One of the last Election Day questions has been answered after two weeks of fumbling by official in St. Lucie County, Florida. The recanvasses and recount of the vote has left Rep. Allen West over 1900 votes short of victory, and early this morning West conceded the race to Patrick Murphy:
Florida Rep. Allen West – the tea party pugilist and face of the class of House Republicans that stormed to power two years ago – conceded Tuesday to 29-year-old construction executive Patrick Murphy in one of the nation’s highest-profile congressional races.
After two weeks of battle with St. Lucie County elections officials – and a recount of early votes that wound up extending Murphy’s lead – West acknowledged that he couldn’t surmount his 1,904-vote, or 0.58 percent, deficit. That difference was just outside the 0.5 percent threshold to automatically trigger a recount of all votes.
The West campaign sent out a lengthy statement by e-mail to the media this morning:
For two weeks since Election Day, we have been working to ensure every vote is counted accurately and fairly. We have made progress towards that goal, thanks to the dedication of our supporters and their unrelenting efforts to protect the integrity of the democratic process. While many questions remain unanswered, today I am announcing that I will take no further action to contest the outcome of this election.
While there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results, and the actions of the St. Lucie County and Palm Beach County Supervisors of Elections rightly raise questions in my mind and for many voters, after much analysis and this past weekend’s recount in St. Lucie County, our legal team does not believe there are enough over-counted, undercounted or fraudulent votes to change the outcome of the election.
While a contest of the election results might have changed the vote totals, we do not have evidence that the outcome would change. Given the extremely high evidentiary hurdles involved in a successful challenge, I will not ask my generous supporters to help fund a drawn-out, expensive legal effort with little chance of success. Therefore, we will not contest the certification or challenge the seating of Congressman-elect Murphy.
West also hinted that Florida voters haven’t seen the last of him:
Only God knows what is in store for each of us. I have dedicated my life to serving this nation, and the results of this election will not change my purpose. Just as I did in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan, just as I did on Capitol Hill, I will continue to fight for our Republic.
At the very least, West will have more time now to work with grassroots conservatives in organizing opposition to Democratic policies. West has been a star at events like CPAC and Tea Party rallies and conventions, and that will only increase after this tough loss. Don’t be too surprised if West challenges Murphy in 2014, when Barack Obama’s campaign isn’t around to drive turnout and the incumbent President typically loses seats in Congress. This race was narrow enough that even just a little buyer’s remorse could make the difference in two years.
Delayed Overnight: Allen West Closer To Triggering Full Recount – Big Government
UPDATE 4: The SOE has closed down for the night with the hand count of the 304 found ballots unfinished. Hawkes relays that everyone on site except for SOE staff and law enforcement have been forced out of the building, and the count is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 8 AM. No vote totals have been given to the public yet. The early vote ballots have been sealed. No word on the hand-counted ballots.
The reason given for the early closure is that the building where the recount is taking place has an alarm system that automatically arms at 11 PM. Pro-West advocates claim that the same facility has been used in the past weeks as late as 2 AM. Hawkes and her contacts find it hard to believe that over 37,000 ballots were counted in twelve hours, but 304 more could not be completed in two.
West supporters on the ground describe their experience through the entire recount process as an emotional roller coaster. The county originally granted a recount of only the last three days of early voting. On Friday, Judge Dan Vaughn denied West’s request for a recount of the previous five days; the SOE superseded the decision the same day.
UPDATE 3: A witness at the scene told Hawkes “as each machine is emptied, all ballots are placed in a new box, taped, secured, and signed off by two police officers who stand right there and watch.” The votes will then be undisputably recorded in the case of a district-wide recount.
Around 40 West supporters are on site waiting for the results and six Murphy supporters. Though it will not affect the outcome, the West camp remains confident, because “in every recount that has happened West has gained votes.”
UPDATE 2: BNN’s source Hawkes reports the early vote retabulation has been completed.
County operatives have begun to count the 304 lost ballots by hand, and the Supervisor of Elections (SOE) has begun uploading data from the voting machines’ memory cards – a process that takes roughly an hour to complete. Representatives from both sides are monitoring the process. The final vote count is expected at midnight eastern time.

Congressman Allen West may gain enough votes to trigger a full recount of the Nov. 6 election results, which initially went for Democrat Patrick Murphy, sources monitoring the race in Florida’s Congressional District 18 have told Breitbart News.
The St. Lucie County Canvassing Board voted 2-1 Friday to grant West a recount of early votes cast within the county from October 27th to November 3rd. The county rejected an injunction from Murphy’s campaign to stop the recount Saturday afternoon, reports Elizabeth Hawkes, CEO of Youth for Palin, Inc. The recount will be completed at 8 PM EST Saturday.
John Swetland, a spokesperson for Allen West Republic, a group not affiliated with the official West campaign, claimed a number of lost ballots would be included in the recount of early votes.
“Last night they found 304 more missing ballots – that is, in addition to all the other errors throughout the week, but of that I do not have an accurate number that I’d be comfortable quoting,” Swetland stated. “Also, while awaiting the verdict by the canvassing board the public in attendance was informed that the box of uncounted missing ballots had been found, the location was reported to us as being in the corner of a school gymnasium.”
The official count of the results in St. Lucie County were 52,672 votes for West and 65,567 for Murphy – a difference of 12,895. If the partial recount decreases Murphy’s lead by just 254 votes, to a lead below 12,641, that will trigger an automatic recount across the entire district – Martin, Palm Beach, and St. Lucie counties.

Allen West Files Suit To Have Early Votes Recounted In St. Lucie County – Right Scoop
The Allen West for Congress campaign has now filed suit in St. Lucie County to have all early votes recounted and to hold of certification of the election results until the recount is completed:
FOX NEWS – Florida Rep. Allen West said Tuesday he filed a circuit court complaint challenging the official result of his race, which ended with him losing re-election by 2,442 votes.
The lawsuit asks the St. Lucie County court for a preliminary injunction that would order election officials to recount early votes in the state’s 18th Congressional District and refrain from certifying the results until the process in complete.
He was also on with Mark Levin tonight where not only mentioned the above lawsuit, but made clear this election isn’t about a West victory, but about a fair electoral process that the people in his district can trust:
This is about us asking questions. This is about us making sure that the 22 years I spent in uniform to serve this great nation – I took an oath to the Constitution to support and defend it. And I want to make sure that that oath that I continue to serve under means something. It is about, like I said, the honor and the integrity of our electoral process.
And I know that there are people out there that are Democrats or liberals that are listening and their whooping and hollering. You know, if you want me gone that’s fine. But do not do it at the expense of the voters in Congressional district 18. All I am asking for is a fair and equitable elections process and let the results come out where they may.

Gary Jackson asks about these boxes of military ballots in Allen West’s district down in Florida
As you know, the democrat party is working feverishly to steal the election in Florida. Specifically Allen West’s seat. It just doesn’t do for a powerful black Conservative to have a voice in Washington. He might convince those enslaved by the democrat party to join him!

Massive Voter Fraud In St. Lucie County, Florida – Townhall
On Tuesday only one precinct had less than 113% turnout. “The Unofficial vote count is 175,554 registered voters 247,713 vote cards cast (141.10%). The National SEAL Museum, a St. Lucie county polling place, had 158.85% voter turn out, the highest in the county.”
The Supervisor of Elections, Gertrude Walker, had this to say concerning the 141% voter turnout: “They may have had something like that in Palm Beach County, but we’ve never seen that here.”
So maybe Allen West wasn’t crazy to ask for a lock-down on the ballot boxes and machines in this county. According to the report given the day after elections, Allen B. West garnered 52,625 votes in St.Lucie county and Patrick Murphy 65,896 votes.
This is a problem that must be addressed right away. There is no reason that there should ever be more than 100% turnout. This county alone could have cost Allen West his election. Voter fraud is real, and it is time that this be solved.

Allen West: “Lets Talk About Obama Doing Blow” – Shark Tank
The progressives who attended Congressman Allen West’s town hall meeting managed to drop some choice questions on the good Congressman. One of the questions was about an alleged Article 15 hearing that he supposedly received in the Army- never mind the fact that West never received an Article 15 hearing before leaving the Army- West left the military with full honors and his pension.
West took a bit of an issue with the question, and posed one of his own to his detractors-
“If you guys want to go back and talk about what happened nine years ago to me, lets talk about the President doing blow.” – Congressman Allen West

As far as I know, West is the only politician who has stood up for these Marines. The rest have been tripping and falling over each other in a rush to condemn.

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.
“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?
“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.
