Shutuppery works because Conservatives cave too easily

The Other McCain explains

A point I made Saturday at The American Spectator:

When so many cultural institutions, from the news media to Hollywood to your local university campus, are utterly dominated by liberal Democrats, there inevitably arises a stigma toward conservative ideas and Republican politics. When people are hammered day after day by the relentless partisanship of what the late Andrew Breitbart called the “Democrat-Media Complex,” when movies and TV sitcoms habitually mock or demonize Republicans, when conservative college students are afraid of their liberal professors and radical campus activists, who can blame anyone for thinking there is something wrong with being a Republican? Cast under this shadow of stigma and suspicion, many Republicans seem to internalize the negative stereotype of themselves, to become defensive and apologetic — “Please don’t hate me” — and generally to act as if they are guilty of doing something wrong. . . .

Please read the whole thing. Republicans who send out signals of weakness and fear are, in effect, inviting attacks. And because so many Republicans lack either the courage to fight back or the skill to fight back successfully, their enemies are emboldened.

Sad but true, we have to all develop stiffer spines, McCain explains

Organizations have images — reputations — and if a negative perception develops, that perception tends to become self-perpuating. The Republican Party is currently perceived as an organization of selfish, cowardly losers, and this makes it difficult for the GOP to attract support from people who admire generosity,  strength and success. The party is increasingly defined by its whining pathetic supporters.

From the perspective of the neurasthenic weaklings who now run Republican politics, anyone who wants to stand up and fight for principles is considered a troublemaker. Ted Cruz? Mike Lee? Rand Paul? No, the GOP leadership doesn’t want to elect people like that. They want smooth-talking sellouts like Lindsey Graham and good ol’ boys like Mitch McConnell who understand that the job of Republicans is to “compromise” by giving Democrats everything they want.

Well, who in their right mind would fight on behalf of a such a party? Who would risk their reputation, their comfort, perhaps even their livelihood, to defend the Republican Party, when the party itself is run by wimps who only care about their own re-election?

Think about this: When Lady Liberty and Sister Toldjah came under fire by North Carolina Democrats, did anybody in the North Carolina GOP apparatus stand up for them? Hell, no.

You cannot win in political combat by continually retreating. If you ever hope to win, you must first determine to fight. And once you’re in the fight, you must never stop fighting until you win.

In short, they attack us because we, or too many of us bury our heads in the sand, or refuse to rally around those few that DO stand up. Another problem is that we, as a party, are too ready to throw the “wacko birds” under the bus to appease our “friends across the aisle. Newsflash, those folks across the aisle are not our friends. The see us not as friends, but as ENEMIES. And frankly, we have to face up to reality and grasp that anyone who considers us THEIR enemy, is, by definition OUR enemy!

SC Republicans Introduce Resolution Condemning RINO Senator Graham, Call For His Replacement

South Carolina Republicans Introduce Resolution To Replace RINO Lindsey Graham – Gateway Pundit

Enough is Enough

Republican leaders in Greenville County introduced a resolution this week to replace RINO Lindsey Graham as U.S. Senator.

.

FitsNews reported:

Greenville County (S.C.) Republicans have introduced a resolution condemning liberal U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for acting in a manner ”fundamentally inconsistent with the principles of the South Carolina Republican Party.”

The resolution – introduced to a cheering crowd earlier this week at a GOP executive committee meeting – blasts Graham on a number of fronts, including his votes to confirm liberal, pro-Obamacare Supreme Court justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, his support of amnesty for illegal aliens and his backing of U.S. President Barack Obama’s “cap and trade” energy tax hike.

In fact the document lists nearly thirty examples of Graham’s treachery, concluding he “should be replaced as Senator for the State of South Carolina at the earliest possible electoral opportunity.”

Ted Cruz summarizes the Schumer-Corker-Hoeven “deal.”

Senator Cruz, sums up the latest “pass the bill THEN read it” fiasco.

Senator Cruz at Red State:

On Monday at 5:30pm, the United States Senate will vote on the most sweeping immigration reform proposal it has considered in almost 3 decades – and it will do so having only seen the nearly 1200 pages of text for approximately 72 hours. Americans – including myself, my fellow senators and our staffs – are still trying to figure out exactly what is in the new Schumer-Corker-Hoeven “deal.”
Sound familiar? Pass it to find out what’s in it? Reminiscent of Obamacare, the lengthy amendment to replace the Gang of 8’s original bill was crafted behind closed doors and introduced late on Friday, after many members had left town. In the 2007 immigration debate, close to 50 amendments were considered. But this year, we have only debated 9 – with some of us being completely shut out.
Given only a weekend to review the language, we will now vote on whether to end a debate that never really began. To be clear – this is not a difficult vote. On process alone, we should all vote “no.“ This was by design – the President, Harry Reid and the Gang of 8 preferred all along to ram through a “deal,” and not have a real debate – just like Obamacare.

Here they go again! Running around like chickens with their heads cut off, so eager not only to pass a bill, but to do it in one Hell of a big hurry. Democrats want this for one reason, they see an opportunity to gain a permanent electoral advantage. The Republican supporting it are desperate to surrender every Conservative principle so as to not “lose” the Hispanic vote. That will fail for one reason, Republicans cannot win the “buy the vote” game as well as Democrats. If this passes, the same Democrats who are all lovey dovey with the Rubios, Flakes, McCains, and Grahams, will turn on the Republicans as soon as the ink is dry. Some Republicans are like Charlie Brown, still trying to kick that football even though Lucy will pull it out from under them at the last second.

As I wrote yesterday, any Senator that votes yes on a bill that no one has read is not fit to serve

Any Senator voting on any bill that is too big for anyone to comprehend, or grasp, or even read ought to resign and allow a better American that truly understands the role of Congress to serve. Jeff Goldstein has the Hoeven-Corker amendment, which is, 1,200,pages long.It is supposed to “fix” our broken immigration system. Who wants to bet this massive bill will lead to more spending, even worse border security, more government waste, and fraud, and is loaded with language that is so vague no human being can understand it? Who wants to bet that this bill will, in fact make the problem it is supposed to fix worse?

Especially nauseating is Lindsey Graham, who has convinced himself that the GOP cannot survive unless this massive crap sandwich is passed

Again, as I wrote yesterday

Lindsey, Lindsey, Lindsey, you ignorant ass, do you really think we buy the lie that this will reduce our deficit by $890 billion? Do you really expect us to believe this result in more secure borders? And finally, Lindsey, do you think anyone respects a whiner who sells out their “Conservative” values to get votes? They do not Lindsey, no one respects weakness. So, selling out your soul for votes? Please! The folks who support this sham bill will vote Democrat no matter how much you whimper. Lindsey, you cannot out Democrat the Democrats. Conservatism sells itself, as long as we have people in the GOP who actually BELIEVE in Conservatism, which it is obvious you do not Lindsey.

Just read on Twitter that Senator Cornyn will vote no on this, good for him. Again any Senator that votes yes should be primaried ASAP! Thoughts are that this bill will pass, but can it get through the House? As Stacy McCain urged earlier

John Boehner, you’d better not go wobbly.

Ever feel like cussing Lindsey Graham starts whining??

Yeah, me too

Lindsey, Lindsey, Lindsey, you ignorant ass, do you really think we buy the lie that this will reduce our deficit by $890 billion? Do you really expect us to believe this result in more secure borders? And finally, Lindsey, do you think anyone respects a whiner who sells out their “Conservative” values to get votes? They do not Lindsey, no one respects weakness. So, selling out your soul for votes? Please! The folks who support this sham bill will vote Democrat no matter how much you whimper. The difference between a hooker and a politician?

The hooker will at least let you screw her after she gets your money, politicians just screw you after TAKING your money!

I seem to remember some politicians promising us that newly legalized immigrants would not be able to receive welfare benefits. I must have been mistaken, seeing that a Senate panel just approved welfare payments for those they want to legalize. But on the bright side, if any of the formerly illegal aliens is convicted of drunk driving three times they can be deported. (Not that this administration would do so. They regularly ignore laws, or parts of laws, that don’t jibe with their agenda.)

The SenateJudiciary Committee voted Monday to allow illegal immigrants who get legal status to begin collecting tax-welfare payments, as the panel spent a fourth day working through amendments to the massive immigration bill and party-line splits began to emerge.

In one major change, the committee voted 17-1 to make a third drunken-driving conviction a deportable offense for the newly legalized immigrants if at least one of those offenses occurs after they are approved for legal status….

Overall, the committee continued to maintain the delicate balance struck by the “Gang of Eight” senators who negotiated the 867-page bill: Quick legal status for illegal immigrants, but delaying citizenship rights until after the administration spends more money on border security, puts in place a new electronic verification system to check workers’ status, and enacts an entry-exit system to check visas at airports and seaports.

In previous days’ action, two Republican members of the Gang of Eight — Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Jeff Flake of Arizona — joined with Democrats to block a series of GOP amendments to stiffen the bill’s security.

Any Republican that works with Democrats on this is a fool. The Democrats intend one thing. To get more Democratic voters into the nation. And what better way than to make government benefits available to these new immigrants. And while I know that these immigrants will not be able to vote, legally, I wonder something. If they do not have to show ID, because that would be RAAAAACIST, well, what is there to stop them from voting. And what is to stop Democrats from trying to grant them the right to vote? Patriotism? Yeah, that is a good one.

Lastly, anyone with any common sense knows that no immigration reform will ever work unless the border is secured FIRST! And we already know the Congress has no real interest in doing that. Any plan passed now will only further bloat our national debt, empower Democrats, and further weaken our national sovereignty. And if you disagree then you are a Tea Partier who wears fur and shows ID when you vote.

Remember the Name Bruce Carroll, South Carolina

Smitty opines on the question of supporting a Gay Republican

Props to Bruce Carroll:

I felt it best to resign from GOProud in advance of the CPAC conference this week so that my position in GOProud would not be a distraction from my serious deliberations regarding my potential future plans in South Carolina public service.

I wish only the best to my colleagues and fellow supporters of GOProud moving forward and I’ll always do what I can to be helpful from the crowd.

Over the next few weeks, I will be studying the resources, time and effort it would take to do my part in holding Lindsey Graham accountable for his voting record and his attitude toward the voters in South Carolina.

Feel free to disagree with me on the point, but I’m not holding anything against Carroll, sexual or otherwise. Hopefully we’ve the liberty to support great candidates without that translating into 100% endorsement of all that candidate’s personal choices, fashion or otherwise.

Some might disagree with Smitty. I will not be counted among them. I could not care less about Carroll’s love life. I care about his Conservative creds, period.

I have an interesting thought. Will Karl Rove support this “more diverse candidate” over the establishment guy, Lindsey Graham?
