How morally retarded is the Left? The Other McCain lets us know
The split between lawmakers and the White House reflects the dilemma the president finds himself in as he seeks to follow through on last week’s acknowledgment about his incorrect promise on health care coverage.
Good freaking grief! How far removed from our senses are we? Why is anyone making excuses for Obama’s BALD-FACED LIE? He LIED, and many Democrats lied with him. This was not a broken promise, it was a lie, PERIOD! And it was a lie told, and repeated to pass a bill these miscreants KNEW would force most American’s off the insurance they chose, and onto plans the government mandates! How tough is it to connect the dots here? If the government can tell you you MUST buy a product, in this case health insurance, then they can tell you what type of health coverage you MUST have. Honestly who did not see this coming?
Maybe more to the point, why would anyone defend, excuse, or spin this? Because those defending this un-American abomination actually think the government should do whatever it takes to reach the desired end, in this case, socialized medicine. Those defending this do not love liberty, they detest it! They care about the “common good”, they are Marxists! They are fine with deceit because they like the end game, so the means do not matter. It is all about the Collective as Donald Douglas notes
This is literally painful, from Jonathan Cohn, at the New Republic, “Bill Clinton Is Wrong. This Is How Obamacare Works” (via Memeorandum):
The Affordable Care Act includes a so-called grandfather clause. That allows insurers to keep renewing plans, without changes or benefits and prices, as long as they were available before March 2010, when the Affordable Care Act became law. But the non-group market is volatile: Very few people stay on plans for more than two years anyway. And the grandfather clause is narrow, by design: If insurers made even modest changes, the protection goes away. Those plans are subject to the new regulations that take effect in January. As a result, the majority of people who buy insurance on their own are learning they can’t have what they had before, even though Obama promised everybody they could. Either their premiums are going up, as insurers accommodate the new regulations, or the plans are disappearing altogether. In those cases, people have to find new plans. And the sticker price of what they’ll find is higher than what they pay now.
This is not a glitch or an accident. This is the way health care reform is supposed to work. And it’s important to put these changes into context. For one thing, it’s a small number of people relative to the population as a whole. The vast majority of Americans get coverage through employers or a large government program like Medicare. These changes don’t really affect them. The law also anticipates these changes by, among other things, offering tax credits that discount the premiums—in many cases, by thousands of dollars. (Other provisions of the law, like a limit on insurance company profits and overhead, should restrain prices more.) As a result, many people buying coverage on their own will be paying less money for benefits that are as good, if not better, than what they have now.
But there are real people who must pay more and, in some cases, put up with less. Some of them are people walking around with junk insurance, the kind are practically worthless because they pay out so little. Some of them are young people, particularly young men, whom insurers have coveted and wooed with absurdly low premiums—and make too much money to qualify for substantial subsidies. And some of them are reasonably affluent, healthy people with generous, open-ended policies that are hard to find even through employers. Insurers kept selling them because they could restrict enrollment to healthy people. Absent that ability, insurers are canceling them or raising premiums so high only the truly rich can pay for them.
Those people are the ones everybody is hearing about now, partly because they are a compelling, sometimes well-connected group—and partly because, absent a well-functioning website, stories of people benefitting from the law’s changes aren’t competing for attention. It’s impossible to know how big this group is. The data on existing coverage just isn’t that good. The anecdotes are frequently, although not always, more complicated than they seem at first blush. It’s probably one to two percent of the population, which doesn’t sound like much—except that, in a country of 300 million, that’s 3 to 6 million people. Most experts I trust think they represent a minority of people buying coverage on their own, but nobody can say with certainty.
Is that a worthwhile tradeoff for reform? Obviously that’s a matter of opinion. The fact that some people—even a small, relatively affluent group—are giving up something they had makes their plight (genuinely) more sympathetic. They are right to feel burned, since Obama did not make clear his promise might not apply to them. And there’s a principled argument about whether people should be responsible for services they’re unlikely to use presently, whether it’s fifty-something year olds paying for maternity care or twenty-something year olds paying for cardiac stress tests.
Read the whole thing. Utterly astounding.
This is what the president meant by “fundamental” change folks. He is willing to destroy private health insurance to get what he, and his fellow Marxists have long dreamed of, universal health care, which, according to a man I met today at the airport, is a great thing, until you make the mistake of getting sick. And speaking of getting sick, it seems that more Democrats are getting sick of their electoral chances next year
House Democrats delivered a fix-it-or-else ultimatum Wednesday to President Obama, giving his administration until Friday to find an affordable solution for the millions of Americans losing their health plans under ObamaCare — or risk some Democrats backing a Republican solution.
The ultimatum from President Obama’s own party is another sign of the unrest within the Democratic caucus about the cancellation notices. The end-of-the-week deadline is significant, because House Republicans are planning to call a vote Friday on a bill that would extend current policies for another year.
It’s unclear whether Democrats would go so far as to support that bill if the administration does not offer a Plan B. But one senior Democratic source told Fox News that, at a closed meeting Wednesday, Democrats made clear to the administration that they need a proposed fix before Friday’s vote.
The White House has vowed to come up with a solution, but so far has not provided much detail on what such a solution would entail. Press Secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday that the president will make an announcement on possible options “sooner rather than later.”
One senior House Democrat characterized the meeting Wednesday as “heated.” The source said the session consisted of “members telling the administration that they screwed it up and now we have to explain it to the public.”
Another source said that it helps for the administration to hear frank talk “from their friends that they need to get back in front of the problem.”
“No more excuses, just get it done,” the source said.
Of course, if these same Democrats had listened to their constituents three years ago, we would not be in this mess would we? Frankly, every Democrat who voted for Obamacare deserves to get thrown out of office over this.
Buffoonery, or is it deliberate? I cannot put my mind on why they would do this deliberately, there seems to be nothing politically advantageous in that. Frankly, the politically expedient action would be to delay this a year, the voters would not feel the effects in 2014, and that would help Democrats in the November elections. Of course, I am guessing that Team Obama wants to get as many enrolled ASAP! Get the people dependent now, which, of course has been the goal all along. If my gut is right, and this is just incompetence, then this is idiocy on an unprecedented level. And the implosion of Obama Care might come sooner than anyone expected. What is it I keep saying about this administration? Expect the unexpected to be a whole lot worse than anyone expected.
You voted for Obama because of his “make the rich pay their fair share” line didn’t you? Well, guess what, you are a fool
So Facebook is the latest company with close ties to Barack Obama to get a multibillion-dollar tax break. You’ll recall that General Electric’s CEO and head of Obama’s ”Jobs Council,” Jeffrey Immelt, managed to get a sweetheart tax deal for his corporation too. In 2010, GE earned over $14 billion and paid nothing in federal taxes. Zero. Nada. Zilch. Not a penny.
And these are just the tax breaks. The multibillion-dollar slush fund — of your money – directed to Barack’s friends and political donors in his Big Green Boondoggle is even worse.
Yep, Socialism sucks doesn’t it?
Good Freaking Grief!! What religion would have any issue with leukemia treatment? This is the Left making crazy allegations again, in hopes of scaring people into supporting
Democratic Liberal Leftist Communist policies that would control your health care choices.
Via the Lid, who sums up the usefulness of these EO’s
What a pile of nothing. Both the POTUS and the SCHMOTUS had been warning that Obama would take hard constructive action on gun control. For days advocates of the constitution were worried that Obama would seek to destroy the Second Amendment by executive fiat. Instead his actions were the typical political “We will do better and we will study.” One thing the POTUS missed…there is no executive order preventing the Federal Government from selling weapons to Mexican Drug Cartels…everyone would support that one.
Basically, these 23 EO’s are a pile of emptiness. Of course, the Democrats can use these later when they do nothing at all to stop the next high-profile shooting. They can then tell us that they did not go far enough. Of course, they can say the very same thing if they get a new assault weapon ban pushed through too. They new that new gun laws will not prevent the next school shooting, but, they are hoping they can get some more restrictions in place now. Then, when those restrictions are ineffective, they can use their emotional appeals to aim for even more restrictions in the future. The Left is all about getting what they want incrementally folks. This is why we must never sleep on them. They are persistent if nothing else.
Chris, at Wyblog points out two troublesome items from the list
16. Clarify that the Affordable Care Act does not prohibit doctors asking their patients about guns in their homes.
17. Release a letter to health care providers clarifying that no federal law prohibits them from reporting threats of violence to law enforcement authorities.
I do not like these either. I have never had a doctor ask me about guns in my home, and I would never answer such a question, but, again, this is one of those cases where we might rightfully wonder where these two executive orders could lead.
Your doctor is spying on you. And depending on what you tell him, he’ll rat you out to Dear Leader faster than you can say “Second Amendment.” Because it’s now his duty to ask you about your guns.
Newark, NJ Mayor Cory Booker started us down the fascist trail by offering a $1,000 bounty to folks who turn in their gun-owning neighbors. Dear Leader took it one better. Your doctor can’t tell you if your teenage daughter asks for birth control pills. But now he’s required to tell the feds if you own a gun.
Remember when asking librarians to report “suspicious” reference requests was tantamount to detonating the pillars of our civilization? Me neither.
Yeah, so much for that patient confidentialty and “right to privacy” thing. It only applies when it doesn’t conflict with progressive groupthink. Like I said, fascism.
As I stated above, never trust the political Left. Always assume they have ulterior motives. And remember that their number one priority has always been total control of our lives.
Of all the headlines that came out about Obama’s gun control Kabuki Theater today, THIS is the one that might make my skull collapse. Via Steve at MCT
Leader of Fast and Furious wants to study how guns get into hands of criminals
And he said it with a straight face folks! Of course, the media has pretty much blacked out Fast and Furious, like they blacked out Benghazi. And Obama’s radical ties, and his radical church, and so on and so on. They make such useful idiots for Obama!
I once wrote that Democrats are the single worst enemy of working Americans. Sad to say, I hate being right sometimes.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi famously said of Obamacare: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what’s in it.“
Nearly three years later, many Americans are beginning to discover what’s in it.
Taco Bell employees in Oklahoma City, Okla., found out.
Wendy’s employees in Obama, Neb., found out.
And now many other low-wage workers (and their relatives) are finding out, too.
Add to this increasing health insurance premiums, and you REALLY get an idea of how disastrous this bill will be when it takes full effect. Which reminds me of something I need to say. Fuck You Chief
Justice Useful Idiot John Roberts
House Speaker John Boehner declared Wednesday that his chamber will approve a so-called “Plan B” to avert a crush of tax hikes just 13 days away, despite President Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid vowing to oppose it.
The move came as talks between Boehner and Obama suddenly hit a standstill. Boehner’s decision on Tuesday to put forward the “Plan B” — which would raise taxes only on those making over $1 million, and preserve current rates for everyone else — angered the White House. On Wednesday morning, the White House issued a formal veto threat, as the president urged Republicans during a press conference to “peel off the partisan war paint.”
In response to the president’s criticism and resistance, Boehner called a press conference — which lasted less than one minute — to declare the House was moving forward and put the onus on the president to get Democrats on board.
“Tomorrow, the House will pass legislation to make permanent tax relief for nearly every American,” Boehner said. “Then the president will have a decision to make. He can call on the Senate Democrats to pass that bill or he can be responsible for the largest tax increase in American history.”
This is the best move I suppose. Pass a bill, send it the Senate, and let Democrats deal with the blame game. Pound the message home that the president has refused to address spending, and had played the role of a partisan hack, as has Harry Reid. Let Obama explain his inaction. If the president really wants to reach across the aisle for a balanced approach, let him do it, for once! Of course, we know what the president is going to try to use this to cripple the GOP. He thinks he can convince the people that this is all the GOP’s fault. This is also why the GOP better get busy and communicate their message properly. he fact is this, the president wants tax hikes, hikes that will do squat to fix the deficit, and promises, for “balance”, spending cuts, some day, cuts that will never ever happen.
Since the Left deludes themselves into believing that a law will make violent criminals, of nut cases behave, why don’t they just demand a new bill banning evil? Which is exactly what caused the school shooting Friday, evil! Stacy McCain makes a great point
Meanwhile, the New York Times has a story about the shooter’s first victim, his mother. Something that crosses my mind: You start your murder spree by shooting your own mother in the face, and end it by killing yourself — why kill all 26 innocent women and children in between?
Adam Lanza wasn’t “autistic” or suffering from an “illness.” He was evil.
Donald Douglas links to a piece by Daniel Henninger
Here’s one thought: The main reason there isn’t, and may never be, a solution on the fiscal cliff is that Barack Obama doesn’t know how to do a political compromise. Where in his career did Barack Obama ever learn the art of the political deal? Nowhere.
Recall the famous Blair House summit he called early in 2010 amid the legislating over ObamaCare. Lamar Alexander, Tom Coburn, Paul Ryan and other Republicans talked about wonkish compromises. All of it, every single idea, blew right by the president. Naturally the legislation got zero GOP votes. A kid running for high-school president could have gotten more opposition votes than that.
Presidents, kings, queens, generals all have accomplished a modus vivendi with their opponents and mortal enemies. Until now. What deal of Clintonesque majesty has Barack Obama ever pulled off?
The fiscal-cliff negotiation is a train driven by an engineer who doesn’t know how to use the brake, doesn’t know where the brake is and doesn’t care. His idea of politics is giving campaign speeches outside Washington to assemble a Sandy of public sentiment that will blow congressional Republicans off the cliff.
Politics ain’t beanbag, but it also isn’t just about politics. While Barack Obama may think his election mandate includes the ruin of the Republican Party, Republicans seeking a strategy of self-preservation should assert their refusal to participate in the ruin of the nation. As it is, the fiscal cliff has degenerated into a familiar Beltway melodrama in which the media reduce the whole thing to which party gets shafted. As to the health of the gasping American economy, well, whatever.
I give you one word, radical! Donald Douglas sums it up like this
Progressives suck, especially our Dear Progressive Leader Barack Hussein. All hail!
MSNBS has become more of a comedy network than anything else. All a rational person can do is laugh at the bare naked bias. Newsbusters has the latest, this journey into bias provided by Martin Bashir
While speaking about the election with GQ’s Ana Marie Cox and the Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart, Bashir asked, “Do Republicans understand what has happened? Let’s listen to the great Charles Krauthammer.”
This evoked laughter from Cox and Capehart.
After playing a Fox News video clip of Krauthammer commenting about the election results Tuesday, Bashir said, “Now I need to apologize to any young viewers who may have been frightened by that face.”
This again evoked laughter from Cox.
Honestly, is this what MSNBC considers journalism today?
Pathetic, just what you would expect from the children at MSNBS. You know, I would love to watch Bashir debate Krauthammer, I would just love that epic smack down
This editorial minces not one word! Good for them!
U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three other Americans died in a well-planned military assault on their diplomatic mission in Benghazi seven weeks ago, the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So why are details surfacing, piecemeal, only now?
The Obama administration sat by doing nothing for seven hours that night, ignoring calls to dispatch help from our bases in Italy, less than two hours away. It has spent the past seven weeks stretching the story out, engaging in misdirection and deception involving supposed indigenous outrage over an obscure anti-Muslim video, confident that with the aid of a docile press corps this infamous climax to four years of misguided foreign policy can be swept under the rug, at least until after Tuesday’s election.
Think that is a scathing review? It gets better
Not only did the White House do nothing, there are now reports that a counterterrorism team ready to launch a rescue mission was ordered to stand down.
The official explanation for the inadequate security? This administration didn’t want to “offend the sensibilities” of the new radical Islamic regime which American and British arms had so recently helped install in Libya.
The official explanation for why Obama administration officials watched the attack unfold for seven hours, refusing repeated requests to send the air support and relief forces that sat less than two hours away in Italy? Silence.
And just wait for the finish!
This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy – though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity. Back in January 2008, Barack Obama told the editorial board of the San Francisco Chronicle that under his cap-and-trade plan, “If somebody wants to build a coal-fired power plant, they can. It’s just that it will bankrupt them.” He added, “Under my plan … electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket.” It was also in 2008 that Mr. Obama’s future Energy Secretary, Steven Chu, famously said it would be necessary to “figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe” – $9 a gallon.
Yet the president now claims he’s in favor of oil development and pipelines, taking credit for increased oil production on private lands where he’s powerless to block it, after he halted the Keystone XL Pipeline and oversaw a 50 percent reduction in oil leases on public lands.
These behaviors go far beyond “spin.” They amount to a pack of lies. To return to office a narcissistic amateur who seeks to ride this nation’s economy and international esteem to oblivion, like Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb to its target at the end of the movie “Dr. Strangelove,” would be disastrous.
Candidate Obama said if he couldn’t fix the economy in four years, his would be a one-term presidency.
Mitt Romney is moral, capable and responsible man. Just this once, it’s time to hold Barack Obama to his word. Maybe we can all do something about that, come Tuesday.
Yep, that about sums it up.
MSNBS, redefining pathetic
After introducing his Obama-supporting guests Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Lehigh professor James Peterson, host Martin Bashir played a clip of the President speaking at the Red Cross headquarters in Washington Tuesday.
When the clip concluded, Bashir said, “Mayor Reed, so the Red Cross knows what it’s doing. Did he, did you detect perhaps a subtle dig there on Mr. Romney who spent today going against the guidelines established by the Red Cross and holding a campaign rally in Ohio that was dressed up like a charity drive collecting food and other supplies when the Red Cross expressly asked people not to do that?”
Imagine that. A presidential candidate who gives millions of dollars a year to charity does a storm relief event in Ohio, and an MSNBC anchor is disgusted by it because the Red Cross would prefer people donating cash.
Unbelievable, these are the most ideologically rigid people in the country. Smitty ponders how long before they are calling Romney a RAAAAACIST, ans a SEXXXXXIST for cutting a campaign spot for Mia Love
See how a candidate papers over his misogyny and xenophobia with kind words? Don’t believe your lying eyes and ears. Listen to what Uncle Dave Axelrod says: Republicans hate all non-rich, white, suburban people. All this talk of balanced budgets is just thinly-veiledraaaaacism. I hate to break the news to Michael Eric Dyson or ED Schultz, but MANY Black Americans DO support Obama strictly because of his color. Likewise many White people likely think it is their duty to vote for Obama, lest they be accused of racism by the likes of Schultz and Dyson. That is sad, but who should we blame for that mindset? Perhaps we ought to look at the Left, who have, for decades upon decades done everything they can to convince Black Americans that their skin color is everything! They have done the same with women, Hispanics, and Gays, it is called identity politics. The Left loves to divide us, based on gender, skin color, religion, sexual orientation, class, income, age, you name it and the Left will use it to divide Americans.
If the Left can convince voters that they cannot really be Black, or really be a woman unless they vote for people who, I will use one of the Left’s favorite phrases here, “look like them”, then they can count on heavy majorities of those groups to support them. The pushing of identity politics is the real racism, because it assumes that people vote, or think the same because of their skin color. The Left, too, has made a habit of screaming RAAAAACISM at anyone who dares challenge Leftist ideology. It is in seemingly every statement any Democrat issues today. Think about this, when was the last time you heard Democrat NOT invoke class, race, gender, or sexual orientation when they speak? They are devoid if ideas that work, so they are reduced to playing the part of a snake oil salesman pushing accusations of classism, sexism, Homophobia, and of course racism. Is that really a party you want to support?
Here is the transcript
Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on Monday was challenged by MSNBC’s Chuck Todd for making seemingly contradictory remarks regarding Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s foreign policy plans (or lack thereof).
“[W]e have to keep our eye on the ball,” Schultz said, referring to the Obama administration’s supposedly even-handed approach to foreign policy. “We have to keep focusing on making sure that we can protect America from those who would do us harm, not the backwoods ‘cowboy justice’ that Mitt Romney would drag us back to.”
“It’s so unclear what Mitt Romney would do differently than President Obama,” she added.
It’s “unclear” what Romney would do differently? Didn’t she just say the GOP candidate would drag us back to “backwoods cowboy justice” (or something)?
Even Todd found her contradictory statements confusing.
“Wait, I’m confused,” Todd said, “you just … said two different things. You said ‘cowboy’ foreign policy and then you said it’s not clear what he would do differently from President Obama. That’s two different things.”
“And that is the nature of Mitt Romney’s focus in foreign policy has been,” was the DNC chairwoman’s somewhat confounding response. “Who knows what, he hasn’t said what he would do differently. He has done a lot of bellicose chest-thumping that leads you to believe that instead of what President Obama — ”
“You think it will be a different foreign policy?” Todd pressed.
“I’m saying I have no idea,” Shultz responded, “because he has not made it clear, he has plenty of opportunity tonight to make it clear what he would do differently than President Obama.”
Good Freaking Brief!
Oh those nutty folks at MSNBS, they are finding new and inventive ways to make asses of themselves. Now, Lawrence O’Donnell is challenging Mitt Romney’s son to a fight?
Give me a second while I stop laughing. OK, Lawrence, you despicable bag of filth, if you are going to play a bad ass, you might need some practice. I mean you just are not a real intimidating guy. You do seem like a fraud though, an intellectual fraud, a journalistic fraud, and likely a tough guy fraud too, of course, you do work for a network that is a fraud so, it fits! What you are, Lawrence, is a wannabe, a wannabe intellectual, and wannabe newsman, and a wannabe thug. And, of course, it goes without saying that you are a world-class douche too!
I guess that headline might get me in hot water with the PC types, but, they are not too keen on me, or Ed so screw them. Stacy McCain points out that the newest polling is causing the Great 2012 Liberal Freak-Out! And, chief amongst those freaking out is none other than Trig-Truther Andrew Sullivan, who always sounds like he is freaking out to me.
They convinced themselves that Obama “won” Tuesday’s debate, butRomney actually gains in the first Gallup national tracking poll with post-debate reaction? Oh, boy.
UPDATE: Ace explains what happened:
The debate was not a victory for Obama. It was a confirmation of Romney’s acceptability, plausibility, and fitness for office.
Yesterday, Sully admitted he had been “on the ledge”:
Oh good grief! This is classic Sullivan, hyper-emoting and making an ass of himself in general. But at least he has stopped being obsessed with Sarah Palin’s uterus for a while.
By the way, I really do not care that Andrew Sullivan is Gay NTTIAWWT, that is his business, but I thought the headline was funny

Now she might not be, but, her answers and statements make her look like the walking definition of what Chris Matthews thinks of Conservatives. She just seems to be playing the role of Matthews definition of Conservative. Would MSNBS stoop that low? Would Matthews? Do you really have to ask that question? Watch the video, see for yourself, see what you think
