Piers Morgan, who obviously does not grasp the concept of liberty
CNN’s Piers Morgan has become an apologist for the nanny state. He defended Mayor Bloomberg’s large soda ban on his Monday night show, a ban that was shot down that day by the state supreme court for being “arbitrary and capricious.”
“I agree with Mayor Bloomberg,” Morgan asserted. “And what’s the point of being a mayor of a city like New York? He’s been big on gun control, big on smoking – he wants New Yorkers to be fitter and healthier. What is wrong with that?“
Piers, if we have to explain it to you, then, well…………
I am sure Piers Morgan would say that this coach really did not stop the attackers though.
A 70 year-old girls basketball coach shot two attackers, killing one, after he was attacked while walking two players to their cars in the school parking lot.
WXYZ reported, via Free Republic:
Police sources tell 7 Action News that a women’s basketball coach from Martin Luther King, Jr. Senior High School shot two men who attacked him as he was walking two basketball players to their cars in the school parking lot.
Police sources say the coach was walking the two girls to their cars when two men allegedly approached and one pulled out a gun and grabbed him by his chain necklace. The coach then pulled out his gun and shot both of them, according to sources.
The man who shot the attackers was 70 years old, according to police.
One of the attackers was found dead in the median on Lafayette Boulevard, and the other was taken to a local hospital, according to police sources. We’ve learned that both of the men had attended the high school, and one had been recently expelled.
Police sources say the coach has a Concealed Pistol License and is reportedly a reserve police officer.
Any gun grabbers care to answer my question? How about the King of Intellectual Cowards David Frum?
Piers is either a buffoon, or he is just trying to keep his 15 minutes going
An armed guard successfully disarmed a 14-year-old shooter who had opened fire at an Atlanta middle school on Thursday. Thanks to the courageous off-duty school resource officer, only one student was shot and no one was killed.
Yet CNN host Piers Morgan on Friday argued that the armed guard, an unidentified off-duty Atlanta police officer, “was NOT able to stop” the Atlanta school shooting, apparently because the teen shooter was able to shoot just one student before he was stopped.
“REVEALED: Armed guard was NOT able to stop Atlanta school shooting,” Morgan posted via his official Twitter account. He then linked to a story with a headline that completely contradicted his questionable claim. “Armed guard disarmed teen in Atlanta school shooting, says police chief,” the headline read.
Here is a hint Piers, do not link a story that refutes your claim. But, I suppose in your haste to score points, you chose to ignore the facts. The fact is this. You seem to be intent on never admitting that anyone who is armed EVER stops any crimes. You are not interested in honest, open debate are you Piers? Of course not, because you know open honest debates will expose your vacuous arguments for what they are, nothing but Leftist clap trap!
Oh no, I sure hope this story does not hamper Piers Morgan’s “Hey Everybody, Look at Me” Tour!
While Democrats attempt to ban “military-style assault weapons” like the AR-15, a Rochester Institute of Technology student used that very gun to thwart home invaders and save his roommate’s life. Article from Breitbart:
Christopher Boise heard noises in the basement of his apartment; when he went to investigate, he found two intruders. One of the men trained a gun on him. Boise screamed, which woke his roommate, Raymond, who grabbed his gun bag and took out his AR-15.
One invader opened Raymond’s door only to see the barrel of the gun.
“By the time I had it out and ready, one of the men came at my door, slowly opened it, saw that there was a barrel on the other side and from there backed out,” Raymond said.
The men fled the apartment without taking anything. No shots were fired in the confrontation.
“I’m happy he saved my life. I was very thankful he had his (gun),” said Boise.
A few weeks ago, a 15-year old boy used his father’s AR-15 to stop two home invaders when he and his sister were home alone.
There are likely many such stories, the media, however, is loathe to publicize them.
It might seem odd that the Left always wants to talk about gun crimes, gun murders, gun deaths as if putting a gun into the equation makes a violent crime less violent somehow. Personally, I do not wish to get shot, nor do I wish to be stabbed, or beaten with a bat, or hammer, or to be jumped by a gang of thugs, a gang of NFL cheerleaders is a different story but that is a another matter altogether. The point here is that the Left cannot win the debate over guns by sticking with legitimate stats. So they use emotional appeals, or cooked statistics that are meant to make us believe that gun violence is a raging epidemic, and that America is awash in gun deaths. Of late their tactic seems to be to segregate crimes, committed with a gun from other violent crimes committed with other weapons. Zion’s Trumpet links to Mark Steyn who explains that while the Left loves to hold the UK up as a shining example of the glorious bliss that are gun bans, the truth is that the UK is a lot more violent than America.
Between the introduction of pistol permits in 1903 and the banning of handguns after the Dunblane massacre in 1996, Britain has had a century of incremental gun control—“sensible measures that all reasonable people can agree on.” And what’s the result? Even when you factor in America’s nutcake jurisdictions with the crackhead mayors, the overall crime rate in England and Wales is higher than in all 50 states, even though over there they have more policemen per capita than in the U.S., on vastly higher rates of pay installing more video surveillance cameras than anywhere else in the Western world. Robbery, sex crimes, and violence against the person are higher in England and Wales; property crime is twice as high; vehicle theft is higher still; the British are 2.3 times more likely than Americans to be assaulted, and three times more likely to be violently assaulted. Between 1973 and 1992, burglary rates in the U.S. fell by half. In Britain, not even the Home Office’s disreputable reporting methods (if a burglar steals from 15 different apartments in one building, it counts as a single crime) can conceal the remorseless rise: Britons are now more than twice as likely as Americans to be mugged; two-thirds will have their property broken into at some time in their lives. Even more revealing is the divergent character between U.K. and U.S. property crime: In America, just over 10 percent of all burglaries are “hot burglaries”—committed while the owners are present; in Britain, it’s over half. Because of insurance-required alarm systems, the average thief increasingly concludes that it’s easier to break in while you’re on the premises. Your home-security system may conceivably make your home more safe, but it makes you less so.
Conversely, up here in the New Hampshire second congressional district, there are few laser security systems and lots of guns. Our murder rate is much lower than Britain’s and our property crime is virtually insignificant. Anyone want to make a connection? Villains are expert calculators of risk, and the likelihood of walking away uninjured with an $80 television set is too remote. In New Hampshire, a citizen’s right to defend himself deters crime; in Britain, the state-inflicted impotence of the homeowner actively encourages it. Just as becoming a drug baron is a rational career move in Colombia, so too is becoming a violent burglar in the United Kingdom. The chances that the state will seriously impede your progress are insignificant.
Now I’m Canadian, so, as you might expect, the Second Amendment doesn’t mean much to me. I think it’s more basic than that. Privately owned firearms symbolize the essential difference between your great republic and the countries you left behind. In the U.S., power resides with “we, the people” and is leased ever more sparingly up through town, county, state, and federal government. In Britain and Canada, power resides with the Crown and is graciously devolved down in limited doses. To a north country Yankee it’s self-evident that, when a burglar breaks into your home, you should have the right to shoot him—indeed, not just the right, but the responsibility, as a freeborn citizen, to uphold the integrity of your property. But in Britain and most other parts of the Western world, the state reserves that right to itself, even though at the time the ne’er-do-well shows up in your bedroom you’re on the scene and Constable Plod isn’t: He’s some miles distant, asleep in his bed, and with his answering machine on referring you to central dispatch God knows where.
Yes, I know, Liberals will screech that this piece was written over a decade ago, but, as recent stats show, the UK is still a lot more violent than America. The murder rate, burglary rate, robbery rate and stabbing rate are all much higher in the UK. Yes, I understand the Left will ignore those facts. In fact, I have heard more than one Liberal say that somehow a gun makes every crime worse. Not sure how that happens, but we are dealing with Liberals here, their arguments do not have to make sense, they just have to feel like they do to Liberals. Despite the negative impact on the feelings of liberals facts still do matter. And the fact is this. the Left has been pushing gun control for a long time, and they often use the UK as the shining example of how the UK is a more safe nation. This is simply not true
Britain’s violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.
Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa – widely considered one of the world’s most dangerous countries.
The figures comes on the day new Home Secretary Alan Johnson makes his first major speech on crime, promising to be tough on loutish behaviour.
The figures, compiled from reports released by the European Commission and United Nations, also show:
- The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU.
- It has a higher homicide rate than most of our western European neighbours, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain.
- The UK has the fifth highest robbery rate in the EU.
- It has the fourth highest burglary rate and the highest absolute number of burglaries in the EU, with double the number of offences than recorded in Germany and France.
But it is the naming of Britain as the most violent country in the EU that is most shocking. The analysis is based on the number of crimes per 100,000 residents.
In the UK, there are 2,034 offences per 100,000 people, way ahead of second-placed Austria with a rate of 1,677.
Less guns means less crime? No, it does not. The USA has a violent crime rate of 466 per 100,000 people. Canada, another panacea of strict gun laws has a rate of 935 per 100,000 people. In the UK, which bans guns, the rate is 2,034 per 100,000 people. FIVE TIMES the rate in America.
This is why the Left talks only of GUN crimes, rather than violent crimes. They are lying by omission. And they KNOW they are lying. So, ask yourself this. Why? If their agenda is not truly reducing crimes, what is it?
Alex the Crazy was on Piers Morgan the other night, debating gun control. Of course, Piers ONLY had Jones on his show for one reason. Jones is a nut job, and Morgan wants every American to think that all gun owners are like Alex Jones. I would bet most gun owners, and mos defenders of the second amendment would cringe at the thought of Alex being compared to them in any way. In fact, I would say that most of us agree with The Other McCain’s summation of Alex the Loony
Crazy is not a political philosophy, and neither is anger. So, naturally, when anti-gun fanatic Piers Morgan wants a “typical” spokesman for Second Amendment rights, he brings on the permanently angry Alex Jones, who begins his rant with some signifying jive:
“[W]e did it to point out that this is globalism, and the mega banks that control the planet and brag they have taken over — in Bloomberg, AP, Reuters, you name it — brag that they’re going to get our guns as well. They’ve taken everybody’s guns, but the Swiss and the American people and when they get our guns, they can have their world tyranny while the government buys 1.6 billion bullets, armored vehicles, tanks, helicopters, predator drones, armed now in U.S. skies, being used to arrest people in North Dakota.”
Your key phrase there is “mega banks that control the planet.” This is classic kook-talk, the kind of paranoid stuff like Zeitgeist that inspired Jared Loughner. Recall that Zeitgeist not only demonized bankers, but also suggested that 9/11 was a hoax.
These are the ideas that circulate on the kook fringe, and Alex Jones first became notorious as a promoter of 9/11 Truther craziness.
His appetite for kook-fringe conspiracy theories discredits Alex Jones, as does his implacable raging anger. The only reason Piers Morgan had Jones on CNN was in order to discredit the Second Amendment by saying, “See how dangerously crazy these gun nuts are?”
You can watch the video The Other McCain has posted of Jones on Piers Morgan. Jones starts out fine, with some good facts, then devolves into screaming about the New World Order. Like I said NOT the guy we want defending oue rights on national TV.
This guy, Joshua Boston, a former Marine , he knows how to go into the lion’s den and win. As Stacy McCain points out, Boston has a good way about explaining liberty to ignorant news folks
But there are lots of people who have taken that oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States,” and one of them is Marine Corps veteran Joshua Boston, who had a few words for Sen. Dianne Feinstein regarding her plan to disarm American citizens:
I am not your subject. I am the man who keeps you free. I am not your servant. I am the person whom you serve. I am not your peasant. I am the flesh and blood of America. I am the man who fought for my country. . . .
I will not be disarmed to suit the fear that has been established by the media and your misinformation campaign against the American public. It’s kind of a tricky business, this question of who is serving whom, and some people seem rather confused about this. Many of the most confused people are, alas, a disgrace to my own profession. One of them, a CNN news anchor, got schooled by the former Marine corporal:
See how facts work, when applied with reason and sanity, instead of of the Crazinese that Jones uses? God bless Joshua Boston, and God bless Stacy McCain’s son who is in the Army now. We pray that God keeps him safe, and thank him for his service.
Stacy McCain opines today that everyone hates Piers Morgan
The petition to deport Piers Morgan is now nearing 90,000 signatures— which is what I’d call “a gpod start” — and this groundswell of antipathy to being lectured by a smarmy Brit on CNN has now reached America’s youth, including Michael Butler at The High School Conservative:
Piers Morgan “has a case of the sads” over the deportation petition, tweeting things such as “Ironic U.S. gun rights campaign to deport me for ‘attacking 2nd amendment rights’ – is my opinion not protected under 1st amendment rights?” One witty twitter user responded with “You ignore the Constitution, why shouldn’t they?” For those of you wondering if we really can deport Piers Morgan for being stupid, we can. James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal explains, “Your opinion is protected, your presence in the U.S. is not. See Kleindienst v. Mandel (1972).” . . .
There is also a response petition from British citizens which reads, “We got rid of him once and why should we have to suffer again. The Americans wanted him so they should put up with him. We washed our hands of him a long time ago.
McCain goes on to suggest we send Piers to France, or Canada. Hmmm, I can see Morgan in a beret, in fact, he sort of looks like he is wearing one when you watch him on CNN, if you are among the 77 people who do. He has that air of arrogance, that air of self-importance, and that accent, which is super hot on a woman (think Julia Ormond, Emma Samms, Kate Beckinsale or Kate Winslet), but on a man? But, to be fair here, not everyone hates Piers, just those that have heard him and his snooty drivel. Poor Piers, he just does not understand that when you start berating people who own guns, and criticizing the Bible, lots of folks will hold it against you. And guess what Piers, that First Amendment you are so worried about? It also grants us, the right to criticize you.
A 15-year-old boy, protecting his 12-year-old sister from two home invaders with an, wait for it, assault rifle? Gee, I wonder what smart-assed comments David Frum would make about this
I wonder what Frum and his over inflated sense of self-importance would say to mock this little girl?
I wonder what Frum, who says guns do not make anyone safer would say to this guy?
What do you think Frum?
Come on Frum, you bloated bag of arrogance? You want to make some smarmy remarks about this kid?
How about this woman Frum? You want to castigate her?
Or this one
The fact is, I could post these stories all day long. Tens of thousands of Americans use guns in self defense every year. I would ask David Frum, Piers Morgan, the crew at MSNBS, Michael Moore and the rest of the gun control zealots just one question. Would you prefer that these people not have been able to protect themselves? And I wonder if Roland Martin would be suggesting we show the carnage if these people had not been armed?
Why do Democrats continue to lie, even after their lies are exposed? I know the MSM has covered for them a long time, but now, their lies are so over the top, even Piers Morgan cannot take it! The Other McCain has the latest example from the “Queen of Unintentional Comedy”
Got credibility? Not if you are Debbie Wasserman Schultz, or the administration. I love Morgan’s response to Debbie’s “that doesn’t mean it was false” line. This is why I have no respect for miscreants like Schultz. She has no moral compass. The administration lied, REPEATEDLY, about the Libya attack, they lied until they were forced to tell the truth, then they lied about having lied. And now, Schultz is on national TV lying about the administration’s lying about lying? And she then has the audacity to accuse Republicans of doing wrong by investigating those lies! Once more, one question comes to mind, if you are still planning on voting for any Democrat, why?
Good for CNN! More at Newsbusters
“I think it is deliberately mendacious,” stated CNN’s Piers Morgan on Wednesday. “It is a deliberate attempt to lie and smear about Mitt Romney. And I find it contemptible. I mean I’m really appalled.”
“The President cannot hide behind a Super PAC on an ad as nasty as this one when that Super PAC is run by a friend and longtime deputy,” stated Erin Burnett. “Bill Burton knows the President’s ethics very well and it is fair to hold him up to this standard.”
“The facts on this ad don’t even add up,” reported Burnett. Anderson Cooper called it “a factually bogus ad from the leading pro-Obama super PAC.” Correspondent Brianna Keilar, whose critical fact-checking first aired on Tuesday evening, stood by her reporting on Wednesday.“So it just seemed like there was very much an incomplete picture in this ad,” she said, adding “I think it’s inaccurate” and “there are a number of factors that aren’t mentioned in the ad.”
“When you do an ad that seems to leave the impression that he [Romney] was at least indirectly responsible for a woman dying from cancer, that is so powerful, that is so tough, that goes beyond what you guys should be doing,” host Wolf Blitzer lectured Burton.
I take this as a good sign. Many “undecided” voters will dismiss such criticisms from Fox. CNN, however, is more credible to them so this ad will hurt Obama I think. As to why CNN is going after this I cannot say. Maybe the ad is just so over the top. Maybe it is ratings. Who knows, but I give credit to CNN here.
Turner is a rich, rich guy, but his wealth is small compared to his stupidity! If Phil Donahue and Janet Napolitano had a baby, it would be as stupid as Ted Turner!
Via Newsbusters:
Well, first of all, I believe in total nuclear disarmament. That’s the only way we’re ever going to get there. We all got to play by the same set of rules. We have 2,000 or several thousand nuclear weapons. Iran has none at the current time. It’s okay for Israel to have 100, but it’s not okay for Iran to have two. That’s, that’s, you’re not treating everybody equally.
I think we’ve already voted at the U.N. and the Security Council to get rid of nuclear weapons. Let’s get rid of them. Let’s get rid of ours, and then Iran will stop, I believe, and everybody else will because if everybody doesn’t have them, then we’re safe — at least safe from a nuclear attack.
Stupid should hurt, it really should!
Toure? With a name like that, you know he has to be a douchebag. The Right Scoop has the video of Toure trying to scold Piers Morgan for daring to have George Zimmerman’s brother on his show. As you watch this see if you are struck, as I was, by the outrage of Toure. And why is he so angry? Apparently because Zimmerman’s brother was allowed to air his views. Toure accuses Morgan of allowing lies, and misinformation to be aired. But wait, Toure does not know what happened that night? All he knows, it seems is that EVERYTHING revolves around skin color in his ugly, tainted mind. Note that when I write about Racial Obsession Syndrome, Toure is the kind of person I am talking about.
