Communist News Network Fails To Retract Second Christie Scandal Story After It Is Proven Bogus

CNN Fails To Retract ‘Exclusive’ On Second Christie Scandal After Their Story Implodes – Daily Caller

On Monday, CNN flooded the airwaves with reports of a second scandal threatening to engulf New Jersey’s Chris Christie, claiming the Republican governor is under federal investigation after evidence surfaced that Hurricane Sandy relief funds were used to purchase a self-promoting advertisement campaign. But according to the federal government, that’s simply not true – and CNN has yet to issue a meaningful correction or retraction.

.
………….

.
The story first broke early Monday morning. “CNN has learned exclusively that a federal investigation will be launched into why money meant for Hurricane Sandy relief was used in a marketing campaign involving Christie’s family,” anchor Kate Bolduan began, before punting it off to CNN’s new investigative reporter, Chris Frates.

Frates alleged that the Christie administration improperly spent $25 million in federal Hurricane Sandy relief funds on a 2013 advertisement campaign to promote tourism in the wake of the storm – even going so far as to spend $2.2 million more on one ad because the agency agreed to feature Christie and his family.

New Jersey Democratic Rep. Frank Pallone, a longtime rival of Christie, was apparently the network’s big tipster. “After an initial review of the Sandy relief spending,” Frates said, “the office of inspector general at the Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD] has concluded that there is enough evidence to launch a full-scale investigation, according to Congressman Pallone.”

The network pushed the story hard, revisiting the report in at least fourteen separate segments on Monday alone. But on Tuesday, HUD’s inspector general issued a rare press release directly contradicting CNN’s story.

“The Department granted a waiver to allow the State to use $25 million of its award on a marketing campaign to promote the Jersey Shore and encourage tourism,” the release read. “An audit was initiated in September 2013 to examine whether the State administered its Tourism Marketing Program in accordance with applicable departmental and Federal requirements. This is an audit and not an investigation of the procurement process.” The statement adds that audits of federal expenditures “are something that this office does routinely.”

That means there was never any “initial review of Sandy relief spending,” no “evidence” yet dug up suggesting wrongdoing, and certainly no “full-scale investigation” – a word the federal government uses only to define a probe by law enforcement. Instead, the inspector general’s release suggests a routine accounting review, the likes of which are pursued dozens of times each year by any agency doling out large grants.

So how did CNN respond to these new revelations? The television reports mostly dried up, while a few sentences added to Chris Frates’ written report Tuesday noted that the inspector general released a statement calling the probe an audit, not an investigation.

But the “update” failed to note that the audit is part of a routine inspector general process, that the $25 million diversion for advertising was approved by HUD or that CNN was wrong in its initial claim that the federal government was pursuing a law enforcement investigation against Christie. And on Wednesday Frates pushed boldly onward, writing that the ad agency rejected by Christie was asked if they would feel “comfortable” featuring the governor in their ads and that – unsurprisingly for a New Jersey state initiative – the committee evaluating the ad proposals was made up entirely of Christie officials.

It’s unclear whether Rep. Pallone misrepresented the audit to CNN or if the network misrepresented the congressman’s explanation of the audit. Both CNN officials and Pallone failed to respond to a request for comment.

Best Damned Governor in America

To any anti-gun weenies who are afraid of guns, and thus deeply aggrieved and offended by real men, AKA Conservative men this is for you. I hope you are so offended you cry yourself to sleep tonight

How many governors would take this picture? Certainly not New Jersey’s Stay Puff Marshmallow Man Yeah, exactly! H/T The Blaze

Best Damn Governor

Chris Christie, a little closer to admitting he is a Democrat every day

Guess who Governor RINO is blaming for a possible government shutdown. Go on, guess

Via Newsmax:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Thursday “responsible Republican leaders” would not allow the government to shut down.

“That, by definition, is a failure. You’ve gotta work it out,” Christie, a Republican, said in a segment set to air Sunday on “CBS This Morning,” Politico reported.

Christie didn’t name any GOP politicians, but his remarks came the day after Texas Sen. Ted Cruz finished a 21-hour speech on the Senate floor advocating for the defunding of Obamacare. Both he and Cruz are seen as possible GOP contenders in the 2016 presidential race.”I think there’s got to be a solution other than that,” Christie said in the CBS episode, NJ.com reported. “I don’t think we should be doing that.”

“I think it’s always irresponsible if you’re running the government to be advocating for shutting it down,” Christie said.

Of course no Republican actually is advocating for shutting the government down, but Christie is playing politics here. Oh goodie, another politics over principles “Republican”

America, where illegal immigrants are treated better than Americans

Apparently enforcing laws on Americans is different than enforcing laws on illegal immigrants now

Two days after winning his party’s nomination for U.S. Senate Cory Booker is already pandering to La Raza. Senor Mayor has decreed that Newark, NJ will no longer detain illegal aliens.

The Newark Police Department has become the first law enforcement agency in New Jersey to refuse the federal government’s requests to detain people accused of minor crimes who are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, according to immigration advocates.

In enacting the policy, Newark becomes the latest city to opt out of the most controversial part of the “Secure Communities” program implemented by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency in 2011, which allows the agency to ask local police to hold any suspect for up to 48 hours if their immigration status is called into question.

“Secure Communities” was designed to enhance ICE’s ability to track dangerous criminals who are undocumented immigrants. Under the policy the Department of Homeland Security reviews fingerprints collected by local police during an arrest, which then allows ICE to issue the detainer requests.

So if you’re an American citizen with outstanding parking tickets from East Nowhereville Idaho the Newark PD will run a warrant check and slap on the cuffs.

But if you swam across the Rio Grande and avoided paying taxes for the past 15 years they’ll send you on your way with an apology and a smile.

What is it with Democrats and selective enforcement of laws?

Of course as Chris points out, Steve Lonegan is running against Cory Booker. And surely, Ann Coulter’s favorite Republican, Chris Christie, who just happens to be Governor of New Jersey, will do all he can to help Lonegan win that Senate race right? AH, not so much

Because Christie plans to sit on his handswhile Steve Lonegan battles Cory Booker for Frank Lautenberg’s old Senate seat.

New Jersey governor’s allies say he will offer an endorsement, but no campaign appearances or fundraising help.

An endorsement to whom?

Please tell me he isn’t going to endorse Booker. Please?

Don’t hold your breath Wysocki.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie finds himself in an awkward situation as he mulls whether to offer any support to his party’s tea-party Republican Senate nominee, Steve Lonegan, against his Democratic friend and off-and-on political ally, Cory Booker.

Lonegan, who cruised to victory in Tuesday’s Republican primary, has a frosty relationship with Christie, dating back to his primary challenge to the governor in the 2009 campaign. Just this week, Lonegan earned a public scolding from Christie for his campaign’s racially tinged tweet attacking Booker. “This is a governor who calls it like he sees it,” said a source close to Christie. “When Steve Lonegan says something and reporters want the governor’s reaction, he’ll tell people what he thinks.”

Chris Christie, closer to saying “the Republican Party left me” every day.

George Soros loves him some Chris Christie

Christie giving the obligatory “The GOP left me” speech just got a tad closer

TRENTON — Gov. Chris Christie is cashing in donations from top Democratic fundraisers and other traditionally liberal donors across the country, even nabbing the support of a handful of rainmakers aligned with President Obama and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, a Star-Ledger review of state and federal records shows.

The checks are flying into the Republican governor’s war chest from all sorts of unlikely places — the hedge fund run by liberal billionaire George Soros, for example, and the politically progressive halls of the University of California, Berkeley.

Chris Christie and Obama sittin’ in a tree….

The Bromance continues between the Governor of Joisey, and President Obama, and Chris Wysocki is not pleased with Christie sitting next to the National dietician

snagging the coveted seat next to Michelle Obama at this weekend’s Governor’s Ball.

Gov. Chris Christie and President Obama have been in “an extended hugfest” since their bipartisan showing during Hurricane Sandy, reports The Atlantic Wire.

Perhaps that’s the reason Christie scored a coveted seat to the right of Michelle Obama at the Governor’s Ball on Sunday night?

Gag me with a spoon.

Exit question, how much advice will Michelle Obama give Christie about eating his vegetables?

Chris Christie, Andrew Cuomo’s kind of Republican

Just another politician, all about himself

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ), who is widely expected to run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016, may have justharmed his chances by signifying his support for the policies of ultra-liberal New York governor – and possible 2016 Democratic opponent – Andrew Cuomo. Talking with union leader Larry Bulman, political director for United Association of Plumbers, Pipefitters and Steamfitters, Christie reportedly said, “I’m not much different from Andrew Cuomo. I probably agree with him on 98% of the issues.”

Christie leans liberal on a myriad of issues. While he maintains that he supports traditional marriage, that position is clearly malleable for him; he grandstands when it comes to federal disaster funding; he has ties to groups that are questionable in terms of Islamism; his anti-union rhetoric masks the fact that he gets along quite well with most of the unions in his state, including the much-maligned teachers unions; he blasts the NRA on a regular basis.

Ben Shapiro might be right, maybe this is just posturing for a 2016 run, I wonder if Ann Coulter will endorse him again? But, to me, this is the type of political gymnastics Americans are sick of, especially Republicans. Give us a candidate that says what they mean and means what they say! CONSISTENCY damn it!

Remember when I said Chris Christie would be a Democrat in five years?

Well, here is another sign of his “evolution” that Chris Wysocki noted

Who’s side is Chris Christie on? Because the Democrats will surely turn his tirade against John Boehner and the GOP into must-see-TV in the run-up to the 2014 midterm elections.

Gov. Chris Christie ripped into House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) today for delaying a vote on billions in federal aid for recovery from Hurricane Sandy.

“There’s only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these innocent victims: The House majority and their speaker, John Boehner,” said Christie at a press conference this afternoon.

Christie, who gave the keynote address at the Republican National Convention last summer, said Congress traditionally puts politics aside for disaster relief but that House Republican leadership had put politics “before our oaths to serve our citizens.”

“For me it was disappointing and disgusting to watch,” said Christie, who praised New Jersey’s own House delegation. “Last night the House of Representatives failed that most basic test of public service and they did so with callous indifference to the suffering of the people of my state.”

Wow.

Hmmmm, Charlie Crist, Chris Christie, similar names……, similar political paths? Maybe we should just automatically distrust any Republican with the name Crist, or Christie, or anything similar no? Remember Christine Todd Whitman?

So, how long until Chris Christie is saying that the Republican Party left him?

I am not sure who said it, but recently, someone opined that the New Jersey Governor will one day complete his metamorphosis into a full blown Democrat. I was not sure that was right, but, when you add Christie’s pro-gun control beliefs with his throwing Romney under Hurricane Sandy for photo-ops with Obama, well, the direction that Christie seems to be taking is troubling. Chris, who lives in New Jersey, is starting to have doubts too.

Raise gas or ice prices more than 10% during a hurricane? Chris Christie will go after you with the full power of the law at his back.

But afterwards? Afterwards he’ll talk about raising taxes, because there’s no such thing as price gougingwhen government needs money.

Homeowners in towns hit hard by Hurricane Sandy could be in for an unpleasant surprise on their property tax bills.

Gov. Chris Christie said today that he expects property taxes to go up in towns that need extensive rebuilding.

“They’re probably going to have higher taxes,” said Christie. “It’s got to be paid for. This goes back to the old magic money tree. There’s no magic money tree.”

C’mon Christie! Your new bestest buddy Barry would beg to differ. He promised his peeps a magic money tree. They voted for a magic money tree. You can’t be dissing Prez BO! That’s like racist or something.

Yeah, one hug from Dear Leader is all it took to turn Governor Awesome into Robby RINO, tax hiker extraordinaire. Remember that tax cut Christie promised us earlier this year? Kiss it goodbye.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie said he isn’t sure whether he’ll still pursue a tax cut that was the centerpiece of his economic strategy because Hurricane Sandy may have hurt state revenue in October and November.

At times like this, I cannot help but think about Ann Coulter who once said that unless the GOP nominated Christie, we would get stuck with Mitt Romney and would lose. Then she said that Romney was our ONLY hope when more Conservative candidates were still viable, and would have benefited from a Coulter endorsement. Odd isn’t it? The guy that Coulter backed first ended up helping give Obama a big PR win hurting the second guy Coulter endorsed. And people wonder why I am not especially impressed by Coulter?

And, a note to Chris up in Joisey, there is lots of room here in Texas, and our governor, well his record speaks volumes, he IS the real deal!

Sarah Palin’s foot meets Chris Christie arse!

Via The Gateway Pundit!

YES! Thank you! The fact is this, the most qualified guy in this race is not Mittens Romney, sorry Christie, sorry Ann Coulter. Sure, newt has his faults, but Mitt has his, and so does Prince Christie for that matter. But, if you look at what Mitt and Newt have done to advance Conservatism, Mitt loses! And, let us remember just how important winning in November is. Let us remember what we have now, as a president shall we?

CNS News reported:

President Barack Obama says the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade is the chance to recognize the “fundamental constitutional right” to abortion and to “continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.”

Because a woman cannot have dreams if we respect human life? Moral retardation run amok!

Something tells me that Doug Powers is not that broken up over Christie’s decision

Frankly, I am not that upset either

As fun as it always has been watching Chris Christie smack down union leaders, stuff like this is just one of the reasons why I was never on the “Draft Christie” bandwagon:

Chris Christie weighed in on the Occupy Wall Street protesters yesterday asserting that they “come from the same perspective” but have “different solutions.”

“What they are saying is, that ‘Government is not working for me anymore, government is not being fair and government is not helping me the way it should,’” he added.

Absolutely clueless.
