San Francisco may have banned the exposure of genitalia, but that’s not stopping the Department of Public Health from bringing back its giant Healthy Penis. Yes, the beloved six-foot-tall mascot for safe sex is literally coming out of the closet and will be back at parades and other city events – and this time he comes with free penis-shaped stress toys!

Because hey, it ain’t a parade with giant penises and penis shaped stress toys!

The health department sparked some controversy when it debuted the three characters, all penises but in different hues, back in 2002. But the penis costumes – worn by health department staff and aimed at encouraging gay and bisexual men to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases – became popular and have been copied in San Jose and Cleveland.

The penises went into retirement in 2006, debuted again in 2009, and now are back for a third time to encourage men to get tested for STDs every six months. Those who do get tested will receive a Healthy Penis stress toy and a coupon that looks like a dollar bill – but, of course, with a Healthy Penis in place of George Washington. The coupons can be used for discounts, free coffee and other goodies at 25 local businesses.

The unbearable price of ignorance

 

The Left has advanced its agenda in America for many reasons. Their campaign of division, splitting Americans into groups based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and class has been extremely successful. So have their willingness to lie, and to smear political opponents. Those two tactics are not the only ones the Left uses however. Their is ignorance, specifically voter ignorance too.

The greatest threat to our liberties is not the average politician.  The greatest threat to our liberties is the ignorant voter; the voter who doesn’t take the time to do their homework in regards to the issues.  These are voters who vote by name recognition or by party affiliation.  These are voters who check the party box on the ballot.  These are voters who have a myopic view of America and continuously spew the talking points of the politician they support even if it’s factually wrong.  They are the Kool-Aid drinkers and part of the rainbows and unicorns crowd.  They believe the lie before the truth and claim the truth is a lie.  They feel and vote based on emotions rather than facts.  They put as much thought into the politician they support as the last minute Christmas shopper puts into the gift they’re buying before the stores close; they settle for what’s left on the shelves.  Each of us has had our own experience with people like this.  They think they know more than they actually do.  And this is the kind of voter the left needs to advance their agenda.

George Washington believed that intelligent voters was a key in retaining our republic. He was absolutely right. I have come to believe that one of the biggest reasons the Left pushes so hard for a “right” to a college education is to have more time to indoctrinate, or dumb down our youth. This is also the same reason they push for mandatory pre-school, and sell the “it takes a village” line of thought. The fact is the Left realizes that voters who are indoctrinated from ages four, or less, until their early twenties are more easily led to vote for the emotionalistic rhetoric of the Left. Just as those who believe that their entire identity revolves around gender, skin color, or sexual orientation are more likely to vote for Leftist candidates. The ignorant voter will buy into the misleading campaign ads the left is throwing out there.  They won’t take the time to do the research because they get ensnared in the emotional narrative the left lays out for them.  And the left is counting on these voters this November.  Without them and their ignorance they cannot win.  With them, they have plenty of fuel to propel them to victory.  The only way the left has a chance this November is to divert our attention away from the issues that matter.  They have been attempting to do this with class warfare, the war on women, and Romney’s tax returns.  As misguided as the left is they are passionate creatures who believe in their cause.  They believe the ends justify the means and will sink to extraordinary lows to attack an opponent or change the national discussion from the issues that really matter.  The latest anti-Romney ad that claims Romney’s actions while he was at Bain Capital indirectly led to the death of a woman who lost her health insurance when her husband was laid–off is absolutely heart-wrenching.  The problem is it’s extremely misleading; but this doesn’t matter to the Kool-Aid drinkers; they are emotional and are moved by the misleading story.  The misleading story strikes a chord with them.  This kind of campaign ad is designed to target ignorant voters because the left knows the ignorant voter will not do the research or will ignore the facts when they are presented to them.  It’s designed to plant the seeds of doubt about Romney and depict him as an uncaring rich guy who doesn’t give a crap about the average American.  So what can we do counter this?

It’s Washington’s Birthday, Not Presidents Day

February 22 is the birthday of George Washington — the man who, more than any other, made possible our republican form of government.

The third Monday in February has come to be known, wrongly, as President’s Day. America’s political leaders should take this occasion to remember Washington’s deeds, recollect his advice, and again call the holiday celebrating him by its legal name: Washington’s Birthday.

What a stunner, the Left is re-writing history again

To listen to Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton tell it, you would think that the American Revolution was led by Marxists. Sheesh!

Too bad Mark Dayton isn’t running for national office.  Otherwise, I’d love to see Chris Wallace ask Dayton the “flake” question after Dayton’s explanation of the American Revolution to Minnesotans last week, an explanation that went largely unnoticed.  Minnesota’s governor has shut down state government in an effort to force the Republican-led legislature to hike taxes on the wealthy in a state that’s already ranked 43rd in the nation for tax climate, and attempted to justify this stand by hearkening back to our forefathers:

It is significant that this shutdown will begin on the 4th of July weekend.  On that date, we celebrate our independence.  It also reminds us that there are causes and principles worth struggling for – worth even suffering temporary hardships to achieve.

Our American Revolution was very much about fair and just taxes, where the middle-class was over-taxed while the very rich went tax-free.  In the absence of fair taxes, the basic services people relied upon for their health and well-being were denied them.

Er … riiiiiiiight.  The American Revolution, led by wealthy landowners and businessmen like John Hancock, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and the rest of the moneyed class revolted against the Crown for forced redistribution of wealth via government.  Damn the History Channel for not covering this aspect of the Revolution!

So, is the governor REALLY that stupid? Or is he just assuming that Minnesota voters are that stupid? Either way, he wins our Marxist Moron of the Day Award

Could George Washington be far behind? Apparently not!

Yesterday all across America, there were celebrations commemorating and celebrating the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. One such commemoration occurred on the state house steps in Columbia South Carolina, where the NAACP used the holiday to not only commemorate the King holiday, but they also utilized the holiday to march to the state house steps to protest the continued presence of the Confederate flag being flown on state property at the Confederate Memorial.

Rally draws 1,200 to State House

Marchers once again took on the Confederate flag during Monday’s King Day at the Dome rally, but they also spoke out against the 150th anniversary of South Carolina’s secession and legislative proposals to cut state spending on education and pass tougher anti-illegal immigration laws.

On a side note, something else occurred on the state house steps of South Carolina yesterday. Something that seems to have completely escaped the notice of the majority of media in America. It too was a part of the protest and it was a backdrop to the speakers present to deliver their speeches as part of the NAACP protest. But no one seems to have taken much notice of it and it seems to have been completely overlooked by most everyone in the media involved in covering the protest in South Carolina. See if you can spot what occurred.

Someone at the rally reported that there was concern that Washington’s statue might “offend” someone. So, if it might, even possibly offend “someone” we must cover it up, erase it, delete it, silence it hide it, abolish it…………..

Yet another blow to our historical heritage.

And it does not help them much

The South Carolina NAACP has responded to a request for comment and said the only reason the statue of Washington was covered up was for aesthetic purposes. “We had created a backdrop behind the speakers,” the group spokesman told The Blaze late Tuesday afternoon. According to the group, the statue of Washington has been covered each year for the annual rally. The spokesman said he was “at a loss for words” as to why covering President Washington would offend anyone, claiming it was “non-sensical” for people to believe it may have been politically motivated.

They are curious as to why anyone would be offended at censoring George Washington? Hmmmm, interesting that the NAACP is absolutely obsessed with not being offended, yet, they are perplexed at offense over THEIR actions? Not to mention the extreme level of intolerance the NAACP was displaying by attacking the flag and the Confederate memorial. And how funny is it that the NAACP is shocked that anyone would accuse them of a politically motivated act. EVERYTHING the NAACP does is a political stunt! Good grief!

A MUST-READ from the Left Coast Rebel!

Read it and think about what this young man says. Very interesting take, I offer a taste, but go read the entire piece.

Rich Trzupek today in Big Journalism drew up what he believed to be an essay on President Lincoln’s Legacy. In doing so he proved that the conservative/liberal prism-view of Lincoln really isn’t that much different. Lincoln is good. Honest Abe. He freed the slaves, he was a champion of blacks in America – the great emancipator. He saved the Union. He was a conservative, even – according to this writer.

Mr. Trzupek simply fails to mention, whether intentionally or not; a much darker side to the history of Abraham Lincoln. A darker side that reveals the lust for power that this man envisioned, the dismantling of and subterfuge of states rights. As anyone that has access to a modem, keyboard and a mouse will find – the list starts with Lincoln’s suspension of habeus corpus in Maryland and Midwestern states. On September 24, 1862 Lincoln wrote, ”That the writ of habeas corpus is suspended in respect to all persons arrested, or who are now, or hereafter during the rebellion shall be, imprisoned in any fort, camp, arsenal, military prisons, or other place of confinement, by any military authority, or by the sentence of any court-martial or military commission.”

Many argue that the Constitution allows for such – during times of ‘invasion, rebellion or when the public safety requires it.’ – as stated in Article One, Section 9 of the Constitution. I’ll leave this question to legal scholars and experts but the question remains – can you judge the intention of Lincoln as pure and noble on this subject or rather as a man using a means to the end of Federal control?

This suspension then led, during the Civil War, to Americans being arrested and their Constitutional rights trampled on. Chet Dembeck writes of Lincoln’s proclivity to imprison political opponents in his book “His Dark Side” –Lincoln’s Imprisonment of Baltimore’s May and Legislators. Abraham Lincoln literally locked up thousands of Americans under the auspice of mere suspicion against the Union.

Honest Abe, from my childhood history books, you say? Yes – truth is stranger than fictional history.

Essentially these actions point to the man. The Abraham Lincoln of folklore that simply just isn’t. Slavery was ostensibly used as well, as an ends to justify the means. The means to Lincoln were the all-encompassing state. The near-absolute abolition of the sovereignty of individual states and the concept of states rights. Evidence of this can be found in letter that Abraham Lincoln wrote a New Yorker named Horace Greeley, August 29, 1862. Horace Greeley penned an op-ed titled “The Prayer of the 20 Million” in which he called for abolition of slavery in the United States. Lincoln became aware of the the piece by Horace Greeley and wrote a response by his own hand. A summary perhaps would be what Lincoln wrote, “What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I don’t believe it would help to save the Union.”

That should stir some healthy historical debate.
