Illinois Moves To Grant Licenses To Illegal Immigrants – Washington Times
Top Illinois state officials said Tuesday they’ll push to issue driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants – a move backed also by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who for years stood as Democrats’ key impediment to pushing immigration in Congress.
State Senate President John Cullerton said he’ll try to pass a bill in the legislature’s veto session next week to remove restrictions on illegal immigrants getting licenses there, and Gov. Pat Quinn said he’ll sign it, if it reaches his desk. Both men are Democrats.
The move represents pushback after a decade in which states went the other direction, putting tighter restrictions on driver’s licenses after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The commission that investigated those attacks recommended stricter driver’s license requirements.
Illinois would become the third state to allow illegal immigrants to get licenses, joining Washington and New Mexico.
“I strongly support state legislation that will allow every Chicagoan, regardless of legal status, to enjoy the rights and responsibilities that come with a driver’s license,” Mr. Emanuel, President Obama’s first White House chief of staff, said in a statement.

A former University of Nebraska women’s basketball star faked an attack in which she allegedly carved anti-gay slurs into her skin because she felt it would spark change, police said Tuesday.
“So maybe I am too idealistic, but I believe way deep inside me that we can make things better for everyone. I will be a catalyst. I will do what it takes. I will. Watch me,” read the July 18 posting, according to police.
Ah yes, the natural evolution of the Left. Rahm Emanuel is famous for saying never let a good crisis go to waste. Rogers takes that a step, or two farther, by faking a crisis that can then be exploited for “change”. Of course Rogers is not the first Lefty to go this route is she? There have been numerous “racist” incidents that have sparked outrage, that turned out to be fake. And, to be fair, maybe Rogers, and those other Leftist starter kits are just emulating the Sharpton model for self-starting race baiters. And, of course, we all know that many Leftists LOVE to feel like a victim don’t we? This is, in part, why the Democratic tactic of making everyone feel like a victim is so successful.
As I have noted before, if you understand the Left, understand this. When they see by any means necessary, they mean it!

For my money, the funniest thing in National Review editor Rich Lowry’s reply to global-warming guru Michael Mann is this:

Mann posted a number of enraged Facebook rants because his notorious “hockey stick” graph, projecting a sharp increase in global temperatures caused by CO2 emissions, was brutally mocked by Mark Steyn.
Mann is on the faculty of Penn State, which claimed to have conducted an “investigation” of scientific fraud in Mann’s climate-change studies. Is Mann therefore “the Jerry Sandusky of climate change”? It’s a fair question, said Steyn:

Since the 2009 release of the ClimateGate e-mails — remember “hide the decline”? — it has become obvious to most lay observers that Mann and his colleagues valued their hypothesis more than they valued facts. Among other things, the ClimateGate e-mails showed that caretakers of the global-warming “consensus” conspired to delegitimize their critics and exclude skeptics from the peer-review process.
Odd, I mean, how some things work out. Today Chick-fil-A suporters are flooding the restaurant, supporting the famed chicken sandwich chain, and BAM! A bomb threat is phoned into a Chick-fil-A. Stacy McCain has details and ponders is this just a random nut that hates chicken sandwiches?

Police and fire crews closed down the Chick-fil-A on Foxcroft Avenue in Martinsburg for nearly three hours following a bomb threat that was called in just before 1 p.m. today.The caller mentioned that a “device” had been placed within the restaurant. The building was evacuated, but was deemed safe at about 3:45 p.m. after no bomb or any other type of device was discovered.
Martinsburg City Police and the Martinsburg Fire Department personnel investigated the scene, along with Berkeley County Sheriff Kenny Lemaster. A National Park Ranger with a canine unit arrived at the scene at approximately 2:45 p.m. to assist, and a second from the West Virginia State Police arrived later as well.
Let me ask you: Of all the Chick-fil-A’s in America to be targeted with a bomb threat, why this one? Is Berkeley County, W.Va., the kind of place where you would expect such a thing?
More at The Other McCain. My take on who did this is, who knows. A stupid kid with a warped sense of humor? Someone who gets a twisted thrill out of causing such a ruckus? Like I said, who knows, but i do know one thing, I, nor Stacy, nor anyone else I know is pointing the finger of blame at the left. Too bad the Left cannot act in a similar fashion. If the roles in this were reversed, the Left would be jumping to conclusions with both feet!

Smart move, the locations that put up those signs get it, but, of course, the big wigs at Wendy’s are not that bright, and seem to be more interested in being PC, than in defending free speech from Leftist bullies.

Thwarting Iran’s nuclear program is conditional on progress in peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, according to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel
Israeli TV reports said Monday that Emanuel made the comments in a closed-door meeting the previous day with 300 major AIPAC donors.
Last month, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Israel that it risks losing Arab support for combating threats from Iran if it rejects peace negotiations with the Palestinians.
Clinton said Arab nations had conditioned helping Israel counter Iran on Jerusalem’s commitment to the peace process.
Making peace with the Palestinians? Israel WOULD be at peace if Hamas and Hezbollah would allow it, but they will not allow it. Every time Israel reaches out, they get more attacks for their efforts.
And frankly, shouldn’t stopping Iran from getting nukes be a top priority for this nation no matter what?

This is, of course, untrue, Iran wants no part of Israel, but, they are very emboldened by the weak stance they see the new administration taking. Have Iran’s leaders convinced themselves that they could attack Israel without fear of the U.S. stepping in? If they have would they be right?
If you want to weigh how much has chjanged since January 20 consider that no one would have wondered about the U.S. committment to Israel under George W. Bush.
