Who will replace Janet Napolitano

I had not really thought of this question. I just figured Obama would select another Leftist who will do his bidding. One thing I did think about was that no matter who replaced “Big Sis”, they could certainly not be any more of an imbecile than Napolitano. Let’s face it, tree stumps are smarter than Napolitano is. In fact, I can think of no one who excels at being a buffoon like Napolitano. Well, except for Sheila Jackson Lee that is

The Congressional Black Caucus wants Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas to be the next Secretary of Homeland Security, now that former Sec. Janet Napolitano has resigned to become president of the University of California System.

The Houston Chronicle reported that CBC Chairwoman Marcia Fudge sent a letter to President Barack Obama last week to “encourage [him] to strongly consider” Jackson Lee for the Cabinet post.

“Representative Jackson Lee would serve as an effective DHS Secretary because she understands the importance of increasing border security and maintaining homeland safety,” the letter says.

Frankly I doubt this woman understands what flavor vanilla is. She is, after all, the Congresswoman who famously said that more hurricanes needed “Black” names. Yes really! Here are just a few of the idiocies uttered from Jackson-Lee

On a visit to the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory in 2005, Rep. Lee made embarrassing news by asking if the Mars Pathfinder had taken an image of the flag planted there in 1969 by Neil Armstrong

While pushing for more gun control legislation on the House floor, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) said, “Don’t condemn the gangbangers, they’ve got guns that are trafficked.”

Jackson Lee took the House floor on April 9 to argue in favor of increased gun control legislation, “Don’t condemn the gangbangers, they’ve got guns that are trafficked — that are not enforced, that are straw purchased and they come into places even that have strong gun laws.”

“Why? Because we don’t have sensible gun legislation.”

That penalty in Obama Care? NOT a punishment according to Jackson Lee

“I would make the argument, one, that instead it is an incentive to do right–that it is not penalizing because penalty is punishment,”Jackson-Lee told the Judiciary Committee.“You’re not punished if you have health insurance, in fact. And so you are, in fact, incentivized to have health insurance, rather than take the negative which is to suggest that because we have a penalty you are being punished,” she added.

Jackson-Lee continued: “I am helping you. I am helping you not to have 26 percent un-insurance in the state of Texas. I’m helping children be insured. I’m helping diverse minorities be insured, and I know during the civil rights argument–even though we were arguing under the Constitution–there were many policy statements being made: Do we want to live in a nation that discriminates against a person because of the color of their skin? In addition to the constitutional argument, do we want to live in a nation where there are people being uninsured causing catastrophic costs unto the nation and others have to pay. I think that is the question that needs to be considered by the courts.”

“But I also need to say whether or not it is more an incentive than it is a punishment,” said Rep. Jackson-Lee. “I am more inspired by incentive. And I welcome it being a parking ticket. We get parking tickets all the time, and no one complains about being required to do the right thing.”

Then there are the two Vietnams

Repealing Obama Care? THAT would violate the Fifth Amendment according to Jackson-Lee

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, a Democrat from Texas, said on Tuesday afternoon that repealing the national health care law would violate the Constitution.

Arguing that the Commerce Clause provides the constitutional basis for ObamaCare, Jackson Lee said repealing the law by passing Republicans’ H.R. 2 violates both the Fifth Amendment’s right to due process and the Fourteenth Amendment’s equal protection clause.

“The Fifth Amendment speaks specifically to denying someone their life and liberty without due process,” she said in a speech on the House floor moments ago. “That is what H.R. 2 does and I rise in opposition to it. And I rise in opposition because it is important that we preserve lives and we recognize that 40 million-plus are uninsured.

She continued, “Can you tell me what’s more unconstitutional than taking away from the people of America their Fifth Amendment rights, their Fourteenth Amendment rights, and the right to equal protection under the law?”

Those darned RAAAAACIST hurricanes

After Spanish and French names for hurricanes — such as Juan and Claudette — were added in 2003, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, D-Houston, said hurricane names should be more representative of the cultures they impact, including blacks:

Some black lawmakers don’t seem to mind, but Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) does. “All racial groups should be represented,” said Lee.

Lee said she hoped in the future the weather establishment “would try to be inclusive of African American names.”

Egads she is a disgrace. Here she is, in her own words

And HERE is the RAAAAACIST ad!

I could go on, and on, and on, and, well you get the point, but my head is hurting from second hand stupidity here, so let Daniel Greenfield close this out

Sheila Jackson-Lee might be the dumbest person in congress. She might even be the dumbest person outside congress. If there were ever a global championship for idiots, the country could send her there. And leave her there; because unlike Lassie, she wouldn’t be able find her way back on her own.

When Enron wanted someone to use as a puppet, they picked Sheila Jackson-Lee. They wanted a woman who didn’t have a mind of her own. Enron executives described her as “agreeable”, which was a polite way of saying, “dumber than a bunch of rocks caught in the hubcaps of a slow bus going the wrong way on a one way street in the middle of a flood.”

Jackson-Lee’s only qualification for sitting on the Subcommittee on Space and Aeronautics was the space between her ears. She visited JPL and asked if the Mars Rover would be able to show “the flag the astronauts planted there before”. Staffers were reportedly surprised that she didn’t complain about cost overruns on the Death Star.

In February, Congress was debating federal spending. And Sheila Jackson-Lee got up to make her contribution denouncing a Pepsi commercial as racist. Other things that Jackson-Lee has denounced as racist include hurricanes, a balanced budget and secret service agents. Crying “Racism” is actually her only life skill.

In 2003, Sheila Jackson-Lee complained that hurricane names were too “lilly white” and said that “All racial groups should be represented.” She suggested Hurricanes “Keisha, Jamal and Deshawn”.

Last year, Lee tried to denounce the Tea Party as racist at an NAACP meeting, but in the middle of it she forgot the word for sheets, and condemned them for wearing, “uh, clothing with a name.”  Which is exactly how most of the rest of Congress refers to her.

So sure let’s make HER head of DHS, what could possibly go wrong? An exit question, Could she actually spell DHS?

Big Sis Calls It Quits

Janet Napolitano To Resign, Officials Confirm – Bizpac Review

In a sudden, surprise announcement Friday morning, U.S. secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, is resigning.

.

She is set to become the first woman president of the University of California’s “10-campus,” education system in its “145-year history,” the L.A. Times reported

According to USA Today, Napolitano issued a statement Friday saying:

I thank President Obama for the chance to serve our nation during this important chapter in our history, and I know the Department of Homeland Security will continue to perform its important duties with the honor and focus that the American public expects.

President Obama issued a statement on Napolitano’s announcement:

I want to thank Secretary Napolitano for her outstanding work on behalf of the American people over the last four years. At the Department of Homeland Security, Janet’s portfolio has included some of the toughest challenges facing our country. She’s worked around the clock to respond to natural disasters, from the Joplin tornado to Hurricane Sandy, helping Americans recover and rebuild. Since day one, Janet has led my administration’s effort to secure our borders, deploying a historic number of resources, while also taking steps to make our immigration system fairer and more consistent with our values. And the American people are safer and more secure thanks to Janet’s leadership in protecting our homeland against terrorist attacks. I’ve come to rely on Janet’s judgment and advice, but I’ve also come to value her friendship. And as she begins a new chapter in a remarkable career of public service, I wish her the best of luck.

Napolitano’s appointment to head the UC system is said to be “unusual” in that a “politician” will hold a position usually given to an “academic,” the Times said.

According to the Times:

“While some may consider her to be an unconventional choice, Secretary Napolitano is without a doubt the right person at the right time to lead this incredible university,” Sherry Lansing, the regent and former film industry executive who headed the search committee, said in a statement being released Friday. “She will bring fresh eyes and a new sensibility – not only to UC, but to all of California. She will stand as a vigorous advocate for faculty, students and staff at a time when great changes in our state, and across the globe, are presenting as many opportunities as challenges.”

Napolitano was the first woman to lead the U.S. Department of Homeland Security since its creation after the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Janet Napolitano: You have nothing to fear over the government spying on you?

Somehow, her effort to reassure us all makes me worry even more

Via Politicker:

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano weighed in on the NSA intelligence leaks on Friday, telling NY1 that fears over government surveillance were overblown.

“I think people have gotten the idea that there’s an Orwellian state out there that somehow we’re operating in. That’s far from the case,” she told Errol Louis during an appearance on Road to City Hall.

Despite civil liberties advocates’ fears that monitoring efforts have gone too far, “there are lots of protections built into the system,” Ms. Napolitano said, pointing to a privacy office embedded in her own department that is “constantly reviewing our policies and procedures.” She further stressed the court review system. “No one should believe that we are simply going willy-nilly and using any kind of data that we can gather,” she said.

Well, as long as they are not going willy-nilly, we need not be a silly-Billy! In other words we are sooooooo screwed!

Federal Judge To Big Sis: You Must Deport Illegal Aliens

Judge To Janet Napolitano: You have To Deport Illegal Immigrants – Washington Examiner

Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Janet Napolitano does not have the authority to refuse to enforce laws that require illegal immigrants to face deportation, according to the federal judge hearing the Immigration and Customs Enforcement union’s lawsuit against DHS.

.

“The court finds that DHS does not have discretion to refuse to initiate removal proceedings [when the law requires it],” U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor said today, per Business Week. O’Connor asked DHS and the ICE union to offer additional arguments before he makes a final ruling on the legality of President Obama’s “deferred action on childhood arrivals” (DACA) program, which invoked prosecutorial discretion as a means of allowing people to stay in the country if they would have qualified for amnesty under the DREAM Act, which never passed through Congress.

The judge’s comments come one day after Napolitano scolded the union, during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on the Gang of Eight’s immigration bill, for challenging the policy she and Obama have implemented.

“There are tensions with union leadership, unfortunately,” Napolitano told Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., yesterday. “Here’s what I expect as a former prosecutor and attorney general: that is that law enforcement agents will enforce the law in accordance with the guidance they are given [by] their superiors.”

Sessions faulted Napolitano for refusing to meet with the ICE officers’ union. “I have never heard of a situation in which a group of law officers sued their supervisor, and you, for blocking them from following the law,” he said. “They weren’t complaining about pay, benefits, working conditions – they were saying their very oath they took to enforce the law is being blocked by rules and regulations and policies established from on high, and that this is undermining their ability to do what they are sworn to do.”

Better get the Vaseline America

Grab your ankles, because our “representatives” are going to ram an immigration bill through, WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THE FUCK IS IN THE BILL!

Via The Daily Caller:

The “Gang of Eight” senators will release their immigration bill on Tuesday, just one day before the only scheduled hearing, according to news reports, bolstering GOP charges that advocates are planning to rush the controversial bill through the Senate before the public knows what is in it.

The bill is to be released April 16, according to a Friday report by The Associated Press.

The next day, before other senators have time to understand what is in the complex bill, Vermont Democratic Sen. Pat Leahy is slated to hold an April 17 hearing with one witness, Homeland Security chief Janet Napolitano.

There is no evidence that Democrats plan to hold additional hearings that would help senators — and Americans — to get testimony from immigration, police and wage experts about the workability and impact of the bill, which reportedly includes more than 1,000 pages.

The Democrats’ blitz has prompted protests and requests for additional hearings from GOP Senators, including Alabama Sen. Jess [ed.- they mean Jeff] Sessions, the ranking chairman of the Senate’s budget committee.

Every Senator in the Gang of Eight Ass Hats should be forced to resign like the disgraces they are. And do not give me that “but it is a bi-partisan bill” crap either! A bad bill is a bad bill, no matter who votes for it. And yes, any bill that the people cannot have time to read and digest is a bad bill!

After Releasing 2,000 Criminal Aliens, Big Sis Promises To Put Thousands More Back On The Streets

Napolitano Promises To Release More Illegals – Daily Caller

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano promised to release more illegal immigrants into the United States, saying the budget sequester has left her no choice.

Several hundred detainees have already released because of the sequester, she insisted. They were released on bail, or because their legal status had changed, she said.

“We’re going to continue to do that… for the foreseeable future,” Napolitano said at a March 4 breakfast meeting hosted by Politico. “We are going to manage our way through this by identifying the lowest risk detainees, and putting them into some kind of alternative to release.”

However, Napolitano’s statement clashed with a March 1 report by The Associated Press, which said that internal agency documents show that her managers had already released 2,000 detainees, and planned to release 3,000 more detainees.

Napolitano’s threat reflects the White House’s determination to ramp up public distress until the GOP ages to another tax increase.

Under the sequester, budgets at the Pentagon and the numerous civilian agencies are being cut by roughly 8 percent from March to September. The cuts will trim roughly 1 percent from federal spending in 2013.

President Barack Obama suggested the sequester plan in 2011, and is now refusing any changes until the GOP agrees to tax increases.

There are roughly 11 million illegal immigrants in the country, of whom roughly 7 million are working, mostly in low-skill jobs. However, roughly 20 million Americans are without jobs, including several million Americans with few job skills.

In the run-up to the 2012 election, Obama offered work permits to more than 750,000 illegals, and rolled back enforcement of immigration law.

Napolitano’s threat to release more illegals was not criticized by Tom Ridge, a former secretary of Homeland Security under George W. Bush, who was also interviewed at the Politico breakfast.

Instead, Ridge complained that the controversy over the illegals’ release threatened passage of the draft immigration rewrite.

Progress towards a legislative success “gets sidelined – well, did you release 2,000? Didn’t you release 2,000? What about this, what about that?” Ridge complained.

The pending rewrite would offer immediate work permits to roughly 11 million illegal immigrants, a path for their relatives to join them in the United States, plus a ramped-up flow of foreign workers into the United States, despite the high unemployment rate.

“The job of the secretary of Homeland Security… with regard to securing the border would be a heck of a lot easier if the U.S. Congress would forget about the partisanship and come up with a broad-based, comprehensive immigration plan,” Ridge complained.

“Story ends right there,” said Ridge, who is now a consultant to various business groups, and a board member of the American Action Forum.

The forum is a business-linked advocacy group that is promoting the pending immigration rewrite. It is chaired by Fred Malek, a GOP donor and activist, who owns the Thayer Lodging Group. The group owns several hotels, some in partnership with a Chinese hotel firm.

Ridge’s complaint was backed by Napolitano. “Ditto, absolutely,” she said.

Napolitano’s promise to release more prisoners was indirectly criticized by Michael Cherthoff, who also served as secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.

To win passage of an immigration revamp, the public needs to be reassured that immigration enforcement will continue after the law is passed, said Cherthoff, who led President George W. Bush’s effort in 2006 to push through a controversial amnesty law. The effort was backed by business Republicans and progressives, but was derailed by a wave of public protests.

“Making people confident there will be continued enforcement and security, and it won’t go away once you have some kind of amnesty” is vital, he said.

He also warned Napolitano that legislators need to rush the draft rewrite through Congress before the opposition can mobilize.

In 2006, “the time between agreement and getting it to the floor really allowed a lot of erosion from both the right and let… [so] you’ve got to move it it quickly,” said Chertoff, who is now employed by Covington & Burling, a large legal and lobbying firm.

Why is the government buying millions and millions of bullets?

The Lonely Conservative, among others poses this question

Andrew Malcolm reminds us that the Department of Homeland Security is still buying up ammunition. Lots of it. But they won’t say why, and it’s not the only federal agency buying bullets by the boatload.

In a puzzling, unexplained development, the Obama administration has been buying and storing vast amounts of ammunition in recent months, with the Department of Homeland Security just placing another order for an additional 21.6 million rounds.

Several other agencies of the federal government also began buying large quantities of bullets last year. The Social Security Administration, for instance, not normally considered on the frontlines of anything but dealing with seniors, explained that its purchase of millions of rounds was for special agents’ required quarterly weapons qualifications. They must be pretty poor shots.

But DHS has been silent about its need for numerous orders of bullets in the multiple millions. Indeed, Examiner writer Ryan Keller points out Janet Napolitano’s agency illegally redacted information from some ammunition solicitation forms following media inquiries.

According to one estimate, just since last spring DHS has stockpiled more than 1.6 billion bullets, mainly .40 caliber and 9mm. That’s sufficient firepower to shoot every American about five times. Including illegal immigrants.

To provide some perspective, experts estimate that at the peak of the Iraq war American troops were firing around 5.5 million rounds per month. At that rate, DHS is armed now for a 24-year Iraq war. (Read More)

Troubling? Yes, I was sitting here, wondering why the government would do this? Some possible answers include:

To limit availability, and or drive up the price? Sort of a back door form of gun control? I know there are other theories out there about more fiendish plots, but I am not buying into those. I do not think the government is looking to start killing us off. But, this ammo buying spree is interesting.

While I am talking guns. I am currently in the market for a new pistol for concealed carry. I am looking at .40 calibers mostly, and believe I have narrowed the choice down to two. Any thoughts on these two, or any suggestions on other .40, or .45 caliber designed for concealed carry? The Taurus MILLENNIUM PRO™ 140 .40 S&W PISTOL IN BLUE STEEL
