. He made these remarks at a news conference after a woman was attacked in Milliken Park. Here’s the story ( Bold emphasis mine);
SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. — The Spartanburg County Sheriff is known for speaking his mind, and at a news conference on Monday, he didn’t hold back his anger and frustration after a woman was attacked in a park over the weekend.
Investigators said 46-year-old Walter Lance grabbed a woman who was walking her dog in Milliken Park on Sunday afternoon. They said Lance choked the woman, made her take off her clothing and tried to rape her. (Full Story)
Lance is in custody and was denied bond on Monday.
Sheriff Chuck Wright opened his news conference by saying, “Our form of justice is not making it,” and he said, “I’m really aggravated.”
He said, “Carry a concealed weapon. That’ll fix it.”
Wright said Lance had been charged numerous times with crimes again women, and other crimes such as resisting arrest and escape. Wright said Lance had been on probation for a federal gun charge.

A restaurant serving only caveman food? Lance Burri has to be involved
At first glance, Berlin’s Sauvage restaurant looks much like many of the German capital’s other trendy eateries.
But take a closer look at the chalkboard out front and you’ll discover they are embarking on a culinary shake-up that takes its inspiration from the Stone Age.
Proudly announcing a ‘Real Food Revolution – Paleolithic cuisine!’, there is no cheese, bread or sugar available, only fare accessible to our hunter-gatherer ancestors more than two million years ago.
Kim Kardashian, hopelessly infatuated with Texas blogger, files for divorce
So, Kim is dumping that basketball player? Does that mean I still have a shot?
Kim Kardashian filed for divorce Monday morning, after 72 days of not-so-wedded bliss to Kris Humphries … TMZ has learned, and now we have the documents.
We’re told even though the marriage was short, she is not seeking an annulment. It’s a garden variety divorce, in which Kim cites “irreconcilable differences.”
The date of separation is listed as today, Oct. 31, 2011. According to the docs, Kim wants Kris to foot his own lawyers’ fees and she’ll pay hers. And, she wants the court to reject any move by Kris to get spousal support.
Apparently, I am not the only blogger who thinks Kim is a lovely lady. Randy is smitten too
Once again government puts politics over kids
Warner Todd Huston has the sad details of how PC is being given more sway than kids that need families!
Earlier this year, the state of Illinois moved to force religious-based children’s services to break their religious principles and give children in their charge to homosexual couples. Organizations such as Catholic Charities have been told by the state that they either break their religious principles or face being shut down by the state. So, pursuant to that agenda, the state has determined that all children currently in the hands of religious adoption agencies need to be removed immediately.
So, the State will uproot kids, and treat them as pawns in a game of PC?
So what was so bad that the State of Illinois felt it necessary to take all children away from religious-based organizations? Have there been cases of abuse? Perhaps children’s services from religious-based groups have been rated lowly? Have adopting parents complained?
None of the above. In fact, there is no substantive reason at all for this attack on religious-based children’s services in the Land of Lincoln. Well, no reason except for a left-wing, pro-homosexual political agenda, that is.
You see, the state received precisely one complaint about Catholic Charities. It was from an activist homosexual who complained that the religious-based adoption agencies in the state would not willingly give children up to homosexual couples.
Personally, I would prefer that a child be adopted by a Gay couple, if that couple were deemed suitable, than for the child to remain without a family. Of course, I think the optimal solution is for a married Hetrasexual couple to be given priority. But regardless of my own feelings, there is no reason for the Sate to act in this manner, none at all.
Once more Liberal ideology has, in the name of doing something “for the children” have completely disregarded the children. Why can’t Liberals just be honest, for once, and say, “it is for political correctness”?
What Leftism Does to People by Andrew Klavan
A great look at the moral, and intellectual erosion that Leftism causes
The true test of a philosophy is not what it promises to make of the world but what it makes, in fact, of its adherents. Human nature is remarkably recalcitrant, but ideas do affect people over time, for good or ill, and the societies people make will ultimately bear the image of those effects and thus of the ideas. When historian Paul Johnson, in his book Intellectuals, detailed the often vicious and demented lives of such thinkers as Rousseau, Shelley, and Marx, he was not engaging in casual ad hominem attacks, or playing gotcha with our universal tendencies toward weakness, perversion, and moral failure. He was attempting to trace both the origins and the consequences of his subjects’ philosophical errors. Our beliefs arise from who we are and we become what we believe, a process which, according to our choices, can either resemble a spiral staircase heavenward or a flushing toilet. To him who has, more will be given, and from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away.
Leftism is bad for people. It makes them awful. The unwashed, ill-mannered, anti-Semitic, entitled, and now violent mobs littering various parts of the nation under the banner “Occupy” believe their ideas will lead to a better society — but they actually are the society their ideas lead to. Their behavior when compared to the polite, law-abiding, non-racist demonstrations of so-called tea partiers tells you everything you need to know about the end results of statism on the one hand and constitutional liberty on the other.
This is not, of course, to say that every left-winger is a miscreant but rather that the natural, indeed inevitable, result of statism is to produce nations of miscreants. When the state is permitted to make the individual’s moral choices, the individual is forced to become either a slave or a criminal; when the state is permitted to redistribute wealth, it chains the citizen into a rigid, two-tiered hierarchy of power rather than freedom’s fluid, multi-layered rankings of merit and chance; when the people are taught to be dependent on entitlements, they are reduced to violence when, inevitably, the entitlement well runs dry; when belief in the state usurps every higher creed, the people become apathetic, hedonistic, and uncreative and their culture slouches into oblivion. I need hardly expend the energy required to lift my finger and point to Europe where cities burn because the unemployable are unemployed or because the hard-working won’t fund the debts of the indolent; where violent and despicable Islamism eats away portions of municipalities like a cancer while the authorities do nothing; where nations that once produced history’s greatest achievements in science and the arts can now no longer produce even enough human beings to sustain themselves.
BINGO! Klavan nails it! Leftism, like all forms of Marxism, is evil. It goes completely against the natural right we are all born with, and subjugates the individual, so that the collective can succeed. Of course, the collective never really succeeds. Instead, a few grab all the power, and, well, all we need do is revisit Mao or Stalin’s evils reigns to know where it leads
Another Energy Company Files For Bankruptcy, Could Leave Taxpayers On The Hook For Millions
Beacon Power, a Massachusetts-based, clean-energy company, filed for bankruptcy protection on Sunday, Reuters reported, potentially leaving taxpayers on the hook for up to $43 million, reports Business Insider.
……………………….![]()
So what’s the reason this time?
“The current economic and political climate, the financing terms mandated by DOE, and Beacon’s recent delisting notice from Nasdaq have together severely restricted Beacon’s access to additional investments through the equity markets,” Chief Executive Officer F. William Capp said in papers filed yesterday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware, according to a recent Bloomberg report.
In short, the “political environment” and financing terms that the company agreed to are prohibiting them from operating profitably?
Early chatter is that this case may very well be another Solyndra situation all over again. Much like the failed energy company, Beacon Power received millions ($43 million to be exact) in loan guarantees only to file for bankruptcy soon afterwards.
This could make matters worse for the Obama administration seeing as how House Republicans have already started an investigation into the DOE loan program. Another bankruptcy will only exacerbate the situation.
However, unlike Solyndra, taxpayers will be “among the first in line to collect among Beacon’s creditors.” Yet despite this, the failure of yet another energy company only adds to the list of failed investments made by the administration–and thus strengthens the argument against the administration’s long-term “clean energy” goals.
Beacon Power assures investors that not all is lost.
The Beacon Power subsidiary that received the loan guarantee “has cash reserves and proceeds from the plant that it was required to hold as collateral on the loan,” according to Bloomberg.
Woman Jailed After Pimping 16-Year-Old Girl She Met At Occupy New Hampshire Demonstration
Justina Jensen, a 23-year-old New Hampshire woman was jailed after she allegedly pimped out a 16-year-old girl she met at an ‘Occupy New Hampshire’ demonstration.
………………………………….
According to police, an investigation began after a mother reported that her teen daughter was missing and that her photograph had been posted on a website that advertised adult entertainment.
The mother told investigators that she and a friend pretended to be customers and negotiated a cash deal with the advertiser to have sex with the unwitting teen.
Investigators found the teen’s photo on the website, along with pictures of three other women. The website allegedly advertised “come and have fun with four beautiful ladies” in Manchester, according to the arrest affidavit.
An undercover officer, who identified himself as “Mad Mike” negotiated a telephone deal with the ad owner, agreeing to pay $150 to have sex with the teen. The ad owner, who identified herself as “Remy” accepted the deal and the two set up an appointment to complete the transaction.
Police arrived at the location and made contact with “Remy” who was later identified as Jensen. The teen girl was found in Jensen’s third-floor apartment. Both were taken into custody.
The teen told investigators that she met Jensen at the Occupy New Hampshire Rally, took her picture and posted it on the website. Jensen also allegedly told the girl that she would train her to be a prostitute and that “Mad Mike” was to be her first customer.
Jensen was booked into jail on a charge of felony prostitution. Her next hearing has been set for November 10.
A State-By-State Look At Effects Of October Snowstorm
A State-By-State Look At Effects Of October Snowstorm – ABC News
A state-by-state look at the effects, as of early Monday, of the late October storm that shocked the Northeast on Saturday and Sunday with up to 30 inches of snow in spots. The wet, heavy snow accumulated on still-leafy trees and snapped off branches or toppled them altogether, taking down power lines. Communications were disrupted by collapsed cell phone towers. More than 3 million people lost power at some point, and at least a dozen deaths are blamed on the storm through traffic accidents, electrocutions or other causes.

80-Year-Old Man Rescued From 9-Foot Sinkhole In Front Yard
80-Year-Old Man Rescued From 9-Foot Sinkhole In Front Yard – Newsday
Michael Ciron’s walk down his lawn for his morning newspapers Sunday took a little longer than he expected.
Ciron, 80, of Oceanside, said that about 9:30 a.m. he fell 8 to 9 feet into a narrow hole that appeared in his front lawn – landing in his slippers in wet, shifting sand – before being quickly rescued unscathed by local firefighters.
“When I fell down there, it was scary,” he said. “The dirt down there was like sand.”
.
.
He started to call for help, but soon realized that his voice wouldn’t carry far beyond the narrow pit.
“I started digging to get higher, because nobody could hear me down there,” Ciron said. His head finally above ground, he started calling for his daughter, who was asleep in the house.
Maria Ciron, 24, said she woke to her father’s cries for help, and went to his room to find him, not thinking to look for him in a hole in the front lawn.
“I couldn’t see him from my room,” she said. “I had no idea where he was.”
After a few minutes, she discovered her father, who had by that time found a way to prop his elbows on the ground to give himself a boost.
Police and firefighters, summoned by Maria Ciron’s 911 call, quickly retrieved her father from the hole.
First Assistant Chief Thomas Bettes of the Oceanside Fire Department said he secured webbing around Michael Ciron’s torso, then with another member pulled the octogenarian out.
“He was slipping in as we were there,” Bettes said. “His head was starting to go below the soil line where the grass is.”
Minutes later, his vital signs checked, Ciron was deemed healthy and free to go back in the house and take a long, hot shower.
Now, Ciron is full of admiration for the “young lions” who rescued him, and wonders about the origin of the mysterious hole in the lawn. Father and daughter both think it’s an old well or cesspool, uncovered by the wet weather.
While Ciron’s usual Sunday morning routine was mostly derailed by the cave-in, at least one of his missions was accomplished.
“I held on to the papers,” he said.
Politico’s “Anonymous Sources” Claim Herman Cain Sexually Harassed Two Women In The ’90s – Campaign Denies Allegations
It’s tough to take this seriously when Politico can’t find a single person willing to go on the record.
During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to Politico.

Herman Cain Denies Report Of Sexual Harassment – Boston Herald
Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain’s campaign denied allegations Sunday that he was twice accused of sexual harassment while he was the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s.
……………………….
In a statement to The Associated Press, his campaign disputed a Politico report that said Cain had been accused of sexually suggestive behavior toward at least two female employees.
The report said the women signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them five-figure financial payouts to leave the association and barred them from discussing their departures. Neither woman was identified.
The report was based on anonymous sources and, in one case, what the publication said was a review of documentation that described the allegations and the resolution.
Cain’s campaign told the AP that the allegations were not true, and amounted to unfair attacks.
“Inside-the-Beltway media have begun to launch unsubstantiated personal attacks on Cain,” spokesman J.D. Gordon said in a written statement. “Dredging up thinly sourced allegations stemming from Mr. Cain’s tenure as the Chief Executive Officer at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, political trade press are now casting aspersions on his character and spreading rumors that never stood up to the facts.”
Asked if Cain’s campaign was denying the report, Gordon said, “Yes.”

The City of Richmond charged the local tea party $10,000 to hold three rallies on the plaza… But, socialist squatters get to set up camp for free.
……………………….
The Richmond Tea Party is demanding a refund from the city for $10,000 it spent on for permits, portable toilets, police presence and emergency personnel for three rallies held at same plaza where the Occupy Richmond squatters set up their camp.
The Republic reported:
The Richmond tea party is demanding a refund of about $10,000 from the city, claiming it unfairly charged them for rallies while allowing the Occupy protesters to use the same space for several weeks for free.
The political organization is sending the city an invoice for the charges incurred for three rallies held in Kanawha Plaza over the past three years. The Occupy protesters have been camped in the plaza since Oct. 15.
Richmond Tea Party spokeswoman Colleen Owens says it’s not fair that her group had to pay fees for permits, portable toilets, police presence and emergency personnel. The group also had to purchase a $1 million insurance policy.
