I will sum up Joan Walsh’s intellectual ability by saying this. She makes Jimmy Carter look smart
Watching Fox’s Bill O’Reilly interview President Obama before the Super Bowl last night, you could find evidence for Rich’s view. Obama seemed calm and sane, while O’Reilly appeared unmoored from reality, like a patient who’d gotten a day pass from a sanitarium where delusional convalescents babble about Benghazi and the IRS and the Obamacare website until someone comes and puts them to bed.
Actually, if you delete the references to Benghazi and the IRS, you would say Joan Walsh, possibly the world’s biggest Obamabot, is describing herself. Now, I am not implying here that Walsh is crazy, I don’t have to, she says that every time she speaks on MSNBS or writes at Salon. Hell Joan Walsh cannot order a pizza without seeing something racist about it. But enough about Joan Walsh’s mental instability, let’s focus on her campaign to be the most useful idiot ever
It’s simply stunning: Longtime Republican imagemaker Ailes figured out how to make sure that our twice-elected Democratic president, backed by a coalition that represents an emerging, multiracial America, must periodically be checked and hopefully shamed by a representative of the angry right-wing white male minority that barely considers him a legitimate leader.
I must ask here. Does Joan Walsh not realize Obama could say no to an interview with O’Reilly? Does she also not realize that O-Reilly is not a right-winger? I know silly questions those two are. Joan Walsh likely does not know what day of the week it is. I mean her perpetual Obamagasms likely cause her to forget inconvenient details. Like that Obama lies, A LOT! And that he lies A LOT about EVERYTHING!
Maybe the worst part was when O’Reilly asked a viewer’s question: “Why do you feel it’s necessary to fundamentally transform the nation that has afforded you so much opportunity?” O’Reilly presumably got lots of suggestions from viewers, and I’m sure many were uglier than that. But what does it mean that that’s the question he chose?
Oh yes, Joan is just sure that anyone opposed to Dear Leader is a RAAAAACIST! I mean how dare anyone actually question Obama’s authority and wisdom right Joan?
It means, again, that O’Reilly and Ailes and their viewers see this president as unqualified and ungrateful, an affirmative action baby who won’t thank us for all we’ve done for him and his cohort. The question was, of course, deeply condescending and borderline racist. Obama has been afforded “so much opportunity”? What about O’Reilly, who pretends he’s a working-class son of Levittown, Long Island, when he’s actually the kid of an accountant who grew up in Westbury and went to private high school and university?
Oh no! Not borderline RAAAAACIST! Not that! Actually, Joan Walsh if she knew anything, excuse me while I laugh at the idea that any rational thought ever entered Walsh’s mind, she would know that O’Reilly HAS called himself fortunate to be an American. Most Americans would say that of themselves. Joan Walsh might know that if she ever bothered to talk to regular Americans. But, of course, elites like Joan Walsh cannot be bothered with the peons. The question to Obama was a very good one. I would have phrased it like this “Mr. President, why do wish to transform a country that is the very best in the world?
This notion that an older generation of white people worked hard for everything they achieved, while a younger generation of folks like Barack Obama had their success handed to them, is a staple of the white backlash that Ailes has been channeling since he helped elect Richard Nixon in 1968. Having just finished Gabriel Sherman’s Ailes biography, “The Loudest Voice in the Room,” I watched the O’Reilly interview with the sinking feeling that our nation, while fortunate in so many ways, has been uniquely challenged in this crucial time: As we make the transition to a fully multiracial democracy, our leading cable news network is headed by a man who has spent his entire career channeling his own paranoia and resentment and weird racial ideas. Oh, and sexism.
This last paragraph above is absolutely intellectually vacuous, just like Joan Walsh. She presupposes the intent of, and yes Joan prejudges everyone who might ask such a question while at the same time bemoaning their bigotry. If Joan wants to see an actual bigot, she should look in a mirror.
As for the rest of that paragraph, and indeed the rest of the column, Joan simply uses her “pen” to descend deeper into her Leftist obsessed idiocy where reality is denied, and where unicorns roam free passing out free health care, and the government tucks us all in at night.
I will add this for my readers. From now on I will no longer say someone is Jimmy Carter level stupid. Oh no, from now on, they will be mocked as Joan Walsh level stupid!
