Charles Patrick O’Bryan, a Panama City Beach resident was jailed Monday after he allegedly drove his truck through a Waffle House restaurant in an effort to drive over his wife who is employed as a waitress there.
According to the Panama City Beach Police Department, O’Bryan called the Waffle House and asked to speak to his wife, who was working her shift.
When the woman refused to talk to him, he told another employee that he was going to run his truck through the building and kill everyone inside.
Investigators say at about 6:15 p.m., O’Bryan slammed his 1987 Ford pickup truck into the southeast corner of the restaurant, leaving extensive damage. He then got out of the truck with a knife in his hand.
A witness used a broken piece of metal from the restaurant’s exterior to subdue O’Bryan.
His wife, Danielle Gibbons, was struck by the vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported.
O’Bryan was booked into jail and charged with attempted murder and felony criminal mischief.
