Jack Pawlowski was led out of his Queens home in handcuffs Wednesday, with his stunned wife and three young kids looking on. He said nothing as detectives put him into a squad car.

His crime: He took two of his kids around the corner to Ditmars Park. There he brazenly showed them how to shoot pellets at a tree with a toy gun. This was enough to set concerned citizens on a righteous crusade to see to his punishment.

“I don’t tend to take things lying down, so I went past the parents, and so I walked straight over and I confronted him,” said Leni Calas. “I mean, he’s brandishing a firearm and I don’t care if that firearm is plastic. That’s unacceptable.”

Calas called police, who arrived after Pawlowski left. She also called City Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. (D-22nd) and posted [a photo of Pawlowski] on her “queensmamas” website.

That led to a tip that led investigators straight to Pawlowski’s door.

Doubleplus good, Comrade Calas! Big Brother should double her chocolate ration. As for Pawlowski, he will be made an example of.

“This is really a way to educate people,” Vallone said. “You cannot run around with a realistic looking gun. It’s against the law, and you could get arrested and actually go to jail.” …

[Pawlowski] remained in custody Wednesday evening, on charges of reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and possession of an illegal BB gun.

And the idiot that got her panties in a wad over a father playing with his kids? Just wait until she does something The State deems unfit, and a “concerned citizen” Brownshirt turns her in, then she will understand how dangerous allowing the State such power really is.

Former Navy SEAL Dom Raso has a special message for NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg and others like him who are pushing for more gun control: “If you really cared about the American people, you’d stand up for more freedom for them, and not more power and status for yourself.”

The 12-year veteran is one of the newest NRA News contributors and has just released a diatribe against politicians who say they stand up for American safety but are quick to sacrifice essential freedom.

“It is unbelievable that politicians like Mayor Bloomberg think that they are experts on personal protection,” Raso says in the video. “Me and the guys I fought with, we didn’t go to war so that some politician could dictate whatever he thinks is best for the American people.”

Mike Bloomberg would prefer if New Yorkers got robbed. Repeatedly. To him, anything is better than protecting yourself with a gun. How do I know this? I mean besides Mayor Mikey’s fanatical devotion to repealing the Second Amendment? Because NYC resident George Bardwil pulled a gun on a would-be robber, and Bloomberg’s Storm Troopers promptly arrested him on an illegal weapons charge.

A Manhattan millionaire faces three years in jail for drawing an unlicensed gun on a burglar inside his home.

George Bardwil, who owns linen company Bardwil Home, was in his E Street apartment when an intruder came into his home in January… Bardwil, 60, threatened the intruder with a loaded .40 cal Sig Sauer. The man fled and Mr. Bardwil called the police.

After showing the cops footage from his home surveillance cameras, they arrested him under suspicions of owning an illegal firearm…

Of course they didn’t arrest the burglar. That would require them to do actual police work. Terrorizing law-abiding citizens in their own homes is much easier. And a lot more fun.

What if this man had followed the law? What if he had been disarmed? What if the burglar had assaulted or killed him? Could he, or his family have sued nanny Bloomberg for forcefully disarming him? I wonder also if it ever occurred to the gun grabbers like Bloomberg that having citizens like this man actually benefits New York? Of course not, they hate individualism and anything that upholds Individualism. They are enemies of liberty and it is  a black mark on the voters of New York that they would have elected a would be tyrant so many times.

 

Maybe Mayor Nanny ought to tackle this?

A NYC mosque and Islamic community center is drawing a steady stream of cabs that clog streets and flout parking rules so their drivers can attend prayer services, according to local business owners and residents.

In this particular case, New York State Judge Milton Tingling ruled that the Mayor of New York and the Board of Health had far overstepped their bounds of authority.

The rule would not only violate the separation of powers doctrine, it would eviscerate it. Such an evisceration has the potential to be more troubling than sugar sweetened drinks.

Personally, I don’t drink soda, but somehow manage to carry around a few more pounds than is good for me.  I eat more than my body requires.  But that’s my business. Folks, freedom is too precious to waste, or cede without a fight. Statists like Bloomberg who want to tell us what to eat, and other Statists who wish to tell us what we can read, watch on TV, say, and when we can display our faith, or what type of gun we can own, or what size magazine, or what kind a car we can have are just as dangerous as Bloomberg. “I agree with Mayor Bloomberg,” Morgan asserted. “And what’s the point of being a mayor of a city like New York? He’s been big on gun control, big on smoking – he wants New Yorkers to be fitter and healthier. What is wrong with that?“

Heart Ache for the Nanny State, Bloomberg’s Soda Ban gets Banned!

How sweet it is — for New York City restaurants, delis, movie theaters and other establishments selling sugary beverages anyway.

A judge on Monday invalidated New York City’s plan to ban large sugary drinks, one day before the new law was to take effect.

State Supreme Court Justice Milton Tingling in Manhattan ruled the new regulation was “arbitrary and capricious” and declared it invalid, after the American Beverage Association and other business groups had sued the city challenging the ban.

Bottom line, Tingling ruled, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the city’s Board of Health did not have the authority to issue the soda ban.

At a press conference Monday evening, Bloomberg decried the judge’s ruling and vowed to appeal.

Oh yes, the great feeling that comes from seeing a power hungry control freak getting put in his place!

Are the police above the law? Do they get the “David Gregory Exemption?” Because in his haste to Do Something New York Governor Andrew Cuomo forgot to exempt them from his draconian new gun control law. That’s right, if a cop is carrying more than 7 bullets, he’s breaking the law.

Even better, if a cop brings a gun to a school, he’s breaking the law.

The NY SAFE Act, which was championed and signed into law by Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo, bans all magazines that hold more than seven bullets and pre-1994 high capacity magazines, and prohibits the carrying of guns on school grounds.

But because no loophole for law enforcement was included in the law, every police officer in the state is technically in violation of the statute even though the prohibition is unlikely to be enforced, according to New York Assemblyman Al Graf.

Graf — a former New York City police officer and the ranking Republican member of the assembly’s powerful Codes Committee — says that the ban could even impede the efforts of officers to respond to a school shooting.

“The language is unclear, and to go further, a cop cannot go on school property with a gun,” Graf told The Daily Caller. “They weren’t exempted from that, either.”

There was actually a story that was relayed to me the other day about a New York City police officer who went to a school the other day to pick up his kid, and the security guard told him that if he came to the school with his off-duty gun he would be arrested,” Graf continued.

Arrest the cops! I’d pay to see that. And to see the egg on the faces of the stupid liberals who created this mess in the first place. Knee-jerk liberal idiots, turning everyone into felons — even the police!. For the children of course.

Oh yeah, education is the issue.  If only Adam Lanza had been taught not to murder children, Sandy Hook wouldn’t have happened!

 

You know this isn’t even being anti-gun control.  It is being opposed to any defense at all.  She is rolling over and saying, “Hit me again, Ike, and put some stank on it!”

Oh good freaking grief! She goes beyond the “violence never solves anything” stupidity. Apparently she thinks all violence is a gun issue. Guess she never heard of stabbings, or strangulation, or beatings, or any “other” type of violence. But, that is the message the Left and the media are pushing now isn’t it. Chicago’s murder numbers have hit that magic 500. Baltimore’s murder toll has passed 200. In Philly, it’s up to 324, the highest since 2007. In Detroit, it’s approaching 400, another record. InNew Orleans, it’s almost at 200. New York City is down to 414 from 508. InLos Angeles, it’s over 500. In St. Louis it’s 113 and 130 in Oakland.  It’s 121 inMemphis and 76 in Birmingham.

Washington, D.C., home of the boys and girls who can solve it all, is nearing its own big 100.

Those 12 cities alone account for nearly 3,200 dead and nearly a quarter of all murders in the United States. And we haven’t even visited sunny Atlanta or chilly Cleveland.

These cities are the heartland of America’s real gun culture. It isn’t the bitter gun-and-bible clingers in McCain and Romney territory who are racking up a more horrifying annual kill rate than Al Qaeda; it’s Obama’s own voting base.

Chicago, where Obama delivered his victory speech, has homicide numbers that match all of Japan and are higher than Spain, Poland and pre-war Syria. If Chicago gets any worse, it will find itself passing the number of murders for the entire country of Canada.

Chicago’s murder rate of 15.65 per 100,000 people looks nothing like the American 4.2 rate, the Midwestern 4.5 or the Illinois’ 5.6 rates, but it does look like the murder rates in failed countries like Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe. To achieve Chicago’s murder rate, African countries usually have to experience a bloody genocidal civil war or decades of tyranny.

But Chicago isn’t even all that unique. Or the worst case scenario. That would be New Orleans which at an incredible 72.8 murder rate is ten times higher than the national average. If New Orleans were a country, it would have the 2^ndhighest murder rate in the world, beating out El Salvador.

Louisiana went red for Romney 58 to 40, but Orleans Parish went blue for Obama 80 to 17.

St. Louis has a murder rate just a little lower than Belize. Baltimore has a worse murder rate than South Africa and Detroit has a worse murder rate than Colombia. Obama won both St. Louis and Baltimore by comfortable margins. He won Detroit’s Wayne County 73 to 26.

Homicide rates like these show that something is broken, but it isn’t broken among the Romney voters rushing to stock up on assault rifles every time Obama begins threatening their right to buy them; it’s broken among Obama’s base.

A breakdown of the Chicago killing fields shows that 83% of those murdered in Chicago last year had criminal records. In Philly, it’s 75%. In Milwaukee it’s 77% percent. In New Orleans, it’s 64%. In Baltimore, it’s 91%. Many were felons who had served time. And as many as 80% of the homicides were gang related.

Chicago’s problem isn’t guns; it’s gangs. Gun control efforts in Chicago or any other major city are doomed because gangs represent organized crime networks which stretch down to Mexico, and trying to cut off their gun supply will be as effective as trying to cut off their drug supply.

America’s murder rate isn’t the work of the suburban and rural homeowners who shop for guns at sporting goods stores and at gun shows, and whom news shows profile after every shooting, but by the gangs embedded in the urban areas controlled by the Democratic machine. The gangs who drive up America’s murder rate look nothing like the occasional mentally ill suburban white kid who goes off his medication and decides to shoot up a school. Lanza, like most serial killers, is a media aberration, not the norm.

National murder statistics show that blacks are far more likely to be killers than whites and they are also far more likely to be killed. The single largest cause of homicides is the argument. 4^th on the list is juvenile gang activity with 676 murders, which combined with various flavors of gangland killings takes us nearly to the 1,000 mark. America has more gangland murders than Sierra Leone, Eritrea and Puerto Rico have murders.

Rep Jerrold Nadler of New York. Bob Owens presents the case for Nadler, and offers a great analysis of the folly of those, like Nadler, who embrace the Nanny State

Jerrold Nadler is an “average” elected member of Congress. He represents New York’s 8th congressional district, and has been in office for 20 years. He’s seen little of the world outside of New York City and Washington, D.C.. He did little of note with his life before becoming a politician, and has done little while in office, other than picking up a few titular roles by the nature of his long incumbency. He is reliably leftist in his views, using the Constitution as a cudgel when it serves him, and rejecting it when it doesn’t.

He’s utterly an utterly average, representative politician, which is why this statement is so concerning:

Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said only the federal government should have “high-capacity” gun magazines and that the “state ought to have a monopoly on legitimate violence.”

At a Capitol Hill press conference on Wednesday,  Nadler gathered with other House Democrats to push for stricter gun control in the wake of last week’s massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which left 26 dead, including 20 children.

The lawmaker told CNSNews.com that he not only supports prohibiting the future sale of 10-round gun magazines, but he would like to confiscate high-capacity clips already legally possessed by American citizens.

Historically speaking, most nation-states have had monopolies of violence over their subjects. Nadler’s qualifier “legitimate” simply means that politicians view the violence they distribute as being beyond reproach, while viewing the option of resisting government force as not just illegitimate and wrong, but evil.

We could easily spend the rest of the day (and much of the next) merely listing the governments in recorded history that have used that “monopoly of legitimate violence” to oppress their subjects and commit the occasional genocide against their people. We could point out that this precise mindset is one shared among the educated men of Parliament and the British Monarchy in the 1770s towards upstart Colonials in the New World.

Men like Nadler, and I use the word men loosely here, are a disgrace. But, really, they are no more a disgrace than the buffoons who keep voting them into office. These are voters who ignore history, and reality. These are voters who are ignorant and selfish. They only care about what Nadler, and politicians like him, can do for them. They are simply too stupid to realize that a government that can GIVE you things can also take everything away!

Such stories are a lot less rare than the “gay gene” theorists would have you believe, but because the born-that-way mantra is essential to the argument that homosexuals should be treated as a special category for civil-rights purposes, these stories don’t usually get much attention.

New York City Hits Sandy Victims With ‘Failure To Maintain’ Property Citation – WCBS

Residents in one Queens neighborhood are crying foul after they were written up for failing to clean up the city’s own mess. It is yet another new complication in life after Superstorm Sandy.

Rosanne and Joe Cavaliere are still trying to clean up from the hurricane.

They have branches through their roof, busted front windows, and, to add insult to injury, they recently received a citation notice from the city.

“It makes me angry, but it’s also ridiculous!” Rosanne Cavaliere told CBS 2’s Jessica Schneider.

They got it on Nov. 9, cited with “failure to maintain” their property.

But as they pointed out to CBS 2’s Schneider on Tuesday night, it’s a city tree that they were waiting for the city to remove.

“It was over two weeks before someone came and removed it from the house, and we were patient enough with that, but then to just be slapped with a violation,” Joe Cavaliere said.

The Department of Buildings said the citation is a mere formality. It’s a way to keep track of all downed trees.

But for people in this neighborhood… it’s a permanent mark on their property that they want removed from the records.

“They’re not only upset, but they’re insulted. And they’re nervous! They don’t know what’s going to happen as a result of having this violation,” said Elaine Young of the local neighborhood association.

The Department of Buildings released the following statement: “We have been working closely with property owners as they prepare to rebuild, and part of our process is documenting the damage that has occurred. These violations do not carry any monetary penalties, and if any homeowner has a question, please call 311.”

But that explanation didn’t fly with the Cavalieres.

“I want the violation off my house, off my record, and all of our neighbors,” Rosanne Cavaliere said.

The Department of Buildings said, for the now, the citations will stand, but the Cavalieres said they’ll continue to fight to get them removed.

State lawmakers have sent letters to the Department of Buildings commissioner demanding the violations be withdrawn.

So you see, you might be starving to death. But under Bloomy, at least you won’t get fat! That’s something to be thankful for. Right?

In one of NYC’s darkest hours, with resources stretched thin in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is showing his priorities with a ban on food donations to homeless shelters. No, not because of food contamination, but because the city can’t properly assess salt, fat and fiber in donated food and thereby ensure starving people are getting the optimal levels of nutrition. Can’t have dumpy-looking homeless people on the streets! We knew Bloomberg was a health nut, but maybe he’s just anti-food? Maybe put this one to a vote — it’s hard to imagine what harm fresh soup and bagels (two items that have already been turned away) could do to a hungry person.

This is unbelievable. They have three massive generators for the media tent, and they will need to divert police to the marathon away from where they are really needed.

The three diesel-powered generators crank out 800 kilowatts — enough to power 400 homes in ravaged areas like Staten Island, the Rockaways and downtown Manhattan.

Since emergency executive orders have been issued, the governor, mayor — or even President Obama — could take the generators for a more important use, explained Pace University law professor Bennett Gershman. …

But plenty in the city wish they had taken such decisive action. After all, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie postponed Halloween for safety reasons, so Gov. Cuomo or Mayor Bloomberg should issue an executive order for lifesaving generators.

“We’re struggling here, and we want the city to know that,” Councilwoman Margaret Chin of Chinatown said yesterday.

She asked the Office of Emergency Management on Tuesday for a generator to run pumps to get water to stranded seniors.

The article goes on to note that the manager of a Staten Island Hilton Garden Inn said they will not honor marathon reservations if it means having to throw out those displaced by the storm.

The people running the marathon say that the generators are not owned by the city or the government, so they aren’t diverting resources. But they are using NYPD flatbed trucks which were being used to transport people who were stranded until they were recalled to carry the barricades that line the marathon.

Needless to say, people in Staten Island are outraged.

Molinaro urged New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg Wednesday to cancel Sunday’s New York City Marathon. The race’s staging area is on Staten Island and Molinaro said it would be “crazy, asinine,” to have the race after what has happened.

“My God. What we have here is terrible, a disaster,” Molinaro said Wednesday. “If they want to race, let them race with themselves. This is no time for a parade. A marathon is a parade. Now is the time to put your shoulder to the wheel. If they want to prepare for something, let them prepare for the election, not a marathon.”

“Do you realize how many police officers you need for a marathon?” he asked. “There are people looting stores on Midland Avenue. There is looting taking place in the homes on the South Shore that were destroyed. That is where we need the police.”

This should not surprise anyone, Statists like Bloomberg care nothing about people. They care about power, and control, and their own benefit, but people? Bloomberg has no regard for people.
