Nearly everybody who runs a right-leaning political blog these days talks about the “mainstream news media”, but I’m here to tell you that this term no longer applies to entities like MSNBC, the Washington Post, CNN, CBS News, or even the HOLY New York F-ing Times.
Those organizations – and every pitiful, leftist, smear merchant like them – will soon be as dead as Al Gore’s integrity, and good riddance to bad rubbish.
Yet, despite the imminent demise of such companies, no single conservative news organization has leapt to the forefront to fill the vacuum that the aforementioned Marxist propaganda tools have left behind them.
Oh sure, there’s Fox News, but if you really believe that this charming little station brings you honest, hard-hitting, meaningful news on a regular basis, you’ve been setting your information bar WAY too low.
Take it from someone who reads upwards of 50 news blogs a day from all over the world, while what you get from Fox is easily preferable to what you’d get from every other TV news source, that doesn’t make it a necessarily GOOD news source. It just makes it the best one that television has to offer.
Oh, and by the way, television too is as dead as my grandfather’s boyhood dog… it just doesn’t know it yet.
The future of news and information, like the future of home entertainment, was hard-wired into the net from its inception. The only reason most Americans haven’t already cancelled their cable or satellite TV subscriptions is because old habits die hard.
But die they must, and once the majority of people in this country begin to understand that there is nothing you can find on TV that can’t be found on-demand online – and a lot cheaper as well – believe me, the boob-tube is toast.
Therefore, the smart play for right-wing news junkies would be to create an online broadcast news network (heck, maybe even call it OBN) and bring together the best conservative-minded commentators to share with the world the news that most Americans want to know, the opinions that most Americans can appreciate, and the patriotic spirit that ALL Americans need in their lives.
To this end I now introduce the concept of the ‘NEW Mainstream News Media Convention’, the purpose of which is to round up the most politically active, media-savvy and net-proficient individuals in the conservative community, so that they may discuss the practicalities of creating such an online news network.
Here’s my list of candidates for such a venture.

Please take note that the above list is by no means complete, nor do I believe that merely posting a blog entry such as this will lead in any direct way to the sort of grand scheme I’ve laid out before you.
Still, it’s not a bad idea, on balance, and if any of my good friends out there in cyberland should decide to share this concept with those among us who might possibly possess the wherewithal to make my humble dream a reality, I’d consider those folks to be FREAKIN’ AWESOME!

Fabulous idea you came up with. Also a fabulous line-up.
