Just the latest reason I call it Marxifornia

California, sinking in Liberal failure, is now aiming at gun owners, again. Jeff Goldstein has the scoop

The gun-grabbers are really going all out here: A group of bills moving through California’s assembly and senate–including one to create a database for ammunition purchases–could create the strictest gun control laws of any state in the union. According the San Jose Mercury News, the bills being heard in the state senate on August 12 would create a database of all ammo purchases in the state, “make it crime to have a gun that’s not locked up when it’s not being carried, and extend the time for which someone is banned from owning a firearm after making a violent threat.”

So, they would track ammo purchases, with the next step logically being to red flag anyone buying “too much” ammo. The definition of “too much” to be determined by government of course. What could possibly go wrong?

The Language of the Gun Grabbers

One word deceit. The Gun Grabbers lie, they have to lie to win any debate, or to influence the media, and the public, and eventually legislators that disarming the American people, yes that is their ultimate goal, is the only way to curb violence.

The facts, nor public opinion, not being on their side however causes problems for the gun grabbers. SO, over a decade ago, the Democratic Party, and the gun “control” groups began to change their rhetoric. They started talking about common sense gun laws, and “high-capacity” magazines. They are still trying to seem friendly to gun ownership. They will even say it is a right. But much of their language is deceitful, meant to both lull gun owners into a false sense of security, and to turn more people against laws like Stand Your Ground, and against concealed carry laws.

Jeff Goldstein at Protein Wisdom has discovered their playbook, and shares it at his place. Jeff makes the point that it is all about the language. Yes it is, and we better start understanding that or we will lose all our rights.

A propaganda campaign organized by hucksters to take away the kind of natural right that would-be tyrants most fear, one that has always led to an increase in violent crimes, particularly in those urban areas where restrictions on rights are maximized, minorities are most adversely affected, and the law abiding majority is left as easy prey for the unscrupulous, opportunistic, and just place vicious and evil? Why, that could never happen here!  Right?

Gun control advocates who propose gun bans and cumbersome restrictions and registration are most active within the progressive movement. And as such, it has been revealed today that such groups use a common playbook that spells out exactly which words to use, terms to promote, and words and phrases to avoid.

All of this, of course, is designed to keep the gun ban freaks on message all across the country no matter which group to which they happen to belong.Seattle Gun Rights Examiner Dave Workman has discovered such a playbook and revealed its contents on the Examiner today. The book, titled “Preventing Gun Violence Through Effective Messaging,” is a 80-plus page guide developed by a consultant firm in Washington, D.C. One of the primary goals is to divide the gun rights community, particularly the NRA, given that gun control groups invariably identify the NRA has the great, national bogeyman.

The consultant firm, Greenberg Quinlan Rosner (GQR) has developed PR campaigns for other leftwing groups such as Planned Parenthood, National Public Radio, the Joyce Foundation, and NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

GQR advises gun control groups that in order to be effective in making progress toward their stated goal of restricting gun rights and enacting gun bans, they must use specific terms to counter Stand Your Ground self-defense laws, such as “Shoot First” laws or “Kill at Will” legislation. The objective is to tar and feather sensible self-defense by using such derogatory language every chance they get. And indeed, these phrases have been used repeatedly by Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, and others on the front lines of the gun ban movement.

The firm also advises that gun control advocates avoid using the term “duty to retreat” in support of their position, due to the fact that the term is viewed negatively by the public, not to mention that the Supreme Court and lower courts have ruled over a long period of years that citizens have no duty to retreat if their lives are immediately threatened.

A pdf file containing the full 80-page gun control playbook can be found here.

Go read it. These people are evil. they have in mind one thing, taking away your best ability to defend yourself and your loved ones. They are not people who simply see an issue differently. They are not ignorant. They KNOW that concealed carry laws and Stand Your Ground laws reduce violent crime. They do not care. To them more innocent victims is a small price to pay in the pursuit of their Marxist Utopian dream. They hate your gun because it reinforces and defends the one thing they can never tolerate, Individualism. It is Individualism, the foremost founding principle of this nation they seek to destroy. They hate Individualism because it defies them as Collectivists. As I have said many times, the key difference between Left and right is this. The Right are Individualists, believing that our rights are Natural Rights, they are inherent to us. WE believe that rights neither come from, or can be denied by government. The Left are Collectivists. They believe all rights can only come from government, and that government can restrict or deny rights as it benefits the collective. The individual is their enemy. Never forget that!

Only four words are fitting  for these miscreant bastards. Fuck You! Molon Labe!

Teachers Union VP Gun rights supporters are going to to Hell

Leaders of the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers are among those leftists who were hoping for strong new anti-firearm legislation from Washington, D.C.

And the very much hate the National Rifle Association, the group that keeps fighting off such measures.

NEA Vice President Lily Eskelsen Garcia even believes she looked into their souls and determined that NRA leaders and supporters “are going to hell.”

“I’m not an ordained minister, I’m not a theologian, but these guys are going to hell,” she said at the annual Netroots Nation conference last week, according to Mercury News.

“We have to make those senators as frightened of us as they are of the gun lobby,” she reportedly said. “Shame on us if we give one inch to the gun lobby. They got where they are because they never give up. … Now the movement is us; we are the ones we were waiting for.”

The Left does not grasp that the NRA is millions of Americans who care about their right to self-defense. The Left sees only their totalitarian designs

The Left will never stop pushing, we best learn to push back

Over at Hogewash, some good thoughts

Jazz Shaw has a post up at Hot Air about the latest trial balloon from the gun grabbers, firearm insurance. As others have pointed out, this is simply an attempt to make legal gun ownership more expensive. And as has been noted by others, the fact that the Progressives are having to float this kind of idea is a sign that they understand that they have lost the main argument for gun control with the public at large.

OK, if we’re winning, it’s time to push back. We probably can’t get a repeal of some of the more obnoxious portions of the Gun Control Act of 1968, but we can propose some “common sense” solutions.

Go read the rest, the point made. I think, is that we tend to rest on our victories, rather than using them to push harder. As i have said, incrementalism works for the Left, it can work for us.

Well, there is some sanity in Illinois after all

Via Shall Not Be Questioned comes this nugget from a statement by the Illinois Attorney General

Our message is this: we will no longer use the power and authority of our office to criminalize and punish decent, otherwise law-abiding citizens who choose to exercise the rights granted to them by the Second Amendment of the United States’ Constitution to keep and bear arms in defense of themselves and their families.

Wow, I love the sound of that. Of course, the Left is flipping out and mashing the panic button to beat the band I ESPECIALLY love this tweet

.@SebastianSNBQ We oppose anyone & everyone who flouts our Constitution & takes the law into their own hands. And we always will.

Aha, so NOW the gun grabbers give a rat’s ass about the Constitution? The same Constitution they actively seek to destroy where the 2nd amendment is concerned? I like this quote from the link, it really sums up the real priorities of the gun control zealots

This is what they are freaking out about. It’s not criminals possessing guns, it’s not drug dealers possessing guns — they are freaking out because a prosecutor has declared he’s not going to try to put otherwise law-abiding, honest people in prison.

BINGO! In the demented minds of these folks, armed Americans who defend themselves with a gun are a bigger threat than actual criminals.

H/T to Bill Quick who is quite pleased too

Bloomberg rants about gun violence, yet……….

Cities with some of the most stringent gun restrictions, like DC, Chicago, and YES, Bloomberg’s Big Apple have extremely high crime rates. The Other McCain noted this earlier.

Mayor Bloomberg’s “national campaign for stricter gun laws” notwithstanding, there were nearly 500 murders and more than 1,400 shooting incidents in New York City last year.

Wow! How is that tough stance on guns working for ya there Bloomberg? Funny how criminals just do not obey laws isn’t it?

According to police statistics, crime rates in New York didn’t change overall in 2011compared to 2012. Overall crime decreased by 0.8 percent through December 18 compared with the same period a year ago. There have been 102,445 felonies so far compared with 102,269 by the same time last year.

Breaking it down further:

  • Murders went down this year. There were 490 homicides in New York through Dec. 18 compared with the 519 killings by last Dec. 19. That’s a 5.9 percent decrease. Borough by borough, Brooklyn’s murders are down, Bronx’s are on the rise, and Manhattan’s are about the same.
  • Slightly up this year: rapes, robberies, and felony assaults. Slightly down: burglaries.
  • Shootings are also slightly up this year, with a 2.8 percent increase. There were 1,465 shooting incidents in NYC this year and 1,425 for this period last year.

Of course, we could also point to nations like Great Britain, Australia, or Japan, with very very tough gun laws and see that their crime rates have jumped up SINCE the bans. Or  we could look at the states with concealed carry laws. Those states have not had increases in violent crime as the gun grabbers predicted. In fact, violent crime drops in those states. But all of that matters not to Nanny Staters like Bloomberg. The real thing they love about gun control, is, the control.

Hey kids, who is up for more lawlessness from our dictator

Did I say our dictator? Goodness! I meant president of course. Honestly, I simply forgot that he is our president. A president who is constrained by the Constitution, and who must OBEY that document. Sadly, as Maggie points out, Obama seems to have forgotten he is supposed to obey our Constitution too!

In the Omnibus spending bill passed and signed in December 2011 (which contained the NDAA), Congress explicitly told Obama he cannot use any of the allocated funds to advocate for gun control. According to the NRA, Obama issued a signing statement over-riding the will of Congress.

Wow, what a shocker huh? Obama ignoring Congress and doing whatever the Hell he wants to.

Cam Edwards interviews John Frazer, NRA-ILA Director of Research and Information:

He will “not construe these measures as preventing him from fulfilling his responsibility to recommend such measures as he deems necessary and expedient.” So, in other words Congress says you can’t use this money to advocate for gun control. Obama says I’m going to use it to promote gun control if that’s necessary and expedient.

What else do you expect? Obama has repeatedly displayed his arrogant disregard for our nations founding documents. Face it, the man simply does not believe in the Constitution!
