Commie Kids Say the Darnedest Things

Considering that the federal government is spending over $3.5 trillion per year, that it is running yearly deficits of well over $1 trillion, that the national debt is over $16.5 trillion despite government revenues steadily climbing, that unfunded liabilities will run us an estimated $86.8 trillion, and that the entire gross domestic product is about $15.5 trillion, would you say the irresponsible and/or deliberately destructive socialist looters steering this Titanic at a giant iceberg of insolvency have a spending problem? Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t:

“We have to recognize that, which cuts really help us and which cuts hurt our future? And cuts in education [i.e., payoffs to teachers unions], scientific research [i.e., useless green energy boondoggles like Solyndra] and the rest are harmful, and they are what are affected by the sequestration,” she said on “Fox News Sunday.” “So, it is almost a false argument to say we have a spending problem. We have a budget deficit problem that we have to address.”

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) doesn’t see one either. When asked if the country has a spending problem, he replied:

“The country has a paying for problem.”

Good Freaking grief! What else can we say except FACEPALM!

Time running out to choose the light bulb you prefer

Remember liberty?

When Republicans took back control of the House in 2010 they were able to push back the default ban on incandescent light bulbs, but it was too little too late. Soon you won’t be able to buy them.

The free market operates by offering incentives to consumers to change their behavior. Cutting prices, advertising and developing new products redirect the public’s impulses in a natural, painless way. The government, on the other hand, has no passion or patience for this sort of thing.

Words like “must,” “shall,” and “mandate” pepper the texts of laws like Obamacare. The incandescent light-bulb ban, which goes into effect in March, is another case in point. The bulbs aren’t officially banned, just artificially obsolete. As part of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007, Congress mandated that light bulbs have 25 percent greater efficiency, phased in starting in 2012 and continuing until 2014. The law also includes a slew of mandates on appliances and energy use in federal buildings.

A 310-page masterpiece of micromanagement, the law was promoted heavily by then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, San Francisco Democrat, and signed by President George W. Bush. The bill was driven by a consortium of manufacturers that stand to profit from forcing people to buy more expensive bulbs and fixtures, plus the environmental lobby, which likes to pretend government regulations can lower the planet’s temperature.

Alarmed at the prospect of being forced by law to purchase expensive, squiggly compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs instead of cheap, warm incandescent bulbs, Americans complained loudly. In the face of a popular revolt, Congress pushed the start date back to October 2012 and defunded enforcement of efficiency standards as part of the 2012 and 2013 appropriations bills.

However, seeing the writing on the wall, manufacturers began phasing out incandescents. The last major General Electric factory that made them closed in Winchester, Va., in September 2010, putting 200 people out of work. One hundred-watt bulbs are already gone in some stores. (Read More)

Nancy Pelosi Takes Crazy To A Whole New Level

Pelosi: Give Obama Power To Personally Lift Debt Limit To Infinity – CNS

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said on Friday that Congress should hand over to President Barack Obama the power to unilaterally increase the limit on the U.S. government’s debt.

In effect, under the plan Pelosi is endorsing, the only limit on the national debt would be President Obama’s willingness to borrow money in the name of American taxpayers.

At a Friday press conference, a reporter asked Pelosi if she agreed with a proposal made by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner that Congress give Obama the power to unilaterally increase the debt limit.

“Yes,” she said.

The Constitution expressly gives the power to borrow money to Congress – not the president. Article 1, Section 8, Clause 2 says: “Congress shall have power… To borrow money on the credit of the United States.”

When he met with members of Congress on Thursday to discuss a deal to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff that is set to occur at the end of this year, Secretary Geithner suggested that Congress give Obama the personal power as president to lift the legal limit on the federal government’s debt.

In keeping with its constitutional power to borrow money on the credit of the United States, Congress periodically enacts legislation authorizing the president, through the Treasury, to borrow money up to a certain set limit. Pursuant to a deal negotiated by Obama and House Speaker John Boehner in August 2011, Congress enacted legislation increasing the debt limit by $2.4 trillion to a maximum of $16.304 trillion In the 16 months since Congress gave the administration that $2.4 trillion in additional borrowing authority, the Treasury has almost exhausted all of it. As of the close of business Thursday, it had only another $110 billion left.

Nancy Pelosi (D)eranged. No deal on fiscal cliff without tax rate increases

Oh but of course

WASHINGTON — House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi says she’s hopeful lawmakers can come to a deal to avoid a year-end “fiscal cliff” but any agreement has to include tax rate increases for the wealthy.

She tells ABC’s “This Week” that she can’t accept a deal that caps deductions and closes some loopholes but does not alter current tax rates for the wealthy.

The California Democrat says “just to close loopholes is far too little money” and other ideas have to be considered. Republicans have suggested they are open to finding more revenues.

Just so we all understand here, raising rates without reducing deductions and loopholes will not raise much “revenue” at all. What Democrats want is to keep a complicated tax code, so they can play political games with their class warfare rhetoric. If they were to simplify the tax codes, that might actually be a workable and effective solution. And, the ones that will be hurt by raising rates will not be big business, it will be smaller businesses.

Democratic leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi headlined a high-dollar fundraiser in May that was attended by U.S.-based Islamist groups and individuals linked by the U.S. government to the Hamas jihad group and to the Egypt-based Muslim Brotherhood movement.

The donors at the undisclosed May 16 event included Nihad Awad, the co-founder of the Council on American Islamic Relations, according to data provided by the nonpartisan Investigative Project on Terrorism.

The CAIR group was named an unindicted conspirator in a 2007 trial of a Hamas money-smuggling group.

The hosts of the event were DCCC chairman Rep. Steve Israel and two Muslim representatives, Rep. Keith Ellison and Rep. Andre Carson.

Ellison is the DCCC’s “national community outreach chair” and the co-chair of the House progressive caucus.

On Oct. 29, The Daily Caller asked Ellison’s press aide if the congressman would decline donations from Islamist groups. The aide replied that Ellison was not available to comment.

Pelosi defended her 2010 passage of health care reform, stating that the Democratic caucus was very diverse and blamed the Republicans for making it impossible for her to pass the legislation without steamrolling it through Congress. She went on to make the case that Obama and the Democrats have to win or health care reform and Medicare “as we know it” are in jeopardy.

Ah, so the Democratic caucus was “diverse” because every member wanted to force the bill through against the will of their constituents, but those Republicans, who were actually doing their jobs by listening to their constituents? They were the problem. Spoken like a true elitist with no respect for the Constitution, or the will of the people. Which, of course is EXACTLY what Pelosi, and her party is!

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi wants President Barack Obama to lay off the weed.

Reacting to an ongoing crackdown on medical marijuana facilities in California, Pelosi said in a Wednesday statement, “I have strong concerns about the recent actions by the federal government that threaten the safe access of medicinal marijuana to alleviate the suffering of patients in California.”

The California Democrat said that medical marijuana is “both a medical and a states’ rights issue.”

California legalized the use of medical marijuana in a 1996 initiative vote. It’s comically easy for many residents to acquire the necessary medical diagnosis to legally purchase the drug.

In 2009, Attorney General Eric Holder announced that the Obama administration would “effectively end the Bush administration’s frequent raids on distributors of medical marijuana.”

There are far better things for the feds to be doing than these crackdowns. California passed this law, and that is, I believe, a legitimate role for the state government of California. 

OK kids, time to play “are they really that stupid, or are they just a liar?”

Today’s contestant is Sandra Fluke, who says she had no idea that Target had cheap birth control pills.

Thirty-year-old Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke, who told a House Steering and Policy Committee hearing convened by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi last month that contraception can cost a student $3,000 during law school, told CNSNews.com on Tuesday that she did not know that the Target store 3 miles from the Georgetown Law campus sells a month’s supply of birth control pills for just $9.

Target advertises the $9-per-month birth control pills on its website, and CNSNews.com confirmed and reconfirmed that the $9 pills were in fact available at the Target near Georgetown Law.

So, which is it? Stupidity, or lies? Since everyone who EVER gets a prescription asks about  discounts, and every pharmacy offers many prescriptions for $4, I would say that Fluke is a liar! And a darned bad one too!

I put that in quotes because in the beginning she was described as a Georgetown law student. It was then revealed that prior to attending Georgetown she was an active women’s right advocate. In one of her first interviews she is quoted as talking about how she reviewed Georgetown’s insurance policy prior to committing to attend, and seeing that it didn’t cover contraceptive services, she decided to attend with the express purpose of battling this policy. During this time, she was described as a 23-year-old coed. Magically, at the same time Congress is debating the forced coverage of contraception, she appears and is even brought to Capitol Hill to testify. This morning, in an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today show, it was revealed that she is 30 years old, NOT the 23 that had been reported all along.

In other words, folks, you are being played. She has been an activist all along and the Dems were just waiting for the appropriate time to play her.

Right out of the Democrats playbook. They magically produce this poor girl, so young, so victimized. Silenced by those darned EVIL Republicans. She goes to Congress, tells some stories that may, or may not be true, take my advice and bet on containing high levels of BS, and presto!! The Democrats, create a “victim” a “voice of reason” and the media sucks it up and regurgitates it to the masses. The Republicans look like a bunch of prudes that want women to be sick, and the Democrats look like heroes!

Of course, you need hip-waders to get through all the baloney in the Sandra Fluke “story”, but, how many Americans will believe the story?

“I think that really showed their hand,” Pelosi said of the opposition to the mandate-with-accomodation that Obama announced. “It wasn’t about church and state, it was about an ideological point of view that flies in the face, again, of the respect that we need to  have to have for women, the God-given free will that we have to have responsibility for the role that women’s health plays in the lives of their families and in our country, and the strength of women,” she said.

Of course! Now anyone who opposes Obama’s encroachment upon religious freedom does not respect women! Good Grief! NO, No NO! This has NOTHING to do with respect Ms Pelosi, nothing at all. Instead, it has every damn thing to do with Leftists, like YOU Ms. Pelosi, seeking to use government coercion to trample upon our basic liberties!

But this tidbit from Newt Gingrich’s past is another concern for GOP primary voters.

The legislation, the Global Warming Prevention Act of 1989 (H.R. 1078) had 144 co-sponsors, the majority of which were liberal Democrats such as Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), then-Rep. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) and Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) and Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.). There were only 25 Republican co-sponsors, which included Rep. Gingrich.

The legislation, which never made it out of committee and was never voted on by House members, set a national goal of reducing carbon dioxide levels by at least 20 percent by the year 2000 “through a mix of federal and state energy policies,” as well as “the establishment of an International Global Agreement on the Atmosphere by 1992.”

In addition, the legislation’s summary includes the section “Title XI: World Population Growth.” That section states: “World Population Growth — Declares it is the policy of the United States that family planning services should be made available to all persons requesting them. Authorizes appropriations for FY 1991 through 1995 for international population and family planning assistance. Prohibits the use of such funds for: (1) involuntary sterilization or abortion; or (2) the coercion of any person to accept family planning services.

“Requests the President to initiate an international conference on population, and to seek an international agreement on population growth. Establishes a National Commission on Population, Environment, and Natural Resources to prepare reports and convene conferences. Terminates such Commission three years after the enactment of this Act.

To be perfectly fair, let us peek at the defense Team Gingrich is offering up

In an e-mail statement to CNSNews.com, Gingrich’s deputy press secretary, Michelle Selesky, said the former Speaker opposes an international agreement on population growth because “this would be a dangerous violation of sovereignty, and Speaker Gingrich would steadfastly oppose any international efforts to dictate or control population growth in sovereign states.”

Furthermore, “Newt supported a very limited aspect of the 1989 bill that promoted hydrogen energy research,” said Selesky. “This is consistent with his long support of aggressively developing American sources of energy, including American oil, natural gas, coal, and alternatives.”

He supported only a small part? Then why the Hell be a co-sponsor? If most of the bill went against Newt’s ideology, then he should not have had any part in it.Now, I realize no candidate is perfect, that is the way it goes. But these “imperfections” in Newt, and yes you too Mitt are starting to add up here. And yes, I know that my preferred candidate, Perry, is not perfect either. But most of his detractors will point out style point issues they have with him. Me? I can deal with the piss poor Gardasil executive order Perry issued, and the in-state tuition issue as well. On principles, Perry is really solid. I used to think Newt was too, but these skeletons keep popping up, and it reminds me that Newt is not the best option for the Republicans.

Nationalized child care? Nancy Pelosi is already thinking about that

The Nanny Statists like Pelosi would dearly LOVE for every kid to be raised by the government, the first step in such a plan? Nationalized day care!

Nancy Pelosi is hoping to regain her post as Speaker of the House and nationalize child care. I kid you not, she said that she’d like to do for child care what they did for health care. Apparently, she didn’t like being stuck at home with her children when they were little.

Last week, the California congresswoman hit five cities in five days, barnstorming for money to try to win the 25 more seats it would take to regain control. And if that happens — or when, according to her — at the top of her to-do list, she says, will be “doing for child care what we did for health-care reform” — pushing comprehensive change. …

Of the need for child-care legislation, she says, “I could never get a babysitter — have five kids in six years and no one wants to come to your house. . . . And everywhere I go, women say the same thing” about how hard it is to find the kind of reliable care that would make their family lives calmer and work lives more productive. When it comes to “unleashing women” in a way that would boost the economy, she says, “this is a missing link.”

Congress did pass such a bill, in 1971, but President Richard M. Nixon vetoed it because he thought it would undermine families and force them to put children in government-run centers.

Good grief, as if the government doesn’t already have undue influence over our children.

Government schools now teach our kids from age 5 thru 18, and you could make the 5-22 if every kid went to “free college”, a plan Democrats keep hinting at. What is next? Mandatory K-4, K-3, K-2, or how about the government just takes or baby at birth, you know, to achieve some common good? Can’t happen? You better think again

Is that unless we relent to higher taxes, which vermin like Nancy Pelosi, call “increased revenue” teachers will all be fired, kids will starve, water and air will be polluted, and the poor will suffer! Not so fast says Lance Burri

according to Speaker Pelosi:

“…if you refuse … to take one red cent from the wealthiest people in our country and the price we have to pay is the diminished defense and the diminished strength of our country, I think that something is [wrong] here.”

Say, Madame Speaker, if paying for national defense is suddenly in danger, how about we just stop subsidizing businesses with failing business models?

Or, y’know, we should just stop subsidizing businesses. Because identifying the ones with “failing business models” requires somebody in an office somewhere to make a subjective decision about those business models, and, well, y’know. Connections.

Note what Pelosi says “if you refuse … to take one red cent from the wealthiest people in our country“ as of the wealthy pay nothing at all. Basically the left have nothing to offer America, nothing but class warfare, divisive language, lies, and the continued wasting of our tax dollars, and of course, the continuing spiral into Marxism.

Too bad we do not have Congressmen like Lance Burri, and fewer like Pelosi. Congressmen that realize that our tax dollars should never be thrown into failing companies because it might help Obama get re-elected. The fact is, if Pelosi were honest, she would have said “If Democrats are not willing to stop pissing away American’s tax dollars on far left ventures that always fail, then they are not fit to serve in government!”
