War on women?

Via Al Bawaba:

The Salafist Nour Party objects to an article in the draft constitution which defines equality between men and women, Salah Abdel-Maaboud said on Monday.

A 50-member committee is amending the constitution drafted by an Islamist-dominated constituent assembly in 2012, of which the Nour Party was a leading representative.

In a statement on Monday, Abdel-Maaboud said the subcommittee finalising articles on the basic elements of the state had agreed on ten out of 11 articles, but disagreed on the one related to gender equality.

Article 11 states: “The State is committed to achieving equality between women and men in all the rights stated in this constitution. The State is obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure the appropriate and balanced representation of women in parliaments and local units, as organised by the law, and enable them to reconcile the duties of family and work, and protect them from all forms of violence. The State is committed to providing special care for motherhood and childhood and women who are poorest and most in need.”

However, Abdel-Maaboud said his party objected to the phrasing as it would open the door for a women’s quota in parliament, which it is against.

Remember this the next time you hear some Feminut screeching about the GOP’s “war on women”

Muslim Brotherhood support dwindling in Egypt?

We can hope the Egyptian army is kicking their arsses it would seem

Support for the Muslim Brotherhood appears to be dwindling. According to JPost, the Muslim Brotherhood was calling for a mass “Friday of Martyrs” protest and very few showed up.

Jpost reports the following:

CAIRO – Mass protests called by Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood mostly failed to materialize on Friday as the movement reeled from a bloody army crackdown on followers of ousted President Mohamed Morsi.

Troops and police had taken relatively low-key security measures before the “Friday of Martyrs” processions that were to have begun from 28 mosques in the capital after weekly prayers.

But midday prayers were cancelled at some mosques and there were few signs of major demonstrations unfolding in Cairo.

“We are not afraid; it’s victory or death,” said Mohamed Abdel Azim, a retired oil engineer who was among about 100 people marching slowly from a mosque near Cairo University. [...]

The Brotherhood, hounded by Egypt’s new army-backed rulers, had called for demonstrations across the country against the crackdown, testing the resilience of its battered support base.

A few dozen Islamists, many of them women, marched in an old Cairo district. Some carried Egyptian flags or rolled-up Morsi posters. Others held umbrellas to ward off the afternoon sun. [...]

Security forces kept a watchful eye, but did not flood the streets, even near Cairo’s central Fateh mosque where gun battles killed scores of people last Friday and Saturday.

The mosque’s metal gates and big front door were locked and chained. Prayers were cancelled. Two armored vehicles were parked down the street, where people shopped at a busy market.

Team Obama, redefining stupidity

A Nod to the Gods illustrates the sheer stupidity of this administration

Looks like Morsi is out as TMMFIC of Egypt, or at least under house arrest, and the military is taking over. As has been well documented, the Unite States has dished over 1.3 billion in aid so far in 2013. That does not include tanks and planes. I was reading over on Ace’s blog and noted this:

I read a piece a few weeks ago — before this revolution actually became a full revolution — that stated that no one in Egypt’s government had any experience governing or had any idea what the hell they were doing.  Basically the government consisted of people who had done nothing but read the Koran all day long all their lives.

I wonder if the military’s statement that a “technocrat, capable” government is a code for “We’re not allowing firebrand clerics to hold positions of responsibility over finance and trade, for God’s sake.” – Ace at Ace of Spades HQ

Ok, so if they have no idea how to govern or deal with finances, who decided how to divvy up 1.3 billion? And who in their right minds thought it was a grand idea to give $1.3 BILLION to a bunch of newbie inexperienced terrorist loving  jihadist? Good job Obama, bet we could have used some of those fun tokens here in the good ole US of A.

Every time I hear Democrats talk about spending cuts, all I hear is “we cannot cut that”, or “children will starve” or some other nonsensical clap trap. I especially loathe when these politicians say, that cutting small amounts will do nothing `to reduce the deficit. Really? If you do enough of them it will. How about starting with slicing aid to nations that hate us, or governments run by Islamists like Egypt? How about not giving military aid to these same nations? How about cutting subsidies, and corporate welfare? How about that? How about having sane tax policies? Policies with far fewer exemptions, flat rates, and lower rates. Take away the incentive and the means to cheat on taxes. Hell then we could CUT BACK the IRS, saving even more money. How about repealing ObamaCare? How about eliminating or cutting back on any number of government agencies like the EPA, Departments of Education, Commerce, Energy, and Labor? The fact is this, cutting spending is not hard, well except for politicians who use tax dollars to buy votes or to push their personal agendas.

Donald Douglas: The Muslim Brotherhood is finished in Egypt

Here you go, see what you think

At the New York Times:

As our colleagues David Kirkpatrick, Kareem Fahim and Ben Hubbard report, the head of the Egyptian military, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, gave President Mohamed Morsi 48 hours “to respond to the people’s demands” or the armed forces would move to impose its “own road map for the future.”

Reaction to the general’s warning, in a statement read aloud on state television, was swift, both online and on the streets of the capital, Cairo, where supporters and opponents of the president were still massed, one day after huge protests.

History is happening, I would love to see the Muslim Brotherhood out, and a Constitutional Republic established, we will see what the military does. More at Blazing Cat Fur

Mohamed Morsi’s regime has indicated that it will not give in to the threat of a military coup, just hours after the Egyptian army gave it 48 hours to placate the millions who have taken to the streets calling for the president’sdeparture.

Radical Islamists, saving the world from Tomboys and energy drinks

Via Emirates 24/7:

Saudi Arabia’s religious police raided a party at a well known hotel where nearly 100 girls participated in a contest for the most beautiful ‘tomboy’.

Members of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, backed by police, raided the party at the hotel in the eastern port of Khobar and arrested most of the participants, Sabq Arabic language daily said.

Police also seized a large quantity of energy drinks, “Satanist” items and a crown to be awarded to the winner in the contest, it said.

“The party was staged under the cover of a graduation ceremony. A man and a woman who organised the party were arrested,” it said, adding that most of the girls were later handed over to their parents who had not known it involved tomboys.

Energy drinks are evil now? Gee wonder what other “Satanic” items were found

British people want their guns back

Ah, so we have two great truths here. First, gun control is an abject failure. Two, people desire to be able to defend themselves

Last Friday the Daily Telegraph, Britain’s most widely read broadsheet newspaper, issued an online poll asking members of the public which proposal they would like to see introduced as a Private Members’ Bill in the UK’s Parliament.

Private Members’ Bills are introduced by Members of Parliament or Peers who are not government ministers.

The choices include term limits for Prime Ministers, a flat tax, a law to encourage the ‘greening’ of public spaces and the repealing of Britain’s hand gun ban.

While the poll continues, so far over 80 percent of the 11,000+ respondents have told the Telegraph that they want to see the handgun ban repealed. The news comes as America contemplates its own new laws on gun ownership, with British talk show host Piers Morgan claiming to back a UK-style ban for the United States.

I suppose that the Brits are looking at us, and seeing the truth

But statistics from the United States show that guns are used by citizens to defend themselves around eighty times more often than they are used to take a life. A recent study published in the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy concluded that there is a negative correlation between gun ownership and violent crime in countries internationally, that is, “where firearms are most dense violent crime rates are lowest, and where guns are least dense violent crime rates are highest.”

Funny how a public beheading will change your view of gun control. Is there any doubt that the two Islamists that beheaded that British soldier did so with no fear of being confronted? Any doubt that they would have had very different thoughts doing so in public streets in Texas or Florida, or Arizona?

Shocking video from the scene of a London terrorist attack

A man with blood-soaked hands holding what appeared to be a meat cleaver and a machete spoke out at the gruesome scene of a suspected terror attack that left one man dead in broad daylight in London on Wednesday, telling a cameraman, “you people will never be safe.”

According to reports, two men attacked and killed a third man near a London military barracks, shouting “Allahu Akbar.” The London Daily Telegraph characterized the attack as “Islamist terror.” Unconfirmed reports stated the man killed was a soldier. Two U.K. government officials told the Associated Press the attack seemed to be motivated by radical Islam.

“We swear by Almighty Allah, we will never stop fighting you until you leave us alone. The only reasons we killed this man is because Muslims are dying daily. This British soldier is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,” the man with bloodied hands told a camera, as the victim’s body lay nearby. ” I apologize that women had to witness this today, but in our land, our women have to see the same! You people will never be safe. Remove your government, they don’t care about you!”

Remind me again how British soldiers run over people on city streets in broad daylight and then butcher them like cattle:

A British soldier was reportedly murdered near an Army barracks by two men who beheaded him while shouting “Allahu Akbar!”
Eyewitnesses told reporters they saw the victim — believed to be a soldier stationed at the Royal Artillery Barracks — being “hacked to bits” Wednesday on a street in the South London area of Woolwich by two men with large knives variously described as “meat cleavers” or “machetes.” One witness said the two attackers appeared to be attempting to record video of their butchery of the victim. . . .
The BBC confirms the British government is treating the incident as terrorism . . .
One witness, identified only as James, said two men had attacked another man, aged about 20, who was wearing a T-shirt of military charity Help for Heroes.
“These two guys were crazed. They were just animals. They dragged him from the pavement and dumped his body in the middle of the road and left his body there,” he told LBC radio.
He said after the “horrendous” attack, the two men, who were also in their 20s, stood around, waving knives and a gun, and asked people to take pictures of them “as if they wanted to be on TV or something”.
“They were oblivious to anything, they were more worried about having their photo taken, running up and down the road,” he said.
