Why yes, there IS a great deal of religious intolerance, and bigotry and trampling of civil rights in America today

And, as this story illustrates, it is usually being perpetrated by the Statists on the Left! Stacy McCain suspects The Lutheran Radical Atheist Menace?

(Memphis) Memphis mother Erica Shead said she was angry after her 10-year-old daughter Erin, told her Wednesday, she wasn’t allowed to write about God for a school assignment.

“It was so cute and innocent. She talked about how God created the earth and how she’s doing the best she can,” said Shead.

Erin is a student at Lucy Elementary.

Shead said Erin was told she can’t use God as an idol for the assignment.

She said her daughter was told to start over and pick another idol.

“But my teacher said I couldn’t write about God. She said It has something to do with God and God can’t be my idol,” said Shead about what her daughter told her.

Erin told her mother she was also not allowed to leave the assignment about God at school, that it must go home.

On the second try, Erin chose Michael Jackson, which was acceptable.

“How can you tell this baby, that’s a Christian, what she can say and what she can’t say?”

Shead took her concerns to the school principal at Lucy Elementary Wednesday morning.

“Can you show me this in a policy where this child cannot talk about God on paper,” asked Shead.

Either the teacher is being thrown under the Shut the Hell Up You Christ-o-Fascists Bus, or the teacher is a radical that figured she could bully a little girl.

We reached out to Shelby County Schools Wednesday.

Spokesman Christian Ross said teachers can’t promote religion, but there is not a policy preventing students from writing assignments about any God or religion.

School officials wouldn’t say what would be done to correct the situation, since it appears the teacher was in the wrong.

So, the teacher IF it was the teacher’s call, ought to be fired YESTERDAY! But, I hope this mother pushes hard enough to find out the truth. This kind of Left-Wing child abuse MUST stop!

Now, the update the school is trying to weasel out by playing the “misunderstanding card”

“Shelby County Schools respects the moral and religious beliefs of all students and families. While teachers and staff are not permitted to promote religion in the classroom, no laws or district policies allow teachers to limit students’ expression of religious beliefs in their personal classwork. This was a regrettable misunderstanding, and we as educators must learn from it. The principal and teacher have had a positive and productive conversation with the family, and we are pleased this matter is being addressed at the school level. The district will not be discussing this matter further in the media.”

In other words, the school does not want any more negative publicity. Well, I hope, again, that this is pushed until someone, or multiple someones gets the boot! Anyone who would try to bully that girl should not be a teacher, PERIOD! This was not a mistake, this was a bigot trampling a little girl’s liberty!

The Other McCain sums it up, this is not education but RE-education!

Hostility toward religion — rejection of the Bible and of divine authority — is essential to the project of modern public education.

Lesson One: There is no God.

Lesson Two: Your parents are stupid.

Lesson Three: Being gay is awesome.

Whatever comes after that is optional, but it’s important that thesefundamental principles be taught in elementary school, or otherwise children might grow up to vote Republican.

And that would be a tragedy . . .

Amen!

Why too much tolerance is a bad thing

Via Blazing Cat Fur comes this story, which shows the folly of tolerating intolernace

Moderate Muslims pressure school to cancel Santa’s visit to kindergarten class

“I went to see the headmistress to find out the reasons for this cancellation,” recalls the mother of a young girl who wishes to preserve her anonymity, “and she explained to me that she didn’t want to have her fingers rapped by certain Muslim families.” The headmistress, who has been in charge of the school in Grand-Clos for a few weeks, also invoked this argument to the mayor’s office who called her for explanations.

“She admitted to us that she had called the previous headmistress to learn how to deal with the families who, each year, threaten to boycott the school on the day of Father Christmas’ visit,” recalls Jean-Paul Fonteneau, assistant in charge of children’s affairs and teaching.

How to deal with them? Tell them to boycott! Go on with your traditions, they can accept it or be damned frankly! We have got to stop ceding our liberties, and culture to those that scream “tolerance” as a way to erase Western Culture. See this is not complicated at all. When you move to a new country, you either accept their traditions, and culture, or you do not move there! Muslims who wish to move to Western nations have to learn that they do not get to force their culture upon their new countrymen.

Don’t you love it when PC backfires?

I know I do. One of the most disturbing trends over the past decade has been children, being punished, suspended, maybe even expelled from school, for being children. The list of kids, hurt by “zero tolerance” is long, and troubling. Recently a nine-year-old boy made news for being suspended from school. His “crime”? Calling his teacher cute. Yes, apparently that innocent remark is sexual harassment to the politically correct. The Lonely Conservative has the story for us, with not only a happy ending, but with punishment for the idiot principal who made the asinine decision to punish this child.

The principal of the school in North Carolina that suspended a nine year old student for calling his teacher “cute” has resigned. He claims he was treated unfairly.

Jerry Bostic told The Gaston Gazette he could understand being written up for the suspension and having someone follow up during the school year, but he added that he was disappointed because this is how his 44 years in education ended.

“To me it’s a really sad final note to a career that I have found very satisfying and enjoy working with kids,” Bostic said. “I really don’t believe I was treated fairly.”

Awww, he was treated unfairly? Too bad. Some might think it mean to celebrate the firing of this man, but to me, people with his lack of judgement do not belong anywhere near kids, good riddance! I wish the same thing would happen to every teacher/principal who punishes kids for acting like kids.As The Lonely Conservative puts it……..

Well, now he knows how that young boy felt when he was suspended.

Exactly!
