Ah yes, the Left knows what we “need” don’t they?

Some commonly heard mutterings from the folks on the left AKA Nanny Staters

You don’t need an SUV

You don’t need a big house

You don’t need to make that much money

You don’t need to use that much energy 

You don’t need to own that many guns

You don’t need to own an ‘assault weapon or high capacity magazines

There are more of course. it seems the Left misreads the Bill of Rights as the Bill of Leftist-Approved Needs. But let us focus on that last one about high capacity magazines. Herschel Smith at Captains Journal wrote last month about home invasions increasingly being perpetrated by multiple thugs

I noted 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-man home invasions that had occurred all over America in the span of just a few days.  In recent news:

In Louisiana, a 4-man home invasion.

In Clemson, S.C., a 4-man home invasion.

In Akron, Ohio, a 4-man home invasion.

In Longwood, Florida, a 2-man home invasion.

In York, Pa., a 3-man home invasion.

In Independence, Mo, an 11-man home invasion leading to three deaths.

In Oklahoma, a 3-man home invasion.

In Knoxville, Tn., a 2-man home invasion.

In Tucson, Arizona, a 3-man home invasion.

In Arkansas, a 3-man home invasion.

In Rockford, Ill, a 3-man home invasion.

In Georgia, a 2-man home invasion.

In Texas, a 2-man home invasion with three family members shot.

In Philadelphia, a 2-man home invasion.

Man beaten and intentionally burned in home invasion in Laurel, Montana.

In N.C., a 2-man home invasion.

In Grantville, Pa., a 4-man home invasion.

In St. Petersburg, a 2-man home invasion.

In Georgia, a 2-man home invasion.

When a violent crime is intended, the criminals are increasingly teaming up into multiple-man crews to perpetrate their evil.  Thanks, but I think I’ll keep my high capacity magazines.

Now, most Liberals reading this might accuse Herschel, and other gun owners of living in fear. that is a common trend among the gun grabbers now. you accuse gun owners of some irrational paranoia or fear, as if being aware that there bad people in the world is somehow irrational. Not at all being aware and prepared is not only NOT irrational, it is the state of mind of reasonable people.

I have told the story several times of the masked man that attempted to rob me as I exited the restaurant I ran in Dallas in 1998. He failed because I was aware, I saw his feet as he lurked behind the fire escape behind the building. He failed because I was prepared, I had my hand on my Colt .45 in my bag, as I always did when leaving late at night. And he failed because he lost his will to rob me when he was looking down the barrel of my gun. A story I have not told very much is what happened about a month later. A story I share now

In the mid 1990′a a man friend of my uncle in Tampa, a Tampa  police officer shot and killed a man attempting to carjack him. The story always stuck with me. and whenever I have stopped at a red light or stop sign I have made it a point to be aware of the surroundings, and especially of anyone approaching the car. So, after leaving work, with my gun in my bag. I drove out of the parking area behind our building, turned right onto a side street leading to Record Street, from there, it is a quick trip to I-35 South. Stopping at the light, waiting to turn left. I checked my mirrors and saw a man approaching the divers side of my car. As he got even with the back of my car, he made a move towards the door. I pulled out my gun just as he was even with the drivers window. He raised his hands, immediately, turning the way he had come.

Now, what was his purpose?  To ask for money? Ask for a ride? To rob me, take my car? The manner in which he came towards the car seems to indicate he had no good intentions. And it is clear the presence of a prepared and armed driver dissuaded his intentions.

Which brings us back to those high-capacity magazines. They are not about fear, or paranoia. It is about being prepared, because a responsible person prepares for situations that likely will never happen. Which might lead a reader to ask if I have an “assault weapon” or if my handguns hive “high-capacity” magazines. Maybe, maybe not. The point is that my home is my home, and anyone breaking in is a threat to me and those I love. The point is that it is my DUTY to defend my home, and those in it from harm. The point is I do my best to be prepared. The point is that anyone breaking in is, as I said, a threat, and I will use whatever force necessary to stop that threat!

 

Why are we so deep in debt?

Many reasons you might say, but the big issue is simple. The government has ZERO respect for taxpayers. It has not even one hint of an idea that maybe they should try to spend less. A federal audit has revealed the chairman of the Federal Maritime Commission, Richard Lidinsky, used taxpayer dollars to spend more than $1,600 a month leasing a Chevy Tahoe SUV and $75 an hour to hire a staffer to drive him around Washington D.C. 

Channel 2 Action News also found parking for the vehicle cost $4,700 a year, and at least 105 trips made with the vehicle were used to “shuttle the agency’s chairman from his office to a nearby train station” that was three blocks from his office, less than a ten-minute walk. 

After agency employees complained about the SUV, The Federal Maritime Commission’s Inspector General “investigated the procurement and usage of the SUV” and also found the agency “trampled government rules” because the Chevy Tahoe, which gets 15 miles per gallon, is not a fuel-efficient vehicle. All government vehicles must pass fuel-efficiency standards. In addition, the investigation found that “agency employees failed to properly log the trips made in the SUV.”

I am sure Libs will read this and say what difference does that spending make, we are, after all, TRILLIONS in the hole. It is about the culture people! Think if the culture was changed? Think if the culture demanded fiscal responsibility rather than accepting this type of waste and fraud? Think if the culture started to change. From a culture of entitlement to a culture of respect and fiscal responsibility!
