Oops: Palestinians Shoot Themselves (Really) In Welcome-Home-Prisoner Revelry
Oops: Palestinians Shoot Themselves (Really) In Welcome-Home-Prisoner Revelry – The Blaze
The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) reports 20 Palestinians were injured in Gaza due to celebratory shooting-in-the-air upon the return of convicted terrorists freed by Israel in exchange for Hamas’ release of kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit.
After surveying hospitals last Tuesday, the Center reported that among the injured were six children and three women.
……………………….
Gaza hospitals reported admitting patients with bullet and shrapnel wounds, including a 24-year-old with a serious bullet wound to the head, a 17-year-old with a bullet to the face, a seven-year-old with a bullet to the neck, a five-year-old with shrapnel in the thigh, and a two-year-old with shrapnel in the hand.
In its report, the Center called on Hamas authorities to crack down and find those responsible:
PCHR is concerned over casualties resulting from the use of weapons in celebrations, which constitutes a form of misuse of weapons and assaults on the rule of law.
Shooting in the air is frequently seen during celebrations in the Muslim world, including at weddings. And not infrequently, reports of guests being injured by bullets.
Last year, a Turkish groom celebrating his own wedding fired an AK-47 which missed the air and instead killed his father and two aunts and injured eight adults and children.
CNN Reporter Sara Sidner was hit by shell casings filing a report outside Muammar Gadhafi’s compound this summer. Her colleague Michael Holmes reported Libyan rebels were firing celebratory rounds in the air with their AK-47s and anti-aircraft munitions:
But I have to say I’d not seen anti-aircraft “celebratory gunfire” before this conflict. And the volume of fire near Sara and the team was something to behold. Clearly, the rebels must have thought they had no further need for their bullets.
And I noted that several of the rebels, including one operating one of those anti-aircraft guns, might technically have been “shooting into the air,” but only just. The anti-aircraft gun seemed to be pointed at an angle that would have made anyone on the third floor of a building in its line of fire want to don some body armor.
In August, The Blaze released an article detailing the science behind dangerous celebratory gunfire, and noted that there have been fatalities in the U.S. tied to the practice, including a 4-year-old Atlanta boy in 2010.
Romney Refuses To Back Kasich Against Government Unions
Romney Refuses To Back Kasich Against Government Unions – Washington Examiner
Campaigning in Ohio today, Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney stopped by a Republican Party phone-bank making calls in support of Gov. John Kasich’s government union reform referendum, but refused to endorse the actual referendum. CNN’s Peter Hamby called the scene an “incredible moment in politics.”
……………………….
Kasich already signed his government union reforms into law in March of this year, not long after Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker won his battle against government unions. But Democrats, with the help from the AFL-CIO, placed a referendum on next week’s ballot Issue 2, that would repeal the new law. A vote for the referendum would keep the law, a vote against would repeal.
Kasich’s new law: 1) bans government unions from bargaining over health insurance, 2) requires that all government union members pay at least 10% of their wages toward their pensions, 3) ends seniority rights as the sole factor in layoffs, 4) replaces seniority pay raises with merit pay raises, 5) bans government unions from striking, and 6) makes government union dues voluntary. But government unions would still be able to bargain about many other topics including pay and working conditions.
The Ohio Chamber of Commerce, the Columbus Dispatch, the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Tim Pawlenty, and multiple mayors have all backed Kasich’s law. The Plain Dealer wrote:
Ohio [can’t] pass up this opportunity to break with an unsustainable status quo. Yes, change is scary. But look around: Not changing is even scarier. When they mark their ballots, Ohioans cannot worry about what is best for any political party or interest group — on either side of this debate. They need to consider what’s best for the future of their children, their communities, their state.
If Romney can’t endorse this common sense reform at the state level, why should conservatives believe he will fight against government unions at the federal level.
Obama Defies Base, Hires Wall Street Lobbyist For Re-Election Campaign
Obama Defies Base, Hires Wall Street Lobbyist For Re-Election Campaign – Daily Caller
President Barack Obama’s new senior campaign adviser is a longtime Wall Street lobbyist, and has the potential to damage the president’s aspirations to appeal to the protesters currently “occupying” New York City’s Zuccotti Park.
……………………….
Obama’s new adviser, Broderick Johnson, has an extensive history of lobbying for big banks and corporations, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. In 2007, he lobbied for JP Morgan Chase and in 2008 Johnson lobbied for Bank of America and Fannie Mae. From 2008 through 2010, he lobbied for Comcast and in 2011 he lobbied for Microsoft.
Johnson is currently a partner at D.C.-based communications firm Collins Johnson Group, which boasts that it excels at “providing superior strategic planning and political consulting services to multinational corporations, government entities, political campaigns and parties, elected leaders, nonprofit organizations, issue groups, investors and entrepreneurs.”
Including open houses and social events, Johnson has visited the White House 17 times since 2009, according to White House visitor logs. One of those meetings was with Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett.
In early 2009, Johnson was named partner at lobbying firm Bryan Cave LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. In that role, his responsibility was to “establish and lead the firm’s new Public Policy & Governmental Affairs Client Service Group.”
That means that during those White House visits, Johnson was a registered lobbyist.
Johnson also donated more than $150,000 of his own money Democratic candidates and causes since 2008. Public political donation records show Johnson has, since 2006, never donated to a conservative or a Republican.
Perhaps most troubling to those who normally would consider themselves Obama’s 2012 base, though, is how Johnson has lobbied on behalf of the Keystone XL pipeline. The Huffington Post previously reported that Johnson is a “former Bryan Cave LLP lobbyist registered on the Keystone XL account” and that Bryan Cave LLP earned approximately $1.08 million lobbying for TransCanada between 2009 and 2011.
Environmentalists are upset about the near-finalized pipeline proposal that would allow TransCanada to build a $7 billion, 1700-mile pipeline through the heart of the United States. If the State Department approves the proposals and the pipeline is built, it would transport crude oil from tar sands in Alberta, Canada to U.S. refineries along the Gulf of Mexico.
Liberal group Friends of the Earth, which adamantly opposes the Keystone XL pipeline, is furious with Obama’s decision to hire a former pro-pipeline lobbyist. The group is disgusted with what it considers Obama’s blatant support for crony capitalism.
“Apparently the hope and change idealism of the 2008 campaign has been replaced by cynical status quo insiderism for 2012,” Friends of the Earth spokesman Nick Berning told The Daily Caller. “It’s as though the Obama campaign were intentionally trying to alienate its base.”
The Obama re-election campaign appears to have tried to hide or downplay Johnson’s lobbying history, as the original campaign press release announcing his hire completely ignored it. Democratic National Committee spokesman Brad Woodhouse hasn’t returned TheDC’s request for comment on the issue, either.
Later, though, Politico reported that an anonymous Obama campaign official said Broderick “is no longer a lobbyist – he deregistered in April – and he will not discuss any matters related to his former firm’s clients with the campaign.”

Black Racist Teen Mobs Accost White Motorists In Peoria – Gateway Pundit
Teen mobs accosted white motorists this weekend in Peoria, Illinois. The mobs of black youths called the motorists “honkies” and threatened to “kick white a$$.”
It wasn’t the first time. In June black youths marched in the streets of Peoria screaming, “We need to kill white people.” And, in July black youths shot fireworks at police and firefighters on the 4th of July.
.
.
The PJStar reported:
Two motorists were accosted by groups of teenagers within a few days of each other in an area near the site of a similar incident over the summer that drew national attention.
A group of about 50 young people on West Thrush Avenue near North Sheridan Road in June caused a disturbance by blocking the roadway and, according to one resident but not others, shouting race-related remarks.
A Meals on Wheels delivery driver was making his way to a home in the 800 block of West Nowland Avenue about 12:45 p.m. Wednesday when he encountered a group of 15 teens – 13 males and two females – walking down the middle of the road.
The group would not yield to the motorist, who followed him until reaching the house where he had to make the meal delivery. As he exited to take the food to the door, he was verbally attacked, according to a report on the incident.
One teen called him “honky,” while another threatened to “kick his white (expletive).”
As the volunteer driver returned to his car to leave, the teens surrounded his car and pounded on it. The vehicle was not damaged, but police noted disturbances to dust on the vehicle, backing up the driver’s story.
A woman driving in the 800 block of West Brons Avenue on Saturday night was the subject of a similar, but much more aggressive confrontation. She encountered a group of more than 40 teens about 10:25 p.m.

Chris Matthews A.K.A Crazy Legs, says something completely inane, then goes back to dry humping pictures of Obama
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: John Heilemann, I have to go through a riff right now, because I think you and I cover — so as Sam does — this incredible portrayal by the Republicans of themselves. First of all, they look hot and horny for executions out in that Reagan library debate. Then they talk about letting the guy on the gurney die because he doesn’t have health insurance. Then they mock the gay soldier. And then you’ve got Bachmann out there saying, if you don’t have health insurance, fine, you can go to the poorhouse. And now this guy saying, hip hip hooray for foreclosures! This party has become a cartoon of Ebenezer Scrooge or worse. They play right into the president’s hands, and he couldn’t be weaker in terms of the economy. And they want to make him, what, are they trying to save this presidency, these guys?
JOHN HEILEMANN, NEW YORK MAGAZINE: Chris, there’s nothing I like better than being on television with you when you’re using the word “horny.” Let’s just start, start with that.
UGH! Can these two get a room already? If they keep this up, MSNBS will be available on Pay Per View only! Lean forward? Yes, to puke!
The Marxist Morons of the Day
Amid the chaos of war, economic hardship, moral decay, crony capitalism, graft and corruption, is there any more refreshing way to kick off a weekend than by finding out that there are still at least a half dozen members of the US Senate who haven’t lost track of the real problem? I’m of course referring to a scourge that is ripping apart the fabric of this nation: fake maple syrup:
Six senators introduced legislation that would make selling fake maple syrup a felony offense leading to fines and up to five years in prison.
The Maple Agriculture Protection and Law Enforcement (MAPLE) Act is a response to what chief sponsor Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and others say is the increasing practice of cheating Vermont, Upstate New York and other maple syrup regions by selling inferior, fake syrup.
“I have been alarmed by the growing number of individuals and businesses claiming to sell genuine Vermont maple syrup when they are in fact selling an inferior product that is not maple syrup at all,” Leahy said Thursday. “This is fraud, plain and simple, and it undermines a key part of Vermont’s economy and reputation for quality that has been hard-earned through Vermonters’ hard work.”
He added that others in the syrup-producing regions of Maine, New York and other states also have been hurt. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) are all co-sponsors.
Good Freaking Grief! Is there any end to the stupidity of these clowns?
Bigots on parade
Truly despicable how the Left preaches tolerance, yet embraces hatred and ignorance
A proposed Texas license plate created to honor Confederate veterans is under fire from elected officials who have vowed to protest the plate’s Confederate flag design, the Houston Chronicle reports.
“We cannot allow the state to issue a symbol of intimidation,” U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, said to a crowd of community leaders outside the Civil Courthouse Saturday.
Lee and other officials plan to go to Austin on Nov. 10, when the Department of Motor Vehicles votes on the design, with petitions and a letter from 17 state legislators to persuade them to vote against the license plates.
Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, said that allowing these license plates would be allowing the people who lost a war to write history.
The Department of Motor Vehicles’ vote on the plate in April ended in a 4-4 tie, with one member absent. The controversial design was created to honor Confederate veterans on the 150th anniversary of the start of the Civil War.
According to the paper, the proposal is sponsored by Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson on behalf of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, a group that has won approval of the plates in nine other states, including Georgia, Maryland and Tennessee. It has filed and won lawsuits in states where its requests were denied.
According to the group, proceeds from the sale of the plates would be used to place markers on Confederate soldiers’ graves and to build monuments honoring Confederate heroes.
So the plates are only for those CHOOSING to buy them, and the money goes to place markers on Confederate graves? And this outrages the Left? Again, the Left wishes to erase history, as they see fit.
So sad how the Left operates. Inclusion? HA! Only for certain groups I guess.
Mitt Romney, tough on illegal immigration?
Mitt Romney has been demagoging the illegal immigrant issue. He has done this in the tradition of other Progressive Republican candidates. They pick a red meat issue that whips up the base to cover up a liberal agenda. It turns out that as part of Romneycare, illegal aliens get medical care!
The Massachusetts healthcare law that then-Gov. Mitt Romney signed in 2006 includes a program known as the Health Safety Net, which allows undocumented immigrants to get needed medical care along with others who lack insurance.
Uninsured, poor immigrants can walk into a health clinic or hospital in the state and get publicly subsidized care at virtually no cost to them, regardless of their immigration status.
The program, widely supported in Massachusetts, drew little attention when Romney signed the trailblazing healthcare law. But now it could prove problematic for the Republican presidential hopeful, who has been attacking Texas Gov. Rick Perry for supporting educational aid for children of undocumented immigrants in Texas.
I suppose if the people of Massachusetts choose to implement this, then that is their right. Just like the people of Texas chose who to give in state tuition to.But, it is odd to find out that Romney is nothing but a hypocrite.
Another very odd thing is how Ann Coulter is all over the Romney bandwagon, just like she was on the Christie bandwagon. Why is she so eager to get a soft Conservative nominated? Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe she digs mandates?
In 2009 between 46,000 and 49,000 Massachusetts residents were fined under that state’s Romneycare law for not having health insurance, or for having a policy that did not include all the mandated coverages imposed by that law.
Sessions: Budget For Food Stamps Ballooning Out Of Control
Sessions: Budget For Food Stamps Ballooning Out Of Control – Daily Caller
Alabama Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions has set his sights on a federal government program that he says has quadrupled its cost during the last decade. This year the federal government is projected to spend $80 billion on food stamps. Sessions says the program’s cost has doubled in the last three years and is set to increase another 14 percent this year.
……………………….
Sessions told The Daily Caller that no large government program’s cost has expanded as quickly as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamp program, which is dwarfing the budgets for other federal responsibilities.
“There is no doubt, if this country isn’t willing to look under the hood of the food stamp program as we try to bring our surging debt under control, we are obviously not serious about what we are doing,” Sessions said. “You know, for example – this is important – the federal highway program is about 40 billion [dollars]… The entire Department of Justice, including the prison system, is about 30 [billion]. This program is 80 [billion], and it’s doubled in three years.”
Setting aside the unemployment rate, one of the reasons the program has ballooned is a federal allowance known as “categorical eligibility.” This permits states to make households automatically eligible for food stamps if they receive other federal benefits like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) or counseling services.
“This makes no sense, because they should at least fill out a form that certifies they meet the asset and income requirements,” Sessions said.
The Alabama senator introduced an amendment to three spending bills on the Senate floor last week to end the categorical eligibility requirement. It was voted down, 41 to 58.
Seven Republicans voted against his proposal, including Maine Sen. Susan Collins, Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran, Indiana Sen. Dan Coats, Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown, Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar, Maine Sen. Olympia Snowe and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
According to the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, the amendment would have saved the government $10 billion over the next ten years without changing the SNAP program’s current eligibility requirements.
“We obviously didn’t do a sufficiently good job in laying out the how simple and reasonable this reform was, or people didn’t hear it,” Sessions said of the defeat. “But I do intend to pursue this.”
Sessions’ food stamp proposal is part of his overall desire to rout out waste. Last week he proposed a new rule in response to the president’s “Buffett Rule” that would raise taxes on wealthy Americans. Sessions’ “Solyndra Rule” would prevent the federal government from spending more money until it ends current waste, fraud and abuse – for which the solar company Solyndra has become the poster company.
“A good government should not ask people for more tax money until they can assure them that they’re operating on a sound basis,” he told TheDC. “And you know, our debt crisis – if we don’t avoid it – will disproportionately hurt the poor. So I think in the long run, if we take responsible steps to rein in spending, we have a better chance of meeting the needs of people that are hurting and actually have fewer people that are hurting.”
Sessions added that the president’s jobs bill, filibustered for a second time in the Democratic-controlled Senate last week, is not the silver bullet the economy needs. But he said the United States needs to reduce spending and its ever-mounting debt.
“I believe that the American people do not favor increasing our debt in an attempt to gain a short-term financial benefit,” Sessions said. “I think that if there was any support for that, it was virtually eliminated after the failure of the first stimulus plan.”
Stoner Attempts To Prove To Cops He’s Not Drunk By Showing Them His Pot
Stoner Attempts To Prove To Cops He’s Not Drunk By Showing Them His Pot – Weekly Vice
Timothy Soldani, a 36-year-old Tillamook man was jailed Tuesday after he allegedly proved to police he wasn’t drunk by showing them his marijuana stash.
According to Portland Police, officers were patrolling the ‘Occupy Portland’ encampment at Chapman Square when they reportedly spotted a man that they thought was consuming an alcoholic beverage, which is prohibited in the park.
………………………………….
Investigators say police asked Soldani to exit the park so they could question him in private. Instead, Soldani opted to prove he wasn’t drinking by showing officers a mason jar filled with several bags of marijuana.
Soldani was booked into the Multnomah County Jail and charged with delivery of marijuana in a park. His bail was set at $22, 500.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal Crushes Competition To Win Re-Election
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal Crushes Competition To Win Re-Election – The Blaze
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal on Saturday easily coasted to a second term, winning in a landslide election after failing to attract any well-known or deep-pocketed opposition.
……………………….
The 40-year-old Republican overwhelmed nine competitors in the open primary, where a candidate wins the race outright if he or she receives more than 50 percent of the vote.
“I will use every day, every hour of these next four years to make Louisiana the very best that we can be. I don’t believe in resting on our past accomplishments. I don’t believe in taking time off,” Jindal told a packed hotel ballroom of supporters in Baton Rouge.
Jindal piled up $15 million in campaign cash from around the nation and attracted no Democratic challengers with statewide name recognition or fundraising heft. He’s had consistently high approval ratings since taking office in 2008.
……………
His win comes amid the virtual collapse of the Democratic Party’s clout in the state. In the current term, Republicans have gained control of all seven statewide elected posts and both chambers of the legislature.
The first Indian-American governor in the United States, Jindal is considered by some a possible presidential contender in the future. He recently published a book and regularly appears on national news shows, but he ruled out a 2012 run.
Still, his brand of conservatism and refusal to raise taxes has resonated outside the state.
……………………….
The race that received more attention in Louisiana was the one for lieutenant governor, because the officeholder is next in line should Jindal step down because of his national political ambitions.
Incumbent Jay Dardenne, who took office after a special election last year, faces off against Plaquemines Parish President Billy Nungesser. Like Jindal, Nungesser was a vocal critic of the federal response to the massive Gulf oil spill.

Thanks Barack… Libya To Introduce Radical Islamic Law – Gateway Pundit
The chairman of the National Transitional Council aanounced today that the country would use Islamic law in the government and banking systems.
……………………….
The Telegraph reported:
Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de facto president, had already declared that Libyan laws in future would have Sharia, the Islamic code, as its “basic source”.
But that formulation can be interpreted in many ways – it was also the basis of Egypt’s largely secular constitution under President Hosni Mubarak, and remains so after his fall.
Mr Abdul-Jalil went further, specifically lifting immediately, by decree, one law from Col. Gaddafi’s era that he said was in conflict with Sharia – that banning polygamy.
In a blow to those who hoped to see Libya’s economy integrate further into the western world, he announced that in future bank regulations would ban the charging of interest, in line with Sharia. “Interest creates disease and hatred among people,” he said.
Gulf states like the United Arab Emirates, and other Muslim countries, have pioneered the development of Sharia-compliant banks which charge fees rather than interest for loans but they normally run alongside western-style banks…
…Libya is already the most conservative state in north Africa, banning the sale of alcohol. Mr Abdul-Jalil’s decision – made in advance of the introduction of any democratic process – will please the Islamists who have played a strong role in opposition to Col Gaddafi’s rule and in the uprising but worry the many young liberal Libyans who, while usually observant Muslims, take their political cues from the West.
Related… Only 41% agree with Obama’s decision to take military action in Libya.

OK, so Gadaffi is dead, and his replacement will be just as bad
Two words that will now haunt every freedom-loving Libyan. SHARIA LAW!
The AP reported:
Libya’s transitional leader says Islamic Sharia law will be the “basic source” of all law.
So, no basic liberty, especially for women. God help Libya and Tunisia too
A year ago, Tunisia was a moderate pro-Western nation.
Fast forward to this week — The Islamist Party is expected to win the Tunisian elections today.
Thanks Barack.
The BBC reportedVoting has begun in Tunisia in the first free election of the Arab Spring, nine months after the fall of former President Zinedine el Abidine Ben Ali.
Voters will elect a 217-seat assembly that will draft a new constitution and appoint an interim government.
The much celebrated “Arab Spring” will prove to be nothing but a disaster for the entire region. Just look at where Egypt is headed
(AFP) — An Egyptian court sentenced a man to three years in jail with hard labour on Saturday for insulting Islam in postings on Facebook, the official MENA news agency reported.
The Cairo court found that Ayman Yusef Mansur “intentionally insulted the dignity of the Islamic religion and attacked it with insults and ridicule on Facebook,” the agency reported.
The court said his insults were “aimed at the Noble Koran, the true Islamic religion, the Prophet of Islam and his family and Muslims, in a scurrilous manner,” the agency reported.
It did not provide details on what he had written that was deemed to be offensive.
